The music video is kind of just a whole play on the song where love makes the narrator "dumb" so like from what I (and a lot of the Reveluvs) understood was that they're robots? But these feelings kind of make them malfunction, almost? Making them 'dumb' when they're supposed to be robots. It's why it just gets more and more chaotic over time.
You guys should listen to their B-sides/full albums if you can. Their albums are always really good. BUT as far as what they'd probably perform on their show, I'd suggest songs like "Automatic", "Russian Roulette", "Happiness" (their debut song! the music video doesn't have member Yeri in it because she joined later), "Look", "Red Flavour", and "Zoo".

Wendy, the main vocalist grew up in Toronto so if you are wondering why her English is so good, that's why. For sure check out "Happiness" which is their debut song. For a different type of song, "One of These Nights" is a great ballad of theirs. Hope you both have fun at the concert! Sadly, I can't go to see them. Get a couple of light sticks, it's a staple of K-Pop concerts. I have a few myself, no Red Velvet ones yet. Reveluv is the name of Red Velvet's fandom btw.
This song was voted #71 on Rolling Stone's best girlgroup songs of all time, the highest Kpop entry in the list I think.
And my god, I'm jealous you get to see them live! I hope they come to the UK. I got tickets to Blackpink in May, but that set me back £150...
Hope you guys enjoy it! I expect a live report... they're definitely one of the most musically interesting groups out there. I still really want you guys to see Happiness! From having watched a video of their first concert series, they had a 2 hour+ long set and played practically everything they had then, so... really makes you appreciate how hard they work, to dance/sing over two dozen songs in a row. I can't fully remember what you have/haven't done but Happiness, Ice Cream Cake, Rookie, Be Natural, Automatic, One of these Nights, Red Flavor, at least!

Red velvet is so versatile group.. their discography is insane
The music video plays on some of the lyrics which make a reference to mannequins and robots. The theme of the song is about feeling dumb and flustered when you are around the person you like. The lyrics say that the narrator becomes stiff like a doll and awkwardly robotic around their crush. They use the imagery of a doll factory and repetition to play on this theme and also to compliment the repetitive hook ‘dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb’ which uses a auditory illusion to make the song sound like it’s getting higher in the same way the images repeat to make a visual illusion.
Your favorite songs of Red Velvet are both in their album The Perfect Red Velvet, so maybe check that album out. Their popular summer songs though are Red Flavor and Ice Cream Cake.

It's awesome you guys are going to see them live, I really hope them (and other groups) pick up more traction here stateside. Dumb Dumb definitely grows on you very quickly. If you listen to it a couple times, don't be surprised if you get hooked. Since it's such a unique song, people can be taken aback/caught off guard on the first listen.
P.S. In case you all were interested, Dreamcatcher, the metal girl group you guys have reacted to a couple of times, is making their comeback with a new song and album in a week on February 13th.

You're definitely right about their songs being a bit more musically complex than a lot of other songs. They're actually known for doing songs across a multitude of genres and experiment more with the music in general.

what u should check out before the show: Their most recent albums "RBB 5th mini album", "Summer Magic mini album" & "Perfect Velvet 2nd album"(this one is my fav). Their more like eps so they wouldn't take a lot of time to get through. Music videos u should check out that u havent already are: "Happiness"(its their very first song), "Power Up", "Red Flavor" "Ice Cream Cake" & "Russian Roulette". Have fun at the concert! :)

Red Velvet is not known for their Title Tracks but their B-Side Tracks. You will get to hear their good songs from their albums on the concert. Check their The Red Album and The Perfect Velvet Album and you will see how musically diverse they are. Musicians will get inspired by their discography. 💯 percent Guaranteed BOPS!

Yeah, what Honan (that hair, dude!) said. Bad Boy and Peek-A-Boo are far and away my favourite songs by Red Velvet. Their recent comebacks like Power Up and RBB are....ok I guess, but for me aren't in the same league (as songs anyway, they might work really well in a live setting), and I wonder if they'll ever hit those heights again. Here's hoping though!

If you listen to a lot of their songs, they layer sounds and beats to create a song. The “dumb dumb...” is an example. Really bad boy is another good example. It’s what sets them apart. But not all of their songs are that way so at any given time you can be in the mood for any kind of Red Velvet song. Versatile I believe is the word folks.

You have to hear Automatic by Red Velvet.
The MV is a satire for the stereotype that artist from SM Entertainment (Red Velvet's company) are too "manufactured" and "robotic". Well how do I say, to become idol they are trained for years by the company. Then after they debut the song, the choreography, the MV, the group concept, everything are decided by the company. But that's just how KPOP industry works in general, not only SM. And that also applies to western music industry too. "Manufactured". But now it's different. KPOP artists are becoming more and more involved with their music direction including song writing and producing, the album concept etc.
The amount of low end bass in this song is insane :)
You guys need to listen to red velvet peform "goodbye" on the show immortal songs 2. It's probably one of their best live stage peformances. They're vocals sound absolutely amazing. Plus there's actually english subtitles lol anyway you definitely won't be disappointed👍❤

-> The whole criticism of Kpop being a heavily manufactured and that Idols are nothing but products that are churned out by entertainment companies; this is the theme of the song and is talking about how the entertainment companies want their idols to be "dumb" so that they are perfectly molded, created, marketed (cradle to grave type of thing) and controlled to be a certain way, to act a certain way and to represent their brand in a certain way like a mannequin.

I hope you have fun at your first kpop concert! I just remembered something that my metalhead friend and I talked about once in regards to kpop vs. metal shows that you might find interesting lol. So she told me at metal shows people avoid wearing the shirt of the band/tour that's playing, but I told her that kpop is the opposite! Wearing merch of the group you're seeing is encouraged (not mandatory), BUT wearing merch of another kpop group is generally very much avoided unless it's a festival or convention where multiple groups are there anyway. It might sound silly, but it's part of the sub-culture :)!
