So awesome to see you young people out chasing adventure! Really appreciate the amount of effort you have put into making this video. Can’t wait to see more!
Couldn't say it better! 😁
Thank you so much, that really means alot! :)
lets go! been waiting for this video! Also, you guys make my favourite 4wd content on youtube. If you and 4wd 24/7 uploaded on the same day, I'd watch your video first.
Thanks Alex! That means alot!
Can’t compare the two, these guys are awesome and it’s not just a paid sponsor ad for 1/2 an hour like with those other wackers who rip up tracks and don’t care for the environment because they’ve just got to look cool on camera 😡
@@4WheelingInNSW Yeah, these blokes are far more relatable in their set ups, their trips and are just better lol. 4wd 247 is a tv show pretty much, entertaining but doesnt have the same personal feel as Patty, Liam, Dan and the rest of the boys do. I still like to watch 4wd 247 but I go back and rewatch Aussie arvos all the time because its just so good.
@@alexhill_79 yeah I stopped watching 4WD 247 when they changed from 4WD Action in the earlier years... they just turned into unrelatable cowboy sponsored episodes. They’re just tossers now.... it’s like watching an hour long infomercial for all their free crap
100%
Your story telling skills via your editing skills is just getting better and better. IMO you managed to capture the ups and downs of this trip so far. Perfect use of the right background music for the scenes. It adds excitement and/or drama of the situation. 👍 I'll be doing my K'gari trip next year. So seeing this is making me more excited. 🤞it's not as wet as your trip. Looking forward to watching the rest of your journey.
Thank you so much hammer, I really appreciate the words mate! Makes all the effort worth it! Cheers :)
Epic vid mate, driving through bad weather just makes the trip even more memorable. I can imagine how much effort it is to set up your camera gear, take the shot and have to pack up and keep going again. Even better seeing it done in an older vehicle.
I don't even 4WD but I love watching you guys work shit out and have fun doing it. Reminds me of rebuilding my first car, 69 XT Falcon. No idea but loads of youthful enthusiasm.
Thanks max!
Mate, the intro to this video was so Aussie and cinematographic I thought you might have had Baz Luhrmann directing. Your video/editing skills are becoming next level with intros like that 👍
Awesome editing and what an intro🙌🏽. Never a bored second, good work Patrick!!
Thanks Anya :) ❤️
queenslandler here, pretty much every time it rains you needs the aircon on to draw the moisture out of the cab to minimise the chance of fog on the windows
Awesome video man, keen for the next one. I feel like your content is way more relatable and appeals to the average person that wants to go travelling, camping or 4 wheel driving compared to other channels that are overloaded with sponsorships and $100K-$200K rigs, and expensive over the top gear that the average punter doesn’t need. Keep these videos coming they’re grouse
Thanks mate! that means alot!!
Had the same problem with my jayco eagle we put some corflute under bed stop condensation Create an air gap between the floor and the mattress helps heaps

Lived in Hervey Bay for 10 odd years and certainly no stranger to the rains that come through that area, so diff from Vic. Glad you had a great trip, driving on Fraser is something you'll def want to come back to.
Enjoying your trip so far. I would definitely recommend at least a pair of recovery tracks (2 sets is preferred), if you're planning to drive on sand. They're one of the cheapest and best self-recovery insurance you can have. Great editing. Looking forward to the next episode. 👍
Yeah. Recovery boards are highly recommended for sand driving.
What an epic start to your trip, I took my family up the east coast last may and we had a similar problem with the weather, it rained for days and everything I had booked along the way was thrown out the window. We made it to fraser and had a blast. Decided to drive back to Melbourne in 1 shot from Harvey Bay. 23 hours later with stops to fill up and grab food we were back at home. I drove the whole way back, my wife and kids slept most of it haha
Patty your killing it matey I bloody love your vids 👏 👍 👌
Thanks Troy! Really appreciate it :)

The Dish is an awesome Australian movie made in Parks about the moon landing and Australia's involvement in the landing and the dish in Parks. awesome vid guys so good to see all the different country towns.
Love the mix of what you include and the pacing of the editing. Can't wait for the next episode.
Thanks Hans! Means alot!
You're a legend mate, I remember when you first bought the cruiser I watch the whole build from start to now awesome adventure that you and your misses are going on you're inspiring me to go mate
Cheers,
Bash.
The water in your tent is from the mattress being up against the canvas, when wet it pulls the water through I’ve had the same issue with sheets but mainly pillows sleeping up that end
Found putting a piece plastic between sheets and the canvas or just being more mindful of pulling sheets away from canvas
It's great to see you young fellas getting out there and encountering all those mistakes! The honesty is refreshing. It takes me back to mine. Remember the only people who don't makes mistakes are those that don't do anything. Problem solving as you go is what makes you a capable person. Throw the induction cooker away. Same with the cartridge gas cooker. they always leak gas sooner or later. A single ring burner straight on top of a gas tank with a windshield is the way to go for a minimalistic set up. It always works. You definitely need 4 recovery boards, preferably on lanyards or tie lines back to the vehicle so you don't have to stop once you get going. You wont believe how fast the tide can come in some parts of Australia (mainly the west and north). You should consider doing a video on the speed of the tide during the fast rise period which occurs twice a day for about 2 hours each time. Do lots of research and make a basic plan but try not to book anything. Booking is mainly for the benefit of the service provider, not you. Sooner or later your plans will change rapidly. The superb independence of your rig enables you to be enormously flexible with your plans. That is why we set them up that way! Have a ball.
Totally agree, shit happens to those who do stuff is my motto
@@tonygersbach375 :Love that motto. Everything is about how you look at it. If I make a mistake; great!; I just learnt something. I lose an argument; Great! I just learnt something. The key to life really isn't about winning every argument. It's about the losses. Then you learn something. When you learn something be greatfull. The person who won the argument against you did you a great service. If you stop learning you may as well be dead. You'd be less of a hindrance to the rest of us.
Happy trails.
Awesome episode mate. Loved it. And all that rain sucked arse. Great to see it didn’t stop ya. 👍🍺
Good on you guys. It will be a really good trip. The odd hotel/cabin when needed is just a part of touring. Especially if you don't have a caravan. Just go with it and enjoy a bit of easy living when it happens. Look forward to the rest of the trip.
Thanks RD! That's it, thanks for the support!
Great ep. and trip so far. Love your videos mate and although I am at the other end of the age scale and about to become a travelling grey nomad I can’t wait to get on the road. I own the first ever 80 sold in ACT ! I am in the process of getting the old girl ready to head off on a lap next year and have enjoyed watching your build videos . Keep them coming.
love the honesty in these videos and how relatable they are to me ! keep up the good work
Great video mate,
Really enjoying the little facts you are dropping in about great landmarks.
Some of the shots are amazing too, that Astro shot on the Murray was magnif!
This is what the channel / YT-algo needs.
what a awesome episode, can't wait for the next one! this reminds me of most of my trips, all the planning and normally turns to shit. Always makes a good story! thanks again 🍺
Thanks Daniel!!
Has got to be one of your best vids! Absolutely awesome!

Served ya at bunnings a few weeks back looking for the water taps (Littarly spotted them at 5:56) and i rember you guys had a big trip planned. Didnt think it was gonna be this big though. Cant wait for part 2, gonna be epic.
Holy shit, 9:15 the tractor and truck that crashed. That was my mates uncle in the tractor. You would be happy to know that everybody was alright, no major injuries.
4wd action brought me to your channel and I couldn’t be happier. Love your content
What an awesome first episode. Looking forward to #2.
Awesome road trip so far despite weather, lucky for me it was sunny from Victoria to Bundaberg few years ago. Interesting when I got to Qld I drove to Gold Coast, then onto M1 but turn off to Ipswich n travel back road to Gympie to Maryborough to Bundaberg. Stopping at Goondiwindi was favourite spot n seeing harvesting season too aka spot tractors n combines/header.
Looking forward to the next vid Pat. Great to see someone showing what happens when things DON'T go to plan as well.
Thanks Mick! This trip has alot of that 😂🤙👌
@@AussieArvos Always fun mate lol. Look forward to seeing it. Good to see you getting out on a big trip.
Same here been waiting up for 49sec maybe I was the first to watch lol👍 lam keeping watch on your 12v system iam on small budget too
PS: I love the grandiose music at the start! It is completely fitting for the start of your great adventure. There is nothing quite like the first great adventure.
Thanks Mark!!
Definitely waited for this video! Made me just want to go for a road trip! Not to the extreme of Fraser cos I can’t get that much time off but maybe up to nsw or Canberra. I’m from vic with a 10 month. Love the trip up and the updates on where you stayed. Know you don’t have to stay at expensive places on the way up helps the mrs seeing you both doing it. Keep it up Patrick! 😄
One of your best videos so far, awesome job guys
Mate well done. Editing skills are coming along way. Can see you being the next 4x4 24/7! Enjoy
Patrick, to stop your windscreen from fogging up put your A/C on demist😊
I was over on the island around the same time for the Fraser Island clean up. Was very wet and bedding also got a little damp but still a great weekend away.
Awesome video guys, the quality is improving so much with each upload. Cant wait for the next episode!!
Definitely a challenging trip so far, look forward to the next episode 😃🇳🇿
I missed this vid due to life... you guys seem like a great couple and you look like you had a great time! Fraser is definitely on the bucket list.
We absolutely love Fraser Island 🏝 😍😍
The rain was mental this year, we took kids to Fraser in April had perfect weather that week. Inskip up & River Hds back.
Ah K'gari, (Fraser) what a destination, go there August annually to get away from the southern cold, whale watch, cruise without a care in the world, best holiday destination, nothing else is so relaxing. If you're not experiencing that, you're doing it wrong somehow.
With that amount of rain, the sands of K'gari will be firm, no need for boards, just endure yourselves to all on offer, and sleep snugly in that rooftop tent.

OMG mate we passed that same accident heading south on our road trip to Melbourne. Glad to know we passed you on the highway.
Pulled up and had a chat to you guys when your cruiser wouldn’t start on the Woralie track. Good to see you’re back on the road!
This has to be one of your best videos yet. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Mike! I really appreciate it!
For most budget-mid range oriented lithium batteries, a general rule of thumb is 100A current draw (BMS limitation) regardless of capacity.
That's lower than what a 1500w inverter will demand, a second battery to share the current draw will fix the power problem.
Fabulous video Patrick, really enjoying your videos mate, hope you both had a fabulous trip and can’t wait to see you next one
I feel your pain re. flooding. We got caught in flooding coming back from Fraser Island in early January.
Nice 1 Liam, I've done the same trip as you 2yrs ago from Daintree to Melbourne and back up again. It's a very exciting and epic journey, and yes we got just as much rain as you
Hai anna iam Nagendar Anna -Xvideos na age 27 Zeimbut.Host qualification m.l.t medical lab techniciany ,Srpt lo jobs unte cheppagalaru anna.with govt Jobs,...
Thats Patrick not liam
Lithium batteries aren't meant to be used for high power draw, they're meant for long power draw.
They are not a very good battery for jump starting cars
That all depends on the Lithium, the rating, but primary to all that is what the BMS allows you to draw, 100 amp continuous for Kings I think, however others allow significantly more, mine is 150 continuous, 175 for 5 mins, 270 briefly, so not an issue running the items Pat has here. Lithium LifePO4 is designed exactly for the purpose being used, just source appropriate BMS controlled Lithium (Pat, not having a shot at you, love what you're up to, where you're at in development), just replying informatively about Lithium.
Your right, Lithium LifePO4 is not designed for drawing cranking current either, but Pat isn't drawing cranking current. However, Lithium ION is designed for cranking, Winching, jump starting but not for continuous draw, don't confuse the types.
Done well mate, pity you didn’t stay long enough in Wagga for the 5 o’clock wave!!! 👍❤️🇦🇺
Love that your all about making the touring life possible on a budget as the big show TH-camrs would lead the novice 4wder into thinking they need to spend 20k on their vehicles just to get out there!
What a mission buddy, the amount of rain the east has had is insane, looking forward to Fraser, on my bucket list 👍👍👍👍

Rockin Mate Great video!
I know the feeling with the 80 as I have one haha.
The Old Man and myself use to do that drive every year in the 80's And its a Big country when you drive it. But its a thing we Love to do.
Seen and had to sit for hours around Floods In QLD It was common back in the day.
See your mud mats on the Bull Bar? do have water getting into the floor pan?
Mate The Trip Of A Lifetime Great Mems And Great Experience
You missed the nice free showers at the water park in Goondiwindi! And there are some nice free spots on the river
Just broke my shoulder and I get home with an Aussie arvos trip waiting for me. How good
The trip for you guys reminds me of one ex partner and i did down to the vic high country one year. Rained non stop week leading upto the trip rained all way down, flooded everywhere. They closed down all the highcountry, we waited and visited other towns till they reopened it. Was an awsome trip but.
Lol, I'm famous (again). That was me on the UHF, but not in a truck, I was in the red Jag that was passing you, then turned into the United at Wodonga.
you should of went to tewantin and stayed at the first camp site on noosa northshores then drove from there to rainbow

Great video, informative & entertaining, you put it together very well 👍 Where heading to Fraser in a few week & your video is very helpful 👊
Welcome to Qld mate. Fraser is just the beginning of many amazing places to see up here.
Nice content mate keep up the good work 👍🍻 can I ask what happened to your your brother liam and big boy dan don't thay do there own eny more is it just you from now on ?
This is why I love my drifta tent with the overhanging front entrance, it's gotta be raining pretty much sideways for it to get rain in the front
Best advise I can give point the rooftop head on into the wind when parked at night to minimise the flapping off the rooftop instead goes up and over the hard top part 🤟🏻 nothing worse than being woken up middle of the night getting blown sideways and it flapping about
Been waiting for this trip since I first found you guys!!
I did a cairns -> Fraser Island and return trip over Easter. 1990 gxl 80 with a 200hp 1hdt. Running a tjm Yulara rtt and pretty similar camping set up to what you have. Averaged 13.4L/100km with it. Gotta be happy with that.
Great video ! wow what a thrill seeking road trip adventure so far !! 🌬️ heaps cool ! can't wait to see the next part ! well done congrats on your trip so far !

So good to see a such relatable trip video, went to Fraser in April 2019 and had an unforgettable experience even though the weather was against us most of the way.
Such an awesome vid Mate 👍👍
Literally went to fraser around this time, managed to get on fraser the day before all this rain and flooding
When is part 2? My wife and daughter are breaking my balls about it haha.

I have to ask,What stereo are you running in the LandCruiser? It looks really good

Epic vid!! Would love to do Fraser Island, but from Vic too and it is a long drive. Re condensation on the bottom of the mattress - I get the same in my swag. You could stick some towels between the bottom mattress and the tent, and air those out periodically.

That big orange thing that had the police in is Hitachi digger looked like a ex5600 or ex8000
Came across your channel recently. Love the raw style! I'm from Melbourne but I've been living over in British Columbia for 7ish years (vancouver/whistler). I have a delica van that mw and my gf sleep in, with a rhino rack batwing awning and slowly building up my rig like you have. The batwing does amazing in the rain and the added rain protection means you can cook at the back area and chill on the side etc
I've been thinking about getting a RTT like yours for when my mum comes over for a month soon, so she can sleep in the van and we can sleep up top. But with wind and rain and having to climb the ladder are putting me off! Plus less cargo capcity up top (have a big roof box). Thinking a Oztent (that can zip onto my awning), or Gazelle popup hub tent
induction cookers pull 2000 watt your inverter is only 1500 i have a kings 3000w inverter with kings 120 amp lithium battery and works great never stopped on me yet
2000amps?... Everything would melt.
@@Robert-cu9bm meant watts
