@@formattedorcthis also allows you to do a cheap costume to cosplay as other characters from other games. People have gone to Furcons and Comicons as the Spy with a mask as a furry or a DMC character or something.
so you know, this game doesn't have skins so much as cosmetics. You get to mix and match up to three cosmetic items on each class. Some items can be used by mutliple classes, while most are restricted to a single class. Also, there's paint to change the color of cosmetics too, furthering customization. But the thing most people desire are unusuals. That soldier with the purple energy coming from his head? That's an unusual effect, and can randomly show up on a hat when it's unboxed.
Also want to note He talks about taking down the enemy medic a lot in these videos because medic is the only true support in tf2. The only other way for people to heal each other without medic is the occasional sandwich from heavy. Or the dispenser, an immobile destroyable engineer building that heals slowly snd has a setup time to build. But can heal every one nearby it at once.
Rather than skins, we just refer to the cosmetics as... well... cosmetics, usually just calling them hats even if they aren't a hat exactly. TF2 is ridiculous when it comes to customization: You have 3 Cosmetic slots you can use, and every cosmetic in the game is divided into different types: Hats, Headwear, Miscs, Body cosmetics, Pants, so on and so forth, you can wear any combo you want... but it gets crazier, as almost every cosmetic in the game can be painted one of 29 different colors, not counting the default coloring that each cosmetic already starts with. The Glowing effect you see in this video on that soldier hat was known as an Unusual. Unusual hats are basically extremely rare versions of a normal hat, that has a cool particle effect or just a cool effect in general around, on, or above the head of the user. Unusuals are really hard to get, and depending on the type of unusual and the type of hat, can sell for a lot of real life money. i believe somewhat recently, someone sold an exceptionally rare unusual for 30K real life money through paypal. TF2 has its own player-run economy which uses the ingame items of Metal and Keys as pretty much currency, but some people make real life money off of them by selling cosmetics and such that they don't want on the Steam Marketplace. The last cool thing worth mentioning about Cosmetics, is pretty much all of them with the exception of a very, very small handful, are cosmetics created BY the community, then submitted to the workshop, and if valve likes them, they get added in updates and then people can buy/uncrate them. I believe the creators of the hats get a small % of the money made from the hats being sold, and they also get given a unique version of the cosmetic whenever it gets added with a unique unusual effect known as Community Sparkle, and a unique description saying "I made this!" these unique versions of the hat are also called Self-made "Insert hat-name here" as well.
Great reaction. As well as finishing the series, I highly recommend Emesis Blu (which others have suggested) and also the "Mann's Guide" videos by Soundsmith, which alongside their extras, are fantastic, insane deep-dives into a handful of particular, and playstyle-changing, weapons.
fun fact; the baby face blaster can boost your speed up to the point where you could almost outrun a charging demoknight if you're far enough as scout, people will call you a "speed addict" if you use this lol, only downside that it has 4 shots per clip and slows you down to 400 map units until you deal 90-100 dmg (full boost)
Retired scout main here (I play pyro now) LazyPurple is absolutely right, and I once got 72 points in a single round while stoked up on an energy drink, and it's all because I played it smart and took my encounters as 1v1s, and chose my fights. It does kind of suck when the Heavy has a gun called the natasha that can slow down whoever they shoot, completely messing up classes that depend on their movement to play good, but other than that I'd also like to mention that tf2 does not use "skins" but instead the game uses 3 slots where you can select and wear 3 cosmetics from your own inventory. This allows you to mix and match all the cosmetics you get, allowing for endless creativity in a game with so many outfits.
I woulfd like to mention that TF2 is a heavily mobility focused game which makes classes like soldier, scout, demo (and medic) the best classes in the game.
this "editing" its called SFM Animation. A free software made by valve. 3D Animation bro. That "Skin" is called Cosmetics, those effects are Unusual effects, its very expensive tho, don't buy it or open a crate to chance of 0.3%
