For MV's they have: Be natural, Automatic, One of these nights, Peekaboo and Bad Boy. But they have 3 whole albums with all songs being velvet songs (the velvet, the perfect velvet and the perfect red velvet).
I love that you reacted to these two songs in the same video because you can see their two sides very well. The "red" side is Power Up, which is more cute and colorful. Bad Boy and Peakaboo is their "velvet" side wich in my opinion is much more interesting.
I feel bad for adding more songs to your list but I'd love to hear your thoughts on Retro Future by Triple H and Ddaeng by BTS!! Also the spotify playlist is a great idea, I'm curious to see what songs you'll add.
Candela Luna peek a boo isn't velvet tho. its a mixture of both, kinda like russian roulette. Also lmao velvet side is cool and all but the songs are very generic and not really musically unique. Their red side tho, a lot more experimental and unique, like power up and rookie, and even cookie jar. Anyways, both sides are interesting in their own aspects. Don't underestimate the red side tho

Helena I'm all for experimental tracks but sometimes I can't enjoy the red side as much because to me it feels a little awkward, especially when they perform live. Even if their velvet side is not as unique, they pull it off perfectly and usually I prefer pop combined with r&b over bubblegum pop, unless it's VERY experimental like Sophie. It's okay if you disagree because in my original comment I wasn't giving any facts, I specifically stated that it was just my opinion.
RV is so impressive to me bc they can switch to both sides and fit and nail them so well. U guys should react to Dumb Dumb(red) & Automatic(velvet) those are two of my fav title tracks ! Also super excited about the Spotify playlist cant wait! :)

Are you fans of rnb? Red velvet b-sides are really solid and their newest full album, the perfect red velvet, has some really stellar songs with a variety of styles including rnb. (Some of my favorites are kingdom come, I just, look, and my second date.) Their newest release, the summer magic mini album, is also pretty good for those who like quirky pop songs. You’re right about the red side and the velvet side// I’d describe their red side as the refreshing side and velvet as the smooth side, but sometimes they mix the two to create subtly creepy bops like peekaboo and Russian roulette hahah. I’d say red velvet is one of the more experimental and artistic groups of this gen bc of the producers/songwriters sm chooses for red velvet’s discography as a whole so if you’re into finding new styles of music, rv is on it 👌 thanks for coming to my ted talk

From what I’ve read, Power Up has more of a meaning in Korea, where there seems to be a generational gap between the older, work all the time, generation and the younger, enjoy life to the fullest, generation. This song is telling the younger generation to get out and enjoy life. And then Bad Boy is just a great song.
Fun fact! There is an English version of 'Bad Boy'! Also, I don't know if someone mentioned this but the Korean government funds kpop and kdramas. Like production costs and such in order to promote Korean culture worldwide.
As for requests, can I recommend a triple feature? Of Shinee's music videos 'Good Evening', 'I Want You', and 'Our Page'. These three music videos are apart of their album 'The Story of Light'. It's their first album they released after one of their members, Jonghyun, passed away and 'Our Page' is dedicated to him. I've always been a fan since 2010 and I feel like they need more love now more than ever. If you can't react to all of them, at least do 'Our Page'. Please and Thank you! :D
The Nintendhoe We didn't know that, that's crazy! Shinee has been recommended alot so we're definitely going to react to them soon. Its sad to hear one of there members passed away, we'll make sure to check out 'Our Page' since you said it's dedicated to him.
Thank you so much! Shinee does a lot of retro music embodying the 80's and 90's. My favorites are 'Sherlock', 'Married to the Music', '1 of 1', and 'Juliette'. You don't have to react to them, but please check them out if you're interest in retro pop.
I've never heard of Korean government funding kpop and kdrama, would you mind sharing a link to the info if it's not too much to ask?
You can easily look it up. So many results show up. But basically, the Korean government takes an active role to have kpop and kdramas appeal to the international audiences in order to promote tourism to the country.

Thanks so much for reacting to Red Velvet! I know we can be very persistent and annoying asking you to react to all our favorite kpop groups, but its only because we love seeing people listen to the songs for the first time.
Here's an interesting fact about Bad Boy since you guys liked it: it was composed and arranged by The Stereotypes, who if you guys don't know are a really popular and award winning production team who have worked on a lot of kpop songs but have also produced a lot of western artist music, the most popular probably being Bruno Mars' "24k Magic" and "That's What I Like."
Bad Boy is imo their best song. I like their "velvet" side more and Bad Boy is absolutely fantastic. There's an English version of the song that was just released with their Summer Magic album so be sure to check it out in your free time.

If you want more velvet side then I highly recommend One of These Nights (really beautiful music video too) and Automatic. One of their best red side and summer vibe songs is Red Flavour which is even more catchy than Power Up in my opinion haha. Also if you like the music videos where they're trying to kill people then Russian Roulette is a fun one ^^

Red velvet has the power to change their concepts, comeback by comeback, they are really good singers, dancers and rappers, so you can check them up more. You guys can also react to infinite please, they have songs and a dancing style that will catch you instantly
You can have a different bias in every group but if you stan 1 group the most and have a bias in that group its your biggest bias but you can have a favorite in everygroup

Yes, me too. I prefer Bad Boy. Tbh I never got into girlgroup. I mean I didn't got any interested of gb. But I got falling in love from the firsttime I listened and watched Badboy live performance. And I never got bored of it.

Yes there are two side to red velvet. I personally really enjoy their red side songs but some people like to hate cute things for being cute...I think power up is actually pretty interesting and experimental but everyone has their own preferences. I'm glad you guys are enjoying red velvet they are a great group!
If you want more "velvety" songs like this from them, check out "Automatic" and "Be Natural".
haha i like that you mentioned it sounds like something you'd hear in a video game, that's exactly what they were going for! the composer of the song cazzi opeia told the producers (moonshine) she wanted something that sounded like the inside of an arcade machine :) btw this is the same team that worked with them in peekaboo!! for bad boy they worked with the stereotypes (you should check out their genius interview it's GREAT!)
i think you'd enjoy exploring their different title tracks because they're all SO DIFFERENT... red concept ones (more upbeat, pop-inspired sound): red flavor, rookie (2017), russian roulette (2016), dumb dumb, ice cream cake (2015) and happiness (2014). their velvet songs (r&b, more sensual and serious concepts): one of these nights (2016), automatic (2015) and be natural (2014)

What is amazing about Red velvet cutesy songs is that they sound cutesy but actually the productions, the layers and the lyrics all have deep meanings behind it. Like "Power Up" The song is about stop taking care only of your work, your studies and go outside to have fun. This actually has alot of meaning for the south koreans like the 3:00 pm reference in the lyrics + The harmonizations, all the different layers behind everytime they sing the fun "banana baba" and the chorus are to dieeee for. And the video is so full of amazing art deco visuals.
PEEK A BOO BIAS MUCH SKDBEJ MEEE BUT yeah they have a red side and a velvet side. Their red side is more upbeat and poppy and their velvet side is their mature and has ballad songs. Bad boy is a part of both of the sides with it being a part of the repackaged mini album called the perfect red velvet. I always like Red Velvet's "velvet side" songs, but the "red side" songs are hit or miss. I really like "Red Flavour" and that's a red side song.
I don't know who did the Power Up video, but some well known kpop MV production companies are Zanybros, Digipedi, VM Project, Lumpens, DPR (Dream Perfect Regime), and Naive Creative. There are probably more that I'm not thinking of or don't know though!

Red is much more than their hit or miss title tracks because if you listened more to their Red BSides, its really innovative. Velvet is both bops Title or BSides.

Red Velvet is known in the kpop world as a group that can pull off MANY concepts. Right now, Power Up is their most successful song to date, it is absolutely destroying the charts in Korea. That being said, Bad Boy put them in a whole new stratosphere, it's the ultimate bop.
Red and Velvet side of them are not only about the concept and music but also their vocal and dance. That's why they look so great in their performance. I feel different when I watch and listen their music. When they perform their Red side, I can feel their cute yet powerful vocal and their dance also need much energy also sp many movements. But when I listen their Velvet side, their vocal is calmer and smooth while their dance doesn't need much energy but the movement quite complicated (except Bad Boy, I could learn it faster than their other velvet dance)
They have a full English version of this song, worth checking out, and yes they have a "Red" side and a "Velvet" side

Oh yeah have you heard any Loona songs yet? They're debuting soon but they've had about 2 years of pre-debut promotions with each member having solos as well as 3 sub-units. I highly recommend you check out Egoist by Olivia Hye and New by Yves (my personal favourite solos) and Sweet Crazy Love by Odd Eye Circle (one of the sub-units). They also just released their first song as a whole group (12 members altogether) Called Favourite and they'll have their official debut as a whole group very soon but we haven't got an official date yet

What I also would like to see is a reaction to some japanese rock/metal bands. I hope you could do one for the GazettE. The GazettE is my favorite band (even if I normally dislike metal) and I think you would like their music.
The GazettE is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 2002 and one of the most popular ones. The members are Ruki (lead vocals), Uruha (lead guitar), Aoi (rhythm guitar), Reita (bass) and Kai (drums). They have released so far 9 studio albums (the last one this year in june) and also a lot of singles. I think you would mostly like their newest releases, so here the latest ones:
Falling - Falling is the a-side track for their new album NINTH and if you like the song I highly recommend to listen to the full album because it's a masterpiece
Ugly - Ugly is one of my all-time favorite songs and has in my opinion a awesome music video where the 7 deadly sins are represented
Dogma - Dogma is the a-side track of their eighth studio album (the most heaviest one) and also has a amazing sound and music video
They have more great songs that you should listen to but I think for the beginning you would like the recent ones. Hope you will react to them one day.

You guys have to know that the band always change between to two themes. One is this happy song (Red) like power up and the other ist the bad vibe stuff (Velvet) like bad boy. Hence the Name Red Velvet!

the fact that they have a sexy and tender side is exactly by the concept of the name, Red is fun and tenderness, the Velvet is the sensual and mature...
Red velvet stands for two sides. The red is for the more dark, sexy, r&b sound. While as the velvet side is for the soft and ballad and playful sounds they do. They are pretty unique to me, compared to other girl groups, they make up concepts you would never see.
You guys should check out their live performance of Bad Boy at KCON 2018 in NY where they sang the English version.
And on the Genius' TH-cam channel there's a video in which the producers of Bad Boy talk about the process of composing and producing the song. It's in a series called Deconstructed. It's pretty cool.

It's actually cool that you react to both Power Up and Bad Boy coz it's shows two side of Red Velvet.
Red Velvet concept is where they have a two side to show their charm which is
Red: poppy, bubbly, bubblegum pop songs
Velvet: the more slowy, rnb and mature side
Kpop groups are rely heavily on concept since it can shows their charm and people can easily differentiate one group to another. Like how bts, blackpink, big bang etc are known for cool badass songs. While twice, oh my girl etc known for their cute bubblegum pop songs (which is more favorable in south korea). There's also sistar, stellar etc known for their sexy concept, and there's Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, F(x) etc who can do both cute bubbly and badass.
You should check out some more of both their sides. Their albums usually have songs from both sides and they're the one group everyone loves the b-side songs of. Here's some recommendations:
Red- Russian roulette and dumb dumb and ice cream cake
Velvet- automatic, one of these nights and be natural

They have 3 songs I think you might like (triple feature anyone?!) NalinA, Nillili mambo, very good. Those songs are amazing! Also one of the members of block b has done a lot of solo music as well his name is zico and I strongly recommend his music. I also strongly recommend ikon!

If you want something a bit jazzy/soulful check out Mad Clown - Fire (ft. Jinsil). That is probably one of my favorite if not my favorite kpop songs so far. Has rap/hip hop mixed in too.
Also I’ll check out the metal u guys recommend on Spotify cause I was actually interested in finding some good metal.

Especially NCT U, one of their sub-units. Boss and Baby Don't Stop, are good places to start.
