Heard in the news the in 2040 Gov is pushing for 50% EV's in our streets but is Gov really not thinking. Infrastructure is not there yet to support 50% EV's on the road. Also Electricity is not cheap in the Philippines.

That's even worst than that, the Philippines government don't understand the fact that electric vehicles aren't the future, and are actually polluting 10 or 100 times more to built than normal vehicles.
The quantity of mining required to produced one EV, is gigantic at a all new level. EVs are only increasing the pollution rather than to reduce it.
Every EV produced, is accelerating the pollution, and it needs at least 3 years or certain amount of kilometers to be considered equal in pollution to a normal vehicle.
Which means, EV are coming with 3 years of pollution released in the atmosphere in advanced, compared to normal cars.
So 50% of EVs is just impossible, and would just destroy our planet faster.

America doesn't even have the infrastructure to convert all cars to EV even with Nuclear powerplants supplying them. The energy grid would collapse due to intense usage.

By 2040, we might not be pumping oil from the ground anymore. Oil is finite and not produced in the philippines. Oil might be $200 or $300 a barrel by then. Who know how much that would be in Php.
At least Electricity be it produced by coal, solar , wind , hydro , etc must always be produced locally. You could install solar panels on your roof. Let the Meralco & Napocor deal with the infastructure. They need solve it anyway as our population will grow to 140 million by 2040 to 2050.

Dapat gawing EV na lahat ng government vehicles para ma force politicians na ayusin EV infra natin.
As of now, wala naman sila pake sa gas prices dahil taxes natin nagbabayad so go parin sila sa gas guzzlers like SUVs i.e. Fortuner/Land Cruiser etc.

For fast/quick charging it needs a 3 phase supply which is not available in a common home.
Besides installation of 3Φ is very expensive. Better have a solar energy system instead.

You kept on mentioning 22kw charging, that's 22,000 watts or equivalent to 20units of 1.5hp aircon running simultaneously. How long is the charging time, I believe 10 hours up to full maybe?

An EVs battery is no cheap either.
The Philippines has no affordable energy bills, what more of an EVs that require proper electrical grid and electrical rechargeable network stations for EVs.
The staff behind this episode is delusional and does not grasp the economics behind the electricity in the nation.
It will take another 100 years to get rid of combustion engines in the Philippines to completely have an affordable energy bills and EVs.

It seems your comment is out of ignorance. A cherry tiggo 8 pro e+ gives you around 90+km of range that cost around 170-190 pesos per charge (0-100%). A BYD dolphin costs around 280-320 to charge and runs around 450-500km of range. Do the math. Most of the company are giving 10 years warranty for their battery.

The country does not have proper energy sectors for regular folks, EVs requires massive electrical access. No one's buying a disposable and replaceable EVs that only lasts 10 years just to protect a retarded rare wild pigs.
Power consumption is a luxury in the PH. EVs are good when power consumption is dirt cheap, other than that EVs advocacy are electrically delusional.

And for those who can afford the less than 2M EV's, why would I get a ICE engine that would cost me 2K to run 200km when I can charge my EV for 170pesos to do the same distance? Please DO THE MATH! Electric cars in Philippines is stupid not only they are overpriced (example jetour icecream should just only cost under 300k) you won't even get your money back from saving fuel. Not only that there aren't much charging infrastructures and if there is they charge you as much as one full tank of gasoline so your stuck slow charging it at home🤣

Don't get carried away by sweet-talking salesmen. China is dumping EVs to poor countries due to no demand. Ford and GM have stopped making EVs due to no demand. Tesla sales is crashing. EVs are a nightmare. Don't get fooled.

BYD Dolphin which is a pretty decent EV popular in Europe costs around 1.3m here. Not a bad price, but people need actual statistics if it is indeed cheaper to go full on electric compared to petrol. As many of the comments have actually said, our electricity costs are high and most households don't have garages or even if you had one I would assume most don't have outlets to charge their cars.

EV = ecology in people minds, but in reality EV = bigger climate and environmental catastrophe.
The Philippines government don't understand the fact that electric vehicles aren't the future, and are actually polluting 10 or 100 times more to built than normal vehicles.
So 50% of EVs is just impossible, and would just destroy our planet faster.

what happens when your electric vehicle gets flooded sa street in manila during rain season??? Have you ever thought about it?? Will you get electrocuted 😂😂😂 from the car??? Will there be electrical problems with the car?? Are there infrastructure charge stations??? Are there mechanics that knows how to work on e-vehicles?? How much does it cost to replace battery???? CONSIDER all these when thinking about getting an e- vehicle. My opinion? I wouldn't buy one 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
