It is great that you have shows for the kids. It is nice that you are always thinking of the kids. My grand-daughter watches your kid shows with me. She just turned seven this month. We do little woodworking projects, drawing, and gardening together. LOL! It gets her away from her tablet, whew, I'm glad of that. Thanks for this show, she'll be watching with me tonight. Poplar, Aspen, and Butternut are my three favorite woods for the scroll saw. When I was a hornsmyth. I used Butternut every chance I could on the custom engraved powderhorns I made to sell at the blackpowder shoots back in the mid seventies and eighties. Do you use much Butternut? Take care!
That fantastic that you and your granddaughter watch the shows together Michael. A big "hello" from me to her. I hope she enjoys the show and the project. As for butternut, I've never worked with it. I'm not even sure if it is available in my region but I will have to look into it for sure. Thanks for tuning in to the show and good luck on your project.
Just started to make toys as I recently became a Grandfather. Glad I found your videos! You have great design ideas and bring those ideas to life in an easy to watch and learn format. Thank you!
Kenny, another neat project from your scrap bin. Your idea to cut all the parts and put them in a baggie was really good. The best thing is that those rotors just beg to get spun….wouldn’t be able to help myself..
This is definitely a fun build Paul and a great way to use up the scrap. Spinning the rotors is a little addictive. LOL. Thanks for tuning in to the show sir.
This is adorable, I love your passion for introducing our children into the shop. Woodworking/woodturning is a fairly new hobby for me, but as a single mother, I immediately saw the value in bringing my 15 y/o son into working with me. Together, we are attempting our first furniture build, a pair of maple/cherry Adirondack rocking chairs (jump in with both feet, they say, haha!). Learning together while teaching him shop safety and basic woodworking techniques will be invaluable in the future! Loving your channel, although I'm really struggling with the deja vu I experience everytime I see you and hear you talk, I'm sure we've crossed paths somewhere!
That's a great story and I love hearing that you are getting your son involved in the hobby. 15 is such an impressionable age and giving him something to be passionate about will definitely help him in the long run. Good for you for being an awesome mom. As for the deja vu and our paths crossing.....you never know. Stranger things have happened in the world. I hope you continue to enjoy the channel. Feel free to send pictures of your chairs when you are done. I'd love to see them. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week.
They're always young enough, you may just have to adjust the projects. I've recently dragged my 15 and 23 year old sons into the shop with me to build adirondack rocking chairs, and at 46, I'd be in heaven to stand by my Grandpa in his wood shop. Such amazing memories!
I think you'd be surprised at what your grandkids might enjoy Ken. Make them for them anyway and give them as a gift. If they don't like them, what have you lost? If they do like them, then you all gain. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
I know I’ve said this before, it is so awesome how much you think of the kids. I can’t wait for the day to get my little guy out there with me. BTW I have video of him tightening up bolts in the dust collector I just got, 2 1/2 years old and already turning wrenches with the biggest smile on his face.I have a feeling he is going to want to be involved. Thanks for the laugh at the end of the video hahaha really, your gonna denied me 😂 what an excellent show
Glad that I could give you a little laugh Randy. I hope you and your son have many long and memorable days in the shop. It's memories like that that will last a lifetime. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Great video Kenny, absolutely loved the helicopter taking off, then "What? You're gonna deny me?" and the helicopter comes back so you can wipe it off the screen. Lovely touch! I'm going to send you an email to get the plans, I don't currently have any drawing software that I'm up to speed with, getting ready made plans will let me get into the shop and use up some of those scraps I've been saving. Instant sawdust! Definitely a Christmas present coming out of this! Oh, and by the way, you'd better be careful as you exit the shop. There's a helicopter and tons of other stuff in sharp pieces down there!
LOL. Glad that you liked the show Barry. I do have fun producing this channel and there nothing wrong with a little humour to make things go along a little better. Good luck on your project and thanks for tuning in. It is very much appreciated.
@@josearenas6865 Please do. I can't say whether I've received it or not as I have sent out quite a few of these pdf files and don't remember who I sent them to. Looking forward to getting your email.
Hi Kenny. I'm somewhat new to a scroll saw and wonder if you've done any videos where you describe the differences in blades and what blades are best for whatever work or wood you're using. Thanks! I love the children's toys!!
I produced a show a while back on scroll saw blades and scroll saw blade selection. It is a longer video but there is a lot of information in it. Here's the link. th-cam.com/video/UG6S5tqx6bI/w-d-xo.html I hope it helps. Thanks for tuning in Ken and please feel free to ask any questions you might have along the way.
Nice upgrade... now kids can build a fleet of varying helicopters... Thanks for your ideas and your sharing. By the way where did you get the magnifier you use at your scroll saw? I am losing some of my vision and need the help on my saw as well. I'm 62 years old now.
Joel, If you have a Harbor Freight near you they have them, for myself I wear jewelrys magnifiers you can find those on Amazon, they are comfortable and adjustable with different lenses
Unfortunately Joel, the magnifier that I use is no longer available as it has been discontinued. If you are able to take advantage of Alan's suggestion, that would probably be your best best. Otherwise, I know that Lee Valley has a nice one as well. Not as large as the one on my scroll saw but a great magnifier. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in sir
I don't see any reason why not Stephen. You just want to make sure that the finish is completely dry before allowing a child to play with it. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Bonjour Ken, Superbe travail, j'adore. Je vais t'envoyer un mail pour obtenir les plans. Je pense qu'il est encore temps pour Noël. Merci de France pour le partage MICHEL31

I love the helicopters (this 1 and the other from a few weeks ago) they are both Whimsical and looks as an easy build, I was asked by a Boys and Girls club if I would be willing to teach 9 to 13yo boys and girls some woodworking, at first I was thinking NO after thinking it over I said yes, today's kids need to keep the woodworking hobby alive (enough of me waffling on) I needed kid friendly projects something that takes 2 - 2 1/2 hours the helicopter patterns are great for the boys and maybe the girls I still need something for the girls though, Ken you saved my life with these patterns LOL THANK YOU, as always great project, I am so grateful that I found your channel, by the way how do you teach kids specially girls 🤔😊
You teach children in the same way that you would teach an adult. They are just small people. The difference with children is that they can pick it up a lot faster than us old guys do so don't underestimate them. The most important thing to remember when teaching young folks woodworking, is that they don't have the skill set that we have. They wont produce a product that is as refined as ours would be but to them, they are creating a masterpiece so be encouraging, be supportive and above all, be patient. As for the projects, helicopters are just as cool for girls as they are for boys. It's all about the adventure and the voyage, not the destination. Good luck with your teaching venture. It sounds like a great time. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
