#ACValhalla #Review #Valhalla
I enjoyed Valhalla alot, for me personally, it’s the type of game you can just shut your brain off, and just go on an adventure, i liked the characters and music most of all, great review.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
It’s awesome. I’m a sucker for beautiful game worlds that have an incredible soundtrack. That’s how Skyrim hooked me and that’s how Valhalla hooked me.
I don’t get why it’s so heated I love the game just the brute force and brutality it’s just so fun
Agreed. Even in AC Odessey, their musical score is superb.
@@AlmightyAxe5it's only hated by the ac community because you didn't play as an assassin in valhalla
I bought the game a few months back and finally started playing it a week ago. And i absolutely love it, my only regret is not playing it sooner.
Are you still finding any enjoyment out of it? It’s available with assassins creed mirage right now for only $32 and I’m considering getting that bundle because I’ve never played an assassins creed game
@stephendorn6348 Haven't played it in a while, but if I went back to play it all over again I think I'd still enjoy playing it. The story is great imo and there really is alot to do on there. 🤙
be thankful - the game is perfect now
This review was so well thought out. You articulated a lot of my thoughts in this, and opened my eyes to a few other notes as a non-English person. I really appreciate the perspective on the local history and timelines. I really enjoyed this game personally, as you said it’s easy to get into when you have downtime. What you said about the super condensed map and odd placement of some of the locations definitely applies to some of the other regions in this game....but I really appreciated the representation of other cultures and languages in the different regions.
Also to add, I have about 180 hours in the game and let’s just say....there’s one region close to my heart, that felt very shallow and has loads of potential. I hope they expand this region with some DLC to flesh it out and bring it more to life.
Thank you, Maple. Always nice to get comments like these. I understand, of course, why they have to scale these things way down, but it would be nice if they put things in the right places.
I pre-ordered this and had it day 1 I sank 40ish hours into it pretty quickly then came to a dead stop playing it cause I was getting bored. Picked it up again 2 weeks ago and I'm having better time now, I'm focusing more on the story and basically just doing side quests, etc as I go from place to place doing the story
Glad you're enjoying it again. Thanks for watching.
Just curious but what were you doing in the game for 40ish hours if it's only just now you've decided to focus on the story and side quests? Were you just clearing out bandit camps?
@@dazzaboy04 I was doing some story missions but I also was doing the asgard stuff, raids, too much time doing mysteries and collecting treasure around each area I went too
I did the exact same thing. Just picked it back up last weekend and can’t stop.
I am just confused of what is the main quest line. Now i need te get to lvl 4 base. Got to do these river quest to find that gear still only found 1/2 of it. Then i got a quest to do 10 contracts. It just feels i dont know wich quests are main story. I love the game tho
This was a really good review. Let me go through all your reviews. I hope you do more such reviews.
Thank you very much. I do make these reviews every now and again. The reason there aren't more of them is because of the time it takes to make these in-depth reviews.
Thanks for watching.
I love watching reviews of people who played the games for over 100 of hours compared to people who rush the game.
Thank you very much. Wherever it says "Ultimate Review" on my channel, that is a game I have played to death before reviewing it.
Agreed. I play on average 250 hours with open world games. Some worlds are so massive and filled we detail I can’t help but appreciate the effort, thought and ingenuity that was used to make the player feel completely immersed in the world.
For example whilst rdr2 was a truly immersive game, I was not a fan of the backdrop but you have to respect what has gone into these games. As a gamer I feel obliged to do everything I could aswell as really be in awe at what these guys have accomplished.
For me, skyrim is king of them all. It’s beautiful, from the character customization to the quests to the story to the sheer immersiveness. Skyrim is pure genius.
@@bunglebonks7399 Skyrim is a fantastic game, but a mediocre Elder Scrolls entry and an often bad RPG. Oblivion is the shining light of that series... Skyrim without mods is not nearly as replayable, interesting, role-playable, immersive or customizable as Oblivion and is of course littered with bugs. I didn't find myself doing multiple 100+ hour plays of Skyrim like I did with Oblivion and there's definitely legitimate reasons for that. One day we'll get Elder Scrolls 6 but with Todd Howard at the helm I don't have loads of faith in it as an RPG, it'll likely be just as dumbed down as Fallout 4 was compared to 3 and New Vegas.
@@bunglebonks7399 Valhalla is filled with nothing though except barred doors
@@davso91
I am currently playing watchdogs legion. I love it. Especially on the series X (the most powerful console on earth). It’s stunning. On my 65inch Sony A9.
Everything pops at you. It’s beautiful and immersive… there are even AC references. Valhalla will be next.
Sorry u didn’t enjoy it.
was looking for a decent review and the one that got me was this... and the ultimate review with 200 hours title. first time hearing about you and I'm glad I did. I watched the whole thing beginning to finish. I normally go for straight to the point reviews but there is something about this one that stood out. whether it was the humor, the knowledge base or even your pleasing voice lol....regardless the review was great. like some of the comments here, I may or may not pick up Valhalla right now but maybe in the future. origins and odyssey for me were pretty good ever since I left the series after black flag. but now I'm starting to get burnt out by these games again like from before. only reason why I left was it was like any other games like COD or WWE2k. just couldn't handle trying to play the almost the same game every year. like you mentioned the formula has changed over time and is a lot different than what it used to be. hopefully the next entry will go back to its roots, or maybe we'll actually get a full on eastern/asian period. chronicles doesn't count for me imo heh.
Thank you very much.
I've been making "Ultimate Reviews" since 2018, when I decided to make a video which would convince people not to give up early on Kingdom Come: Deliverance, because I HATED it at first, and grew to love it. The title was to reflect the difference between these reviews and the kind you normally see, which have had between 10-30 hours put into them on average. It blew up, so I made more, but they take so long to make there are only 7 so far. lol
I used to be a huge fan of the AC series, but it's gotten lost along the way somewhere, and they don't hold my attention the way they used to.
Thanks for watching, and for the in-depth comment.
Yet another high quality review with the level of thought, honesty, and humour I have come to love from you. Thank you for preserving, well worth the wait 😁
Thank you Kitters. It was my pleasure. I mean... this one in particular, was a pain in the ass in places, but I'm always pleased with the result.
Beautifully done SK. I really enjoyed the cutscenes you put into this vid. Thank you for the time you put into this.
My pleasure, Moredread. This one was a bit more of a pain than previous reviews I've done, but I got there in the end, despite technical difficulties.
Thank you for watching and commenting, buddy. I appreciate it.
I've treated this one the same way I did Origins and Odyssey. I play for a few days, then I put it down. Then I pick it up again and play for a few more days. I find I have no problem coming back into the mechanics and story with these games after some time away. I spent maybe 18 months with Odyssey and because I enjoyed it in small chunks it never felt stale. Same thing, so far, with Valhalla.
Yeah... I probably would have enjoyed it more if I could have done that. Making reviews unfortunately means I have to just plug away until the job is thoroughly done... which I don't normally have a problem with, but this one became a bit of a chore.
Glad you're enjoying it.
Thanks for watching.
@@KnightsArcade I get it. HAVING to do something will take the joy out of just about anything.
@@JoeDillingham how is the combat compared with Odyssey? does it feel okey? i loved odyssey but valhalla feels clunky in videos, whats ur verdit guys ?
@@cechichan Similar, but a little slower, I think. Feels good enough. Kind of arcadey, but that's not a bad thing. Not some Soulsy sort of thing. A bit less reliance on special abilities than Odyssey. I like Valhalla's gear system way better than Odyssey's.

Had to check this out, since I had never heard of him... but at least the complaints about this game seem to be consistent across most reviews.
Thanks for watching.
@@KnightsArcade yes they definitely are 😁
That's too bad that parkour in AC isn't as good as it used to be. I was okay with it in Origins because there's a lot of desert, but it seems like all of the new games are losing it. I remember AC Unity had fantastic parkour.
It used to be so fluid... but it's become quite clunky over time.
It’s 60fps now, UNITY IS THE GOAT (besides AC4)
@@KnightsArcade you do realize it’s the exact same. What makes parkour seem less fluid or more sticky is the map design and climbable objects. Not on the actual system it uses. Blame the map developers not AC as a whole
@@tokenman12 it is very much on the system too, theres a major difference in the animations and how you enter, transition and exit during parkour, making the parkour feel more clunky
not saying map design doesnt affect it though
You just resume everything I feel about that game. I’m one of those persons who needs to check every point on the map but this game is killing me, you spend roughly 3 hours on each campaing but to do the side quests or “misteries” and get the not at all worthy collectibles plus the treasures is about the same time, it’s like Ubisoft hates people who like to complete games to a 100%.
Haha exactly, even though all the wealth, artifacts etc bored me endlessly i just couldnt leave areas uncompleted.
Yeah... I'm usually a bit of a completionist, but this got to be too much like work at the tend. I wasn't enjoying my self any more.
@@dutchguy1807 Welcome to the club 😅 I did Odyssey on 100% and had a lot of fun with it so I decided to do the same with Valhalla. Valhalla wasn't as fun as Odyssey after about 50-60 hours because those side activities got boring really quickly but I just couldn't stop at one point. If my goal from the start was to 100% it, then I was going to do it. When I did it, I had about a year of break from this game and when I jumped back in to play DLCs, I quickly remembered again how tiresome it was to complete each area 😆 I still completed everything in Ireland, France and Svartalfheim (or whatever it was called) but I was so tired and bored while doing it. I realised then that these games are too long for 100%ing them and I wouldn't do it if the next AC was like this. I replayed Origins and now I'm replaying Odyssey and this time I promised to try to focus on the main story and side quests instead of clearing the whole map of these question marks. It's extremely tempting to do it in Odyssey though because almost every place there is really interesting but I won't give up on my promise. I do sometimes check some "?" on the way to mission but it's hard to get rid of all habits hah
I've been a huge fan of AC since the beginning, love the story behind it all and the lore. However it saddens me that Valhalla is the first AC game I've not even considered buying and will probably wait a while until it's cheap enough that I'm not losing out on much money IF I don't like it as much. Personally, I'm not liking the fact that these newer AC games are showing less and less of the whole Assassins Creed, as you've pointed out in this review, and these could now just be generic RPG's with no back story. Just my opinion, I'm sure others will not agree.
Yeah, I've seen a few people disagree with me on this point, but most seem to agree that AC has gotten lost along the way. AC2, AC Brotherhood and AC Black Flag were my personal favourites in the series.
@@KnightsArcade what about unity
It's on sale rn on the playstation store for about 23 quid
I don’t really care about the AC lore at all tbh. I just like the historical stories they create.
The good thing they do that all good games should is have a sense of progression. The amount of games that don't get this right is baffling.
I still can't bring myself to beat Odyssey. It's the mind numbing side quests. I'm not even sure if i want to delve into this one. I want to but at the same time, i'd rather just not. Maybe Rockstar should just create their own Viking game like RDR2.
That would be amazing! Pity we'd have to wait 10 years to see it, but the difference between games that are given that much attention, and then Ubisoft games like this one, is noticeable.
Thanks for watching.
Not all are bad, and as to RDR2, bored. I never finished it thanks to boredom, terrible bigs and glitches and literally I got AssCreed Odd on sale and made the mistake of trying it out, 150hrs later, had Zero desire to deal with the blandness of RDR2.
Don’t get me wrong RDR2 was not all bad, but when entire cutscenes were destroyed by having 80% of the NPCs turn into invisible ghosts and having to restart the game and lose long stretches of progress thanks to the Train disappearing leaving me both on a Train and not on a train with no way to do anything accept close the game from the home screen.. yeah, no thanks.
by blandness I mean huge empty areas with the same random things happening over and over. After seeing a guy get killed trying to shoe his horse for the 12th time, you really see the cracks in this overrated game world.
Hell, I was even patient enough to give RDO a chance, but when your camp would disappear leaving you unable to complete missions, yeah fuck that shit.
ACO had it’s share of meh side quests and some annoying and funny bugs, but I never had a crash and never lost progress. Never had my horse commit suicide like the ones in RDR2 did about 200 times. Too each his own, I found RDR2 far too unstable and far too overrated and over hyped by people pretending it had no flaws and was the best game ever. Also, despite it’s open world, that game is linear as fuck. People used to cry about linear games. Now they pretend open world means non linear. AC:Viking boys is supposed to be insanely linear right guys and gals?
I wish there was a demo, I hear the combat is jank as hell and could overlook a lot of the bad if the combat is fun and entertaining but… yeah, even at $30 not going to risk it.
Rockstars games are garbage. I can't finish a single one of them thanks to the garbage controls and way they handle questing. If you can suspend disbelief to feel like you're in a game, I can see why you'd like Rockstar's stuff better, but I don't play games for immersion. I play games for good gameplay and sometimes for story with good plot action.
This is the only AC game where stealth does not matter when going into forts or bandit camps. Just walk right in and kill all of them. Although it saved alot of time but the fear of being killed isn’t there for me in this AC so I don’t have to hide and stealth kill. I play on normal difficulty as the game suggests playing on tougher will mean i will just have to grind even more which will get boring really quick. AC Odyssey and Origins were also played on normal difficulty yet the fear of death was always there no matter how strong i got and the use of clever stealth was always important. Now its just walk in kill all loot all rinse and repeat.
Kill all loot all sounds like the Viking way tbh
@@7mriwantlightning710 True and yet not once did i feel like a true Viking or an Assassin.
In Odyssey also Stealth doesn't matter, in fact Valhalla has more stealth than Odyssey.
I remember playing ac 3 and killing all soldiers grouped together and not taking a single hit, even better is that it was done effortlessly 😂
Depends. I found that assassinating was a good choice when walking into higher level regions
This is easily the best review I have ever seen. Congrats
Thank you very much. That is high praise indeed. Greatly appreciated.
A review worthy of "The Knights Arcade".
I especially appreciate your honest opinion. For me personally, your review is the best this game has produced😁
I do hope game creators will consider these reviews in an attempt to make a game that gets an review from you, equal to your KDC review, what made ppl play the game who never heared of it before, like me 😬
Good job buddy!👍🏻
Thank you very much, Baron. Your encouragement, as always, is very welcome. 😊
I felt the same way about the ACs world. Red dead 2 is another level like ghost of tsushima. Its the attention to detail.
The AC games always seem to miss the mark somewhere.
Im a fellow UK resident and have viking background and I was interested in this game for that but think I'll end up like you, can't wait for the game to end and I love 100% games.
Yeah... I enjoyed it at first, but it got old pretty quickly, whereas I was so desperate to spend more time in the early AC games (AC2, AC Brotherhood, and AC Black Flag, especially) that I 100% some of them. This one, I was very glad to get out of.
plz explain what a viking background is? very curious
Lmao viking background? How would you know
if i avoid side quests, will that help?
I haven’t played none of the newer assassins creeds other than origins…I still enjoy origins a lot.
WOOO!! I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Hope you liked it. Let me know what you thought.
The last 3 games have been phenomenal. The knew open world style is brilliant, and theyve done a great job bringing the worlds to life. Ive put 100-150 hrs in each of the 3, and what i find so special is you can complete them much quicker if you want, or take forever., as opposed to the much more linear structure of the older games.
The secret with these games is to play them the way you want, instead of what everyone else tells you is the "correct" way. Once you get in that mindset the experience is so much better in open world games.
That's fair enough. We all enjoy different things.
I like to do as many sidequests as possible in an open world game, and then wrap up the story.
The faint stench of hope...
We know it well, very well.
THANKS for doing these!
Great review.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.

For people who say this is less stealth than the old games. Try playing on the hardest difficulty.
I feel like hard is the way it is meant to be played but I liked playing very hard because the stealth as well is key 🔑. I totally agree.
Not everybody likes to play games on hard
@@gringobronx7670 not everyone needs to, for those who want more of a stealth element because they're tired of enemies being too easy to kill, they can play on very hard or hard, for those who want to brute force it, they can play on moderate/regular or easy.

Having played through every Assassins Creed game on pc, console and other devices, I'm very much looking forward to playing through this one... The damn price is a pain though. There was a time £40-60 would get you the entire game, all the bells and whistle's and extra bits and pieces.. though now they want £99+ ...Certainly one for a sale for me. It's currently 50% off with the Ultimate Edition at £50 + an additional 20% off for Black Friday.. taking it down to £40. Amazing review i really enjoyed it, glad you put in more than 20 hours like these mainstream sites do (if you check their trophies, they didnt even complete the game but gave it over 80/100). This definitely is not the AC thats going to rope me back into the series
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do sometimes make "regular" reviews, where I only have about 20 hours in a game, but whenever one of my reviews says "Ultimate Review", it means I have at least 100 hours, or (in the case of games that simply don't have that much in them) as much as the game will allow me to do... sometimes several playthroughs.
I don't think a lot of main stream game venues have the budget to properly review a game like this -- they don't have the budget to give reviewers the time to play it, and then there's time constraints to get the review out in a certain period. I don't think they should attempt to finish it or be pressured -- that brings even more of a bias as they can't enjoy the side content or flow of the game within the time they have to review -- or even really enjoy the main content with the time pressure. But they should be open about what their time constraints/played was.
It's something that us looking at the reviews need to keep in mind; don't see any practical way for that to change outside of introducing separate types of reviews like this channel.
the thing is if they are going to scale down a map they may as well get the whole uk look like give me Newcastle please

I recently returned to Valhalla to finish the DLCs, and I honestly still love the game. I'll probably play through it for a second time soon.
I would have taken a remake of Assassin's Creed 1 using this engine to be honest. AC1 remade with this tech, this time full of activities and an expanded story would be an instant hit.
Good idea. I agree.

In fact, pirates and vikings are similar in many ways but only Valhalla gets put down for not being an assassin. I guess Black Flag pulled it off better that’s why.
@@johnxiong6983 well, people hate the new engine. Black Flag made you feel like an Assassin because Edward played like an Assassin. I think im only really pointing out the fact that Edward isnt an assassin to help them argue because you still felt like one in Black Flag
11:23 To be fair as massively scaled down the map is, it’s still huge for an open world game.I mean how many modern open world RPGs are there with maps that sprawl well over 10,000 meters from one side to other?
Well, probably only newer Assassin’s Creed games.I’ve played Witcher,Fallout,Elder Scrolls,Horizon,Kingdom Come Deliverance etc. and none of them have maps in that scale.

I'm afraid I've been concentrating on my voiceover business, as the combination of Covid (lots of streamers deciding to become V/O artists, since they were stuck at home) followed by the rise of AI voices, has left voiceover artists in a very sorry state, and my business has gone form a full-time income to almost no income at all. So... I've been slowly trying to rebuild that, and if I can't... god only knows what I'm gonna do.
Once I get a bit more stability back, I will upload a video here, discussing my plans for my TH-cam future (which are extensive). Until then I'm afraid there won't be a lot here, but I appreciate your support.

Late to the party i bought the game last week with every dlc at $30, im already 30 hours into it and i really like it i get that some people dont like the repetition or the flow of combat but that personally doesnt bother me also i choose the pathfinder exploration difficulty and disable the compass so i can only see dots and the markers if i use the crow and the view points and that has made the exploration extremely fun i really like the world events and enjoy the story and side missions still got a lot to do but im just letting the game come to me and explore at my pace instead of just pushing my self to complete every task at once, i also had to say that i was extremely tired about the old AC the stealth aproach so im bias because of the rpg elements and the viking era
I’m going into this game not comparing it to assassins creed. I just wanna live the life of a Viking
I'm a huge fan of The Last Kingdom on Netflix and I'm so thrilled that I'm basically playing as Uhtred Ragnarsson.
It's the same as far cry 5, it was disappointing on release but years later you actually find out that it's actually a fun game
After AC: Odyssey I was really looking forward to this one, shame it was such a cash grab... and the history, I know its a video game but if your gonna do a historical game and are a large game developer employ some experts rather than just go for LARPy fantasy vikings
Imagine having to pass a game down generations because u couldn’t “ do everything in your life time as u wanted”
Great review 👍🏻
Thank you very much! 😊
This is my favorite ac game out of the three I've played by far. I don't think it deserves as much hate as it gets. It's not perfect but overall made me feel like a viking
That's fair enough. In the end we can only speak about our own personal feelings about a game. I try to bring up good points AND bad points, and let the viewer decide. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent review, other reviews are too short.
Well, I promise you will never get brevity from me. lol
Thank you very much for watching, and for commenting.
I just bought this game ...I still play Ghost recon breakpoint so this can't be half as bad.
😆
Man breakpoint was so disappointing. It had a couple amazing aspects to it. But overall just left out a lot of what I loved in wildlands. We just needed a sequel. And they tried to fix what wasn't broken.
@@colinhoeg4728 Couldn't say it better. We literally ALWAYS just need a sequel with all UBI games. We have needed a sequel for Edward, Bayek Arno, wildlands and Aiden pierce to this DAY !
@@Kimkong2 facts
@@colinhoeg4728 hey man, I loved Wildlands more than I thought I would when I played through a few years ago. I got Breakpoint a couple weeks back and couldn't get into it, ended up deleting it to make space, but can't quite put my finger on what made such a similar game feel so much worse for me... What exactly is it that's missing in Breakpoint as opposed to Wildlands? Maybe you can jog my memory and give me some peace of mind 😂
Having started with AC1, what I really am missing with these new games is the sense of being an assassin. This is not "Assassins Creed", it is "Warrior's Creed", and it just isn't the franchise I fell in love with.
I agree completely. I never really gelled with Altair, but I could see the potential. Then with Ezio it really, really came alive.
I miss that sort of AC game. Black Flag was the last one I really enjoyed, and even that was mostly because of the pirate/sailing aspect.
Thanks for watching.
I miss the focus on historical accuracy and on the stealth aspects as well as the overall assassin's order storyline of the earlier games
Agreed. I used to love the AC games in the early days. Nowadays they're barely recognisable.
Here is what I do not like with Valhalla.
The AI is sort of bad compared to Odyssey specifically the default stealth difficulty and combat.
The skill tree is a big mess with a lot of unnecessary complicated visuals and hard to follow links.
The HDR is a mess that is yet to be addressed.
The combat isn’t bad but it isn’t that good either I think odyssey had much more fun combat.
I appreciate the weight behind the character and movements but certain actions feel clunky.
The story just drags a bit too long.
During the last 20-15 hours of the game there is so many bugs that aren’t acceptable for a game of this budget.
And please for the love of Ubisoft give your characters better expressions and personalities
Yup. Just read through that, and it's hard to disagree with any of it. Well said.
Good that’s all I need to
Know I won’t buy it then
Excellent review, my friend
Cheers, buddy. Thank you for watching.
Your videos are the best Grumpy Englishman!
Thank you very much for that vote of confidence! 😂 I'm always happy to be the grumpy Englishman.
I was able to get a deal for base game, unfortunately I decided to pay extra for season pass, but after those, i enjoyed the game, both story and exploration, such as the mysteries icons scattered everywhere. The only bland parts of it is the continued usage of having to raid a fort/castle each time you set off to make alliances, but the dlcs made gameplay interesting again, and if the game IS deciding to push to a year 2 content, im quite excited to see what theyll make next.
Oh yeah... I certain that the DLC will add some decent content, and that many people will love it. But it's had enough of my money.
Glad you're enjoying it though.
I'm not English, but what you say applies to pretty much every culture from the past that grew up long enough. You will hardly find a single culture that has not already attacked its neighbors or was awfull with them, if they had a chance to get away with it.
That is certainly true, but it was more of a comment on how (from the trailer at least) we seemed to be the bad guys AGAIN. It's a fair point though.
Thanks for watching.
It is probably a great game, just like the other rpg like AC games. But I was generally a fan of the old combat and the smooth animations. Of course it was easy, but they could have kept a similar style and then moved on. The combat and animations in this game is not AC for me, but I guess I am to conservative.
I agree. It's gotten too far from the original AC games. I know things must evolve and move on, but they are slowly cutting out the things people loved about the series.
@@KnightsArcade Sorry but Origins was and still a new/old game compared to Vallaha and Odssey.
Plus that game should of never get so much hate for the new direction, Story, characters and combat.
No offense to anyone.
@@RRai2000 None taken. You are as entitled to an opinion as anyone else.
Will get it with some great discount (on PS), loved AC2 back then and Odyssey more recently. Played most of them somewhat with various platforms, AC2 and Odyssey being the only ones played to the end (and more). -playing games since 1981
Im getting to the end of my tenure with odyssey and im really wondering whether I should buy Valhalla or wait a bit because im worries about burnout.
What do you think?
I really loved Odyssey but I hated the soppy emotional story lines.
You must be around my age I’m 44 relaying rdr 2 best single player game easily playing it e second time around
I don’t want it to stop 😂
@@Lonewolf.wildcamping Yep, 45 here. First own gaming machine was Philips Videopac G7000 (Magnavox Odyssey 2 in US) in those early years. Then C64 -> Amiga 500 -> etc... And yes RDR2 so good game, one of the best of all time.
I started playing again with fresh playthrough it's better now that I know what to do and how to deal with Barred Door Life faster you also don't have that mega grind like Odyssey with an xp booster you're god mode within 30hrs, 200power is sorta the tipping point. The game is still kinda dull with a crappy gameplay loop and no build variety, just poking everything with a spear and skipping a lot of conversations to get that xp faster is what is recommended. Probably gonna be done with everything in 100hrs now way less than my 330 in Odyssey but Odyssey had that addictive cadence this one is more like notching chores off the to do list
Yes. Well put. I found the Asgård sections especially dull. That whole part of the game felt like a chore.
I 1000% agree for me the game started to become boring and repetitive as soon as I killed off the knights of the order the were by far the most challenging had the best combat AI and were very similar to the mercenaries in odessy however for some stupid reason unlike odessy these mercenaries/knights of the order never respawn its soo aggravating cause if they actually respawned this game world be so much better imagine how boring odessy would be if the mercenaries were all one offs and u couldn't start a battle sequence whenever u wanted and their was no jobs board where u can collect regenerating bounties and contracts, that's basically assassin's creed valhalla
It's such a shame Assassin's Creed has basically abandoned everything that made it unique when it first came out. It's clear Ubisoft is cashing in on The Witcher hype, albeit nowhere near the same depth or quality. Seems like every one of their IPs has become basically the same format of game, just set in different locations/times. And then you have Ghost of Tsushima which does everything AC has been doing lately but better.
Quite right. They seem content to make "thin" games and push one out every year or two. Lifeless offerings these days. I wish they'd slow it down and improve the quality and depth.
Thanks for watching.
@@KnightsArcade people are still buying them so they have no incentive to slow down
@@lobster272 True enough.
I'm still installing I'm at the part where I get on the boat
I'm currently playing this one and I really like it. Huge game, can see where it may feel watered down a bit, but overall I'm enjoying it.
Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Thanks for watching.
why do they keep insisting with animus lmao
um what, do you even know the ac lore?
yeah man animus is bullshit, i skip all the cutscenes and dialog just to get back t the real gameplay
I don’t like the animus either
It's on sale right now, should I buy it?
Reviewed with humour and panache of a modern day wordsmith. Great job.
Thank you very much for those kind words. And thanks for watching.
Random thought the lady at 5:14 on the right looks like Kassandra from AC Odessey
Hmmm... now you come to mention it, she does. I wonder if they just rehashed the character models.
@@KnightsArcade More then likely. I dont blame em

Absolutely Loved it... your video that is
Thank you very much. That's very kind of you.
as someone who is married to a scandinavian I am shocked you think English is the hardest language to learn! lol. It's actually meant to be the easiest of all the euro languages....Finnish, Greek and German topping the list.
Watch it again. I never said it was the hardest language to learn. I said it was a nightmare to learn and especially to pronounce, because of all the influences from different languages that make up modern day English.
And I don't say that because *I* think that. I say it because I used to work in Stockholm as a tour guide, and my colleagues were from Japan, France, Mexico, Italy, Germany, Sweden, and Denmark (to name a few), and they commonly told me they hated learning English because a lot of our pronunciations follow no rules.
But... as I've said before in these comments: If I had said it was easy, lots of people would have said "You would say that, because you're a native speaker!"... but whatever you say, people like to disagree.
I appreciate the comment, and I understand what you're saying, but that wasn't my own opinion, it was that of many of my friends from around the world.
@@KnightsArcade sorry! didnt mean to add to the toxic stress of social media comments :) i just interpreted it a bit differently but yes i agree, although english is grammatically more modular than other languages sometimes that mixed with the extra vocabulary and all the random little 'things' like how you multiple words sound the same but mean different things etc can be very tricky! but i think all languages have their own version of this but english is the most common language to learn so it gets the most attention. I was a linguist teacher in Asia and speak 4 languages so I always try and remind people that the silver lining with english is that there is only one way to say 'the' :D. thanks for the video btw :)
@@P_Jag My pleasure. And thank you for the comment. I am always happy to reply to polite, well thought-out comments like yours. It's the trolls that come before you, that take the toll (pardon the pun).

For the first 10 hours the combat can feel really clumsy at parts, and the first boss fight made me go back to Odyssey. But as I got lost into the open world everything felt progressively more satisfying especially looting and combat. Not to mention the magical soundtrack that makes me feel like a badass. I found myself performing stun finishers every chance I got parrying arrows and axes while dual whielding heavy weapons and setting every foe on fire.
0:00 loool - best intro ever and it's true 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 except the swiss
Wonderful review! These games are a mixed bag. I tried going back and playing the original Assassin's Creed a year or so ago and found it boring and repetitive. The Ezio Saga is some of the best in the series with my favorite being Brotherhood. While combat and worlds have gotten better. I find that I only spent 22 hours with 17% completion in Origins and 110 hours with 63% completion in Odyssey before getting bored or distracted by other games. I saw some amazing gameplay of Valhalla a few days ago and it's on sale now. Which is what lead me to this review. I've been wondering if I should by it now or wait for the next sale.
Thank you very much. It's always fun to make these reviews. I just wish it didn't take me so long.
I agree that the Ezio Saga was the high point in the AC series. I loved the character, and thoroughly enjoyed the Ezio games, particularly AC2, and Brotherhood.
Thanks for watching.
i like the most how Star Wars villains are mostly british, even vader even though he was voiced by an american. there is a hilarious vid of the costume actor David Prowse voicing lines when he thought he would be the voice and is so funny hearing vader as a well spoken brtish man without the breather filter
It would have been okay with a Brit like Patrick Stewart or Benedict Cumberbatch... I mean Ian McDiarmid (who played Palpatine)... the problem with Prowse, was that he has a strong Bristol/West Country accent... we call it a "Wurzel" accent... so to Brits (who remember him as the "Green Cross Code man) he sounds like a West Country farmer, behind a menacing mask... and it takes away all the fear. 😆
We have a lot of different accents in this country, and they vary wildly. My native accent is referred to a "Dee Dar", because I'm originally from Sheffield. What you need is a Brit with a deep RP voice.
I don’t think Ubisoft will ever be able to perfect an assassins creed game. If anything they’re going backwards.
Agreed.
@6:50 looks a lot like the skill tree from Path of Exile.
but more user friendly than PoE
Is this worth picking up at this point? They just released a DLC about Paris or something and I heard some good reviews about it. Thanks for the review!
My pleasure.
I haven't played any of the DLC, I'm afraid. I figured this game had taken enough of my time, so I can't comment. It sounds great, but whether or not it significantly changes the experience of Valhalla? I'm sorry to say, I have no idea.

Just bought this for £17 on the ps5. Hopefully it will be worth it. Haven’t played an AC in years.
Hope you enjoy it.
You know, I bought the gold edition for like $20 bucks and I think its amazing. I've had one bug in my 30-40 hours in and it was so small and insignificant that It wasn't even an issue. The main complaint is see is people say it's too long. You don't have to do every single little thing on the map. Just do the main quest-line. Too long would be Red Dead 2, which after playing exclusively the main story for 100 hours I still wasn't finished.
People keep misunderstanding the complaint of "This game is too long".
I love a really long in-depth game, and I love doing sidequests. I don't care if the game take 1000 hours to complete. The problem with AC: Valhalla, is that it's far too thin to be worth putting in that time. So most people are bored LONG before the end, if they also want to do sidequests. The world is thin, uninteresting, and repetitive. The characters are lifeless and dull. That why so many people (like Lachy Mckenzie, who commented less than 24 hours after you did, and many, many others) complained that the game was too long. Not because they hate long games, but because this is a 20 hour game, which put on about 100 hours of excess weight.
RDR2 is a gorgeous, lovingly-crafted, thriving, living, breathing world with a touching, heartfelt story, and characters who are believable and lifelike. Decent voice-acting and motion capture... superb story... incredibly immersive locations. That's why a game like that takes 9 years to make.
Assassin's Creed throw out games waaaaay too often, and the result (inevitably) is lifeless and thin.
@@KnightsArcade Interesting lol. I actually got bored of Red Dead way earlier than with Valhalla. I get what you're saying and that's fair, but I just don't get that from the game. Like Red Dead got old really fast for me, but Valhalla hasn't. Also, it's not always the time in development as it is resources and bodies working on it, not to mention Rockstar overworked their people to the max.
True but why put all that crap on the map in the first place if you can just ignore it, think of the developers who spend that time just bloating out the game for no reason as everyone says "well you dont have to do it" look at all the cut content in games because it didnt fit or make it a better experience. They need to learn to just cut that shit and stop worrying about their game needing to take 100 hours to complete
@Veggietroll It just felt like it drug on and on and on. Right when I thought I'd finally reached the end, nope, another 30 hours left. After it looses its novelty it just sorta feels repetitive to me. All that said, I adore From Software games so maybe it just wasn't my style.
its $24 on sale..time to buy?
That's... really up to you. I make these reviews so that you can watch them and make up your own mind. I guess the game is worth it at that price.
Don't buy it trust me
