- Very questionable poker strategy in this week's hands. We have a big spew in a 3 bet pot, a dubious bluff in another 3 bet pot, and difficult river call down in our online poker hand review.

I'm extremely confused how a lot of you guys are playing high stakes when you don't know what you're doing. The last video was pretty bad, but now you don't even know that you 3x+ (especially this deep) your cold 4bets from the blinds? It's so weird seeing guys who have no idea how to play playing high stakes. Your downswing was definitely not standard either unless it was like HU or 500 zoom on stars. I wish people would admit they didn't grind up from poker alone because this shit is getting absurd. I can only afford to play 25,50nl zone and I am baffled, frankly.

Sometimes we gotta make mistakes at the tables mate! Rest assured a smaller than optimal 4b sizing is not going to cost us such a significant amount of EV, but that doesn’t excuse the mistake as I mentioned. @@BenaBadBeatPoker It's not a mistake. Some of the last video and this cold 4-bet sizing are literally autopilot moves for a 50nl player, let alone a supposed 2knl winner. If you are really winning, all this really shows is that higher stakes are full of whales, or low stakes rake traps ruin the ecosystem and we have to constantly see people who have no clue play the big games - even online. As long as they avoid the crushers, they make a ton of money and get to pretend they are the crushers - especially when they all hide their graphs.
yeah if you wanna build a roll in 2024 , you literally into a rake trap , still possible tho , don't take your frustrations on people that should be irrelevant for you ? otherwise i don't really understand why you're complaining, other than being butthurt that you can't reach high stakes.. you just have no idea how the games play there and much better they are than you, but much better can be a small margin in 2024, experience and knowing at what rake and against who you're playing against , would be enough for Ben to build a roll to HSs compared to your top small stakes reg @@derekluna7700

The masterclass in Strategy vs Whales with K5, did you ever think of adjusting preflop sizing to larger to try to prevent it going MW or was it just one of these people who VPIPs only as a 3B and 3Bs like 30% of the time?

Yeah it’s a concern for sure. There is some movement within the community in the hopes that changes can take place. Especially after all this acr/gg debacle. It’s too early to say if it’s worth playing if I’m honest!

The QQ-hand. Is the min 5b with ATs really good? Since he obv 5bets ATs as a bluff and not value, there must be some kind of fold equity for the bet to be ok. How much of your range do you really fold when given such great odds anyway?
I imagine it’s OK! It has good blocking qualities (AA) and also cleanses eq vs other portions of my range like KQs. as always, prob fine at freq!

I have a few suggestions:
As you are just starting, I think interesting to catalog your videos in playlists, like reviews, live plays, database reviews, theory and so on.
And that being said, you can have a playlist with top pots of the day or week and show all of them, without picking just hands that you want to show. Because I feel like, poker players in general, don't want to show the bad plays they make just like everybody else.
I don't know if it's your case or not, but another insight for you don't fail with you channel is, poker players should not label ourselves as high stake players, NL500 player, NL200 player, etc... because when they get downswings and start to play lower stakes, they just stop producing content because of the mindset/ego problems that label can cause.
I like your thoughts process and how you play. Good job!
great suggestions, thank you! we have begun the playlist thing of ‘road back to highstakes’ and will be focusing on that for 5 videos total. from there there’ll be a period of review and decisions about where we wanna take the channel. I’m not overly keen on doing theory videos as that isn’t the stuff I find as interesting to discuss, but it’ll be sprinkled in for sure.
100% agree that too many poker players post boring coolers and winning graphs. I’m absolutely not about that at all. My blog/ig showed winning and losing both in hands and graphs. And as you can see, me posting hands that I admitted to playing poorly have been jumped on hahaha.
As for continuing to post long term, I obviously can’t predict what I’ll do. What I do know is that I’ll never stop posting just because I’m losing! Thanks again mate
The K5s hand is your standard low stakes live hand. Give them the rope and they will be the dope. Given your background, do you play much live? I would think your skillset would be a massive advantage.
haha yeah proper live hh. I used to play a lot of live before I went pro but once I started playing full time online I just couldn’t get to grips with the horrendous sleep routine thay live poker often brings! I occasionally will dabble as I do really enjoy it, but could never play live full time

almost exclusively yes! I love the lifestyle that poker *can* offer, but the early in my career I did the late nights and overall didn’t think it was good for me!
Can you please explain why the 3 bet to 165 is bad? Is it becsuse hes ip and shouldnt be going bigger than 3x while in position
it’s definitely not bad, but not something you see from regs. in anon pools you need to grab as much micro info as possible!

if we look at solved ranges (which is what nearly all regs use to study) we see that optimal sizing is generally smaller as IP and a lot bigger as OOP. Fwiw, going 8.25 isn't bad, it's just not something you see that often

Idk why would you open K5s if SB is 3betting like crazy, you get dominated by all of his K8o.
could well be a pure fold with 55 but Im sure it’s close. while it’s true they can have hands like K8o that we’re dominated vs, I believe we just have such extreme eq vs range with K5s
My only complaint is you won a lot of the pots I'm used to seeing ridiculous beats and losses
