I boil 1 kettle of water and pour into a 15L bucket then add 5L of additional water and throw in a $30 submersible shower pump into the bucket. Done. Works a treat!
Hi, if you purchase a 13mm brass one way valve and place it on your garden hose, you can then place the water filter and pickup just below the valve. Fill the garden hose with water connect it to the inlet on the pump. This way the pump can remain close to your vehicle. If you weld a short piece of pipe onto you roo-bar in a vertical orientation. Then purchase a length of aluminum tubing, long enough to give you a decent head clearing and use a diameter that will fit snugly into the tube you welded to your roo-bar. Purchase a length of aluminum tubing fashion it into a basket ball ring bend it around a 44 gallon drum. Weld the ends of the tube together and add a short spike vertically to the ring so that the spike will fit snugly into your vertical length of tubing. Fix a plastic shower curtain via rings to the basket ball ring. Suspend a wire or plastic shower basket from the ring for soap etc, purchase a rubber front door mat to stand on. Hang a butchers hook off the ring to hang your towel and clean cloths on. Now you will be clamping and your missus will dig it. You can now shower naked with privacy anywhere you like. It worked for me wink wink. instead of that big box of stuff I fashioned a heat exchanger out of a 350 x 150mm copper pipe. I place coils of 3/8 soft walled copper tube inside the 150mm drilled two 13mm holes in the top of the 150mm silver soldered to 13mm uprights into those holes and soldered the two ends of the 3/8 to them. I clamped garden hose to them (this is for the cold water). I found the diameter of the heater hose coming from the vehicle engine block, mine was 19mm I cut that rubber tube inserted 2 x19mm T pieces. I then drilled and soldered 2 x 19mm copper uprights into the 150mm copper tube on the same plain as the 2 x13mm cold water pipes. I silver soldered 2 x 150mm welsh plugs into the 2 ends of the 150mm tube to seal the exchanger. I used heater tube to run between the 2 x 19mm tubes and the 2 x 19mm T's. When your vehicle engine warms up use a 12V pump which I mounted on the inner guard of the engine bay to pump cold water through the 3/8th coils, the engine circulated the radiator coolant through the 19mm heater tubes in the150mm copper tube, heating the cold water in the process. (flowing cold water can reach boiling point) I used a garden nylex Y junctions with water flow regulator tabs fixing the shower rose with on /off switch via a length of garden hose to the Y junction. Now run the hot water to the second point of the Y junction. I then placed another Y junction coming of the cold water pick up pipe and ran a second piece of garden hose between the two Y junctions. You can then regulate both hot and cold water pressure and temperature via the Y junction with the two regulator tabs. You can then ditch that big box of goodies and the gas bottle. You have instant boiling water for a cuppa on call. PS I have mounted this same system to every 4x4 I have owned in the last 40 years with out any issues. Use stainless steel adjustable hose clamps through the system. use good quality garden hose with fibre insert.
Looks like a great complete hot water system kit. I like how it all packs into the one container too. But IMO this is more suited for caravans, camper-vans and or camper trailers. Or 4WDs with a huge canopy setup. For a wagon style 4WD, it takes too much valuable space. I have an 80 Series, and only go camping with my GF, and we have hardly any space left. Imagine if you have kids onboard also.
My shower setup in my 105 is just the companion rechargeable camp shower and a 23zero shower awning, we just heat up a pot of water on the stove then drop the showers pump into that, takes up barely any space since the shower fits into a tiny bag and we already have the pots for cooking
Totally agree, I use the KickAss shower and even with the spare battery it fits in my door pocket. Hot showers are a little more work but for the space and weight saving I don’t mind. The other advantages is you can use the cheap shower in saltwater as long as you clean in fresh water after.
There does look to be a fair bit of empty space in that box. I reckon you could condense it down into a smaller box or bag but you'll have to sacrifice the stand and sink.

Pro tip, having a 12 volt ( seaflo ) portable water pump i use to refill van tanks etc from a river or what not, i use a 3 dollar bunnings garden stake, punch that into the bank or similar, tie off the pump suction inlet just at the top of the water line as not to suck air, but also not to suck sediment, i do use an old water bottle as a float some times as well. Yes it has a pre filter, however, less grit and shit in your pump wont fu ck it. less dirt at the top of the water line than 6 inches under.
Just FYI, if space in your vehicle is a major concern, there are a few similar items that are already in the market that are 1/3 or less the size of this.
Awesome shower my parent have on in there camper trailer. But it's not a real touring shower because it uses way to much water and you practically need a running stream because it just drinks the water. But if you can fit it and have running water why not 🤘
I think the most difficult part to this (and I can’t seem to find a video covering it) is assuming we’re going to be using it off-grid out of a water source like. 5 gallon jug 1) what size/power 12 volt pump to buy without spending a lot 2) which connectors (including quick connects) and size hosing do I need to buy (for the camplux) so that they all don’t leak? Sorry but there are SOOO MANY TYPES/SIZES of CONNECTORS that it becomes VERY FRUSTRATING 😢. for those of us that are not plumbers. 13:31 3)what gauge wires (and on/off switch) will I need to build an extension to my 12volt fuse block with on/off switch. Any help on these matters are greatly appreciated! 13:31
nice, i have used the Aqua Cube for the last 7 years, it has been awsome. on my last trip it finally failed so i have been looking at a new set up, think i might go this way.
My little version worked well during the gas outage here recently. It only has a15deg rise so I had to pre heat the water bucket to get the hottest showers. My small unit has rechargeable batteries and pump built in with internal gas. So I would have to carry it to the creek to use.
To increase the temp, I use a Gerry can or container, turn on the system and put both the inlet and outlet are into the same container for 5 minutes. I do this when car camping in the cold or snow.
I love your video's, have you seen FJ touring and camping. There a lot of water in the hoses. How trying to carry water. Why not recycle shower, solar bags, or heat water stove and campfire. A copper tub say on the sizzler BBQ stove with pump. It's something on my mind and outback travel.
I have a ever shower. I have the same camper as going overland, his washing cloths and ev 4x4 video is worth a watch. I loved the lights video. I bought a few Pir sensors. I have built an alarm. Also seen a video with 3m colour tape for changing led lights for inscets. Russell
Looks like it could be a great addition to a Camper, Caravan or Trailer. I will keep them in mind for my trailer build when it finally gets done as Im planning to set up a shower system on that. As for using it just with my Pajero I feel it would take up way too much space.
Love the vid can I ask where you got the three-way connection?I'd love to get one for my camper trailer just need the three-way connection so I can well. Cheers mate
I have this unit and have been using it for 2 years. Mine came with the internal connections loose and leaking but once i tightened everything up its been great.
Are you considering and In line filter on the hose when pumping water for usage or to fill up tanks or jerry cans? Some sources aren't as clean as the one in the vid. Just wondering what your thoughts are on that?
Is it necessary to use the filter with the supplied blue hose as demonstrated in the video? If they're standard quick connect plugs on the pump, I'm assuming its the same for the filter head?
Hey mate good video, that starting section needs a little more work on the sound mixing. On the headphones it’s not too bad but any mid range speakers end up losing enough detail that it’s a bit of effort to distinguish your voice. Not a major thing but figured you’d want to know.
I want to get an inline fill pump like you showed. What is the name of yours? Or a link. Used my instant hot water heater for the first time. So nice for washing up and dishes!!! 😊
Hi Pat, regarding the extension 12v cable you made for the pump extension, does it matter what thickness the wire is? 2.5mm - 3mm - 6mm? I will need around a 10 meter length I think.
I kinda understand how you use it and how I need to use it, I just want to take a 5 gallon water bottle, like a big absopure bottle, and put a water hose to the tank. In other words just follow what I'm saying: just in case my hot water tank goes out in my home, so no more hot water obviously... but I still want to have hot water to wash dishes with and shower with. So can I just keep the unit and propane tank outside, but take a 25 or 50 foot garden hose and dip it into the 5 gallon bottle and get hot water?? Kind of confused 🤔, so summing it all up, I want the entire unit but I want to get hot water from a 5 gallon water bottle and that's it. Nothing else... can I do it?? 🤔...oh and just in case my water company cuts my water off because of non payment or emergency purposes, so that's why i want to use a 5 gallon water bottle instead of a pump.
So much quicker than a tin can and a fire.... just unload the crate of equipment. Run out 20m of hose and power cable. Hook up a pump and a tap and a gas bottle. Do your dishes. And then start the 20 minutes of packing it all up again.. Dont get me wrong it has its place but compact and quick it is not.
My dad bought a kings gas hot water and setup and use is literally the exact same from my experiences with it id say it preforms just as well as the one in this video only downside to the kings one is it doesn't come with all the features like this one with the adapters carry tub / sink etc its literally just got a shower head but you could quite easily make a sink and other attachments for what it is works quite well and id guess is alot cheaper then this brand for those on a budget just be aware quility control on kings is shit and you might have a very different experience with the product to my dad and myself ive had friends buy the same kings product as me and there's has died on the first use so the quility can bet really different from one product to the next 😂
Well. Let's face it. Let's say what's really going down. NO GIRL wants to bump uglies with a guy with a dirty taint and an unwashed bits. And by the same token no guy wants to be 700 km inland and still be reminded of a fishing village. Without washing neither will be getting the best performance out of their respective rigs.
Who can name the river we are camped next too?
Snowy river?
Ovens or Buckland ?
Turon river
well its not in westeren australia as you can not get that close to a river, and they are always dry :)

Looks like it could be a great addition to a Camper, Caravan or Trailer. I will keep them in mind for my trailer build when it finally gets done as Im planning to set up a shower system on that. As for using it just with my Pajero I feel it would take up way too much space.
Great work and Australian made
Love the vid can I ask where you got the three-way connection?I'd love to get one for my camper trailer just need the three-way connection so I can well. Cheers mate
I have this unit and have been using it for 2 years. Mine came with the internal connections loose and leaking but once i tightened everything up its been great.
Great product mate and affordable price as well
You should have gone with the Nomad plus kit it comes with a spa bath and a sauna.
i feel like the pump it self may be waterproof but the power inlet hole may not be lol id be carful leaving it out in the rain :) might blow the pump
You forgot to show how it fits in the 4WD
I’ll stick to my steel bucket and lithium shower head
It’s so compact it allows me to take more beer!
Good bit of kit hey.
Glamming indeed 😂😂👌
What's the weight of the 80 sitting at these days?
excellent video mate
Are you considering and In line filter on the hose when pumping water for usage or to fill up tanks or jerry cans? Some sources aren't as clean as the one in the vid. Just wondering what your thoughts are on that?
So…. Would it work with salt water at the beach that would be handy then just rinse dishes with fresh etc at the ebd
Is it necessary to use the filter with the supplied blue hose as demonstrated in the video? If they're standard quick connect plugs on the pump, I'm assuming its the same for the filter head?
Awesome video!
Hey mate good video, that starting section needs a little more work on the sound mixing. On the headphones it’s not too bad but any mid range speakers end up losing enough detail that it’s a bit of effort to distinguish your voice.
Not a major thing but figured you’d want to know.
Best review I have seen top marks
I want to get an inline fill pump like you showed. What is the name of yours? Or a link. Used my instant hot water heater for the first time. So nice for washing up and dishes!!! 😊
Hi Steve, this is the pump that came with the kit, you can buy it separately here: www.joolca.com.au/products/12v-pump?_pos=1&_sid=76dabd426&_ss=r
Im gonna get one. I saw enough of the video before your ultra white chest burned my retinas out. 😂 great vids mate.
Nice little toy you got there with the double D"s batteries
i'd drain those batteries FLAT
Definitely get a shower awning on the other side of your vehicle so it's not making the ground muddy in your 'living space'
Hi Pat, regarding the extension 12v cable you made for the pump extension, does it matter what thickness the wire is? 2.5mm - 3mm - 6mm? I will need around a 10 meter length I think.
Joolca is now selling a BIG capacity power bank, 24,000mAh, it runs the pump perfectly. USB-A, USB-C, 12v out for the pump.
Nice Video!!
As a kid we used to have a shower that got water straight from the river and heated it with the cars engine
To bulky and I don't like carrying LPG aswell. But very neat idea.
It looks OK for a large set up with unlimited water and space but for overlanding I much prefer the companion aquaheat
Aussie arvo = crackrrrrr 🤝🏽🤝🏽🤝🏽
Just be aware the Joolca has the new LPG connector with the external thread on the cylinder.
that would be great......... at a RV/ camping park. as for the bush, not so much.
I think a heat exchanger is better suited to your size of setup
You're going need a G.V.M upgrade for sure.
Haha. Watch his other videos where he shows he's already over GVM but he keeps adding more and more gear. Must be at least 3 - 400kg over by now.
Way over 😂
What brand and model is that wheel bag? Thanks
Any chance of getting a long term review of the head unit you installed over 1 year ago?
Still use it every day, great unit and I still highly recommend it! I'll make something on it soon!
Does the temperature fluctuate at all?
With a couple of kids, there’s no room for a big box, realestate is precious when the rear seat is taken.
Looks like I’m gonna need a bigger truck!
Sweet as. I was just wondering where this spot is?
Howqua! Near sheep yards flat
Seems way more trouble than it’s worth. Probably ok if camping in the same spot for a week
For $700 that’s not bad 🤙🏻
This is on the trending list? Would be way over 40k views by now!
Budgie smugglers mate.
