had it once that i sent in one to fight they taunt they die i take the winner they taunt they die and that happened around 20-30 rounds until i finally won
well there needs to be tweeks to the fight pit AI anyways, seems to me that sometimes my uruks just die becuase they were standing there scratching their nut sacks instead of trying to fight.
all uruks are becoming dumb af in pits staring each other attacking other group members or animals instead of captains. But when it comes to attacking you suddeny they become a spartan solider
And the preset animations that they normally use when fighting (like when they swing, the other blocks and counters, and the first ducks, rather than both just swinging blindly at the same time) don't even transfer status effects. I SAW THE AXE GO IN YOU, YOU SHOULD BE POISONED NOW.
Every time I send an archer into the pits he doesn’t even fire his crossbow, he just either uses it as a melee weapon or keeps loading it and just never fires.
If you have archer marksman with all ranged special skills he will never go to melee on his own, always backpedals and tries to shoot. Only thing that FORCES him to go melee is if he faces an uruk who is arrow proof. As the trait says ''arrow proof'' orcs are immune to ranged so all your archer can do is go melee and smack em.
@@sympunny8636 Well i noticed when i sent my marksman to fight arrow proof orcs....all he did was go in and melee him. So go figure...otherwise he never meleed.
I got a guy called "The Maniac"(Because of shaming). He is a warrior berserker, that has a bag on his head from comeback(He killed me twice and died once from my follower, when he wasn't that good). A ton of hates, including "Enraged by everything", and some other cool shit. Unfortunately, no epic traits, but in the pitfights he is just spamming feral claws, rampage and chokeslams. He is absolutely OP in pits, and almost as good vs player. He is truly a maniac, he only laughs in the face of his opponents, that and the bag on his head make him really scary. And only a few days before, he was just an annoying slave, that somehow managed to get a lucky hit...
@@WikterRor2807 I had an orc like that. He also had the Ambusher trait. So the only time I ever saw him was in other missions or when hunting/fighting other captains So hed tackle me, talk all this shit about hunting me and how ill never escape him. Combat would then begin and hed instantly start screaming and running. I never killed him because he always made me laugh
Actually, it's perfectly acceptable for an Uruk to have a Beast Fodder weakness if he also has the Beast Slayer bonus trait. The only beast he could take damage from is a Drake, and that's a pretty rare occurence.
I have this one berserker with enraged by everything and great strength. he's incredibly strong but has a huge downside, he killed 2 of my other captains in one siege...
José de gruiter If he is a bodyguard remove him. If a berserker gets enraged he targets enemies and of there aren't any he will attack friends. If he is a warchief remove his bodyguards or he will keep attacking them.
Hoshû Eyeplopper well... He might've betrayed me... Kicked my ass once because he came when I fought 2 other captains, killed me and got iron will, i shamed him he resisted the shame and changed his name to the unashamed I shamed him twice more, he became deranged and then I killed him out of mercy...
7:43 if you are playing on Gravewalker difficulty, then most definitely get vigilant against stealth because sometimes the only thing you can do to damage a captain is to sprint out of combat then repeatedly stealth attack the target.
A particularly lethal Overlord + Bodyguard combo: Look for an Overlord immune to everything except for one element (forget stealth immunity, doesn’t matter). Then assign two Commanders as his bodyguards, both with the Warder trait that the Overlord needs. Behold! An Overlord immune to everything, constantly enraged orcs due to War Banners or death of the Commanders, and if you go so far as to get a Necromancer, the dead are rising.
Four years late but, a much better Combination is to have a fire preferable marauder berserker as overlord with 2 mystic hunters. Reason to go with the mystic marksman is because they will never fight you head on, and because they are mystic while your busy fighting the berserker they can use the mystic blade move, if too much is happening on screen it won’t slow down to let you time your dodge
I would love for Monolith to add some sort of Uruk Creator, where you can create/build your own Uruks following some sort of point system. For instance: You start with 5 points for abilities and each time you add a Strength you lose points and when you add a weakness you gain points, this is to keep the balance.
Lord McDude to get points and types/classes you need to use training orders and uruk sacrifices. For example to give necromancy to a new uruk you need to have sacrified 8 other necromancers.
Lord McDude I just wish someone made an Uruk training program where you could give an Uruk any stats (even combinations that are impossible in game) and be able to test them in the pits. That would be pretty cool.
Christopher Davis, someone has. There's a cheat engine table for it. It can get you banned, and if you go too crazy with it, then it definitely will get you banned, but it's exactly what you described.
+Mad Max Rockatansky funnily enough you've practically just described a bloody uruk I'm having the worst time trying to take down. Legendary defender fortress leader (terror tribe) with gang of ologs, afraid of f*cking flies and vulnerable to stealth, immune to executions and frost (FREAKING FROST!), enraged by lethal damage. But I know this guy can't be cheating because IT'S THE BLOODY AI. So I guess he could get that "lucky"... But yeah the cheat engine is also possible. In fact the reason I'm having to re-do everything is because I pirated a copy so I can test the cheat engine precisely to see what combinations can be better (remember kids: when using the cheat engine make sure to NOT do it on your steam account, it can and will get you banned, even if you only do it offline, the steam anti-cheat AI sees everything and is an utter *****) and I can already tell you my very first "experiment" made me realize you can indeed give a single captain ALL 8 IMMUNITIES without any glitches or issues resulting from it except that since the list has a maximum of 7 items the last one you add won't be shown on-screen (but WILL affect how he plays) so... yeah you can pretty much create the bloody terminator with cheat engine, but I'm fairly sure that'd get you banned about as fast as anyone sees him because there's no freaking way the game drops that by chance.
The most annoying Captin I had to face was a frost proof, arrow-proof, vault breaker, trickster, with a poison sword, and had doppelgangers. He's my overlord now.
I found a legendary fiery dark trickster captain that was damaged by execution, beasts and poison, but was immune to arrows, fire, curse, and stealth, and had vault breaker, savage counter (counters all frontal attacks), and no chance among many other things. I got rekt a few times, tried again and summoned a graug. It died in about 5 seconds because I didn't notice that he also had beast slayer. I had to fill up wrath & might and summon a high level bodyguard, then shame him 3 times to recruit him. If he ever turns into a traitor, I'll delete the game and never playing again.
@@jibrailhattar190 Just spam glaive and elven might (take away the element upgrade) over and over again. do this: Glaive -> hit him a few times when he is down on the ground -> glaive again -> elven might -:>glaive or hit if he is stunned you can stunlock pretty much everyone like this.
Thw strongest I've faced is my bodyguard after he died from a hacked in pits hes named golm the crazy hes legendary has epic rage and increased to and hes berser so enraged by everything and hes immune to frost fire and poison so I spent like 20 mins spamming arrows to knock him down and punch
@@jibrailhattar190 Thats basically what the legendary Terminator warchief was for me, I had to use the glaive to whittle him down for like 10 minutes lmao
I once made one Uruk to my Bodyguard. When I summoned him, he did not came. Soon I noticed an Enemy Captain behind me, on top of a Waggon. He cannot jump down or something, so he is trapped on that Waggon. The thing is: we are in my Fort. He is lost, literally the only enemy in 800 feet or something radius. His Intro was like "Am I right here for a Jobinterview? I heared you need a Bodyguard" xD ... sadly i got almost killed by him, failing like an idiot. He had "No Chance". But the 10-20 allied hunters threw shit at him so he couldnt even perform his No Chance xD Lucky af right there. He got beaten up like me in my childhood. *starts sobbing in a corner, whispering "I dont want that lunchmoney, take it, take it" in bruz's voice*
I've got a follower called Golm the Legendary, he's a level 65 savage with no weaknesses, legendary, a shitton of epic traits, and the No Chance trait. I've got him as my Overlord alongside an Epic level 65 bodyguard also with the No Chance trait and enraged by everything, and I've yet to be notified of anyone successfully conquering my fortress with him in it. Once you get knocked down by either of these guys who are really difficult to fight, it's all over immediately. I actually had to get three of my best captains on a mission together to be able to defeat and recruit him because he killed me so much.
seeing how deep these classes are really makes me want a middle earth game where we can make our own uruk and try to rise up to be an overlord. i think that would be so damn cool with all of the different options they have
A minor, but VERY important note on Curse when it comes to Uruks, Curse works differently on Uruks than it does on the player, here is what it does based on my own observations: At first glance Curse is the weakest Ailment you can it on an Orc, and yet despite this almost every Mystic Tribe Orc are immune to Curse, bit strange, yes? That is because curse is not meant to be just a DOT, in fact Curse has the weakest DOT and shortest effect of all the ailments in the game, and despite this Curse can be the most powerful effect you can put on an Orc, because curse increases all other forms of damage an Orc takes. The amount increased varies by the type of damage, with the other DOT's receiving a noticeable buff to both damage and duration while Curse is going, in one instance I inflicted curse and then just after detonated a barrel of poisoned grog creating an explosion of Balefire on a captain, he lost almost half his health from the Balefire DOT alone, a bit of testing by hitting him with another Balefire explosion when he was not cursed showed that he took visibly less damage, also when checking his weaknesses he was not weak to, enraged by or immune to any of the 3 DOT types. Normal attacks also deal more damage though it's harder to spot since you usually have to hit multiple times to see life bar movement anyway and criticals can also make it difficult to tell the difference. Ranged attacks does see the least payoff from the get-go since they already hit hard enough as it is, and this hold true for orcs as well, though if you combine curse with Explosive shot you will be able to let an Orc take advantage of the Curse boost to the Fire DOT damage. For players you have a bow that deal A LOT more damage to Orcs if they are cursed, and we are talking mid 50% to 60% extra damage, by far the highest damage amplification effect you can have, aside from that, not much of an noticeable effect. Stealth, this one I have honestly never been able to test since you lose stealth if you inflict damage to an Orc and since you need to damage them to curse them... yeah it's been difficult for me to test, also pretty irrelevant in Orc Vs Orc fights since orcs don't do assassinations unless you yourself are ordering your Orc bodyguard/summoned followers to do so. Orc Grunts that get cursed will ALWAYS run away in a panic, which is pretty nifty, especially if you like to use the Terror Set. Addendum: Curse on it's lonesome is pretty much worthless and should as much as be paired up with other DOT effects to let it's full potential out, because of this Curse is useful to put on the bodyguards of Warchiefs that already have another form of DOT damage, if you have to give them to a lone Orc, put it on Orcs that are very aggressive and attack a lot, but for some reason does not hit very hard to allow them to take advantage of the Damage increase that the Curse DOT gives. Also Undead CAN apply to the pits if the Captain with the Hate Undead are facing an Undead Captain not only that but Necromancer DOES work in the pits, however the Necromancer needs to be left alone long enough to pull it off, as such ranged attackers such as Archers and hunters tend to be the best at this stuff, also it will, for obvious reasons, only work if there are grunts around to actually raise.
Lunaraia curse also applies what the devs call a fear bomb. If you curse a big area of orcs they run away scared. I use throwing daggers to curse enemies and use the daggers that spread out to hit a wide range of enemies and spread the effect. Anyone I typically hit with curse almost immediately runs away except for captains. Great to scare off grunts if there are too many around
And it completely drains a players mana (I forgot if it was called that) preventing them from: Climbing, running, slowing time when shooting or seeing the minimap. Pretty useful if you ask me about it, even for orcs. And by running and climbing I mean using elven speed to be faster.
I don't think anyone has mentioned this, even here in your theses of curse: curse not only does the things you've said, but also the affected urik loses all immunities for the duration. Try it. I love cursing an urik that is arrow-proof/fear of pinning, or who has been frost-proof every time I try to freeze him. So... curse, much more useful than one might think, yeah?
I once had a... questionable experience in the fight pits trying to infiltrate an olog as a war chief spy, he was fighting a guy who was legendary, 10 levels above him, and riding a dire caragor. I thought my guy was dead but for some reason the one he was fighting literally just sat there not even trying to attack as my olog slowly killed his caragor and then proceeded to falcon punch him to death
If you decide to build an olog the tribe does not matter because ologs don't have tribe traits like hail of bolts or terror chains etc. They can't use them
Before my game got erased, I had an archer with explosive shots and bombs, and an elite gang of archers also with explosive shots. In the pits it was like a non stop artillery barrage right out of the gate on whoever they caught. The enemy could barely take two steps without being bombarded to hell.
Something I find neat with Trappers is how well they pair with Destroyers, since I find it becomes really hard to dodge their traps, especially if the Destroyer can throw several bombs, but on their own I find their often a mild annoyance unless their a Hunter or Archer with a Melee Gang, in particular Savages or Ologs and/or Ranged Immunity, as for Tribe, Marauder the Hand-Crossbows aren't to be under estimated especially when paired with the bear trap, but I find the Trapper is more so a enabler for the other Advanced Classes then a Advanced that can get the job done on their own.
Great vid Potates! You have earned my sub with this one :D BTW the Necromancer skill triggers during a pit fight. My best pit fighter is a necromancer with a gang of skilled hunters and he resurrects more than once a match.
When starting a siege, don't have the olog-kai siege upgrade when you have fast moving captains like archers or assassins. They will instantly kill them if they are on a wall that they have just finished destroying.
you have no idea how helpful this video was, in fact I managed to grind a very powerful berserker because of this video. So far he has not lost in the fight pits and I'm earning absolute bags of Miran. Thank you!!
so i havent looked up or watched any shadow of war content in a really long time, havent even thought about the game in like 6 months, until yesterday when i started playing it again. spent about an hour and a half trying to train captains in the fight pit with limited success, and now this popped up in my recommended videos. we are being watched, my dudes
Beasts, along with regular soldier Orcs of any type, are useless in teh pits - to the point where they hinder more than help. They literally don't even damage the opponent, and seem to take up "AI cycles" from your main Orc and cause him to walk around and do nothing. I would recommending adding a tribe of bodyguards and caragor rider AFTER your Orc's fight pit career is over and he's legendary. Unless his abilities are a really strong combo for his warband of bodyguards or caragors - but I disagree with Potates that any of those "combos" actually result in a decent pit fighter.
I'm not really sure why trackers even exist in the game. Other classes don't seem to have any problems tracking me down, so their "unique" traits aren't even that unique.
Ilias well you see you go to an outpost and when the captain comes out you can keep hiding around and watch him. He won't see you if you don't get near him or if you are in stealth and away, but trackers will spot you anyway
i started the game on gravewalker and trackers are the most annoying thing one can face when underleveled, i didn't even finish minas morgul and already had multiple level 65 trackers around hunting for me and then killing me because my gear was so bad i could literaly not harm them in any way. it's pretty disapointing when you hit a guy with a sneak attack and his life bar doesn't even twitch a little, and that guy was badly damaged by stealth xD
Trackers nullify stealth. They're not really more than an annoyance in combat, but they can really screw over any stealth operation you were on. You just can't sneak in their presence. They're moderately useful in online siege defenses to shore up any stealth vulnerabities, but ranged assassins are pretty much always better. You notice them most in half-baked attempts on Warchiefs where you have to stealth them. They make for very annoying bodyguards. Just not very lethal.
I found beastmasters and commanders to be great bodyguards to me and warchiefs the summoning provides so much chaos that you can really get an opening especially when going against overlords
Weird. You should have more than 36K subs. I added one. Great video man. You keep up this quality with these great overlays and you're going to be huge. Really appreciated how easy this was to follow. It was like a pro power-point presentation with awesome video. Cheers, my dude.
Never have an Archer with Enraged By Everything. Literally wiped my entire fortress assualt team. I could revive them all, thank god, but I got him out asap
I have one guy named Ar-Kaius the Destroyer. Big Olog, destroyer class, with Fire Weapon, Fire Mines, a flamethrower, Epic Fire Bombs, and Sappers that he calls in with a horn. Every battlefield he enters becomes 90% fire after 2 minutes.
I love flamethrower Ologs. I have one that's a Beastmaster, he has a pack of caragors, and can summon graugs. Add that to fire weapon, fire minea, fire bombs, a flamethrower, and ENRAGED BY EVERYTHING. He is my very favorite Olog.
You're the only SoW YT'er I watch. Lol. I have a playlist specifically for your Builds and Tips, that I consistently refer back to during my playthrough. This video is an ABSOLUTE must-add. Thanks Potate.
In my opinion a vulnerabillity to beasts is ok if accompanied by the "beast slayer" bonus, as he one-shots caragors/graugs and only has to fear drakes if his reach is limited. In Pit-Fights it's even less of a bother.
Yeah there are other abilities that supplement weaknesses but I wanted to make it easier to understand. There are three things that could make beasts okay. Beast slayer, beast immunity, and enraged by beasts. Beasts really don't have a fun time in Shadow of War
@@Dantics Have Been Trying to make Chanel called MatrixGames Popular. Unfortunaly he has not ubloaded in months or even communicate with us. Oh also I have job now.
15:27 - Tank class "This is useful in many ways, they can simply outlast their opponents or keep their allies safe by distracting enemies and absorbing damage.." Olog-Hai proceeds to smash the tanks face 😂😂😂
Honestly, I think it's better if the bodyguards have no chance, as they're less likely to be targeted. Only the warchiefs need to actually be defeated in online conquests, so any attacker striving for gold is going to focus exclusively on the warchief at their victory point. That means that you want the warchief to have high survivability, but not necessarily worry about them dishing out damage, in my opinion. While the player is tangling with the warchief, the bodyguard should be able to get a few lucky hits in.
Factor Fitness Well some of them have it but it's hard to find an uruk with that ability and they need to be in specific classes. Savages... i need lots of savages...
The hardest Captain's I've fought have been Savage's and shield users. I once met a shield user that was generally unbeatable (for my play style), as he had been immune to all attacks like vaults, sneaks, arrows, and he had a huge unbreakable shield
Here’s a incredible combo I found for siege defence: have a berserker warchief with as many berserker bodyguards as you can, with every Uruk having both enraged by weakness and exhaustion, and have half of them with epic rage and half without. Now when one’s rage wears off, it’s activated for the rest of them. EDIT: spelling mistakes
Is "Giant-slayer" Just Really rare? I've been playing shadow of War for a while and have not encountered a SINGLE giant-slayer captain! Does it really exist?
@@heavenlybog5845 that it? i have an Olog named Ur-Edin The Avenger, he's immune to arrows, executions, fire, curse, frost and beasts, he only has 1 hint, he's enraged by bloodlust, and 6 other things, he's epic rage and great strength. and he's a necromancer and he's part of the terror tribe
also make sure you look for enraged by possessive master and bloodlust for a warchief. Possessive master is like enraged by injury, but your bodyguards have to be injured first, then the warchief will become enraged, then bloodlust makes the orc become enraged when noticing an enraged enemy or ally. so you can have a possessive master warchief and 2 bloodlust bodyguards
So one of my uruks has managed to roll abilities, where the only thing that can harm him is range attacks, with a no chance ability and being a destroyer hunter. Only things I've given him is a poison weapon, with a epic gang of hunters.
I personally like pairing a tracker with the epic traps and a berserker. That way when a player eventually runs into one of the 5 or so traps in the objective the berserker can run up and annihilate them. It was so bad that I have had multiple people attack them first to make the fight easier.
Interesting thing with Frost-Proof: While I haven't be able to find a consistant timing for it, theres been a couple of times where I was able to pull off a full flurry of blows combo despite the frost immunity. The frost is there for a brief period, and for some reason striking a frosted orc resets the frost, allowing the combo to continue in full. I think if a player is good enough, they may be able to find some timing to be able consistently use flurry on otherwise immune foes.
I've noticed this too, they have to hit a certain animation where they are frozen for more than one frame and then you can stunlock them. They'll take all the damage despite breaking out of the particle effects every fraction of a second. Something tells me it's a cooldown issue, like the cooldown on immune characters is 0.15 seconds instead of 7, so if you can build up the frost charge you can get it to stick like how it takes multiple shots to freeze an Olog... But that may just be from closing in every time he staggers. It just needs to be point-blank from behind and the combo can fire.
Not very often on comment on videos, but this time I just had to. Absolutely fantastic video with all the information right there in helpful tables. If I could give this a million likes it wouldn’t be enough.
tbh the best uruk i have seen in my days of this game out of all the uruks/orcs i have seen is the terror tribe poison/curse/fire Tower guy he is OP af
What about that rare secret ability orcs sometimes have when they either kill other orcs in a single hit or they do the same attack over and over in a loop
One really fun trait combo for Destroyers is Epic (elemental) Bombs + Elite Gang. The Elite Gang will inherit the Epic Bombs, so you'll have 5-6 orcs constantly throwing elemental bombs.
Wish we could start as an Uruk from scratch and we climb the ranks till Overlord, like level 2 or 3 you got to pick a Class, level 10 and Advanced Class, then level 20 a tribe, but got to do quests for them and such.
Yesterday in online pit fight my overlord had 3 execution attacks in a short time and lost almost all health, so I think Immune to Execution is not so useless in pits
I have an orc named Blorg the Puny, but he is my most overpowered orc ever. He was my orc that imported from Shadow of Mordor, and I was always upgrading and leveling him up. Now, any time I need a job done, if there is an orc I literally cannot kill, I can just send Blorg over there and the problem will be solved.
i kid u not as soon i watched this video i pulled out from a random free chest from a challenge a poisonous mystic assassin (Tarz the power hungry) immune to EVERYTHING except arrows and stealth only hints for damage, poison warder and dire caragor rider with an olag gang, poison bombs and weapon.
alrizzuto players will shadow strike pull him away and beat him 1v1. I thought I had found the winner too untill someone pointed out shadow strike pull.
There is an orc that is completely insane in my game. I killed him 2 times on the first map but he came back from death in a half-metal body and got the title "The Machine" he killed me a couple times later and gave me trouble to the point i changed map and he still followed me. Lastly i managed to beat him thx to my bodyguard and now he bodyguards me. Guess ill take a look at all his traits properly. I know he hav no weakneses or mortal weakneses but didnt actually checked out his strenght points. Really great guide u did in this video. Pretty amazing even watching it like 3 years later haha
my strongest captain Ur-hakon the abused can one shot any talion no matter how powerful my coolest captain my overlord ar-beka the pure is a kingslayer olog titled the pure so he has a manhunter mask but its golden too. so a full on golden olog with a metal claw and a gold manhunter mask
I had 2 memorable followers. Stakuga the Thinker- a poisonous machine marksman and Grom Iron-Skin, a machine berserker. None of them were epic or legendary, but in my eyes they were. I'll never forget that time when I was ambushed by THREE FUCKING CAPTAINS while I was hunting one, so I ended up in a 1 vs 4 fight, completely surrounded, and eventually down on my knees with no comebacks. I thought it was done for, when BOOM, one of them gets absolutely fucking DESTROYED by Stakuga. But my boy wasn't satisfied. No, sir, he proceeded to fucking MOW DOWN EVERYONE who wasn't me, be they grunts or captains. He saved my stupid ass three times. I never needed another bodyguard in Seragost. Grom Iron-Skin never saved my life, but he was reliable as hell. When I was leveling up minions in the arena and ocasionally ran into op uruks that I didn't want either because they didn't look cool, or I didn't like their attributes I chose Grom, and he never lost more than half his hp. Any time I summoned him in battle, I could take a breather and light up a cig because Grom was taking care of business like a fucking boss. The fortress of Cirith Ungol has never even been in danger of falling because Grom was guarding its main gate, and this guy was immune to EVERYTHING, enraged by injury and about 100 other things. Oh, and they had NO WEAKNESSES.
Quite the comprehensive video you got here, enjoyed it very much and gave me another person's insight on the trait system. I did notice you did not talk about ologs and how a select few tribe traits are wasted on them. For example a warmonger olog does not get any possible skills from being a warmonger, as opposed to a machine olog where he possibly gets a flamethrower or a feral olog who gets to have a harpoon gun, the occasional olog with necromancer, excetera.... I even acquired a fiery marauder olog with a flamethrower so i'm not sure wether or not the harpoon gun is feral exclusive, i hope not Just saying, machine destroyer ologs aren't the friendliest of things around. Especially if they have curse and they just happend to be immune to curse, and be enraged by it. By the way, did anyone ever see a olog slayer? I'd like one with the epic slayer execution counter trait.
I'm having some trouble creating a perfect orc. I've had multiple with the said recommended traits, but they always ended up betraying me or dying. Any recommendations for keeping them loyal or farming for them?
a few tips to lessen the chance of betrayal: run the pit fights every now and then, even if it's not really needed anymore to unlock the last fortress upgrade, it increases contentment, Brûz says as much during the tutorial. do NOT hit your followers, this causes them to get annoyed and if you hit them too much in a short amount of time they will turn on you then and there, but even repeated hitting over a long period of time can cause a betrayal due to a long time grudge. Never keep a demoted Warchief or Overlord around longer than needed, at least not without sticking them either in the garrison or back into the fort in another position, you can change around the Warchief/Overlord positions inside the fort itself without too much of an issue, they won't betray you as long as they hold these positions, but if you demote them back into regular captains you better start to sharpen your sword for the all but inevitable betrayal, if you are demoting a captain from those positions send them to the pits until they die or become so high level that they are maxed out for your current level, this should allow them to be content enough to not just lop your head off at the first opportunity... hopefully anyway. Never... EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE mass demote warchiefs and Overlords and then just leave them be, they will all conspire to betray you, which can have you see every last one of them showing up to betray you all at once, the worst part about such betrayals is that they tend to happen at the WORST possible moment, like being at an exceedingly low amount of HP vs other hostile orc captains, resulting in groups of 4, 5 or even 6+ orc captains vs you.
I have my most loyal Uruk Follower as "Pigug The Destroyer" obviously I brought him over to SOW from SOM and he has never lost a fight in either game, he had dual flame axes, a switched for curse, thanks to you I'll be changing that back, he is super tanky so I switched out his epic bombs for thick skin but I decided that 1 hitting enemies is better than 3 hits and invincibility
@@luchiatton1115 There is/was a gamemode on SOM called the nemesis forge, the uruk with the highest nemesis score would transfer to SOW as your nemesis in the arena fights final level during the story, the uruk with the highest follower score would transfer to SOW as your follower, chained up to a post after the Bruz storyline. However, after going back to play SOM recently I can no longer see the nemesis forge, maybe it only becomes available after completing campaign, I was playing on a new save afterall. (Basically I don't know if the feature is still available or not.)
I have this arrow proof necromancer as overlord do when players try and kill the little uruks they come back and just generally become annoying the guy also became crit immune after a level up and he basically became god.
I have a beserker Olog bodyguard (epic) that took/can take on 8+ captains with ease. He pulls down Graugs with one hand and executes them, one hits caragors and sends them flying, and 2-3 hits captains and warchiefs, and for some reason his health never goes below 3/4. I call him Fifi.
Wait, Enraged By Rival doesn't work for sieging? I've been making Uruks with that trait the bodyguard to their rival, since I thought it would make them berserk all the time.
So I just started playing this game recently and in my 70ish hours of game play I would agree with most of what you said however epic rage has really helped me with zerkers who don't have a lot of hate triggers as it seems to really extend enrage so once they do enrage it lasts a long time. I suppose this is only viable in base attacking/defense. Also is giant slayer still a trait in the game as I have not seen this one before but it would help explain why some of my Ologs have been absolutely destroyed in online pit fights..
Truly the best guide to Uruk traits out there! I learned so much from this. I would still like to know if Gang of Defenders is better than Gang of Hunters for siege attacks as getting capture points quicker is essential to getting gold on higher level fortresses.
Defenders are my favorite class. A Defender Tank is practically unbeatable in the fight pits, they have the best survivability of any orc. Ologs are huge but they get ganged up on in sieges. What you should do is get Mighty Hunters to buff the bulk army you already have. Those buff abilities on your captains work for all the orcs on your side, so buffs are more important than having their own gang.
From my experience (and i've done a shit ton of pit fighting) Ologs and Savages have done the best for me, seriously I never used to think Ologs had an automatic advantage, but im a strong believer they do. I've had a level 20 Olog merk lvl 45+ hunters(Epics) many occasion, The consistent stun lock hits they do, rinse and repeat, it's insane. if you have a follower with gang of ologs, good luck winning a pit fight there. (unless u have fire weapons). And when Ologs have mines/bombs, even stronger, consistent stun lock. Savages have done the best vs. Ologs from my experience, I think its still hard to say whats actually best in pit fights tho.
I differ on the mounted pitfighters. I lost to one in a pit fight because he had the trait where he rages when he’s near one. So when my orc dismounted him it was game over for me. Pretty crafty i must say.
Through my own testing, I've found a few differences: Archers and Warriors definitely are lower-tier than other classes, but I found that Archers performed particularly poorly in the Pits. In terms of Tribes, I'd agree that Mystic is top-tier, but strictly in terms of Orc vs. Orc, I'd say Terror is better than Marauder. The former's ability can potentially wipe out an enemy Orc's entire gang in one swing. The latter can certainly rack up damage quickly, but that's assuming every bolt hits, and that it gets activated at all. 100% agree with your assessment of Berserker being the best. It's almost unfair how easy it is to win in Pit fights with a Berserker.
Additionally, some vulnerabilities can honestly be acceptable for pit fights if they are paired with certain strengths. For instance, Sickly might seem pretty bad, but if your Orc also has "Enraged by Poison," then they essentially cancel each other out, because your Orc is going to murder his opponent well before the poison can kill him.
13:15 actually i have started the fight pits one time and a captains Siege banners were already up. Making my captain, and his followers enraged the moment the battle starts. Had to test if it happened again, and sure enough. It happened for 4 more battles until i chose a different captain. I guess its very rare. But it happens.
They don't activate if the orc is starts an animation or is moving to start an animation. Talion can also dance over them with certain animations, but for whatever reason the orcs seem to have this property much more abundantly
Doesn't matter how OP an uruk is. If all they do is run around and taunt for the entire fight while getting shot at and poisoned.
+Hammurabi the awesome agreed!
I know right that is so blooding annoying
Read this carefully, what happens if all they do is run and and taunt
had it once that i sent in one to fight they taunt they die i take the winner they taunt they die and that happened around 20-30 rounds until i finally won
I KNOW
well there needs to be tweeks to the fight pit AI anyways, seems to me that sometimes my uruks just die becuase they were standing there scratching their nut sacks instead of trying to fight.
all uruks are becoming dumb af in pits staring each other attacking other group members or animals instead of captains. But when it comes to attacking you suddeny they become a spartan solider
The pit fight AI is horrendous.
Curseius my fucking op assassin was sliding around thinking he is a ninja while the enemy captain is beating him up they really need to fix pit fights

All of them. It's like they are on rails.

Marksmans always charge their enemies with their bayonets for me, especially berserkers.
@@rockmcdwayne1710 actually arrow proof only applies to talions arrows, i've seen multiple times , "arrow proof" orcs get sniped by marksmen.

7:43 if you are playing on Gravewalker difficulty, then most definitely get vigilant against stealth because sometimes the only thing you can do to damage a captain is to sprint out of combat then repeatedly stealth attack the target.
But that still only applies to Talion in your game, you don't know what difficulty the fortress invaders will be playing on.
A particularly lethal Overlord + Bodyguard combo:
Look for an Overlord immune to everything except for one element (forget stealth immunity, doesn’t matter). Then assign two Commanders as his bodyguards, both with the Warder trait that the Overlord needs.
Behold! An Overlord immune to everything, constantly enraged orcs due to War Banners or death of the Commanders, and if you go so far as to get a Necromancer, the dead are rising.
That, is absolutely fantastic!
Four years late but, a much better
Combination is to have a fire preferable marauder berserker as overlord with 2 mystic hunters. Reason to go with the mystic marksman is because they will never fight you head on, and because they are mystic while your busy fighting the berserker they can use the mystic blade move, if too much is happening on screen it won’t slow down to let you time your dodge
Ill be back in 5years to see if you have improved this further@@rapsnacks8050
It'd be cool if they made a vat area... maybe in the caverns of Gorgoroth? Go there and take an Uruk freshly born.
A minor, but VERY important note on Curse when it comes to Uruks, Curse works differently on Uruks than it does on the player, here is what it does based on my own observations:
At first glance Curse is the weakest Ailment you can it on an Orc, and yet despite this almost every Mystic Tribe Orc are immune to Curse, bit strange, yes?
Great to scare off grunts if there are too many around
indeed they do, it is even mentioned in my comment :P a 2 liner somewhere inside that giant wall of text :)
Curse also summons morgul flies, so those affected by them are dazed.
They can't use them
Exactly right
If you want one to have the flamethrower then you’ll need an Olog from the machine tribe. It’s pretty freakin fun
The machine ologs are bad ass flame thrower welding tanks.
The level of detail monolith puts into their uruks and ologs is insane! I just wish we could play as them
Before my game got erased, I had an archer with explosive shots and bombs, and an elite gang of archers also with explosive shots. In the pits it was like a non stop artillery barrage right out of the gate on whoever they caught. The enemy could barely take two steps without being bombarded to hell.
For some reason I laughed at this
Something I find neat with Trappers is how well they pair with Destroyers, since I find it becomes really hard to dodge their traps, especially if the Destroyer can throw several bombs, but on their own I find their often a mild annoyance unless their a Hunter or Archer with a Melee Gang, in particular Savages or Ologs and/or Ranged Immunity, as for Tribe, Marauder the Hand-Crossbows aren't to be under estimated especially when paired with the bear trap, but I find the Trapper is more so a enabler for the other Advanced Classes then a Advanced that can get the job done on their own.

One vulnerability I'll tolerate is Beast Fodder, if the Uruk is a Beastmaster with Beast Slayer, which nullifies that vulnerability.
Agree. Beasts do minimal damage to captains anyway.
This is an amazing and SUPER helpful video man! Thanks so much for this video, best guide on Uruks on TH-cam!
Trackers detect you no matter what you cant hide from them thats why they exist and they will alert all other uruks around to your presence as well.
i started the game on gravewalker and trackers are the most annoying thing one can face when underleveled, i didn't even finish minas morgul and already had multiple level 65 trackers around hunting for me and then killing me because my gear was so bad i could literaly not harm them in any way. it's pretty disapointing when you hit a guy with a sneak attack and his life bar doesn't even twitch a little, and that guy was badly damaged by stealth xD

In my opinion a vulnerabillity to beasts is ok if accompanied by the "beast slayer" bonus, as he one-shots caragors/graugs and only has to fear drakes if his reach is limited. In Pit-Fights it's even less of a bother.

There is no warchief in my main fortress who doesn't have the "no chance" perk. Just to troll people who are preparing for online assaults 😜
I hear ya. I've had a ton of trouble finding Assassins with decent immunities (a must for warchiefs in my book), so maybe I'm just jealous.
I just make sure I have atleast one berserker savage or defender and one assassin archer or hunter guarding each war chief.
But what about betrayals
The hardest Captain's I've fought have been Savage's and shield users. I once met a shield user that was generally unbeatable (for my play style), as he had been immune to all attacks like vaults, sneaks, arrows, and he had a huge unbreakable shield
Use the upgrade Waters of Lorien and the mask of undying. You can dash infinitely and bypass vault breaker
Here’s a incredible combo I found for siege defence: have a berserker warchief with as many berserker bodyguards as you can, with every Uruk having both enraged by weakness and exhaustion, and have half of them with epic rage and half without. Sauron Ikov sounds like he’s from the cheat engine, did you get him in an online siege ?
also make sure you look for enraged by possessive master and bloodlust for a warchief. Possessive master is like enraged by injury, but your bodyguards have to be injured first, then the warchief will become enraged, then bloodlust makes the orc become enraged when noticing an enraged enemy or ally. so you can have a possessive master warchief and 2 bloodlust bodyguards

One thing to take note of is that weaknesses to stealth are fine on overlords as they are immediately alerted to players and will not reset.
There is gear that can force a reset if they have a meat shield to run distraction for a few seconds.
@@Tracker947 fair enough, although it’s not often used.
@@blizzardgaming7070 I appreciate that you came back to reply after a year 🙏
I personally feel that defenders hard counter berserkers. They just block everything. And puts the berserker in a stun lock.
Not true, my berserker savages are op
This is a two year old comment.
Why are you here
Not very often on comment on videos, but this time I just had to.
The Tower is a lot of fun. The pretender I used in the latest Mordor Regional Pit Fighting Championships was OP too.
What about that rare secret ability orcs sometimes have when they either kill other orcs in a single hit or they do the same attack over and over in a loop
One of my orcs was literally unkillable to Melee fighters. He demolished every Olog with the same move and then died after 15 fights to an archer.
Awesome video been looking a detail like this for ages :D cheers
+MrCZRC no problem man!
One really fun trait combo for Destroyers is Epic (elemental) Bombs + Elite Gang. The Elite Gang will inherit the Epic Bombs, so you'll have 5-6 orcs constantly throwing elemental bombs.
Thanks for the Video on the classes! Helped me alot to getting startet!
No problem at all!
Loved this video thank you for taking your time in to making this
Aren't you sweet, thanks for taking the time to watch it!
Wish we could start as an Uruk from scratch and we climb the ranks till Overlord, like level 2 or 3 you got to pick a Class, level 10 and Advanced Class, then level 20 a tribe, but got to do quests for them and such.
I recommend a full assassin fortress, because if the player dies once, they lose, because the passive for assasains is that they can't save themselves
I just go with what I can get
I found out if you keep doing the first dlc you can keep getting the fixer and architect
Fun fact about Decoys from a Trickster. Check the helmet or some piece of armor. The Decoys generally have no color in theirs, except maybe one Decoy
True but he would be a hell of crowd pleaser in the pits
Give him elite savage gang
bro poison warder and dire caragor mount are so bad
try getting poison master great strength
There is an orc that is completely insane in my game. I killed him 2 times on the first map but he came back from death in a half-metal body and got the title "The Machine" he killed me a couple times later and gave me trouble to the point i changed map and he still followed me. Lastly i managed to beat him thx to my bodyguard and now he bodyguards me. Guess ill take a look at all his traits properly. I know he hav no weakneses or mortal weakneses but didnt actually checked out his strenght points. Really great guide u did in this video. Pretty amazing even watching it like 3 years later haha
my strongest captain Ur-hakon the abused can one shot any talion no matter how powerful
my coolest captain my overlord ar-beka the pure is a kingslayer olog titled the pure so he has a manhunter mask but its golden too. so a full on golden olog with a metal claw and a gold manhunter mask
Absolute legend for doing this video. Thank you!
Thanks Adrian! No problem at all.
The rabid ability is very useful for pit fights as once a captain is hit by the roar so many times he becomes terrified.
Really great analysis! Well done!
+Valerios Karakozidis thank you valerios!
All im going to say is a olog tank with thik skin and bombs would be awsome
Yep!
Thanks and i love your vids
Quite the comprehensive video you got here, enjoyed it very much and gave me another person's insight on the trait system.
I did notice you did not talk about ologs and how a select few tribe traits are wasted on them.
For example a warmonger olog does not get any possible skills from being a warmonger, as opposed to a machine olog where he possibly gets a flamethrower or a feral olog who gets to have a harpoon gun, the occasional olog with necromancer, excetera....
I even acquired a fiery marauder olog with a flamethrower so i'm not sure wether or not the harpoon gun is feral exclusive, i hope not
Just saying, machine destroyer ologs aren't the friendliest of things around.
Just clone them and keep them in garrison if one betray you then get another
a few tips to lessen the chance of betrayal: run the pit fights every now and then, even if it's not really needed anymore to unlock the last fortress upgrade, it increases contentment, Brûz says as much during the tutorial.
do NOT hit your followers, this causes them to get annoyed and if you hit them too much in a short amount of time they will turn on you then and there, but even repeated hitting over a long period of time can cause a betrayal due to a long time grudge.
This comment needs more vieuws, it's accurate believe me.
Lunaraia good to know! Thanks!
Thanks for all the info Lunaraia
I have my most loyal Uruk Follower as "Pigug The Destroyer" obviously I brought him over to SOW from SOM and he has never lost a fight in either game, he had dual flame axes, a switched for curse, thanks to you I'll be changing that back, he is super tanky so I switched out his epic bombs for thick skin but I decided that 1 hitting enemies is better than 3 hits and invincibility
How did you bring and urul from som to sow?
Thx for this video. I found it really useful and informative. Keep up the good work. =)
Very informative and helpful! Definitely going in my playlist
Savage terror berserker with fire wepon is godly
Really depends what they are up against. An archer will win 3 times out of 5 when it comes to fighting Ologs for example.
9:45 there is also Devoted master same as enraged by Boss Defeat but triggered when warchief bodyguard is killed.
I differ on the mounted pitfighters. I lost to one in a pit fight because he had the trait where he rages when he’s near one. So when my orc dismounted him it was game over for me. Pretty crafty i must say.
I'd love a written version of this video, so I can refer back to it!
Slayer and Berserker are my fav. most of my fortresses are defended by berserkers and slayers, although i should have a variety
Awesome video! Very informative and well spoken; will be using this info to boost my online fort!
OP Overload. Enrage, Mortal Wound En, Execution proof, Fire-Poison-Frost immune, Epic Savage gang, Epic Fanatic Gang, Arrow proof, Rampage, Poison Weapon, Vault breaker. This is was fun...
Sounds good :)
I once got a overlord just like that.
@@daimingjun2147 was it dutch?lol
13:15 actually i have started the fight pits one time and a captains Siege banners were already up. Making my captain, and his followers enraged the moment the battle starts. Had to test if it happened again, and sure enough. It happened for 4 more battles until i chose a different captain. I guess its very rare. But it happens.
Trackers traps rarely work in pit fights even if the enemy is standing on it for 30 seconds
They don't activate if the orc is starts an animation or is moving to start an animation. Talion can also dance over them with certain animations, but for whatever reason the orcs seem to have this property much more abundantly
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!
Blood brother can be used by making one the bodyguard of the other or both guarding another orc.
