    What an absolute joy it is listening to someone like Aron who knows what he’s talking about, and how different it is from listening to the religious who think they know what they are talking about but don’t.

      Could be life after death, even before it! But no god involved. All would be natural and possible. Mythology, humankind can do without. Humankind...be happy. Believe in yourselves. Not super magical claptrap. Just be and learn from the sciences.

      Stephan Williams Could be, should be, would be...but it still be BS.
      It's fantasy and an appeal to ignorance...classic appeal to ignorance.
      Dawkins said there could be giant teapot in the sky, and it's still up to those claiming it to prove it, not simply appeal to ignorance.

    • @stephanwilliams8082

    • @Stikibits
      @Stikibits 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephan Williams Yep, delusions of life before and after death is what you have.
      Making some claim doesn't make it possible nor probable and certainly doesn't fit with any know facts.
      There are these little things called the Laws of Nature, and they can't be suspended to accommodate some appeal to ignorance, not even your own, of course.

      +wolfumz More than that it is IDIOTIC to argue that way. He was very likely not at the marriage of his parents, yet believes they WERE married (or maybe they are still alive, don't know, don't really care). He can't remember his own birth yet will fully believe all claims made about it... mother, probably father, time, place and if any were told to him other circumstances of it, e.g. how they got to the hospital or how long it took until the first ass slap of his life.
      He was neither there when Jesus died nor when Moses came down from Mount Sinai yet he instantly believes the book report about it. He wasn't there when a council decided what belongs in his bible and what not, he wasn't there when the oral traditions were first put into writing or when the english bishops sat down to make the King James Version translation yet he accepts all of that as true and base of his life and beliefs.
      And he especially was not there when allegedly the global flood created the Grand Canyon as he is so fond of rattling down in a long ago learned by heart explanation for his stance, yet he tells ad nauseam about it, so where's the difference? HE takes so much at face value despite not having been there. But i SCIENCE does it, he claims it's not proof because they were not there? Look, a hypocrite!

    I defiantly fall under the 'I need to understand' camp....or 'try to understand' ,at least. Since, technically, I don't 'need' to understand. However, my mind simply will not allow for accepting anything on 'faith'. My fear of death plays a big part of this, and I can intellectually admit this. Some people can't cope with the thought of not existing...thus...believing.

      Christianity certainly attacks back.
      Aron Ra has dozens of videos addressing the Koran. The Book of Mormon is premised on several claims in the Bible, such as the Tower of Babel and the Resurrection of Christ, so it doesn't need to be singled out for special attack. Scientology isn't trying to teach creationism in public schools and is irrelevant in the larger picture.

    It would take centuries to see the Dawn of the Universe?? Bumer, that means that even with a chronodrome we wouldn't be able to cover that, huh!?... u-n-l-e-s-s... we just used another chronodrome covering the actions of the original one!!! Lol. That way we could check it within a few minutes ;-)
    Lol, well, on a more serious note, though... AronRa was correct about the dangers of overpopulation. And we *are* dangerously approaching a break point. But things could be even darker than we think, and the answer not as simple as "make less babies". Sure, we could try that. But we seem doomed to fall prey to our *own* technological sophistication [especially in the field of Medicine]. Because our elders can now live longer and longer (without getting any younger, though), and if we contrast that with a world with less and less babies, the ratio takes on a nightmarish scenario. Each working/productive adult will have to create enough richness to support 6 or 7 old retired people. It's impossible. So what should we do? Kill our elderly instead of making less babies? In a world without moral boundaries perhaps, but *not* in the world we've come to create. So what to do? I don't know... and i suspect no one really does.

  • @cerberaodollam

      Matt Jones I'm confused and disappointed that I have to explain that no animals want to die, ergo, fear death. Did you know when farmers put down an animal they try to surprise it because the stress created from fear will make the meat different? You ever step on a crowd of ants? Every predatory non-human animal tries for the element of surprise because the prey will try to evade it. So what in the flying fuck makes you think that any animal doesn't fear death?

    • @killax1000
      @killax1000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt Jones the same reason a naturalist does and in the exact same fashion. What evidence do you have to imply any animal doesn't know the reason it does anything? Did you know why your heart beat or your lungs breathe when you were born? I'm assuming you're saying non humans behave entirely on subconscious impulse mechanisms similar to that. Kind of like they're just witnessing their life happen. Or do you not think they're anything more than biochemical machines? I've got an idea that agrees and disagrees with you. Where we disagree is you drawing the line at humans. Do you now agree that non-human animals do fear death?

    • @killax1000
      @killax1000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Matt Jones I bet if someone watched me look at myself in the mirror half the time they might think the same thing. So now you're saying non-humans don't know what their body is because it seems like they don't realize they are seeing their own reflection in a mirror. therefore they can't fear their death because they don't even know what they are or are we dropping that point? I don't see a difference in you concluding animals have no thought and people narrating their young children as if they can read their mind or describing the emotions of their pets. I'm sure vegans and PETA would disagree with you. But I'm probably not going to make you think any different about your firsthand witness to those viral animals in mirror videos.

    • @killax1000
      @killax1000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matt Jones Because being able to comprehend what a mirror is and it's mechanics is in no way related to knowing about dying...

    • @psycotria
      @psycotria 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +killax1000 "... being able to comprehend what a mirror is ..." Most animals can't understand a mirror, but I have seen one or two cats of mine that were able to figure it out, but only if I were with them in the mirror.
      Cats have no concept of death. While burying victims of accident or disease, they show a passing interest in the deceased and the process of digging it's grave, after which they have waited patiently for me to be done with the task and free to attend to them.
      As for fearing death, the 'fight or flight' instinct in no way indicates a fear of the possible future state of death. Even humans still exhibit this instinctual mechanism, which is automatic. No consideration of consequences is needed to invoke it.
      To fear death, one must understand what it is. One must have a comprehension of the future and an ability to think with abstraction. Most animal lack these abilities.

    4 By reification of Altruism Abel offered to reified Altruism a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, reified Altruism commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his reification of Sacrifice, though he died, he still speaks.
    5 By reification of Life Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because reified Life had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased reified Life.
    6 And without reification of Morality it is impossible to please reified Morality, for whoever would draw near to reified Morality must believe that reified Morality exists and that reified Morality rewards those who seek reified Morality."

      @Oners82 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      differous01 Because you are taking the quotes completely out of context. These ideas are not being treated as physical objects, they are being referred to as what they are, concepts.
      As an analogy, if I say to a kid, "Get a good education because if you grow up to be stupid you won't get a good job", according to you I am reifying both "education" and "stupid", which is clearly nonsense.
      An actual reification fallacy would be to say something like, "Love exists therefore who created love." That is a fallacy because love is an abstract concept and hence is not something that is created.
      But none of your quotes commits this fallacy.
      For example 3. is just acknowledging an attribute of god, not a physical object, 4. refers to how we should help others, again altruism is not being portrayed as a physical object.
      I could go on but you get the point.

    • @differous01
      @differous01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oners82 "3. is just acknowledging an attribute of god, not a physical object,"
      Well, I am glad you acknowledge that god is not a real thing, but there are those who do believe that it is.
      For them, to make creativity an attribute of God IS to reify creativity.
      But creativity is a characteristic of Man, and we create God, not the other way around.

    • @Oners82
      @Oners82 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      differous01 I didn't say that god isn't a real thing, again you are taking things out of context. My point was that CREATIVITY is not being reified, it is being treated as an aspect of god's character.
      "For them, to make creativity an attribute of God IS to reify creativity."
      That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If you are merely saying that a property is an aspect of an agent's character, whether it be creativity, love or anything else then by definition you are NOT reifying it. You are acknowledging it for what it really is, a personal trait.
      I mean just think about what you're saying. If it was genuinely an attempt at reification in that verse then it would be saying that god created creativity, which is a self contradictory proposition. Not even theists are that stupid.
      I agree with your last point.

      Explain how death could possibly come from either, without violence being perpetrated by a believer?

      +Russell K. Bonney "There are a host of books which are prolly unknown, outside your limited circle of knowledge" There are 130,000,000 books in the world. Which illustrates YOUR limited circle of knowledge.
      The Quran demonstrates the many miracles which were performed by Mahummad.
      The Rig Veda also demonstrates many miracles.
      Of course you will only believe what you declare to be of your god, it exists only via Faith [faith: strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof]

    What an absolute joy it is listening to someone like Aron who knows what he’s talking about, and how different it is from listening to the religious who think they know what they are talking about but don’t.
