The FIRST pour I tell new acrylic pour artists to master is the stright pour, but the SECOND one is the *tree ring acrylic pour technique*. There are so many different variations you can do and it is almost impossible to get it wrong

6'8" Holy tallness! 🙂
Lol, yep. Just a bit.
Above, and beyond….AWESOME!
Wow, thank you Barbara.
I do the kiddie pool to pour in as well. Love the videos!
I've heard people use those to great effect. Glad to have confirmation.
I give you credit for introducing me to the world of paint pouring. Thanks
Your a terrific teacher.
Thanks so much Walter.
I'm a newbie, but what I found is great to use and don't take a lot of room for spinning small Canvas is Christmas wreath storage containers. And it has a lid so it can be closed to let dry when your done.
Great idea. I can see how that short wide container would work great.
Hi David, love theTree Ring Pour and the colours you chose. The three different pours the Tradional Pour, the Travelling Pour and the Figure 8 pour make up an interesting pour painting indeed. I am dying to give this one a go.
Let me know how it goes Roslyn
Love my puppy pool, I line mine with a cheap cheap tablecloth, keeps my pool clean, just toss away tablecloth when its gets yucky. Loved the combo pours, looks cool.
That's a great idea Sheila!
Loved the painting. It looks 3D.
Thank you so much 😀
I always look forward to Saturday mornings with you, David. You always give me an excuse to skip housekeeping!
Ooh, I wish that worked for me Grace.
😆😆😆@@LeftBrainedArtist
Great demo and one wild painting!
Many thanks Christine.
It is so nice to see another video, thanks so much
More to come for sure Leah.
Hi David! Great to see you on your knees! xx 🎉
Hey hey! 😂 The man upstairs needs his due.
@@LeftBrainedArtist absolutely agree! Blessings to you & yours! xx
Hi David, I did the first tree ring pour painting on a 10 inch x 10 inch canvas with the four different colours and the three different tree ring pour painting techniques and spun it on a cake decorator spinner. After looking at this tree ring pour I do like it. We have had poor internet connection at the moment!!!!!!
👍👍
You should be proud! I just opened google to look up something and your video paws on the main page for mine🎉
Well… it was a screenshot of my google page and this video
Oh man, that is awesome. Thanks for letting me know.
Tks a million for this wonderful video which really truly was so helpful to me today. At long last I successfully did 2 pouring art today. I am overwhelm with the results. I never thought in my wildest is dreams that I would have made it. I am so proud of myself tks to you and your good teaching. I was measuring up PM and paint to the tee. Today I just did it like a pro (don't laugh 😂 😂 ) 1:2 and I did it. I keep admiring my art. Which of course I am never happy with my achievements. Million tks 🥰
Wonderful! Feels so good doesn't it Joelle?
@@LeftBrainedArtist 🥰
Love this! Thank you 😁
Thanks for all the lovely comments Carrie.
Ok, I’ve just discovered your channel, I love the way you teach. Keep it up❤️
I liked how you did all the different pours on to one canvas to show how they are done! Really nice job!!!
Thank you so much! it think it is best to see them together as much as possible so you can make a decision on how to do it.
David this is crazy awesome !!! I love the way the colors are different tones ; bright, pastel-ish and pale with the different pours within pours. I have missed seeing you and your videos. You help me understand why things happen the way they do. Thank you. I hope you have been having a great summer.
Thank you very much! Kids are going back to school and vacation are over so I should be able to get back to a once a week schedule again.
Hi David, I completed the tree ring pour with the three different pours and four colours. Overall I am happy with the results although I could have added less of the blue. I used the cake decorator spinner and the colours that mixed and spun worked out to be an amazing tree ring pour.
Sounds amazing Roslyn
So easy but the results are amazing.Thanks.
Exactly why this is an awesome technique to start with.
Beautiful pour! I love the explanation!
Thank you so much Deborah.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Hi David, I did a second tree ring pour painting with less blue like you said the first colour you put in the cup is the one that comes out on top. This second one was more of an abstract pour painting with finer detail and on a round canvas. I will do another tree ring pour on a round canvas tomorrow. It is interesting how each pour painting is different. Thank you.
So true. Same colors and technique and everything can look so much different.
So glad to see this. Need that spinner pool. Awesome. My dining room walls will appreciate these items! Yay.
Haha. 😂. My walls and floor too.
Great 3d effect
I love how the bit of white does that.
This is so beautiful!😍
Thank you Rebecca!! 😊
🎉Absolutely fabulous
Thanks so much Meenakshi.
Love this so much i instantly ordered a cake decorating turntable from Amazon Prime, arriving tomorrow.. can't wait to have a go.. thank for sharing. ♥️
Hope you enjoy it!
I love your new pool. I have the same one but it’s a 6 ft round. It’s great to spin any size canvas.
Oh wow. That is huge!
@@LeftBrainedArtist yes it is but it’s great for much bigger canvases. 😀
I got so excited when I just saw a glimpse of "ooohh..." on my notufications!
Awe, you're the best.
What a great pour! I love the use of the 3 techniques in one! Beautiful results with the spin.
Thank you so much Ruth.
@@LeftBrainedArtist David you inspire me to explore art. I can’t thank you enough for helping me on my journey.
Love how this came out. Such a cool design & great colors.
Glad you like it Marion.
Hey David! I found a 31" collapsible puppy pool at Aldi on clearance today for under $7!
I'm so glad I watched your video yesterday. I would have passed it up cuz I don't have a puppy! So cool how that works!
Awesome to hear Katy. That is a great find!
@@LeftBrainedArtist I may have to go back and pick the rest up at that store bore back up!! 🤪 cuz, more is better, right? More paint, more canvases, more puppy pools! Or am I the only one who thinks this way? 🤣
That was mega interesting! thanks for taking the time to do this video David
My pleasure!
Great result David. I've done ring pours but never an infinity pour. I really liked that result so I'm going to try that next. Thanks a lot.
Thanks 👍 let me know how it goes.
Always enjoy your videos! I’m being a bit like you today actually lol… I’m working on some resin projects … so I am testing out different products together… see what I like best. I ordered the items you mentioned today (and more from LOLIVEFE! 💜
I also want to say THANK YOU for the difference you make to myself & so many others. I’m so grateful for you & your channel. I’m getting ready to start up my own channel (soon 🤞)… you have been one of the ones I have learned the most from… THANK YOU ❤
Definitely how I like to work. Test first and get better results later.
Cool! I love that pour.. Can't go wrong with primary colors.
I agree! I've had a couple low quality noes turn to a brown mess but normally you get some great color variation.
I really like that traveling tree ring pour, or maybe it's just cuz' looks great in your colors...
I gotta' get a spinner! 1st 1 I bought is more of a "lazy susan" -- turns but no spin! I dunno how to tell difference, since not by seller's write-up. Big diff between 'rotating' & 'spinning'!
Yeah, these cake spinners work the best for the price. I need to put a link to it in this video.
That would be a big help, am sure. So, cake spinners are what I need to get next time... Thanks!
Love this thank you. I've only been pouring for just over a week and loving all you tutorials so thank you. Need to get a cake spinner now and a different funnel - can't wait to experiment!
Wonderful! Excited to see what you make.
I haven’t started with acrylic pour yet because I am still learning the essentials. I’ve been watching your videos where you give excellent tips and teach wonderfully! This pool is great. I wouldn’t try the spinning technique exactly because of the spilling of the paint everywhere!
In one of your beginners video, where you mentioned the amount of paint for the base according to the size of the canvas, you mentioned a formula, as you did this time as well. However, can you please share, when using the metric system, what the formula is?
Thank you in advance!
Looking forward to watching more of your videos and learning from you!
I have a calculator for that and a blog post explanation here Helena - leftbrainedartist.com/how-much-paint-to-use-for-an-acrylic-pour/#more-13 and leftbrainedartist.com/acrylic-pour-paint-calculator/
@@LeftBrainedArtistyou did an incredible job by providing us such precious information. It is very generous of you!Thank you so much!
So beautiful, I can’t wait to try this tomorrow 💐 Thanks and all the best from Denmark 🇩🇰
Hope you enjoy it!
I like that. I will give it a try. 😊
You should Norma. let me know how it goes.
@@LeftBrainedArtistI think it turned out pretty for the first time. If I can figure out how to send a pic I will.😊
Great information. I love the design of this. So cool.
Thanks so much!
Hi David, I tried another tree ring pour with less blue as the first colour in the layer is the first to come out. This time on a round canvas on the cake decorator spinner and the result was a lot finer tree ring pour.
Wonderful! Sounds like it worked out more like you were expecting?
I love lolivefe, but I’ve been using a puppy pool, ordered from Amazon for 2 years now. They come in a variety of sizes.
That sounds like it works great too.
So enjoy your videos & stick to mostly straight or ring pours.
Have the cake spinner but just today was thinking how could (make paint splatter) barrier but can’t find that 31” blue pool thing would work perfect & save my hands! Ty!!
Glad to help my friend. I have really liked it so far.
Hmmm....... Just four inches taller than my son. As soon as we can clear the garage from all the boxes used for packing when we moved, we will have a level place to do some painting of various kinds. The garage has a more level floor than the rest of the house. The idea of using a small sitting pool can help with keeping the paint contained in a small area. We plan on using old blankets on the stone floor so we don't get paint on that. We don't own, just renting.
Sounds like a great plan. Keep in mind paint seeps through blankets so have plastic underneath that.
I'll keep that in mind for when we can get started.@@LeftBrainedArtist
I have been painting for about a year now and I absolutely love it. your videos have helped me tremendously! You explain a lot without being long winded! But I have a question...how do you keep the canvas from moving off the spinner? I only used my spinner once and the canvas was spun off the spinner (what a mess)!
1) Don't spin so fast - I have a problem with patience so I spin too hard.
2) put something like a silicone matt underneath as it will hold the painting better.
3) use double sided tape on the bottom of the wood for canvas or the middle of the canvas board. You need to pick up the whole spinner to tilt though if you do this.
4) some people add cross bars and a "stop" on those bars. That is a much more involved solution.
Hello David! Thankyou for all your video’s I am learning a lot from your channel! Being a newbie I tried pouring on top of a clear plate, my plate was clean and I wiped it down with alcohol to remove any oils. It is very pretty but the paint cracked, my question is can I pour on top with another pour as is and will it cover the cracks? I made sure my paint was trace 1. I appreciate if you have the time to answer my question if so I thankyou in advance. Have a blessed day 😊
It won't cover the cracks. You'll still see them. You can use painters puddy and then sand it or manually put paint in them an let them dry till they are mostly filled then pour over the painting. That will keep a lot of the texture from showing through.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Thankyou for your timely response, I will manually fill in the cracks ,fingers crossed lol. Thanks again David!
For those of you looking for this Spinner guard, or pool as I called it, from Lolivefe here is the link - lolivefe.com/products/spinner-guard?_pos=1&_sid=7cb84787b&_ss=r Use code *LBA10* to get 10% off your order.
Love your site! It's very informative. Since you used a glue mix, how did you get cells? I use Elmers's glue-all and have never gotten cells with the 70/30 formula.
Glue-all does not make cells. That is what I use, or liquitex pouring medium, when I don't want cells. Craftsmart glue however is quite cell reactive.
So, the formula for the amount of paint is the square inches divided by 25 but if you're using a base coat is that included in the number of ounces of paint?
Yes, the base coat is included. I usually use between 40 and 60% for a base then the rest for the pour.
Looks pretty awesome. What kind of white are using? C I titanium?
In this case I used Soho cause I had it on hand and I ran out of the CI. I forgot to mention that in the video.
Just what I needed to know!! how to mix PM and paint correctly. I am doing something wrong whilst mixing paint and PM and some colors are not compatible with the PM. I am so disappointed as I just tried my hand for the first time and added silicone oil and no cells. 😔🙄
Glad I could help! Let me know if you have more questions!
I'm sorry.... 6ft 8"?!? Clearly you got my share of legs! I'm 5ft 3" (practically a Hobbit!) 😂 😂 Do you get different weather up there? 😂
This looked really cool. I suppose it can be risky to do all the different techniques on one small-ish canvas - more chance of mud. Yours ended up really funky though 😊
If my paint was thinner it would have been more muddy. The medium/thick keeps that from happening pretty well.
This morning when I came to see my 2 paintings the black, red and white which I painted over and was looking so much better (but no cells) i saw cracks lines and feeling so bad and disappointed. In Switzerland no Floetrol but Owetrol. Im waiting for the blue version and hopefully that it will be better and i can still jump for joy. but one thing that i dont understand...I put 3 drops of silicone oil in my 3 colours and didn't get a single cell appearing despite the fact that i torched my paint. What am i doing wrong, I dont know..🤔🙄😔 could you please advice me. Tks a lot. Sorry to trouble you 😔
That is hard to tell without seeing a picture. Could be too thick or too thin. Can you send me a picture to the email at leftbrainedartist.com/contact ?
david, pease tell me b4 i spend the $70. cdn on penetrol....does it produce the same lacing as the aussie floetrol? apparently it helps make a ton of cells, but what about lacing....exact lacing?
No. Not exact lacing. Different and if you are worried about the price not enough to matter.
Afternoon David, I’ve noticed that on some videos they put a base coat and some they don’t , can you please tell me , is it different pour technique if so do I need to know what ones please. Thank You.
Just depends on how you want your painting to open up. I did a video on that here - th-cam.com/video/02TZ3L1T_DE/w-d-xo.html
@@LeftBrainedArtist thank you David, just downloading the video
Hi David I love watching your tutorials, I hope your doing well, I finally got my very first 1000 subs👍😁❣️🇨🇦👩🎨
Nice work Sandra. Did you already have the 4000 watch hours? That was my problem initially.
No not close to the watch time needed , its very much a work in progress for sure👍 it just feels nice to hit that 1000 finally😃
@@SandrasSensations One of these will pop off and get you there. Some of my highest view videos didn't start getting views till after 180 days. One was 300 days.
Can you tell me what your using to spin your art? I don’t hear that ball bearing sound and it’s very smooth. Thanks Will the beginner!
This is a metal cake spinner. Metal Cake Turntable - amzn.to/3cuLZcS (affiliate)
Where do I get the pour pool and the circle piece?
Lolivefe. I have the links in the description and a discount code if you want to use them.
Dumb question.......what keeps the canvas from flying off the spinner ?
The silicone mat is semi sticky. If I did spin really hard it would fly off. Some people have stops and braces to keep the bigger canvases from moving.
I stopped using plastic cups because I couldn't crimp the cup as you do in this video
Yeah, most of them just break and you have leakage.
@LeftBrainedArtist exactly. Last night, I had to tape up the plastic cup because it was my last one. Thankfully it worked
6'8"??????
Yup. I am the tallest of 8 in my family. The shortest boy is 6'2"
Cells are unfortunate...
They aren't for everyone that is for sure. Just use thicker paint and don't use floetrol or cheaper glue as those tend to make cells more often than not.
