This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

When Dehaka disappeared I actually assumed it was an ability I had never seen before. The idea that it could have died that early, especially after just HAULMPING Artanis, was not even on my radar.
the animation even made it look like that too
His death animation is him making a retreat to his lair to lick his wounds by digging a tunnel

Giant Grant Games showed their power against real scale air. Devastating
In fact, the reason StarCraft came out was because StarCraft 2's dregoon had to be made weak.
Coop Dragoons are one of the only few units that you can reliably mass and beat 90% of enemy comps without ever facing an issue. Not to mention their great cost efficiency combined with the ability to warp them in anywhere. Bulky, good damage at great range against both ground and air for little supply.

Fun fact: Stalkers exist cause sc1 dragoons were just too good. This is a unit with the pathfinding of a blind deaf infant, and it was still hecking good

Pretty sure I've never seen Dehaka die before. Took like ten seconds of dozens of Dragoon focus firing, but it finally happened.

Dehaka completely fluffed here. Not only he didn't use his roar (huge debuff of attack speed and armour) but he also wasted his third fire breath (you can barely see it at 0:13).

Every single time a leader goes up against Dahaka they just get slurped and it's hilarious to see every single time, from it being an Odin to an Artanis.

which is why it is funny when people suggest any kind of 1v1 tourney. The only way he could possibly lose it is if the Hyperion was allowed to sit over a void out of range to slowly chip him down

Wow at first I was like why does Dehaka comes with supports? He should be able to solo that with ease, the battle starts, Artanis gets instakilled and I was like poor Dragoons this is an even greater slaughter than I imagined, sudently I don't see Dehaka and I was like wait what? In the next fight I realized that Dragoons are not to be messed with.
Dehaka isn't that strong against mechanical units, especially when they are tanky.
He also couldn't heal as the cooldown for eating Artemis would be immense
Also Dehaka didn't have his roar and fire breath
When Dragoons can actually properly shoo the enemy,they are insane. Too bad they are huge and path very badly. But when someone comes in range with all of them at once,its a slaugter

My thoughts exactly :D
Dehaka's mistake:
- Devour Artanis = massive cooldown.
- Jump into the middle of Dragoon swarm = every Dragoon and their moms can hit it.
We... Have witnessed history today.
Today, we found out what can take on not just Dehaka, but an escort of one hundred Primal Hydralisks, and emerge victorious.
Was it a mass of two hundred Siege Tanks? Nay!
Was it several thousand Marines, thrown at the beast until it toppled over?! Nay!
'Twas the humble Dragoon, overlooked by so many, who avenged their fallen Hierarch, who was devoured by the peckish Dehaka in an attempt to harvest his essence.
Today, we salute the Dragoon, for it has done what no unit before has done: defeat the undefeated Dehaka!
In a way... Dehaka never dies. Look at his death animation, he just deeptunnels away. Still eternal.
Arthanis too, he warps back to the spear of Adun, every protoss near to death is warped back, if it's very injured to fight as a zelot again it turns into an inmortal of dragoon, for gameplay balance when Arthanis "dies" he really dies, but in lore protoss doesn't dies at battlefield
@@maca9095 no that’s just zealots and templar. Dragoons, Stalkers, and immortals are dead when they hit 0 HP. So it really only happens once, cause you can’t go for round 3.
@@Skullhawk13 yes, when a strider dies it really dies, in sc1 when dragoons dies we can see the liquid splashing in the ground, so as you say, there is not round 3

A solid showing from the Protoss on this channel is a refreshing change. Usually, even when the Protoss win it's only at an a ludicrous resource-cost advantage. Here, they only had the cost advantage in the first fight, and it was a relatively small advantage. Meanwhile, they actually were fairly close in fight 3 and did nicely in 4, despite being at an absolutely enormous resource disadvantage.
Also, refreshing to finally see Dehaka lose to something. :P

The results of the first round made my confidence waver, and I proceeded to guess incorrectly for every round.

@@sanstheskeleton679 I did correctly guess the Reaver's would run out of ammo for the Roaches. Everything else was same here, though. Got the rest wrong.

I for one did not see that coming.
3/4. Very surprised.
My predictions:
- Dehaka (I expected Artanis to fall immediately but did not expect the dragoons to carry the fight the way they did. I honestly thought the hydras would've wiped them out.)
- Dragoons (given what we just saw I believe the goons would have won right as soon as I saw them)
- Roaches (expected the surround and the reavers having to reload)
- Zerglings (was on the fence about this one since I knew the whirlwind aoe would do a lot)
I've actually never seen whirlwind Zealots be effective. It seems like they should shred Zerglings, but it never really seems to work out that way.
So used to seeing Dehaka win everything in these matchups that I had no idea mass Dragoon would be a counter to him, and still be enough to take on a wave of his mass Hydra backup to boot.
After seeing that giant win every single battle so far, I'm rooting for Artanis all the way 😊

Idea for a Brawl: Tournament mode. 4 groups involved 1v1 where the winner of each fights each other as do the losers. Could expand it to just have all of them fight each other is every possible combination
Ideas for the future:
Nova's Goliaths vs Phoenixes (any kind). Will the stun prevail over the multiple lifts?
H&H reapers vs any massive air fleet, just to see the reaction of people who don't know of their ability. Maybe add other units for deception.
6 fenix heroes and fenix vs multiple heroes.
Infested tanks siege mode vs igniters. Just to see if the friendly fire their own army.
Mecha battle carriers and mecha hydras vs carrier, battlecruisers and brood lords, but I dont have any good reason tbh
First fight is a classic example of being too greedy. Dehaka eats Artanis immediately, but now doesn't have any healing and 100 dragoon shots every second and change to deal with. It was simply mathematically impossible to win. Dragoons have too much hp and shields to die to the fire wave attack, so he couldn't kill anything fast enough to survive.

Artanis got instakilled so hard he didn't even get to use his revive ability. But then Dehaka got shredded by Dragoons.
Are co-op dragoons that strong? How is that possible?
Because they are that strong
They have more range and they can recover shields in battle. Also they are naturally tankier and deal good dmg. Dehaka is weak against multiple focused fire from non biological units. Hydras suck if the don't have a frontline to tank for them.
They are the backbone of Artanis army: great dmg (specially against armor and air) and A LOT of range. And, in this video, they didnt have Artanis's passive buff Guardian Shield: when the final blow is dealt to them, they become invulnerable for a few seconds and regain 15% of their shields and health. That ability would have made the match far more one sided than it already was.
@@christiantarnoski1231 Yeah, I just looked up their stats and they are pretty good. 200 total HP + 4 regen /second and 15(+15 vs armored) damage. I was under the impression that they were somewhat equivalent to stalkers but it seems like a better comparrison would be WOL Mercenary Goliaths, even stronger than that.
@@shadowpriest2574 stalkers have all there power focused in the blink ability. Dragoons have all there power focused in pure Amove combat stats.
yep. as soon as there are more than like 20 enemy units and they are not all immediately killed by the flame attack, dehaka loses pretty hard.

The title is a bit misleading.... 1v1 Dahaka doesn't lose against anything. But I am glad to see his forces able to mop up and actually show Dahaka how it feels to lose.

Dehaka got screwed by eating Artanis that early; the more health the target he eats has, the longer its cooldown would be (it's near-instant with marines, for example). He killed high-health hero and then jumped in the middle of high-damage crowd.

That first battle, Dehaka should have turned those hydras into mutas. Things would possibly have gone differently.

It's really funny how the dragoons stomped Dehaka himself, and then 40 of the strongest non unique units in the game. And then as soon as the Daelam stopped using dragoons they didn't win a single fight.
