    Hello Doctor. You’re producing great shows. Just two weeks ago I had my FUE procedure. My question to you is, can I start using mix of oils such as rosemary, peppermint with a carrier oil to stimulate the scalp for better hair growth. On both donor and receiving areas.
    Some surgeons suggests wait for at least 2-3 months and some suggest you can start after two weeks.
    Can you please advise on this?
    Other quick question is, how long should I wait to start using minoxidil foam after the surgery.
    Thanks!

    I would definitely recommend trying Finasteride before taking saw palmetto. I wish I could take finasteride, but sides were too much. However, saw palmetto so far has stabilized my hair loss and surprisingly I did not get any sides (don't have any explanation). I have been using saw palmetto for 8 months. If you are planning to try one, please this is very important: use STANDARDIZED saw palmetto (160 mg x 2 per day), which were used in study. Wish you all best of luck.

    • @Snipercontest

      what do you mean STANDARDIZED ? do you have any brand recommendation? and after how many months you saw results?

    • @Justin-vg4kw
      @Justin-vg4kw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@Snipercontest Standardized (85%+ fatty acids) can be available in various brands (see ingredient details) depends on your country. It indicates that there is high amount of extraction compare to regular ones. The ones you see in market with 500 mg+ are likely not standardized (and you have to take lots of them to get any benefit). I have not seen any significant gains. It stabilized my hairloss which in itself is good result for me. I used to shed significantly in shower, pillow and other places. After taking this for few months, I do not see much hairloss anywhere. Again, I wish I could take finasteride (lowering dose did not help), but this is still better than nothing. Response may vary from person to person.

    Saw Palmetto & Stinging Nettle are already a remedy to help with Prostate issues. The fact it blocks DHT is just a bonus.
    Safety issues as with everything - You need to Cycle. Never follow any drug or supplement dosage, either take half, or take for 3 days and stop for 2 days, keep cycling dosages for 2-3 months, than take a resting period of at least a month, and resume.

      You would have to do some research to see if saw palmetto is metabolized by the same liver enzymes as finasteride is such that the competing medications would make finasteride levels go up or down in the blood. Even so, it would likely add little value as compared to adding a growth stimulant to your finasteride regimen such as minoxidil, stemoxydine, laser cap etc. Taking multiple medications that work through almost the exact same mechanism will have little benefit as diversifying your attack against hair loss.

    • @dualscreengrant

      I asked my doctor about this, and he said it's OK to use finasteride and saw palmetto. He doesn't seem confident that saw palmetto is an effective hair loss treatment because it hasn't been studied to the same extent as finasteride. But it will not be harmful if you take saw palmetto in addition to finasteride.

    I took it for about 7 months and it had good results, but not very significant. It slowed hair loss, but definitely did not stop it. I think maybe I should have continued it for about a year. However, I did have a loss of libido. Quite surprisingly, the quality of the sperm increased as well. After I left it I had some pain in my pectoris major muscle and I'm not sure why. Unfortunately, we do not have any studies on it and I would say that 320 mg/daily after a while becomes too much. Maybe people can take 320 mg daily for 6 months and then switch to 160 daily and increase accordingly if they don't see their desired effects. Maybe 160/2x day sort of spreads its possible efficacy better and safer, we just do not know. I'm taking Finasteride (0.25 mg daily) and I wonder if I can add 160 mg of saw palmetto to it, since I know it worked on me, so maybe I can increase the efficacy of blocking DHT without the nasty sides. I think it's worth a shot for people to try it and maybe combine it with Finasteride as well. The worst that can happen is that there won't be any contribution of Saw Palmetto.
