  • This video will show you how to remote start your Subaru using your phone. The remote start Subaru app is called MySubaru. This is available on most 2020 and new Subaru models (Some 2019 Subaru models like the Subaru Forester and the Subaru Ascent). Your Subaru must be equipped with push button start to use this app. You can also remote start your Subaru with a separate key fob. This remote start Subaru key fob does not come with your Subaru but can be purchased separately from your Subaru retailer.

    I used to like it. Had to cancel this year. I would pay $99 a year to remote start, but not $149. And you HAVE to pay $149. Don’t get fooled by the separate plans for remote start. If you want remote start you have to buy both.

    I like the remote start from the app, but it's kind of cumbersome and a remote start on the fob would be better for me... I came from a Domestic pickup that could be started with the fob OR an app, I usually use the remote start on my way out to the car and it takes longer to "sign in" and send the signal than it did to just use the fob.
    The lock and location features I really dig though. I was on a flight and couldnt remember if I locked my doors in the airport parking lot - with the app I was able to confirm locked from the gate... that was cool.

      The CVT and Boxer engine have been around for decades now so they have had time for improvements. I wouldn't worry about CVT or engine issues, since we don't see this often on the newer models. available on some 2019 models like the Ascent and the Forester as well. Must subscribe and you must have push button start. It's $150/year on pre-owned cars. Hope this helps!

    First of all, I love your videos and have learned a lot. However, I HATE this app. I live in Michigan and winter is here so I have wanted to start my car before I have to leave the house and too many times the network has been down. This app is absolutely worthless to me. I want the key fob remote start.

    Why does the air conditioner come on when you use remote start? I start my car with the Subaru remote app and go to get in and the air is running. I didn’t set it up for air, I set it up for heat. Someone said this is by design.

      Yes, 150/year on used cars. When purchasing new, you get a discount. $100 for 3 years, $175 for 4 years, or $250 for 5 years total.

      The Starlink app is no longer in use. But the roadside assistance/sos service is still in use. You now use the MySubaru app only for remote access. I know it's a bit confusing

    Hi Alex, Recently purchased a 2024 Crosstrek limited. The remote key fob rarely works when the car is parked in the driveway of the house I where I live - cant open/lock doors - something in the area is blocking the signal. The fob works perfectly everywhere else - of all the places for the fob not to work - outside ones own home - what are the chances of that? I have tried both fobs and it's the same result, so it is not a battery issue. I've mentioned it to the dealership and they asked if there were any telecom masts in the area - there are none. So I've been using the app to open and lock the doors for the past 4 months since I bought the vehicle (app is great by the way, thanks for the video). I guess the only way to solve the problem would be to get the fobs electronic signals re-set, which I'm sure the dealership will charge me for; or move house hahahaha! What's your take. Have you come across other Subaru customers with this problem.

      Sounds to me like you got the wrong fobs for the vehicle. Do the fobs work in other places besides home?

    • @user-3tf67bk46u
      @user-3tf67bk46u 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mtpokitHe said the fob (both) worked perfectly everywhere but at home.
      To original poster, any update on this issue? It seems to me that your dealer should swap codes for free in the interest of warrantying the car. You could have them come to your home so you could prove you're not getting something for nothing, you're just requesting that the car works from home as it should.

    • @petersichel9934
      @petersichel9934 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Since you mention the problem is specific to the driveway of your house, it could be caused by radio frequency interference. In most cases the source of the interference is coming from inside your house. Something you could try is to shut off the power to your entire house at the main breaker panel and then test if your key fob works as expected. If so you have confirmed it's coming from inside your house. After restoring power to your house you can test shutting off individual breakers to isolate which circuit or room is powering the device that is causing the problem. It might be something as simple as a wall wart or motion sensor for example. Some of these cheap off-brand devices can generate a lot interference.

    • @HangTheTraitors157
      @HangTheTraitors157 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mtpokitThanks for your reply. Yes, they work perfectly everywhere else. It is only in the driveway to the house that I have a problem. It is more of an intermittent problem now, I would estimate the fob works 60% of the time in the driveway. It works 100% of the time everywhere else.

    • @HangTheTraitors157
      @HangTheTraitors157 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-3tf67bk46uHi, thank you for your reply. The fob problem is not as severe as it once was. I would say that it works in the driveway of the house approx. 60% of the time. It works perfectly in every other location. I live 5 hours drive from the dealership where I bought the vehicle (10 hour round trip). I am planning on moving house in the summer so hopefully the electrical interference problem will no longer be a problem. I was considering asking the dealership to change the fob codes, but considering I'm moving address I decided agianst it. Thanks again.

    I just set my 2020 Subaru Legacy Limited up. So in order to get in and drive away I step on the brake and push the start button.. Now you are not doing this because the car stopped running when you opened the door, correct? I know some people delt with this nonsense having to restart the car again after shutting off because the door opened. People said that Subaru told them this because of a safety issue.. REALLY? Anyway I will find out tomorrow morning. Is cold rain right now and I might melt. Other option is to have dealer install 375 dollar unit and pay labor charges. About 500 bucks or so. Then you have to carry another FOB just for remote. But pays for itself in 3 years. I dunno phone method has climate control. But truthfully how often do you need to fiddle with that Set it before you get out of car and leave it, like all the other cars I had that had remote starters for the past 20 years.. Buncha novelty bells and whistles .. But WTF, I will try it for a year.. I am sure the price will go up .. I wish I had access to the seats, sometimes my Hems will act up and I might need less lumbar.. :oP

    10 minutes isn’t long enough of an auto start time. I understand that in some areas of the world it’s illegal to leave your car running for longer than that. But Subaru should make the app area specific so it can allow for a longer start time. 20min would be nice

    Just make sure the car doesn't mix up your keys if more than one of you have keys. We got our car locked up....at the dealership thank goodness...because I used my key for the lock and the start and my husband tried to use his to turn it off and anyway, just use the same key to complete.
    If I start the car in the house I make sure it is turned off and I unlock it. Then my husband has no problem starting. May be overkill but I'm not taking a chance of getting locked up and no one to help.
