Seems like generators and pressure washers are often neglected. People don’t maintain them and let them sit for months then expect them to just work perfectly. I’ve seen so many with gummed up carbs, stuck valves, and gelatinous oil. Good catch on noticing the mark on the piston and replacing the valves as a precaution.
Years ago when I was looking for an inexpensive 3K watt generator the Predator wasn't even an option. They tripped the 15 amp breaker with a circular saw. I ended up getting a Black Max from Sams club for $199. It's 120v only and has 20 amp breakers. 208 Ducar. Bought a tri fuel carb for it and it hasn't seen gasoline since. The inverter gens are nice and are way quieter than the open frame generators. It's too bad that guys don't change their oil like they should. This past year I opened up two of my 196's and was amazed at how clean they were. It was a combination of fairly low hour run time and short oil change intervals. The Hisun 196 was nearly seven years old and looked very good inside. The 196 Greyhound was built more than three years ago and there was nothing to wipe out inside, just clean oil.
Definitely man regular maintenance can go a long way with these small engine powered machines. Hopefully the owner of this generator follows my recommendations for maintenance.
My wife thinks I crazy for saving all these parts. I tried to find replacement parts online but they’re out of stock . The only thing I could find was a complete head. So yes likely I had a supply of just the right parts needed to save the generator.
Hello, No I didn’t see the hrs run on it. All I can say is keep it serviced and should run for a very long time. It’s basically a Predator 212 inside and easy to work on. Thanks for watching!!
I have a generator that the spark only lid up 3 seconds. I remove the oil sensor cable still the same. I doubt it is carb becahse it will not start even with starter fluid. I bought a starter circuit board and is waiting from Amazon.
Hello, That’s a tough one especially not being able to see it. As you said it’s not a fuel problem. I would check the coil ground side that stops the engine from running. That will also connect to the board you purchased. You could also unplug the engine kill (ground) completely and check for spark with the plug out of the engine. Have you taken the valve cover off and check the condition of the valve for a problem like this video showed. Good luck and Thanks for watching!!
Hello Joey, No this thing was not starting. Yes it had spark but had mechanical damage in the head on the exhaust side that cause no compression. Once repaired ran beautifully. Thanks for watching!!
Hello Chuck, This generator was definitely neglected. I hope that the owner follows my maintenance recommendations.

Success! Good Job Willy!👍
Seemed like ever time I look at it found another problem. Just glad I could fix it.

Good thing you have a lot of HEMI part laying around 🤣🤣 great video! Thanks for sharing.

Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!!
Top a the morning g to ya Willy I see your off to a good start 💪🏼⚡️⚡️⚡️ have a good Sunday man God bless
Happy Sunday!
Great fix! I used to love working on generators. I still have a bunch of leftover units I need to do something with. You've inspired me again!
The repair was more than I expected. But it was fun to figure out all the problems.
Super build. Did you happen to see total hours run? I've got one and wonder what's down the road.

@@DIYWilly thank you
