"Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods" is the eleventh episode of the second season of the American animated television series South Park. The 24th episode of the series overall, it originally aired on Comedy Central in the United States on September 2, 1998. The episode was written by series co-creator Trey Parker, along with David Goodman, and directed by Parker. It spoofs the Star Trek episode "Dagger of the Mind". In the episode, the boys visit a planetarium; they soon discover that the operator has sinister intentions involving brainwashing. Meanwhile, Cartman auditions to sing on the Cheesy Poofs advertisement. The episode marks the first speaking role of Leopold "Butters" Stotch, who would become a major character on the show.

The Star Trek episode they parody here, Dagger of the Mind (1967) is pretty good. It starred James Gregory, who played a great recurring role on Barney Miller (1975), one of the best and funniest shows ever made.

This episode was Grandma Cartman's debut. The Charlie Manson episode was later in the season. Sadly she died prior to "Cartmanland" in season 5 (2001).

This episode is a truncated version of a season 1 Star Trek Episode (that is Star Trek TOS) called Dagger of the Mind. That episode is the first episode where Spock performs a a mind meld. The name of Dr Addams(and his outfit), Van Gelder, the design of the little girl and consol Addamsuses, dialogue(Stan's end speech) even the name of the planetarium are ripped right from that episode. Siskel And Ebert famously HATED South Park. So when they wrote this episode they took a chance to take a shot at Ebert. This is episode is my favorite episode of season 2. JFC Matt and Trey with the Latin😂😂

There's an Episode i Always forget to recommend watching, called "The China Problem", season 12 episode 8, it's a very dark south Park Episode similiar to the Kathleen Kennedy Special. From this Out of the way I still really Love this season, it aged pretty Well👍
Yeah, especially since China and its people are still vilified in the news as being authoritarian, yet the US isn’t much of the same. The only difference is they don’t show it publicly.

The title of this episode was basically to have a dig at Roger Ebert because he gave BASEketball a bad review. We saw a glimpse of Cartman’s sociopathic ways which became prominent in Scott Tenorman Must Die with lying to the poor and hungry mother and daughter into leaving the singing competition.
I’ve been a big fan of you from the beginning, Toli…until you decided my name (Theodore) was worthy of ridicule (12:51). Just kidding. I’m still a fan. After all, I need some humor to cheer me up in between struggling to overcome my fear of talking to people, emptying my aunt’s bed pan, chemo treatments for me and my aunt, and regular visits to my parents’ grave.
