    Excellent review!! Thank you, you answered exactly what I needed. This was the best I have ever seen, and thankyou. I am ordering the Torin 7. 😃

    Finally found someone comparing regular and wide version of this shoes. Thank you.
    How about the sizing? Is it true size or should take up/ down size?

    This is my first road running shoe and I freaking love it. I'm a big fan of the Altra Lone Peak as well

      I love the Lone Peak 8, it fits my foot perfectly. Would you say the standard foot shape is similar or did you go for the wide version of the Torrin 7?

    Very good video. It really helped me decide whether to get Torin 7 or cheaper 5/6. I used Escalante for recovery run after miles on Vibram shoes. I thought would be good to try Torin for my next long distance run. Would you recommend this for an old slow runner (70 this year)?

    Just the video I needed. I didnt know if to buy the regular or wide. Think the wide might be too wide. Also what size Salomon vest did you wear for the just survive race? I Got the small but thinking of getting a medium.

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you talking about the sizing or capacity? I went by the size chart and got the large and I think I could have gotten away with a medium. I sometimes cinch the chest straps almost all the way down when I'm low on water, but otherwise it's fine and doesn't bounce.
      As for capacity, I found the 5L to be more than enough, but the temperature did get too cold so I didn't need to carry extra layers. Even with colder temps I think the 5L may be fine for packing a jacket as I really tried to pack light and it ended up working out well for me.

    I prefer Rivera 3 over Torin 7. They are more minimal, and have just perfect amount of space for not to wide "normal" feet. Toe box in Rivera 3 is taller than in Rivera 2, or Torin 6, and sizing is same as one Nike, Adidas, and Hokas. I run 5-15 km almost every day at easy paces, so I don't know how would they be for longer distances.
    Altra Escalante 3 are also fantastic shoes that made me to try all Altras, because they solved my problems with knees that I had with other brands.
    Comfort on ease paces with accent on form of running over speed in Altras is unmached (for me).

      I've love to try the Rivera cos I love the cushioning and zero drop in altra shoes but my feet are not wide at all. Unfortunately they don't stock them in my country for some strange reason

    Hi, as a person who runs long distances how much space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe do you typically look for? Looking to get a pair of torin and to up my distances and concerned about getting the right fit, especially length wise 😎

    Wish you discussed sizing for a bit. Do you have your Torin 7 in the same size as your Mont Blanc BOA?

  • @travistodd3216
    @travistodd3216 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Completely agree about the increased stack! How is the flexibility of the Torin 7? I worry about feeling like I have blocks on my feet.

    • @maripetluk
      @maripetluk ปีที่แล้ว

      They are not to bulky, but try Rivera 3, because they are just enough in my opinion

    • @travistodd3216
      @travistodd3216 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maripetluk I tried on the Riv 3 but really didn't like the heel counter. I tried on Esc 3 and it felt great. How do you feel about Escalante 3?

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Torin 7 feels very stiff, moreso than previous models. I really want to pick up a pair of the Escalante 3s to compare, and I'll update when I do, but all the other escalates I've owned have a good amount of flex. The Rivera's have a nice flexibility to them as well.

    Thank you for the review!!
    How do you find the length? In the Torin 5's I had to go up a size. Did they address that in the 7's?

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find the size to be just right for my foot, I usually wear 10.5 in everything and that's true with the 4.5 through 7's. So based on that you may need to go up in size for the 7's if you found the 5 short.

    At the time I could not wait for the Torin 7 to come out, so bought the Rivera 3. Those are such a disappointment I am affraid to buy other high stack Altras. They lack comfort most for me... id rather wear the escalante racers for any type of training.
    Love my escalante racers, love my Tempos (2nd pair in use now) and dig my carbons for events.

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you not like about the Rivera 3? I have a pair of the 2's and I'm actually really enjoying running in them lately and was thinking of picking up the 3's, but now I'm hesitating.

  • @ProCookin

    i will go escalante, i dont want the stackheight and more narrow toebox

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good choice. I also suggest looking into Xero Prio. I've been wearing them in Europe the past two weeks and I love them. The only caveat is that there's no cushion AT ALL, but they are extremely comfortable and I've been on my feet all day for multiple days in a row.

    How would you compare the Lone Peaks with any version of the Torins? Are they not comparable or interchangeable? I love Lone Peak 6, but would rather buy multiple Torin 5s at $60!

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely different! I LOVE the Lone Peaks, but they are rough on asphalt. For trails the Lone Peaks are amazing, and they are my main shoe in my line-up besides the Torins, but you can't really compare the two. However, for very light and non technical trails the Torins do just fine, but I'm talking mainly dirt and gravel.

    How would you compare the torin vs the Escalante for an every day type shoe?

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I prefer the Escalantes as an everyday shoe because the lower stack height and less weight. I actually wore my old worn down pair as a work shoe for like 2 years. I like more minimalistic shoes for daily use and if I could wear my Earth runners at work I would lol.

    Would this be a good shoe for a healthcare worker?

    • @FeetFirstAthletics
      @FeetFirstAthletics  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd probably go toward the Escalante as an everyday shoe because it has less stack height. Stack height is great for running but not so much an everyday shoe, at least in my opinion. I suggest for you checking out the Xero Prio. I just got that shoe and it's an amazing everyday wear
