    I do not like the fact that I have to start my car twice as a result of using the remote start. It really destroys the feature of remote start and is very annoying - so much so that I took the remote start off my key chain and don't even use it. Subaru needs to add a feature where you can change that setting.

    So with this system, I get to start my vehicle twice before I drive away? I get the safety aspect but other manufacturers simply lock the transmission selector. This prevents theft and saves unnecessary wear on the starter. Come on Subaru.

    • @tommymas1
      @tommymas1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, 400 feet applies to the remote start without the key. The separate remote fob's range is 400 feet. If you use the fob with the keyless entry, it's only 90 feet.

    The apps have between 1.5-2.5 stars. They baked in a dozen features when all that most people want is remote start and climate control. Then they give a short free trial with a $99 or $150 annual cost. NOBODY in their right mind would pay that. If you get the highest trim, remote start should be included WITHOUT any subscription cost. That's money grubbing, especially when 90% of the reviews are 1 star because the apps don't work.

  • @RichH1994
    @RichH1994 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I push my FOB twice and I get 1 beep - tells me that the car recieved the signal. Then a few seconds later the FOB either beeps twice - which means that it started OR it beeps 3 times which means that it did not start. I don't know why it doesn't start. How's this supposed to work? What does the 3 beeps mean?

  • @michaelhinchey

    a safety feature would be that the car doors lock and you need a key to unlock it. If the car shuts off when I open the door that is just dumb.

    Anyway to disable the feature where the car turns off when you open the door? That is incredibly annoying. I thought something was wrong with my car. In my old Subaru the car turned off when you stepped on the break without a key in the ignition. That feature worked perfectly to deter theft.

      One of the stupidest ideas Subaru ever came up with - the engine shuts off when you open the door; safety feature, they say. Where's the safety? No one can steal the car that has been started with the remote start - if you try to put the car in gear, or touch the pedals, the engine dies. Stupid - and they continue foisting this on the buying public; no doubt, they want to sell more starter motors. Also, the whole idea of needing two fobs if you want remote start really sucks; just what I want, one pants pocket full of two fobs, to start and then get into the car. Subaru needs to get up to date, rather than always lagging WAY behind the other car manufacturers. On another topic, I'm still waiting for Groove to post the video they said they had finished over 8 months ago, and were going to post any day, about how to do voice to text with an Android phone. Another stupid idea, you have to have an I Phone in order to do voice to text, you can't do so with an Android phone. But Groove knows a secret, and they are holding it from us; they said, over 8 months ago, that they had made a video showing how to do voice to text with an Android phone - but they won't share the secret with us.

    Hello! Great videos! Just to confirm this MY17 Fozzy has the keyless access and pushbutton start and it also has the 'long distance' remote start? Any idea if other Subaru models with keyless access and pushbutton start can utilize this long range (separate remote fob) remote start system? I have the an '18 WRX with keyless access and pushbutton start and the (useless) short range remote start and am being told this long range option isn't possible to be installed. Very frustrating when certain subaru models can and others can't.

    I dont understand why I even need the extra little remote start FOB if the base Remote/Key can do the same thing AND lock or unlock my doors. Unless the little FOB has a longer range or works while inside a building where as the base remote might not? All it does for me is make my keys bigger and harder to stick in my pockets.
    So does the little remote starter work better? Or can I take it off my keys and still use the base Remote/Key???

    I totally hate the fact that Subaru has not listened to its customer and fixed this annoying so call safety feature of car shutting off when a door is opened. My 2018 crosstrek remote starter you have to start car a second time once I open the door. Really stupid. I thought I was doing something wrong. Can this feature be disabled. If I would have known this I would have skipped this feature and had local shop install it.

    • @ebdunn6530
      @ebdunn6530 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The remote is supposed to beep two times if the engine has started, and three times if it hasn't started - with my 2016 Outback. The little remote that I have is not at all reliable; it usually doesn't beep at all, or beeps either two or three times, as it feels like. The only way to be sure is to find a window and look at your car. The remote is a piece of junk. Not dependable, at all. The remote is also supposed to blink when the engine has started, and keep blinking; again, my remote has a mind of it's own, and blinks or not, as it feels like. The Subaru dealer just gives me a vacant stare, then walks away, when I relate this to him.

    The engine shouldn't cut off, it should just require you to have your key fob for access to the car and once inside, require you to push the start button (if you have push to start) then it'll "unlock" the car and allow you to drive. It's pretty dumb that it turns it off and makes you restart the engine again...If I knew this I wouldn't have gotten this feature installed. Also two key fobs is silly, when you can do it all from the main fob. The idea of the keyless automatic entry is so you can stash the key and forget its there since it doesn't take up much space. Stupid to add something that takes up more space.

    2 details and errors:
    1- Even if you turn on the heated seats, they will not get warm until someone sits in them. Another Subaru "safety feature" 🙄.
    2- The range on the key fob is much less than the separate remote start fob. In fact, you said 400 yards but it's really 400 feet (133 yards) and that's only for the remote fob. The key fob is only good from around 90 ft.

    The extra fobs seem kinda overly redundant, since you need the standard fob to hit lock before utilizing the specific remote fob. A little easier than hitting lock twice and holding it... but would probably be easier just to put a remote start button on the fob itself that isn't built into the lock button itself. The other thing is, if a car is coming with the remote keyless entry... I.E... Limited and touring trims (depending on the model) it should come with remote start out of the gate... other manufacturers do it...
