Finasteride still has nearly the same effect at half the dosage, yet it helps lower the side effects altogether for many. So maybe a %65-%70 DHT blocking at half the dosage over time, instead of the full %70-%75.
Four months is not long enough for saw palmetto in the second study to show a benefit. Also topical saw palmetto may not have have a systemic effect on DHT, but may have a local effect at blocking and reducing DHT at the scalp level. Even with finasteride people say you need to wait a minimum of 6 to 12 months to see results, so waiting for months is just not adequate.
I don’t understand the mechanism behind catch up hair loss after quitting finasteride. Like why is it that after say 10 years of finasteride, you suddenly lose the hair you would have lost over those 10 years within a year or 2
The only thing that makes sense is that it actually aggravates hair loss when you stop, sort of like a rebound or withdrawal effect. But the companies that fund studies for their products of course won’t admit it for obvious reasons. I’ve watched two of my cousins just use minoxidil for a while, and then as soon as they stopped using it they went pretty much bald up almost immediately. Much faster rate than they were losing hair before
This is wrong, minoxidil don't stop hair loss, it only helps create new hair using minoxidil, if you stop using, the new hairs will fall out@@faudio5566
@@faudio5566This is wrong, when you stop using finasteride, your DHT levels will be sky rocket into your age balding pattern, so it's fault of DHT and not finasteride, don't ever stop using finasteride
@@faudio5566 A big thing to keep in mind with lots of finasteride users also is aging, if someone starts finasteride at lets say 25 their hair follicles are still quite strong, the body itself is more resistant towards basically all diseases. When that patient stops using fin at 35 while maintaining, the hair follicles will have naturally aged, and the entire system is generally not as effective in fighting against any disease, including mpb. My friend, what happened to you now? I want to use saw palmetto. Did you advise me to do so? What do you use now for your hair? What is the best thing for hereditary baldness?
Saw another Dr video that... for Saw Palmetto to be the slightest bit effective on the hair you would basically have to take soooooo much of it that it would make you sick. Basically overdoes in the stuff.
Definitely aged my face. Within 3 weeks of starting minoxidil I was googling about face treatments, serums, supplements and all. And only 6 months later I found out that minoxidil can cause this. All that time I was thinking what the f is happening to my face, didn't think mino could do that. PS. I don't think it is something like stop minoxidil and face will bounce back to what it was. I did get my youthful skin back but it took plenty of treatment like microneedling and supplements and such
I like how you yourself test shit. I wish their was more doctors like this.
Thank you for breaking the studies down.
yeah but keep in mind most guys dont do full dose of fin and have great results which might make saw palmetto abetter choice.

I was so scared using 1mg a week. and then I realised it has no negative effect on me and now I pop it every day 1mg
even 0.5 or 0.25mg of finasteride lowers systemic DHT up to 70%, saw palmetto probably only lowers it 10-20% even at high doses

I would be interested in a video like this too. I think my skin looks worse on minoxidil.
Yep dried my face up and cause dark circles definitely looked 10 years older until I stopped it
