    Very informative. I really liked your explanation. I would suggest to change the title of the video because I am planning to do this procedure and I have seen really good results from other people and their videos. So i was not looking to get s negative feedback about it and your title suggest that. And the truth is you didn't give me a negative insight but a very informed professional opinion about it.

      Hi Lastweektonight Show,
      That's great to hear that PRP has worked for you. However, my point is that PRP takes a lot of treatment sessions, and results should be sustainable for the long-term. Our treatment in comparison only takes 1-2 treatment sessions that can last 3-5 years. Also, pattern hair loss is a genetic condition hardwired into the DNA, so it can't be stopped completely, but it can be managed. Also, some treatment protocols, say TrichoStem Hair Regeneration often combined with finasteride, are more effective in long-term management than say PRP with finasteride, or finasteride alone, or PRP alone. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi@@yassingurhan6204,
      Traction alopecia can permanently damage hair follicles due to constant tension, and in such cases no treatment can revive the follicles, so a transplant may be the only option if the follicles are too damaged. Non-surgical scalp treatments only work on thinning hair, and hair follicles that are still viable but not growing hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Miss Roxxie,
      Thank you for your kind words. It's normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day, and as you say, they do grow back. Pattern hair loss is when the shed hair grows back thinner, and/or there is a delay in regrowth. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    I'm 30 and have hair loss from PCOS, uncontrolled diabetes and weight issues. I plan to undergo weight loss surgery, and my endocrinologist says that my hair should grow back on its own after complete weight loss since my hormonal panel and diabetes should improve. However, I would like for it to get some extra help in the growth process if it even does. What is a good percentage of how much hair grows back from the procedure you do? I would like to book an appointment once I get my procedure done. Thanks

      Hi RLR PLP,
      The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment is primarily for female pattern hair loss, but we do treat cases of PCOS on a case-by-case basis. It is good that you will go through hormone therapy first to see what you can recover for hair growth. We see visible improvement in scalp coverage in over 99% of our female pattern hair loss patients as standalone procedure. Since PCOS also requires additional treatment, and we see fewer patients for PCOS-related hair loss, we can't really give a success rate. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi Dr Prasad, My question is regarding the PRP injection procedure specifically: I’m going to a specialist facility for hair loss, paying ~$1k per PRP session. (1) How complicated or sophisticated is the actual injection procedure? I ask because i have had one session so far and the doctor just made one injection on each side of my temples. It was my understanding that they needed to inject in the hair follicle individually? but he said he was injecting along some sort of “plane” and he knew how to do it. It took him all but 5 minutes and I was just a bit surprised i paid such a hefty sum for so little of his time…
    (2) Should i be willing to let a nurse practitioner perform the injection procedure, or should I generally opt for the doctor himself? They are trying to book the nurse practitioner to do it but since I am paying so much if it might make a difference I would prefer the doctor? Maybe this procedure is super simple and effectiveness doesn’t generally increase w/ more experience from the person conducting the procedure, in which case I should be fine with the nurse practitioner? Thanks.

      Hi KoolA1d,
      It doesn't sound right that only your temples were injected, but at your peak hair count, there is about a 100,000 scalp hairs, so injecting individual follicles is not the approach either. You should have a doctor injecting your scalp, but I'm not sure about your doctor's expertise with this.
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older TrichoStem™Hair Regeneration patients don’t use maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride is a must for our younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss due to high DHT-sensitivity as TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is not a DHT-blocker. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely. Some TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first which we call the booster, but this is already included in the cost of the treatment plan, so you don’t pay extra for it. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent a sudden hair shed. I had my first PRP session 2 weeks. After 4 days I started shedding an insane amound of hairs. I've been losing my hair for more than a decade and I'm on dutasteride so my overall hairloss is minimal. All the hairs that I'm still shedding 2 weeks after the prp are tiny and extreamly thin hairs almost invisible. I didn't even know that I had so many to lose. Ive been trying many product from supplements, to hair shampoo hair tonics of so many brands nothing works. Ive been to many spas and salons they said the same thing, it might be due to stress and poor diet. But stress now is inevitable for as me as im having online classes. My hair is still falling especially when i wash my hair, i wash my hair everyday and averagely my hair will drop 10-15 strands in each wash. Ive tried scalp detox and mesotherapy but nothing worked. Yes my diet and stress needs to be taken care of but doc, what treatment do you suggest me to do, to stop or reduce my hair fall? will PRP be my last resort?

      Hi shaunlovesbread,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. It doesn't sound like female pattern hair loss as that occurs with gradual hair thinning over time, not just in a few months. What you have sounds like hair shedding, which is usually temporary, and can be caused by severe stress. Temporary hair shedding usually doesn't require treatment, but you should have a proper diagnosis of the cause. If you can't come and see us for a proper diagnosis, I suggest you see an experienced doctor for a scalp examination so the cause and issue can be confirmed. I hope this helps you.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Affluent Nerd,
      Close, but not quite that simple. Extracellular matrix is the main ingredient, and PRP is the activator. Also, not all extracellular matrix+PRP treatments are the same just because the ingredients are the same, as too little ECM and it's just like PRP alone, and too much causes hair shedding. The treatment lasts 3-5 years, or more, but younger men with high DHT-sensitivity will need a DHT-blocker as well as the injection treatment does not block DHT, and it's not a finasteride replacement. Men with high DHT-sensitivity who refuse finasteride will not get the same longevity of results. The second treatment is done 15-24 months after the first. Hi doc. which have better results for stimulating hair growth . Minoxidil or PRP?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Abdullah elAttar,
      Minoxidil usually only stimulates fine hair growth, which doesn't grow long. Minoxidil's main effect is to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extend the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily.
TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent a sudden hair shed.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi@@hammerdown2231,
      My general opinion on price is that a well-performed procedure saves you money in the long run. I generally don't perform FUEs because they produce less overall grafts, some grafts are still prone to thinning, and they have a higher rate of graft damage (transection) due to the individual graft harvesting process. I also don't perform PRP alone for hair loss because of the multiple treatment sessions for results that are not good, or last as long as ours which only needs 1-2 treatments that can last 3-5 years. I hope this helps you.

      Hi daniel ahmed,
      We don't currently offer the treatment in Europe, but we do have many patients from around the continent coming to the US for treatment (under normal travel conditions). Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age. Some patients with advanced hair loss may get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, and results for international patients are monitored through Skype, FaceTime, or email follow up.

      Hi Thejus 9446550924,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. I am assuming you are male. Male pattern hair loss is not cured or stopped, but it can be managed. It does need a proper diagnosis from a doctor before you start treatment. If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. You can refer to these videos about the importance of blocking DHT in young men with male pattern hair loss, and how we can go beyond DHT blockers alone to increase hair thickness and scalp coverage:

The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. There is no food or natural equivalent for a reliable DHT-blocker, especially if you are young with high sensitivity. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Anshika Singh,
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Hi @@mohamadgoni4295,
      Like I said previously, pattern hair loss cannot be completely stopped or cured, but it can be managed. That said, the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment does make thinning hair grow back thicker.

Cost of the treatment plan also includes the second booster treatment, if needed in advanced hair loss cases, as well regular follow ups to monitor your progress, either in our offices or through Skype, FaceTime or email. At its full cost, TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is priced at about half of a single FUT hair transplant, or about a third of an FUE transplant performed in the US. We do treat people with alopecia areata with TrichoStem Hair Regeneration, but this is on a case-by-case basis as it's primarily a treatment for pattern hair loss. While the treatment can help with hair growth and thickening thinning hair, it does not stop attack of the immune system on your body. While pattern hair loss cases need 1-2 treatments that can last 3-5 years or beyond, the unpredictability of alopecia areata makes the treatment protocol and longevity of treatment also unpredictable. Can finasteride and prp work for receding hairline...

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Manish Baviskar,
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Hi Giovanni Sanchez,
      I see patients all the time who have had injections of PRP alone elsewhere, and were frustrated with treatment. I don't treat pattern hair loss with PRP alone, but rather a combination treatment. Our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment was developed to improve surgical hair transplants, so I've been performing non-surgical hair restoration for 10 years, and surgical hair transplants for over 20 years. While I'm not disparaging your doctor, you can ask them about how long they've performed PRP injections for hair loss, and about their previous hair restoration experience prior to performing PRP injections. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Amicable,
      It's not clear whether you are male or female as causes of hair loss are different among men and women. However, Biotin is for hair growth and health, not for treatment of pattern hair loss which is genetic hair thinning.

      Hi@@Kidsplayhouse-k7s,
      The chances of sexual side effects from finasteride are extremely low, at about 2% of patients. There are much more common causes of sexual dysfunction in men such as excessive alcohol intake, smoking, lack of sleep, stress, and lack of exercise. Finasteride is a prescription drug, so if many doctors actually advise against it, it wouldn't be the most popular pattern hair loss drug in the world. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi David M,
      Not at the moment, but since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shreyans Sethia,
      Sorry, but the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment has to be done in one of our offices in the US. I think it's more important that you have your hair loss properly diagnosed by a local doctor, and get a prescription for finasteride to slow hair thinning. If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride. The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. PRP often requires multiple and constant treatments for limited hair growth, which doesn't last long-term. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Christopher Hughes,
      The protocols for PRP alone are usually one injection treatment every 1-3 months in the first year. Some practices claim once a year for maintenance, only to recommend more treatments for better results. We do have some advanced hair loss patients get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, but 2 treatments is the upper limit for the 3-5 year effectiveness, and there is no additional charge for the second or booster treatment. The cost of our treatment also includes regular follow ups to monitor your progress, but since you are from out of state, this can be done through email, Skype, or Facetime. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Deano Al,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. While hair that sheds due to chemotherapy normally grows back, you may have developed a concurrent issue at some point during your recovery. Has your hair loss issue already been diagnosed?

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi +houstone713HTX,
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. However, the Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment does work on 99% of female pattern hair loss cases. Hair Regeneration has PRP as the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment that so far has lasted over 5 years in our original patients treated over 5 years ago, and is still working for them. PRP injections for hair loss may be needed for life. Most female pattern hair loss patients can't have a hair transplant due to close proximity of existing hair from a diffuse hair thinning pattern. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi@Madhiya Suleman,
      Sorry, to hear that. PRP or a treatment like Hair Regeneration are used to treat pattern hair loss, while hair loss due to a hormonal imbalance is usually treated first through hormone therapy. It is possible you have concurrent pattern hair loss, but this needs to be confirmed with scalp biopsies in women.

    Weekly treatments is a money grab from a conman. I’ve never spoken with nor heard a doctor recommend 10 weekly injections.

      Hi Steve Wise,
      I didn't hear about 10 weekly injections either until I saw this question submitted. Even 10 monthly injections of PRP alone is questionable. The results of my patients shown in the video are from only 1 treatment session of our PRP combination treatment, although some patients get a second booster treatment 15-24 months after the first, with no additional charge as we charge for the full treatment plan. Results of our treatment last 3-5 years, or even more. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      @@AmiyaPrasadMD Thanks for the response. As for once a month for 10 months, I’ve never heard of that either, and frankly it’s a scam. The industry is unregulated in any way and some physicians and small pop up clinics are unethical. Lastly, can you please do a video about Exosomes, as that’s the latest and greatest.
      My 17 year old is rapidly losing his hair and yesterday we did a Zoom with a doctor in greater Seattle who used to extoll the virtues of ACell and suddenly pivoted to exosomes and treatment costs are significantly greater. Some doctors I watch and respect on TH-cam said exosomes are unproven in studies despite the FDA approval and patients are guinea pigs.

      Hi@@stevewise1656,
      I don't see any advantages of exosomes over our treatment that has had such a high success rate since 2011, with many doctors trying to replicate our results, and our treatment protocol. I am keeping an eye on exosome technology, and will provide updates if I see promise with it. I hope this helps you.

      Hi stealthcomp14,
      PRP does contain some of your own stem cells. Our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment does stimulate the body to produce its own stem cells called progenitor cells, which helps in renewing a healthier hair growth cycle so thinning hair grows back thicker. I hope this clarifies things for you.
