in my opinion i enjoyed the game but I think what killed Gotham knights was the fact it was so heavily compared to the rocksteady batman games. I enjoyed it mostly because I always wanted to play as red hood in a video game and I thought the story was okay defiantly not the best but I defiantly feel like there were some missed opportunities in there and I think it was just miss handled mostly, and a bit rushed.
The reason why traversal is so slow especially the bike was because the devs couldn't get the map to load fast enough whilst also keeping a consistent fps. So they actually made the batcycle top speed 40mph 😂😂😂
I do like the game and play it now and then for a couple of hours, i just chill out and explore and do a few missions.....i like batgirls fighting style and the outfits look great.
Oh well there goes any chance of Nightwing and Redhood getting their own a solo games. They'll be relegated to supporting roles in whatever Batman game we get 10 years from now.

in the dc animated universe. i believe "Son of Batman", Deathstroke was i control of the league of assassin's oro shadows and had created an army of Man-Bats.
No, it really wasn’t. I still enjoy playing this game it definitely could have been better but it’s definitely not as horrible as everyone was trying to make it out to be.
Yes the game is horrid. Terribly rendered in the open world, Story was mid, Gameplay an fight mechanics are GARBAGE af. the way you upgrade characters is honestly boring an sad af. the Trials for everything is just basic an boring. Feels like a copy an paste of an early 2000's arcade game w an arkham spinoff.
I wouldn't say the gameplay was garbage but it was most definitely meh.. considering we got such a basic fighting system because of the multiplayer and its a dead online game now is sad 💪🏻👔
It's because the game was CLEARLY made in the time of "we're gonna make this a live service" and focused and then went back on said ideals thus broke the game.
People complained that it should have been more like Arkham series combat wise, now the complaining that is it's trying to copy the combat? if this doesn't explain why the game didn't do so well ratings wise then I don't know what will, " "Fans" are completely clueless and don't know what they want" unfortunately Gotham Knights was doomed when it was announced when the Close minded playerbase turned their heads when it wasn't another Arkham game, it's like people can't adapt to try new things, and I don't think Gotham Knights was that bad like people make it out to be, I just think certain people with limited capacity was bitter and still bitter that it wasn't your typical Arkham game. I've been calling it years ago that Suicide squad wasn't going to be better than Gotham Knights lmao, it's funny how well that aged.
@@Lugent25 My dude the upgrade system is bad, sure the costumes look cool and all yet besides that they HAD all 4 of these character's movesets done. Arkham Knights was clearly rushed since it needed to cook some more
The league of Assassins actually did have Man-bat soldiers called Man-bat commandos! This happens in the comics and one or two of the animated movies with Damian.
See the only things I enjoyed about this game was the lack of joker as the main villain, the “concept” of the court of owls, and playing with my friends. The weird dlc, they shoulda just unlocked 4 player co-op after the first heroic assault and discussed more missions oriented dlc and characters. But it’s over now I guess.
It wasn't that bad. 6 out of 10. The story was average, and the gameplay was OK. I didn't like the grind and repetitive crimes and how all 4 characters were very similar play style.
You're going to laugh. I think it was supposed to be a game as a service and that they changed their mind at the end of the development. It feels unfinished like if they had planned some more content after launch. More gear level and stats, more customization, a better MODS fusion system, maybe some more side story missions etc.
That's surely a gameplay loop that can't possibly fail 🤔 Jokes aside looking at the building blocks for Gotham knights I completely agree with you, at least they had the sense to backpedal on it 👔
I wanted this game to work so bad the combat just needed tweaks and we needed more boss battles. And certain gameplay mechanics needed to be either changed or deleted
Arkham origins while being made by WB studio and not rocksteady, it was closely monitored by rocksteady and they even shared features from Arkham knight to origins.
Me and a friend got the game on pc together, super cheap with all DLC and we played the entire campaign together over a few weeks. We used mods to fix some of the game's issues and generally tried to focus on progressing the story and not get held down by the grind. I would argue we had the best possible experience you can have with this game. 7/10, would not play again, would like to see a sequel that builds on what worked.
To me, it wasnt. I refunded the game whenevr it got so much hate, but recently bought it again on ps5 and really enjoyed the gameplay. It is nothing compared to older Batman games, but i really liked it!
I liked it! I think it’s biggest issue is that it wasn’t “Arkham-ish” enough for a fan base that expected it. Also today’s video game fan hates everything.
8:19 you have to do Lucious fox missions for a clear explanation on mods idk if it’s a side mission or not. As for making the gameplay easier, with the right build the game is essentially easy mode no matter what difficulty and feels a lot closer to the Arkham games once you max everything out. The sense of accomplishment from maxing out is there for a while but the game falls flat on its face in the end unfortunately
There's a lot to like in the game. It has some interesting gear concepts with villain motifs, the playable characters are ALL people Arkham players wanted in a game, and brought us co-op. I think it was... okay. Salvageable, and this rings especially true if what we got is because they yanked a whole ton of microtransactions and live service features out of the game before it launched. I just can't help but imagine the game we COULD have got if those features had never been put into the game in the first place. The idea of a game with Arkham design and combat, with playable Batgirl and all three Robins, is amazing. Different fighting styles, different combos, different techniques and gadgets, it honestly sounds amazing. And while I understand that they went with more of an RPG system for this game, I lament that decision and hope that despite its poor reception, one day we can get the Gotham Knights we deserve.
I will blame the traversal always, I thought the combat was pretty good, over top of the dull level design just arkhams basic traversal would’ve made the game that much better but grappling is horrible and the vehicle gliding variety is not fair and must be grounded out per character which is weird yet everyone uses the same motorcycle
Something I think is pretty crazy is this game came out around the time of Kevin Conroys death and I chose to see this game as a sort of coping game for the fans who grew up with him as Batman even though it’s not him voicing Batman I still like the game and find it WAY more respectful of Kevin’s tenure as the dark knight then THAT GAME
Surprisingly enough I beat the game AND New Game +...the only word I have for it is MEDIOCRE. It clearly had some potential but the game had too much fluff and not enough substance Unnecessary mechanics like crafting, RPG loot and grinds The combat had little to no depth, the story was CW-level of writing (for better and worse) and the missions had little to no variety
I tried to play it when it was first made available on PS Plus and I fell through the map on 3 different occasions in the first 20 minutes of play. Uninstalled the game and never looked back. lol
I enjoyed it but I'm not an idiot I paid £3 for my copy so even though my experience was not so bad if I paid that full RRP at launch I would be refunding faster then light 😅 So made sure to cover that in the video.
@@Guyinthetie like the story makes sense, instead of ras al gul, nightfall protocol, code black to the bat family but Jason, gets reached out by one of them then court of owls. Simple story
I’m sure there were plans for DLC’s for Gotham Knights. They must of waited and see how the game turns out. Since the game didn’t do well we never got it. Rocksteady jumped the gun and thought the suicide squad was going to be successful and they already working on the DLC’s before the game was even released. They must of regretted on the DLC’s since they are losing more money because of it.
@@Guyinthetie kinda 1's boss fights are kinda meh nowadays but the open world is still More the funnest things to explore and cause chaos and the second one has better bosses but the character still controls horribly when your inside a building and your trying to fight something
Did you know there was some concept art that was revealed early last year that showed off Catwoman, Damien Wayne, Solomon Grundy, and The Architect that we're most likely planned to be in the game? As much as I don't like this game, or Damien, for that matter, I'm kind of sad that they weren't included either in the Base game or as DLC. Selina and Damien are important BatFam members (BatCat for the win), and Solomon Grundy is a cool, big brute type of character that, because the game is severely lacking in the villain department, in terms of both quanity and quality, he would've been great to see again. Plus, fighting Talia as Selina or Damien, even if the boss fight is utter rubbish, would still carry such weight. Not so much the Architect, even as much as i appreciate, whenever a comic book movie, game, show, etc, utilises an underutilised villain, he feels a bit random.
I played through fully as Red Hood, and it kinda felt like the game was tailored to Red Hood. Hes got the most personal connection with the Lazarus Pit
Throughout comic book character history, some earlier characters just couldnt "make it" into the comtemporary zeitgeist Some are lucky to endure, and some newer ones gets to shine in the limelight as well, but not necessarily gain the iconic status yet I wonder how or who it will be in the future to be a fandom darling
I disagree with your stance on the cutscene. It’s too long. It should’ve transitioned into the tutorial, where you play as Batman to learn the basic controls. Cutscenes shouldn’t be ten minuets long. This is a video game, not a movie.
The game isn't bad; the problem is that WB made it feel associated with the Rocksteady games and that set consumer expectations. It's a completely different feeling, direction and outlook. It's unfair that it got compared to the Arkham series and WB should have known better.
It's not bad but for the price it's asking for people would rather get a "great" game instead, you don't get praised for being not horrible at something, you get praised because you are good at something after all.
I had to abandon the video before the spoilers... But, only because you convinced me to update it and give it another shot! It's way better than I gave it credit for!!!
It's kinda insane, when both where revealed I had 0 hopes for Gotham knights while SS kill the justice league looked like it would follow up on the epicness of arkham knight.. Now I tried GK and did not like it.. But at least it was just very bland and meh... The less said about how SS turned out the better..
The premise of this game is a solid one, but it just wasn't polished enough (which is in part a result of trying to rework a live service game mid-development).
29:38 I'm sorry, but what difficulty did you play on for that to happen with Talia at all? The strength of the enemies are always relative to your current level and power (unless you just started new game plus, but that changed as you get further in), so I really don't understand how you did that much damage to her. Granted, I played robin (personal fav to play) on my first playthrough.
I played on medium, surprised that's the case as when my gear wasn't optimised I got stomped by the enemies I know they scale with your level but gear doesn't seem to factor from what I can see 💪🏻👔
@@Guyinthetie Yea I'm probably wrong on the gear part. To be honest, I realized that I don't really remember how that boss went down with robin all too well, so my experience probably was the same as yours. I do remember that I struggled with Talia on every other character, besides red hood since I saved him for my last playthrough, and they were stronger than my robin during their playthrough.
Prior to launch, I was super salty that Steam was the ONLY platform that didn't allow pre-loading of the game. The ONLY one. No explanation was ever given. Probably a result of backroom politicking and who kissed up to WB the most, and crap like that. And on a separate note, mods made this game very... ahem, CULTURED. XD
No, the league of shadows doesn’t create Man Bat. The dude who was murdered in beginning of the game Kurt Lankstrum is who is man bat and is the one who is Man Bat.
The gear stuff is just so stupid. If you don't upgrade it, then you will get arbitrarily one shot and have to do 100 combos on a basic grunt to take people down.. It doesn't belong in a Batman game... And the cherry on top is of you don't have good enough gear, you can't even do stealth takedowns on enemies, just an initial critical hit. The bike is stupid slow, and traversal is so slow even with the extra mobility powers. The combat doesn't flow well and is just a slog, and the DLCs only exasperate this, as they are focused specifically on combat, not to mention the ways certain floors are designed, they're literally impossible to beat solo regardless of skill proficiency and gear, simply due to never ending waves of basic grunts.
this is going to get me crucified, but i honestly prefer Gotham Knights over at least Arkham Knight. not saying one is better than the other, but Gotham Knights feels more streamlined and simpler. i got a quicker grasp on the mechanics than i did in Arkham Knight, and even after playing AK for hours, i still fumble with the controls. the simplicity of Gotham Knights is what makes it fun imo. the free flow could absolutely use some work, but once you figure out the upgrades and controls, it plays very similarly. it also depends on who you play as- in my experience, playing as Nightwing makes it easier to dodge Talons' and Assassins' attacks. i haven't played as Robin or Batgirl yet, mostly because my favorite characters are easily Red Hood and Nightwing. but your playing experience definitely changes based on your knowledge and experience with the mechanics. i found myself easily jumping around fights and finding different ways i could attack and approach groups of enemies, and whenever i messed up, i could pretty easily see where and how i messed up and figure out how i could fix it. my biggest complaints are with some events and bosses that feels too... punishing? like when the Court dumps you into that firey death pit or even the labyrinth. but the bosses, imo, were also well balanced- it was hard but not overly so, and you could pretty quickly figure out where you went wrong. in my opinion, the story is pretty mid, but mostly in the way of missed opportunities, such as not including Nightwings connection to the Court that's present in the comics. it could've made the Court feel more involved and personal. the story definitely isn't bad, but it's not particularly memorable. the best part of the story is, i think, the characters themselves. they're all very unique, both in terms of personality and design. some complain about them (particularly Jasons design, though i honestly really like it), but i honestly don't have anything to complain about besides some mid skins. where the characters shine the most is definitely their interactions with each other. it's so, so fun listening to them banter and talk when you're just sitting in the Belfry. it's nice to take a break to eat and hear them interact. the cutscenes are fun too, and really show a lot of their characters. the graphics also aren't bad imo, the biggest thing people aren't used to is that it's stylized. the Arkham games have a unique style to them, and so does Gotham Knights. there's definitely places it could be better, but it's not bad, just unique in a way people aren't used to seeing. though Gotham definitely DOES need to be more gothic. overall, i really, really like Gotham Knights. there's definitely flaws- mid story, Gotham needs more detail, etc- but i wouldn't go so far as to say it's BAD. it's simple, gets the point across, and has a ton of replayability and isn't punishing at all. overall i think it comes down to what you prefer. i massively prefer simpler games like Gotham Knights, so i very much enjoy how it plays. i think the biggest detriment to how it was received were the bugs at launch and how everyone expected it to be another Arkham game. i've even heard that people expected you to play as Batman?? idk man loll. generally i think people were just really close minded about Gotham Knights, and just wanted another typical Batman game that played the same as everything else. is it perfect? no. are the Arkham games good as hell? absolutely! but i think we should let studios try something different, and punishing studios for doing just that probably made sure that we won't get another unique game. on top of that, WB seems to refuse to actually use the batfamily, and the one time they did (Gotham Knights), it crashed and burned. so i have the sneaking suspicion that we might not get another batfamily-focused game for a long time. anyways. game was good imo, people were way too harsh on it for being unique. does it have flaws? yes. should it have gotten such bad reception? absolutely not. i expected it to be a complete drag when i got it, and was pleasantly surprised when i played for 12 hours every day for 4 days straight. i can't play games much anymore, so that was the first time in years i was able to play a game for so long. last time i did, i was playing Halo 2 when i was a kid lol. Gotham Knights was punished very unfairly.
Could you do Bloodborne video please? I would love to see it but I noticed that your souls videos aren't getting many views sadly. Watching you since the Arkham videos, loving what you do✌️
Yeah not as much as some but honestly doesn't stop me from doing vids if I want to, honestly the Bloodborne vid will most likely happen when we get it running on PC well or finally get that remaster 💪🏻👔
Personally I enjoyed the game a lot. I played Co-Op with a close friend and that made the game infinitely more fun, but I can def see how playing single player might be boring or not as memorable.
I beat the game 3 times I loved it. I can tell you each character is so unique. You’ll appreciate it. My first round I played with batgirl, and second time I just rotated them. Robin probably play the most like Batman
I haven't even finished the game, and despite what people say, I actually like it. And here's my reason. It doesn't feel like how would batman defend gotham city, but rather, how would I defend gotham city. Now, if only we had a moon knight mod for this game like in arkham city and arkham knight.
To be fair, I don't think Gotham Knights and Arkham: Origins are a good comparison. Arkham: Origins is a good and funny game, it's merely not as good as the main series but is still great in its own right; the only ones who genuinely not like it are the really vocal minority of the playerbase that can't get over its bias due to it not having been developed by Rocksteady. It's different from Gotham Knights, which has been generically disliked.
I loved Arkham Origins and to be honest I enjoyed Gotham knights. I only didn't like the fact that Batman wasn't in it some other minor things. I loved how all the characters played differently...Just wished that they provided some DLC and the Bat-Cycle were too slow.
I enjoyed it and the reason this game got so much hate was because of its poor optimisation and they Killed Batman for no reason they could’ve easily brought him back to life in the end and make him playable
I really enjoyed this game. Especially because the NPCs react to each character a little differently. I do with they would have put Damian in it though.

in my opinion i enjoyed the game but I think what killed Gotham knights was the fact it was so heavily compared to the rocksteady batman games. I enjoyed it mostly because I always wanted to play as red hood in a video game and I thought the story was okay defiantly not the best but I defiantly feel like there were some missed opportunities in there and I think it was just miss handled mostly, and a bit rushed.
Completely agree, it was either mishandled or rushed as there are great moments in the game just few and far between 💪🏻👔
The reason why traversal is so slow especially the bike was because the devs couldn't get the map to load fast enough whilst also keeping a consistent fps. So they actually made the batcycle top speed 40mph 😂😂😂
Batgirl looks so cool
They should've put that on the box 💪🏻👔
Yea I think that's it.
If it was 60fps on consoles they scaled the mmo shit and made a proper rpg and the twist is Batman comes back it would of been a gem.
Batgirls cake is the reason to not drop this game immediately play this game
Gyattham Knights😭
One of the few games where the cake was in fact not a lie 👀
The robot T-Rex is a trophy from a story called, " Dinosaur Island". Batman #35. 1945..🦇🦇🦇🦇👍
Bro doesn’t know about the dinosaur in the Batcave… causal
You didn’t mention the two free expansions. Repetitive but more leaning into co op. Had a co op boss rush too
I do like the game and play it now and then for a couple of hours, i just chill out and explore and do a few missions.....i like batgirls fighting style and the outfits look great.
I do wish there was more to do in Gotham once the story is done though, there is only a handful of speed challenges and Bruce's batarangs to find 💪🏻👔
Oh well there goes any chance of Nightwing and Redhood getting their own a solo games. They'll be relegated to supporting roles in whatever Batman game we get 10 years from now.
Man I'd kill for a red hood game 💀
@@Guyinthetie Not if it's like Gotham Knights.
I remember saying the following in the lead up to launch. "If it succeeds then every DC game going will be Rpg-lite looter crap and if it fails hopefully we go back to the traditional single-player narrative driven experience without the fluff".
The moment the numbers popped up in the gameplay reveal after avengers and that gameplay demo in April 2022 I knew it was curtains for this game.
Instead we have to play with the worst game ever Catwoman
in the dc animated universe. i believe "Son of Batman", Deathstroke was i control of the league of assassin's oro shadows and had created an army of Man-Bats.
2:42 WB: “Yes ..& Yes!”
🤣🤣
Yet somehow still better then Suicide Squad KTJL
Looks so much better than KTJL
No argument here! Love the style in this game 💪🏻👔
That moment when batgirl looked at the camera mid photo mode was scary asf. 😟😟😟 but yea batgirl is very pretty in this game. 😁😈😈🍑🍑🍑
15:02 all crimes have someone to interrogate, you have to scan the goons before you kill them to find out which one of them it is
It wasn't that bad. 6 out of 10. The story was average, and the gameplay was OK. I didn't like the grind and repetitive crimes and how all 4 characters were very similar play style.
I don't like to do rating systems but I'd be more 4 or 5 it's middle of the road for me for sure 💪🏻👔
You're going to laugh. I think it was supposed to be a game as a service and that they changed their mind at the end of the development. It feels unfinished like if they had planned some more content after launch. More gear level and stats, more customization, a better MODS fusion system, maybe some more side story missions etc.
That's surely a gameplay loop that can't possibly fail 🤔
Jokes aside looking at the building blocks for Gotham knights I completely agree with you, at least they had the sense to backpedal on it 👔
After suicide sqaud came out...
Yeah its alright
I guess SSKTJL did do something right for WB 💪🏻👔
0:48 Damn... That's the best Harley has ever looked.
The skin was wild 💪🏻👔
I wanted this game to work so bad the combat just needed tweaks and we needed more boss battles. And certain gameplay mechanics needed to be either changed or deleted
What I always find interesting is this is a multiplayer game but I have never seen anyone playing it as such.
I watched some while writing the script.. looked like it ran worse then early DC universe online 💪🏻👔
4:20 the dinosaur actually is comic accurate
Arkham origins while being made by WB studio and not rocksteady, it was closely monitored by rocksteady and they even shared features from Arkham knight to origins.
If the whole game was about Batman VS Ras Alghoul like the opening it would have been absolute 🔥
Honestly that would be so dope! Shame these two fighting for 10mins at the start of the game is the best part 💪🏻👔
That was the best part of Gotham Knights. It really increased the disappointment
Yes, Rocksteady and WB Montreal's greatest weakness was always finding a way to make Joker one of the most important characters.
I got it for 12$ last year
I liked it. I had to constantly remind myself that it wasn’t Arkham.
Honestly not a bad purchase at that price, anything above $20 is too much imo 💪🏻👔
Seriously, you don't know about the T. Rex he kept in the Batcave?
The pun at 5:00 just earned you a like and follow
To me, it wasnt. I refunded the game whenevr it got so much hate, but recently bought it again on ps5 and really enjoyed the gameplay. It is nothing compared to older Batman games, but i really liked it!
I liked it! I think it’s biggest issue is that it wasn’t “Arkham-ish” enough for a fan base that expected it. Also today’s video game fan hates everything.
“Yes”
*Sees thumbnail*
“No” 😌
Just came here to say “Yes, it was”.
If we're talking about the Arkham games, the t-rex is in the same museum as the shark.
The only place I will accept Livin' La Vida Loca in media is shrek 2 💅
8:19 you have to do Lucious fox missions for a clear explanation on mods idk if it’s a side mission or not. As for making the gameplay easier, with the right build the game is essentially easy mode no matter what difficulty and feels a lot closer to the Arkham games once you max everything out. The sense of accomplishment from maxing out is there for a while but the game falls flat on its face in the end unfortunately
The concept of batman dying is great, the fact they had to revive him, undermines the legacy fact, it becomes a predictable story sadly
Costumes were A1 tho
Would’ve played if it wasn’t 30fps on consoles. I’m still confused why 60fps isn’t the standard on these “next gen” consoles. 😤
Honestly man I completely get that! 💪🏻👔
Surprisingly enough I beat the game AND New Game +...the only word I have for it is MEDIOCRE. It clearly had some potential but the game had too much fluff and not enough substance
Unnecessary mechanics like crafting, RPG loot and grinds
The combat had little to no depth, the story was CW-level of writing (for better and worse) and the missions had little to no variety
The gang missions were the worst for me they were bland to play and a grind to unlock 💪🏻👔
I tried to play it when it was first made available on PS Plus and I fell through the map on 3 different occasions in the first 20 minutes of play. Uninstalled the game and never looked back. lol
The League of Shadows making Men Bats is a plot point in one of three New 52 DC animated Batman Movies
When I bought Gotham Knights, I felt scammed
I enjoyed it but I'm not an idiot I paid £3 for my copy so even though my experience was not so bad if I paid that full RRP at launch I would be refunding faster then light 😅
So made sure to cover that in the video.
I have paid 40€ for Catwoman.. Long time ago..
In reality, I thought to myself pretty much the aftermath of Arkham knight makes more sense
Definitely better than SSKTJL
Tbh it really could've been but instead we got.... SSKTJL 💀
Please review prototype 1 and 2 they are such fun super heroe games and don't see them talked about as much as they need to be
I remember really digging prototype 1 but never got around to the sequel... They hold up then?
Oh this game needed Catwoman! The Devs would've cooked with her on the story and with the umm.. models 👀
@Guyinthetie oh for sure. They cooked with Barbara, they would've done the same with Selina.
this video is such a high quality for someone with less than 10k subs. wont be long till the channel takes off
I played through fully as Red Hood, and it kinda felt like the game was tailored to Red Hood. Hes got the most personal connection with the Lazarus Pit
Throughout comic book character history, some earlier characters just couldnt "make it" into the comtemporary zeitgeist
Some are lucky to endure, and some newer ones gets to shine in the limelight as well, but not necessarily gain the iconic status yet
I wonder how or who it will be in the future to be a fandom darling
Agreed get it on a discount to experience the title but don't pay that RRP.. or buy that ridiculously priced skin pack 💀
@@GuyinthetieAnd I forget that this game released the same year as Elden Ring and Gow Ragnarok, yeah this game stand no chance
Gotham Knights felt like it wanted to be DC Online but didn't want to commit to the live service model.
Kinda feel like damien should have been in the game somewhere. How you kill bruce and don't bring in his one biological child
One was mid but inoffensive SSKTJL was not only trash but had the audacity to ruin a great storyline 15 years on the making...
I unironically always love the Bat-Person Power-Rangers and hope a good game is made for them that INCLUDES batman.
this is going to get me crucified, but i honestly prefer Gotham Knights over at least Arkham Knight. not saying one is better than the other, but Gotham Knights feels more streamlined and simpler. i got a quicker grasp on the mechanics than i did in Arkham Knight, and even after playing AK for hours, i still fumble with the controls. the simplicity of Gotham Knights is what makes it fun imo. the free flow could absolutely use some work, but once you figure out the upgrades and controls, it plays very similarly. it also depends on who you play as- in my experience, playing as Nightwing makes it easier to dodge Talons' and Assassins' attacks. i haven't played as Robin or Batgirl yet, mostly because my favorite characters are easily Red Hood and Nightwing. but your playing experience definitely changes based on your knowledge and experience with the mechanics. i found myself easily jumping around fights and finding different ways i could attack and approach groups of enemies, and whenever i messed up, i could pretty easily see where and how i messed up and figure out how i could fix it. my biggest complaints are with some events and bosses that feels too... punishing? like when the Court dumps you into that firey death pit or even the labyrinth. but the bosses, imo, were also well balanced- it was hard but not overly so, and you could pretty quickly figure out where you went wrong.
in my opinion, the story is pretty mid, but mostly in the way of missed opportunities, such as not including Nightwings connection to the Court that's present in the comics. it could've made the Court feel more involved and personal. the story definitely isn't bad, but it's not particularly memorable. the best part of the story is, i think, the characters themselves. they're all very unique, both in terms of personality and design. some complain about them (particularly Jasons design, though i honestly really like it), but i honestly don't have anything to complain about besides some mid skins. where the characters shine the most is definitely their interactions with each other. it's so, so fun listening to them banter and talk when you're just sitting in the Belfry. it's nice to take a break to eat and hear them interact. the cutscenes are fun too, and really show a lot of their characters.
the graphics also aren't bad imo, the biggest thing people aren't used to is that it's stylized. the Arkham games have a unique style to them, and so does Gotham Knights. there's definitely places it could be better, but it's not bad, just unique in a way people aren't used to seeing. though Gotham definitely DOES need to be more gothic.
overall, i really, really like Gotham Knights. there's definitely flaws- mid story, Gotham needs more detail, etc- but i wouldn't go so far as to say it's BAD. it's simple, gets the point across, and has a ton of replayability and isn't punishing at all. overall i think it comes down to what you prefer. i massively prefer simpler games like Gotham Knights, so i very much enjoy how it plays. i think the biggest detriment to how it was received were the bugs at launch and how everyone expected it to be another Arkham game. i've even heard that people expected you to play as Batman?? idk man loll. generally i think people were just really close minded about Gotham Knights, and just wanted another typical Batman game that played the same as everything else. is it perfect? no. are the Arkham games good as hell? absolutely! but i think we should let studios try something different, and punishing studios for doing just that probably made sure that we won't get another unique game. on top of that, WB seems to refuse to actually use the batfamily, and the one time they did (Gotham Knights), it crashed and burned. so i have the sneaking suspicion that we might not get another batfamily-focused game for a long time.
anyways. game was good imo, people were way too harsh on it for being unique. does it have flaws? yes. should it have gotten such bad reception? absolutely not. i expected it to be a complete drag when i got it, and was pleasantly surprised when i played for 12 hours every day for 4 days straight. i can't play games much anymore, so that was the first time in years i was able to play a game for so long. last time i did, i was playing Halo 2 when i was a kid lol. Gotham Knights was punished very unfairly.
I actually really wanted this game but it was next Gen only. I despise sulclde squad,
It is really bad I’ve been playing it I bought it for £2. Combat is really crappy and so is the transversal jumps
6:11 my boy shooting blanks 😭🙏
I’ve only played this game with my best friend and after seeing this video, I 100% believe this game was meant to be played as a duo
Yes, it was
I enjoyed it and the reason this game got so much hate was because of its poor optimisation and they Killed Batman for no reason they could’ve easily brought him back to life in the end and make him playable
My only problem with the game was that we didn't get Damien Wayne as a playable character
I really enjoyed this game. Especially because the NPCs react to each character a little differently. I do with they would have put Damian in it though.
