  • The websites I used:
    Mechboards: mechboards.co.uk/
    MyKeyboard: mykeyboard.eu/
    Also very good:
    KBDfans: kbdfans.com/
    NovelKeys_: novelkeys.com/
    The parts I used:
    Case: mechboards.co....
    PCB: mechboards.co....
    Plate: mechboards.co....
    Stabilisers: mechboards.co....
    Switches: Cherry MX Browns
    Keycaps: mykeyboard.eu/...
    1. Buy your parts from different websites.
    2. Watch out for shipping and customs costs!
    3. Buy keycaps you want instantly if they are in stock.
    4. Switching to a smaller-sized keyboard is no problem.
    I hope you enjoyed the video! :)

    Great video Florian! I've made a video on the same subject. Intresting how we had some of the same thoughts on the ISO hardware availability. You were brave to go strait in on lube and soldering!

      I will watch your video on that later today! I have a new video about that topic coming up in a few days. I have learned some things in the past 3 month about custom mechanical keyboards and want to share what I have learned. I try to upload the video tomorrow. But thanks for your feedback

    The board looks amazing.
    I wish i could use a 60 or 65%. But i can't get rid of my function row, i use that too much.
    But getting a nordic 75% is hard xD

      You can try using an ANSI keyboard with your specific keys! I will make a video about that, after my next one. Should be out in max 2 weeks! Maybe earlier :D

    Iso vs ansi? I like the aesthetic of big enter, though it is 2 keys away from home row instead of 1

    Sehr schönes und gutes Video! Werde auch demnächst meine erste Tofu 60 bauen, bin aber noch nicht ganz fertig mit der Entscheidung von Switches und Plate. Hatte auch erst mit der Acrylic Version überlegt, dann aber die weiße Variante gewählt, da sie in meinen Augen cleaner ist und besser zu meinem Setup passt. Da du mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit auch auf Whnkeys Dc bist, könnten wir uns ja mal austauschen und du mir ein paar Tipps geben, würde ich sehr feiern! Vg und dir noch einen schönen Montag ^^

    Awesome video. Can u build a 65% custom keyboard with iso-de layout and under this 150$ ?

    • @floriangladis
      @floriangladis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would be quite hard to do so. The hardest part would probably be to find the keycaps. I would always calculate around 300$ for a custom. I will create a video in the near future about what I know now vs. back when I made this video.

    • @floriangladis
      @floriangladis  ปีที่แล้ว

      All in all, with tax and shipping, I think it was around 370€ +/- 10€
      But you can buy one even cheaper today, you have to be smart about where you buy your stuff with tax and shipping. I was not smart about that. I spend 100€ just on shipping and tax. Just buy local :/

      Thank you! :) I have created this video, it is more or less about ISO keyboards th-cam.com/video/aA_ZSamnHJ0/w-d-xo.html
      Best way for 75% ISO is a group buy where ISO is available or a tofu from KBDFans with solder PCB. But if you want I can make a quick and dirty video about that topic. But for that I need a week, lot of stuff to do :/

    hey there! im going to build a keyboard for my first time (60%), can you recommend a pcb and case for me? ive already found my switches and keycaps i want and my budget is £150 (so far my switches and keycaps are around £70 altogether).

    • @floriangladis
      @floriangladis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's tuff! Maybe take a look at what mechboards.co.uk has to offer at the moment. They are UK-based so cheap shipping for you I guess? Most cases, PCB and not to forget the plate cost more than 150£. This could work for you:
      60% Plastic Case - 20£
      60% Universal ALU Plate - 20£
      HS60 Hotswap PCB V3 - 65£
      I would go for hotswap but solder is cheaper. I hope I could help :)
