I've had this discussion before. Wether the seat is up or down, it's a non-issue for men. If we need to go nr.2 we put it down. If we need to go nr.1 we don't care if it's up or down. It's literally only women who complain about it not being down. The only reason it's up in the first place is because they want it up when men go nr.1. The only real justification I've ever seen that men can also just sit down to go nr.1, so no one ever needs to put it up. These women must have never had a biology class. Men have a hose between their legs.

I can’t imagine how some people really not look before sitting down. When I want to use any bathroom, the toilet is the first thing I want to look at and I still check the seat just to make sure there isn’t pee on it.

Equality. There are two aspects to the toilet seat. Half the job is puting it up, the other is putting it down. If I have to put it up to keep it clean, it's fair she puts it down. I would argue her half is easier thanks to gravity assisting.
