    We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    with something as rigid as that pipe, I suspect that it could cause something to crack on the muffler as opposed to using something flexible. Even your car or truck has considerations for that. I am curious how it is working, today.

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a video that mention this recently. I will have to do a update. Recently when removing the generator to fill up, placing it back it I missed the hole in back of the shed and hit the pipe on the back wall. It cause a crack in the exhaust box. So, I then cut the pip down much smaller. I believe to 3" and had to drop a wield on the box. Then put some high temperature gasket sealer on it. Back working perfectly. But I would go with a flexibility exhaust next time.

      I hope your channel really takes off to get some good funds. I started a saving fund with any spare money I get. I put towards projects. Right now I have three little funds and three projects. I want to put down a little tile in front of the doors so I'm saving for that. I already started saving for the porch on the cabin. I also started saving for a good saw. I have three jars of change I'm going to cash in and I've been selling a lot of stuff on marketplace for my saw fund. Lol I tried to budget really well and save. I am also still pretty young and ambitious. I'll go do some odd jobs shoveled snow etc, etc. All for some extra funds. Lol If my wife would let me I would have a second job. But she said she never got to see me when I was working two to three jobs and then the Marine Corps.

      An easy solution is to remove the pull rope assembly and use a socket that fits the nut on the crankshaft. Then you use your cordless drill to "electric start" the gen set. Mine starts right up every time with this mod.

  • @SarenStarfire

    It was great seeing how you adapted the generator to take the pipe extension. I would consider using a shorter piece of pipe and adding a pipe coupler so that the extension can be easily removed.

      Its was to exhausted the generator out of the generator shed. I should have made that more clear for the people that do not subscribe to my channel. For the people that do not know I run my off-grid cabin from this generator.

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The goal was to extend the exhaust out of the generator shed. The generator is extremely quiet (stock) compared to many other generators on the market. It is quieter then my Honda. At the end of the video before I bring the generator outside, you are hearing my compressor filling up not the generator. Thanks for watching!

    Were you able to find longer bolts? They are approx. 5mm but when I tried a 5mm .8 pitch nut on the short bolt (came with Predator) the nut would not go onto the little bolt.

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took one of the bolts to home depot. I found the correct size from one of the gages hanging on the wall in the bolt Isle. Then I went to the specialty drawers and selected the correct size. I do not recall the size.

    How hot do the pipe get? can you connect some form of radiator hose and run the exhaust away? Will it get too hot?

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest with you, I do not know how hot the pipe actually gets. I'm going out to the cabin today maybe I'll take a temperature reading. I have the pipe exhausted out of the back of the generator shed. I put it through some Durock. (Just to play it safe)

    looks awesome! I was wanting to put mine in the rv bay, but not big enough, so, gonna use rcvr hitch with basket on rear of rv & set the generator there, maybe run exhaust out further, but back pressure may be an issue, besides, there's a co meter, so, no worries there.. you have a link for remote start? also, may want to connect a little solar charger to the generator battery to keep it trickle charged up.

      It's because he doesn't mention WHY within the first few minutes. He mentions that he will show "how", but he must have hidden his agenda sometime within this 20 minute video that could have been compressed down to 4 minutes or less. I love watching generator videos but this one perplexed me as to "why" simply because it wasn't obvious and wasn't mentioned early enough. I still watched it at 2x speed though! :)

    Looked to me that the weight of the pipe and vibration will cause damage real quick. Like the Chinese water torture. Just a little over time I'm guessing will crack the internal parts of the generator. I also don't see why you did this? You're not gaining anything. The internal engine parts are not meant to support such a heavy pipe. I did like the video!

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I wanted to vent the exhaust out of the shack because of the heat! When I did this it was the only option I thought would work. Now they do have a flex hose that works much better. I used the generator for over a year with this pipe with no issues. But then I was filling the generator with gas and then pushed it back into the shed. The pipe hit the wall and crack the muffler housing. I since then shorten the pipe and now removed it completely. I think I have a Video showing it and the repair. It worked just fine but there are now better options.

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's more of a DIY project. You need to have the generator. It really works great but I would use a smaller pipe. Becareful when moving it around you can damage the exhaust if it hits something. If I ever do it again I would look for more of a flexible exhaust pipe. I will give pros & cons of this extended exhaust in a upcoming video. Thanks for watching.

  • @joewoodchuck3824

    I might be just as happy with an exhaust fan in the shed wall and some air intakes on the opposite wall..

    • @LibertyCreekOffGrid
      @LibertyCreekOffGrid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The exhaust would really heat it up in there and I'm sure the fumes would be harmful radiating from the shed. You definitely need some sort of exhaust port on the generator shed. But the exhaust fan and the vents are a great idea to keep circulate the air with the door closed. I always keep the door open or cracked until I get an exhaust fan set up.

    • @joewoodchuck3824
      @joewoodchuck3824 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LibertyCreekOffGrid I was thinking a dedicated permanent fan of good volume capacity. For me, keeping the doors closed for noise control would be important, along with the potential for not needing to move the generator in order to operate it.
