You may know this but in case others don't. You mentioned your notes about engraving the glass tiles. In Lightburn, when you create a project and have it up on the screen, you can go to File, then Show Notes and the project notes will appear. You can type in any details you want to remember about that engraving, like your depth settings and then on that screen, click on the option to "Show on File Open". That info is saved with the project file. Then the next time you open the project, say "4x6 beveled glass tiles.lbrn2", it will automatically pop up those notes and remind you of those details. You can save speed and power in the materials library but not depth or other notes. So this is a good way to save off that info. Hope this helped someone. Looking forward to the next video. Take care.
As always, this is a great informative video. But more importantly it did good to my emotional well-being. It made me laugh several times out loud. In fact, I laughed so loud my wife came out to the garage to see what I was doing. You, sir, are an inspiration to many of us. Keep up the great work!
I used your other settings from your other video and they worked great! BUT using transfer tape made a huge difference for the better, with the same settings. Transfer tape from here on out!! Thank you!
Glad we got to see you again. lol. I had stopped the video to screen shoot it . Pressed play and your saying I could screen shot it I lost it. 😂 I have a white board in my shed I write things down as my go to.
Using the colors for consistent marks by material is great for ease of setup if it works for you. It isn’t a bad idea to save the settings into the material library in lightburn too, that way if the setting by layer/color get reset, overwritten or whatever, you have the library of settings as a backup. I keep a copy of my materials and device config on google drive in case my computer craps out, so I could be back to fill production in minutes on a new pc if something went really badly. Hope it helps!
Thanks for the tips Matt! As far as the sanding pads, is there a specific grit you use? I see the variety pack and didn't know if you use all of them. Keep up great work!
Set up keeps getting better and better! Business must be good. I will say bah humbug to the doom and gloom people I'm finding my b2b sales are taking off. Quick question about the epilog; I read it doesn't use Lightburn? And would you say the Thunder is a better bang for the buck? Epilog to get anything decent is over 25k
I bought a bunch of cheap photo frames and am using my diode laser to engrave pictures I made using an AI art generator. I use tempera paint with a spray can that turns any paint into spray paint. I have to dilute it alot and it takes a long time to dry, even with a heat gun. I have to do 2 coats and 2 8x10 frames take about an hour, standing their with a heat gun to get them to dry. I really want a co2 laser but I live in an apartment and really have no room for one. I do everything out of my bedroom lol. I want to get into some acrylic cutting too, but for one 10 inch clock design, that is made in layers and I purchased, one layer would take 16 hours at 100% power. I realty don't want to burn out my laser module lol.
@Laser Engraving with Matt I did. It's a little underpowered for cutting acrylic. From what I've read it would take about just as long as my diode laser lol. Seems 60w is the minimum for my needs. Did see they sell a 100w one for about the same price, but has manual bed adjustment and no water cooler bundled with it.
Ok so I'm having a bit of a problem. I'm coming from an xtool d1 20w and engraved the crap out of glass and had really good luck with it. But it wasn't keeping up with what I needed to get done so I bought a thunder nova 35 and I absolutely love it lol, but everytime I try to engrave glass the etching chips out. I understand all laser are different and so you have to find your own settings. I've downloaded thunders materials list and have tried the setting for glass, I've tried you settings matt and I've tried an array of materials test grids anywhere from 300mm/s to 700mm/s and from 5%power to 25% . All of them seem to chip out once I sand them a little, or they survive the sanding but chip as soon as I hit them with a key. I have adjusted the focus from 6mm to 2mm. I have also used a different brand of glass, and still get same results. Any clue! Lol any advice will be greatly appreciated. I wish I could include a pic here
@Laser Engraving with Matt I'm just trying a materials test right now to see what settings works for glass. Top menu, laser tools and scroll down to materials test.
Nice video man! I just watched your other video too on rotary rolls, and I have a question: Rotary rolls are compatible with every laser? I have a Latitool F50 and I'm looking for a good rotary for this laser.
Matt, what size compressor would you use if you only had one 80 watt Co2? Also would like to know what lenses and rotary tool you use? Love your videos!
How many watts is your Thunder laser? Want to try and duplicate your results on our Thunder but I need to know how many watts yours is first. Thank you!
Hi Matt! You refocused to 5 than 2mm. What would be the measurement if you were engraving a powder coated mug? I have a different brand, and am trying to figure out what my offset would be. Thanks for all you do!
@@laserengravingwithmatt Thanks much! I have an 80w, and it uses 100%/100% scale instead of mm/m in their proprietary software. I had been struggling with the quality on glass, so defocusing may just be what I need! 😊
Howdy from CO. Enjoyed the video. I know you know and I know others know but I'm going to say it. Please put some glasses on when you scratch that glass with a key. I don't kringe from the sound, I kringe from the possibility. I made one stupid mistake when it comes to PPE use and I have been regretting it for the last 14 years. Don't be an idiot like me! lol. Hope the family is doing well. Take care.
@@laserengravingwithmatt it indeed do stinketh. However I love lasers. Your channel along with a couple others and getting a diode has made me love this stuff. Thank you for doing what you do

Just left the Epilog dealer in Plymouth! Thanks for letting me know on last weeks video
Nice. Hope it went well.

You should look into the omtech laser that is the size of glowforge.

setting at 8:48 but focus in to 2mm

Did you set up your laser right. Did you put the settings for the yellow or gold?
@Laser Engraving with Matt yellow or gold? You talking about the diffent layer color boxes ?
@Laser Engraving with Matt I'm just trying a materials test right now to see what settings works for glass. Top menu, laser tools and scroll down to materials test.
No they set a card with lines on it and it’s gold ish color and you need to put those settings into lightBurn
@Laser Engraving with Matt ok yeah I did that
Neat say can this be done with glass Acrylic etching
🤷♂️
@@laserengravingwithmatt well okay

I think I missed it, what was the final speed/ power settings for the final engrave? I know you focused to 2mm...
500. 15. .08

Epilog laser only can use Epilogs rollers. But boss rotary’s can be used by most lasers.
Matt, what size compressor would you use if you only had one 80 watt Co2? Also would like to know what lenses and rotary tool you use? Love your videos!
I use whatever came with the thunder laser on all three items.
So would I focus in 3mm from my normal focus point (which is 16.5mm) If so, I'll try it tomorrow..
My focus is only 6mm so I go into 3mm
What wattage thunder are you doing the glass on? What grit is that sandpaper? I think l was at 8mm focus, 450 speed, 57% power, 450 lpi on my mira 7
Speed 500. Power 15 line interval .080

100
