Late to the party here but what do you think about just iso-raising range vs. recreations who limp SB? Generally not facing nearly enough limp-raises so even if they overcall we just realize our equity. Plus they will have garbage like 74o lol
@@BenaBadBeatPoker Yeah I ran some preflop sims with MDA frequencies for fish before and solver was just Iso-raising range no matter what. And that's with solver playing "balanced" within those frequencies as well. i.e. no limp-raise = AA read lol
Hey Ben, in the 97hh hand you said you make a very big raise OTT. The initial PS was 220 and V bets 100, so a pot sized raise would have been 520. You make it 475, which is a bit under, so is it really that big? Once Villain calls we have a ~160% pot river bet left. So my question(s) is/are: Wouldn't it be better to polarize a bit more OTT, let's say to around 2e? Do we really pressure Villains OPs enough with an
I’ll be totally honest with you mate - live stack size reading and pot size calculations are not my forte since I barely play live 🤣. I was trying to make it pot. that said though, we are insanely deep and smit will still have JJ/TT here so I would imagine 2e is a little on the thin side ott. that doesn’t mean my sizing is right though, a good clip bigger (pot would be my preference) seems the way to go. thanks for your thoughts!
The original pot size is £120. 30x4. You can see the graphics change to the pot size being 220 after I bet 100. Therefore, a pot sized raise would be £420 (blaze up), and Ben's raise is larger than that.
Found the 3-bet pre with QJss interesting versus 50bb stack - I don't think I find those merged 3-bets very often that shallow - I'm guessing vil was opening wide and defending to 3-bets +++
Great Video, i would Love to hear you're thoughts about the mental Game. Maybe you can do a video or answer Here, because I am very interested in hearing your thoughts. How are you handle These Bad Sessions? IT seemed Like you were Not very unhappy after the 7 buy in los and even played after that live. Are you tilted or how are you regulating your emotions? Thank you.
mental game video is top of the list but it’s going to have to be made when I move back to aus due to moving all over the place atm. definitely don’t find myself tilted when losing buy ins, but there has been some frustration with accumulated tilt. I have done a lot of mental game work over the years though and used to suffer from different forms of tilt for sure. emotional regulation has been essential yes. I will absolutely make a video sometime 🙏
Great content as played I think the last hand would be a call for me lead river are very polarized at live poker bluff or very strong. A5 would be my bottom of my reraise
You seem to massively over-estimate the calibre of your opponents when playing live. The QT calldown with top pair is almost never good there and the J5o is between a crying call and a fold for me, never a raise. They just always have it.
yep I could well be overestimating them! what would you do in the QT hand? not raising river with the J5 seems quite crazy to me but you may be right too hahaha
On the QT your banking on him bluffing like K9/AT/T9 bdfd or even 88/TT which for a passive rec he has those at about 0% frequency + he’s not value betting worse. With that being said I’m fucking miles below benabadbeat in terms of poker knowledge/ skills/ accomplishments
@@BenaBadBeatPoker I'd probably just ship the QT on the turn and lose but at least I wouldn't be getting it in too badly. The advantages of just calling are to keep his bluffs in - but he doesn't have any bluffs - and potentially get away on the river - but you can't get away on the river. Therefore there's no advantage at all.
@@Mathemagical55 I think call is correct. Against the range that pot leads and barrels not all in, every straight out should be good, and so I think we can exploitatively call and win his stack if we get there and fold if we miss. We certainly have pot odds + implied for this to be okay
People just have way fewer bluffs live than online, even at higher stakes. It's much easier psychologically to bluff online because all you do is click a button, while in live poker you have to actually carve out the chips and bet with nothing, plus the bluff region live is generally just absolute garbage since very few regs are willing to bluff against players they think are pretty good in big spots (it's way more plus EV to not reg battle), and so the recs just end up bluffing missed flush draws and stuff like that. It's a different game, and you save so much money by just folding.
yeah can totally see this being true. are you saying that the 2 hands I called/raised with (the QT and the J5o) should be folded/called respectively? where do we fold the QT if we do fold it? ty!
@@BenaBadBeatPoker I don’t know the full details of player type and pool but I’ll go with everything that I do know. The QTo hand is annoying because we are basically priced in on the flop even though he basically led pot. You said it was a passive recreational, but big leads are almost never marginal hands or draws. Since he bet so quickly, I’d rule out straights and sets and I would immediately think of two pair hands. Because of this we’re also priced in on turn, but river just has to fold, we beat nothing. You could also make an argument to fold turn but I think all outs are good here. As for J5 there’s a general process for when fish lead that I follow. For flops in non 3-bet pots it means they don’t want to get raised or see big bets and want to see the next cards (assuming small lead). River spots are a bit different in that you have to figure out what changed on the river and why he wants to bet. Since you bet big on turn, he’s gonna put you on strong hands, and is not leading because he has top pair or whatever, he’s either gonna have a missed draw and bluff or rivered a straight with 74 or a boat with 33, especially seeing big leads (over 60% pot). Against this range obviously raising sucks. Whether I would call or fold depends on player but I don’t think we beat value here. The lead is the problem, if we checked back turn, I would also raise massive on the river facing bet. At this point I exclusively play live poker so this is just from my experience, and I think it’s a completely different game after coming from 200NL online to playing 2/5 and 5/10 live games.
awesome feedback, thanks. yeah the thing with the QT is that I simply can’t not call flop or turn, and then by river I’m calling 18bb to win like 90 lol. such insane odds but obviously odds mean nothing if we’re legit dead always. again, no confident reads so I’m just gunna have to flick it in (imo ofc). as for J5, the guy seemed pretty whaley so it felt like a not overly comfortable-but-forced raise spot. someone else in the comments has played with this player a lot and said it’s a raise fwiw, however without this read (which I was basically readless) it could be a river flat in reality. such ridiculous dynamics 🤣🤣
Nice vlog. Disagree on your read on the last hand..."clearest raise of all time" imo you can disregard like 95% of 5x from him when he snap checks the trun on a wet card especially in a limp pot. As played you will look into bluffs, straights and set of 3's a ton here and thats why i'd just call.
pretty sick you’d just call river and disregard all those 5x. not saying you’re wrong by any means but it’s pretty damn hard for them to have a straight or a better 5 with the line. although maybe it’s literally always only ever those hands 🤣
@@BenaBadBeatPoker 1) timing tells are def a thing here. If a rec has 5x he atleast thinks about it on the turn 2) disregard even more combos because he didnt xr I only play live Poker and from my expierience they will show you atleast 70 combos of missed draws with this line. But if he has it he has it.
Yea Idk about the J5 raise tbh. I just think a recreational player taking this line is incredibly polar here. He is never playing a weak 5 or value that you beat like this imo. Most recreational players are terrified of getting outdrawn on FD boards so are unlikely to check call with vulnerable hands in my experience. Think you are either gonna run into 53, 33, a straight and a lot of air balls. Love all your content though.
definitely could be a fair assessment - I still don’t see why they can’t have a weaker 5 or a hand like AA though. but the sizing is very indicative is strength at the same time so I’m happy to be wrong
