Kenny, kudos to your viewer that suggested the tractor. What a great little project. You know, now you have to also make a hay wagon…lol. Really came out nice.
I think they hay wagon would be the easier of the two designs Paul. I will definitely have to add it to the list of designs. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week.
Good luck with your project. I hope you enjoy the pattern. Any pattern that I offer on the show can be downloaded for free from my website. Just visit www.acutabovewoodworkings.com and click on the free patterns section. I hope this helps. Thank you for tuning in.
Reversing the tire cut is as easy and tilting your mitre fence to 45 degrees in the opposite direction Tom. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
When I was a kid, my dad worked at a factory that made tractors and bought me a toy tractor. That tractor spent many days of hard work in the sandbox. In later years it was retired and now sits on my desk. As such, I believe myself to be an expert on toy tractors and qualified to say that your tractor is an excellent toy! In particular, the rear wheels are great. I'm sure your granddaughter will love it.
In the late !950's, I believe I was the only kid in our village that peddled down the street on a Red 1940's style tractor. All the rich kids had peddle cars. My tractor was a second hand gift. It had rubber spark plugs on each side of the motor. I loved my tractor. Thanks for bring back some fond memories! Your tractor project was awesome! A simple pattern that was very realistic! Your idea was perfect! Another great heirloom toy. You making the pattern makes it worth even more. It is not boring to look at! Enjoyed. Take care!
Glad that you liked the project Michael. What we wouldn't give to have that pedal tractor now. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words on the show.
I was so happy when I saw you had designed another toy. The tractor is awesome and I completely agree with your decision to model it after older tractors. If you’re so inclined, I’d love to see you design some accessories for the tractor in a future show. Thanks Kenny. Another great show.
Very charming tractor. Open engine and the silhouette are great. The smooth hood is simple yet appealing and wood selections finish is the real accomplishment here in my humble opinion.
I hope you do. It's all about taking the projects or patterns that I present on the show and making them your own. Good luck with your project and your modifications. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Absolutely love this tractor build and pattern ! Yes, I like the older style tractors too. I was raised on a farm in Iowa in the 50's through the 70's. Dad had the Farmall brand tractors that this could be a replica of. Also, thank you for passing on the plastic washer idea. It wasn't mine originally, but it deserves to be passed on. Lastly, you are so correct that there are tons of things that you can add to "upgrade" the tractor, but what a wonderful place to start ! Keep up the fantastic work !
I'm glad that you liked this toy design Floyd. Thank you so much for tuning in to the show and for taking the time to leave all the kind words. I truly appreciate it.
Hello Floyd! How is it going? I stumbled upon your comment and I knew I had to reply because I love older tractors too. You might want to check out DMIdea TH-cam channel, he has 2 scroll saw projects of tractors, one of them is I believe a 1920's tractor exactly like the ones you saw in Iowa. I hope you like it!
I finally beginning to see that the layering of pieces is what makes the detailing so much easier. Different details for each side would be just as easily accomplished. And the layering could be any number and also varying thicknesses as well. You are brilliant.
I don't know that I would call myself "brilliant" Dwight. I just see things a little differently than other folks see them, that's all. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words on the show.
The video definitely made this look way more doable. That looks amazing and those back tires are perfect. I saw the fine details for the engine and I thought this is over my head, now I’m kicking myself for not realizing it is three piece glued together. Rookie lol
Wonderful project. Thank you. Your toy projects offer more than an item that will make a child or grandchild happy; they offer methods and techniques that allow each of us novice workers imagination stimulation to come up with our own ideas and modifications. Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving.
Great video and a wonderful design. I completed one today and found a way to make cutting the large tires a bit easier. If you mark just a tick mark on the edge of the tire, you do lose a way to align the wheel after cutting 6 segments. However, instead of making just a tick mark, I used a combo square and a white pencil (since I was using dark walnut) and I extended the "tick mark" all the way across the tire surface so that even when some of it is gone due to the cut, enough remains in front of the kerf that lining it up on the center mark is still an easy doable process.
Great idea on the line extensions. Glad to hear that you were able to make a successful tractor toy. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your suggestion.
This is such a great build and design! I think I'm going to take your plans and try to transfer them into SVG files so I can make this tractor on my CNC machine. Keep it up!
Nice pattern. I can’t wait to try it. I made two of your dozers recently they came out awesome, but my wife is getting upset I’m not getting any house work done. I keep getting distracted with your projects.😂
A router table would work also Dana. If you don't have that tool, you could always use a hand saw to cut the outer edges of each tread and then clean out the middle with a chisel. It would be time consuming but doable. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.
All of the plans that I offer on the channel are available on my website for free download. Just visit acutabovewoodworkings.com and click on the free patterns section. I hope this helps. Thank you for tuning in to the show.
Cute. I might make few of those for some kids. I made a John Deere in January, but that's way to fancy for kids to play. LOL. It took me about 100 hours if remember correct. Not sure if I sent you pictures from that build. Thanks for sharing Ken
Can't remember if you sent along those photos or not Marcelo but I'd love to see them. I'm pretty sure you know where to send them. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Just visit my website at acutabovewoodworkings.com and click on the "free patterns" section. There, you will find the patterns, a picture of the finished project and the accompanying tutorial video for each project. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
Just found you. I have a grandson now and would like to make some of your toys. Very well done. Does the book of patterns have a recommended age group for the toys? Just want to be careful.
I don't have a book Thomas but every pattern that I offer on the show is available to download for free from my website. Just visit acutabovewoodworkings.com and click on the free patterns section. I made all these toys for my granddaughter and at the time, she was quite young at around 2 years old. She is 4 now and still plays with them. That being said, no shop made toy should be given to a child to play with, without adult supervision. Parts are too easy to come off. If you are wondering what parts will count as a choking hazard, you may want to check out my show on that exact subject. You can find it here. th-cam.com/video/m6DhKG58AJI/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Very nice work, and awesome video, thank you for posting. FYI....There is no longer a link to free patterns on your website, not sure if you are aware. I was hoping to get a copy of the tractor PDF, how do I get it please.
On the main page of my website in the top right corner is a banner entitled Free Patterns. Just click that and all of the patterns are there. Visit acutabovewoodworkings.com I hope this helps. If you still have problems, let me know and I will email it to you. Thanks for tuning in.
Sorry to disagree, but the back tires ruin it. It would have taken little more time to make two half thickness disks with opposing treads and you would have something that actually looks like a tractor tire. Other than that, it looks great.
These toys and projects are meant to be modified to whatever suits your needs and if better looking tires or more detailed tires is what suits your project, then by all means, make those tires. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your suggestion.
You are talented and greatly appreciated it...I now have three grand buddies that will love this!
Well I hope they do enjoy it. Thanks for tuning in and good luck on your project.

I like this. The toy designs you come up with are simple to build, but more than just an outline cut and you have a block toy.
Glad that you like the toy designs Scott. They are just as much fun to design as they are to make. Thanks for tuning in.

How would you make the rear wheel tread if like me you didn’t have a table saw? I love this toy and I’m sure my granddaughter would too?
A router table would work also Dana. If you don't have that tool, you could always use a hand saw to cut the outer edges of each tread and then clean out the middle with a chisel. It would be time consuming but doable. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.
