- Assassin's Creed: Valhalla released last week on November 10th. 8 days and 60 hours later I finally finished the game and in this video I am going to give you my no-spoiler review on the game and breakdown the pros and cons and help you decide if you should buy it. Great review! One thing to note, you mentioned that you can’t really go all stealth due to the Raids. What I’ve been doing is just taking out the raid camps by myself in stealth, and then calling in a raid after most of the camp is dead for the sole purpose of opening the doors and chests. I’ve been doing pretty much 80% stealth the whole game, and it’s been awesome.
That’s a good idea I tried that a few times but I still wish there was more options for stealth in the raids on the main campaign rather than just constantly having battering Ram your way through gates and slaughtering waves and waves of enemies
@@masterassassin791 Yeah I hear ya, they should have worked stealth into the story more because it’s a lot more fun than I thought it’d be due to the pretty unique layouts of a lot of the enemy camps

There's a reason why double assassinations can't be there of course. It was Altair who developed the method of double assassination as written in the codex pages in AC2. I'm glad they remained faithful to the lore by not introducing double assassination.

I loved ac unity’s combat, it felt super realistic and was actually challenging at times.

Yeah. Because it felt real. Like actually realistic. You had to be a pro to kill 5 enemies that are fighting you at the same time

It was cool when it worked but it was inaccurate, it wouldnt target someone that would be a priority, such as someone pointing a gun at you. And sometimes it would just glitch you out. But when it worked correctly it was cool. I just finished Unity for the first time, my third asscreed game after 4 and Rogue, and I was blown away by the first few hours then it steadily grew more dull and its problems began to show. I liked how tactile it felt combat wise compared to 4/Rogue, but it didnt feel as “snappy,” if that makes sense. Also it pissed me off that some stealth options wouldnt work, like killing someone whos next to waist high cover youre hiding behind, or the double air assassination NEVER working. In Rogue i could sprint full speed wiling out guards two at a time. On the ground it works in unity, but the air drops never worked correctly and always ended up with me killing one guy and getting spotted by the other. And yes, i bought the upgrade. It never worked. I loved loved loved the parkour traversal and graphics, but i guess chsracter wise it was a small and lame story compared even to Rogue which is more of a side story than a main series entry i feel
Agree. That game had so much potential but the sheer size of the game just fucked it up so much and caused so many issues. On top of that, the story was kinda shit, especially compared to 1-Revelations
You can do raids in stealth btw bro. Sneak into the area, take out all the guards and 'call a raid' using the same wheel for calling your horse or putting up your hood and your raiders will come and loot.

Imagine a Assassins Creed game with a Assassin vs Templar story that has Ghost of Tsushima game mechanics and Unity parkour... that would just be perfect.
The soundtrack is amazing and Going to the Kingdom of wessex capital to hunt the order members and hearing the music give me mad Ac1 vibes

if you're playing on base ps4 with TV, reduce your tv sharpness to around 6 - 9. I don't know how it does it, but trust me the graphic looks so much better and smoother.
How is the performance on base PS4 after all the patches???
Sharpness settings just add black lines to edges. Turn it off

@@scorgi0 that's what I'm using, well. Using a computer monitor with base PS4, but the games looks like a PS2 game on my old 720 flat screen tv and looks absolutely fucking amazing on the computer monitor. I should've switched A LONG TIME AGO.

My favorite assassin‘s creed game is brotherhood and thanks for the review.
I have a tough time deciding between AC2 and Brotherhood for my favorite both are amazing and thank you for the comment man. I appreciate it!
The entire Desmond trilogy was my favorite+ blackflag. The rest are ok
The assasin's in this game has only one purpose to give you a hidden blade.

Combat gets way more fun dual wielding with special abilities for your second weapon and forces you to be more aggressive. I thought it was boring with a shield too but when I switched to dual axes I started having way more fun. Still not as cinematic as the older games but much better than playing it safe with the shield.
Well I actually got Excalibur at about 40 hours in and that refreshed the combat a little bit but again after a while it gets old.
@@masterassassin791 I can have fun with it at times but it definitely gets repetitive so I use stealth as much as possible. Funny how this combat is "more complex" than the original games but imo less fun because it lacks the cinematic flair and excitement of the older games.

They could literally remake ac1 or 2 and give us a crouch button and cover to cover system and we would all be very happy

looved the review, finally somone who focuses more on gameplay, and overall enjoyment, than just how big the world is. i also miss the old combat, but this game seems like a banger and im subscribing just for this amazing review.
I have over 130 hours now in Valhalla and I can only say that this is a game of the year for me. Periodt.
I don't understand the constant hate on Odyssey. Sure it's not your traditional assassin's creed game and I can see that argument. However, I personally enjoyed the greek world way more than I did Egypt. I will agree that Origins had a better overall story, but Odyssey had better combat, a better world, and I preferred Kassandra to Bayek. That's not even to mention how much better the customization and outfits are in odyssey. I have about 90 hours in Origins, and about 130 hours in Odyssey. Also, let's be honest here...both games have a crappy leveling system and both got pretty tideous by the middle of the game. That being said, both are great games and I wish Odyssey would stop getting so much hate.
I love Odyssey for what it is and it's actually great fun. The stealth is great, the combat feels agile and Greek . Overall the whole game screams Greek and I'm all for it. Haters gonna hate cause no hidden blade
Bro everybody hates on odyssey for no reason. Odyssey was such a great enjoyable game. I'd play odyssey 10 times over than origins any day.
odyssey is amazing endless things to do, people just love to complain about games with tons of base game content yet people also complain about games with no content so which is it lol

One thing people dont seem to be really talking about, in valhala most chests are hidden and involve some form of puzzles as to how to get to them. Unlike odyssey where 99 percent of them were so easy to spot
I don't quite get how the combat in AC: Origins and onward can be described as being more boring than what we had in previous AC titles.
When it came to combat it literally was just Counter-Button the game with flashy animations.
For future raids, just so you know you can do raids in stealth just when your boat arrives just don’t press the raid button and you can kill all the guards stealthily.

It’s rare to hear from someone who’s had the exact same feelings moving through the AC catalogue as I have. I really lost hope with Odyssey for so many reasons. Nice to see AC is back on track in a lot of ways.

I really liked the fight between Fulke, she was probably one of the most challenging opponents in the game in my opinion. I love how she used darkness to her advantage since she has memorized her hideout and used it to the element of surprise with hit and run tactics. I really like how this game is strictly combat based and as still creative without any type of magic involved like in odyssey or the witcher 3
I struggled with the wolf in Asgard so I’ll probably cry myself to sleep with that boss battle.

Wow man, first time I've ever commented on a review. You did a really great job. From the viewpoints to the video clips included. I really did enjoy it. I was thinking I was going to hear a lot of criticism but instead you picked the good and the bad about every topic. I've only came across 1 "having to restart the game" bug in 60 hours. I'm enjoying the game personally but it's not gonna be for everyone. If you're into the Viking culture it's definitely worth a buy. Wait until it goes on sale. I haven't regretted it yet. Thanks for shedding some updated light on this beautiful game the way you did though! A true fan will buy it no matter what though. Love the AC fam 💪🏻
One thing I realized, I preferred the first ac games of every engine used. I preferred AC 1 over the Ezio trilogy, AC 3 is my favorite in the Kenway Saga, Unity over Syndicate for the Initiate Duology, and Origins over Odyssey and Valhalla for the Layla Saga.

Except for AC3 (I love that game it's my favorite in the whole series) mine are the exact opposite. I like the Ezio games better than 1, Syndicate better than Unity, and Valhalla way better than the other two in the rpg trilogy.
There's a skill that allows you to oneshot assassinate any enemy, if you can hit a skillcheck. I think that's so much better than just guaranteed onehits with no repercussions. The extra stealth dmg upgrades just make them easier, so they're not completely useless.
the skill check is not engaging, also it hinders the animation itself, which is pretty shit. You would prefer that over the fluidity and stylishness of unity assassinations? there are already repercussions for stealth too, its more methodical, thats also why the reward is the one shot, why make it more methodical?
I loved Oddessy it really put me back into the series kinda sad they won’t have another game like it since everyone hates on it

Well just personally loved the lore I got and I’m not a huge Viking Morse guy, still played it but wasn’t it for me maybe the dlc with the gods will be different, I get it sold more and that’s great means the games getting more traction but guess I’m just weird Odyssey, Origins, Syndicate, and Unity some my favorites ig kinda and odd duckling for it but oh well hope y’all have a good night hopefully we can get a Dubai(something in Deseret but away from Egypt) or something idk would love a Chinese or such type one but I’ll wait 😂 or maybe they’ll do something completely different with new game

Edit: this video was really cool, with a very honest opinion.
The female version is just as canon as the male one, since in the present they don't have too much DNA data from him, making it a bit realistic and also not ruining the plot like in Kassandra's and Alexio's case.
I can't really rate it but like you I have big hopes for the game, especially in lore and map building areas since, that has always been the best parts that AC games offer, I love the story, and I love parkour.

Interesting you weren't into Origins or Odyssey. Most I come across say one or the other -- usually Odyssey -- is their fav or in top 3 AC's. I love Origins and I've about half way through Odyssey and also love it. Look forward to starting Valhalla after I'm done Odyssey

A little tip for not getting so repetitive with the combat is :change the weapons there are multiple and differents weapons on Valhalla and with dual wielding it multiplies by 2 so if you get bored consider experimenting with the weapons

Ashraf Ismail the creator of ac4, origins and ac Valhalla got fired not too long ago. No matter whether this game was good or shit, I’m quite worried about the ac franchise at this point. The main ac director got fired during brotherhood, ac franchise went down from there. Alex amancio responsible for unity is also gone due to the horrible launch start up for that game. He also made revelations too. Not bad huh? Alex Hutchinson for ac3 is off for his own studio. See what I’m saying? The game directors who made this franchise originally great is gone. I honestly don’t know if ac franchise will return back once to its roots or continue the downhill it has embarked ever since the original director was fired remains to be seen.
Yeah that was some troubling news I heard too and it sucks because Ashraf was the only game director left that listened to what the fans of the older games wanted. Not to mention this next game is likely going to be made by Ubisoft Quebec so brace yourselves for Assassins Creed Odyssey 1.5. I hope someone else is willing to re focus the series but we have to wait and see, but when it comes to giving the fans what they want and making money, money wins all day for Ubisoft.
@@masterassassin791 I blame the consumers, whoever buys games like Odyssey or even Valhalla are the ones signalling the wrong intentions to Ubisoft. I myself have stopped buying at release ever since syndicate. It’s just not worth it anymore. The franchise had changed too much. You know, I expected Shaun and Rebecca to use the shroud from syndicate to revive Desmond and have Ubisoft return to what assassins creed was. However I guess they just ignored that opportunity, I wish Desmond could get revived as it is proven the shroud does revive people, if we could just have a few more games on him that will be great. I never knew the franchise I loved and cherished so much will go to shit like it has today. Assassins creed used to have such a strong story. Now it’s in relation to all these ridiculous and stupid mythical Greek beasts or some fantasy shit like Atlanta.

RPG's not for everyone but i personaly enjoyed it.
think of it as a Witcher but AC.
So, social stealth is back. Good. That's step 1.
Now, bring back Unity like large intricate cities and parkour. And implement a Ghost of Tsushima like combat (preferably with better animations) and I'll start buying Assassin's Creed games again.

i put 128 hours into this game, it just dragged on and on and on. i felt so burnt out at one point that i stopped playing for two weeks and got back into just so that i can say i finished it. it was fun in the beginning but then it got really dull somewhere in between.

It’s a really pretty game. I’ll give it that. Everything else about it is kind of monotonous and mostly just grind. The stories are cool, but take too long and can also become boring. The world could’ve been more immersive if they had skipped forward a couple hundred years to the medieval era.
An AC Ranking would be so cool. I may disagree with you, but I guess you will bring up some good arguments! Great video btw.

Well... I kinda disagree. Sure there are parts that feel like Viking with raids and sieges but the stealth sections definitely make you feel like an assassin
@@masterassassin791 if you want to be in an less stealth version of ac 1 but thats just me, also the scene where hytham failed jump assassination on the boss battle is a big FU to old fans well me atleast.
Great review! One thing though, I found that you actually get quite often the opportunity to use stealth, for example oin raids.
I wish they would include more assassin oriented outfits or atleast color dye to change the color of the outfits. Because im not a big fan of the hidden ones outfit being green and gold
Review was great 👍,but if I say , I was not so hyped for valhalla (even if I am an assasins creed fan ) because , origins , odessey and even in some cases valhalla are very different from assasins creed source material which made the prior ac games special from other open world games . I can agree ac origins as an assasins creed game but I cant say this about ac odessey . Valhalla came back to the routes of origins . Overall great review .
I think the last true assasin's creed game musy be ac unity or syndicate . I was watching your review of ac unity ( why ac unity is one of the best game in the series) and thought I should try ( because I didnt bought it at the first place ) and it become my most played game since assasins creed 2 . I am pumped to play this, when I finished Odyssey. I like Odyssey aswell, but miss the old games. I hate traveling by boat through the world in Odyssey, takes too much time.

@@masterassassin791 Love it so far, breath of fresh air. I did not notice how much stuff in Odyssey annoyed me until I played Valhalle. Playing on max diff, in Odyssey enemies were bullet spoonges, in Valhalla they still die fast, but do a lot of dmg. Soo much better =)
We need a more modern day assassin’s creed. You can argue the watch dogs 1 and legion are like that but they could go way more in depth. I would also like to see some sort of watch dogs cross over because they take place in the same universe. I’d really want to see some of the assassins going after pierce since they killed one of their own during a fixer contract.
That would be really cool. A game dedicated to the modern assassins.

I stopped playing after 2 days of launch cuz of bugged quests. Came back a few days ago, started over again, and now its great. They fixed a lot of the issues I experienced last year. Really enjoying it.
Fun Fact: When you are not upgraded everyone kills you, however when you Max out your character, no one can kill you.
Maybe it's just me but I just miss and Love the combat system From AC 3 To Unity
I'm just not feeling the new RPG system since it's like a common trope in hundreds of games. The previous games had combat which was unique to the franchise. Especially those finish cinematics with minor enemies

AC is not anymore ASSASSIN'S CREED now it is viking's creed. I personally want a game like black flag in my opinion.
I know it sounds crazy but Ghost of Tsushima is predominantly why I have a sudden interest in the AC series.. Also, being a spinoff of Prince of Persia.. Unpopular opinion perhaps but Ubi is just a tremendous dev.. Maybe even underrated as wild as that sounds..

Only point that I did question was how you said there's more combat than stealth. Surely that's because the Vikings weren't known for stealth and that's been taken into account when making the game ?

Good review! Glad the series is developing, but it’s not for me. I played through Origins and Odyssey and wasn’t a fan of the direction they are going in. They took away too many mechanics that made AC an amazing game.

4/10 for me, it is good at the beginning then it gets really repetitive after a while but I love the story
Got the Complete edition on sale 2 weeks ago. Loving the game! I am playing it on one difficulty just bellow the highest and let me tell you...Combat is NOT boring x-D If and when I will feel overpowered I will go to top difficulty. Combat is always more involved in higher difficulties. Side quests ( mysteries) are great and some of them are very funny or touching. Main story has awesome cinematic sequencies never before seen in an Assassin's game. It involves some quite shocking moments as well. Still can't get over the Ivar/Ceolbert questline. Overall, and as a HUGE fan of Odyssey, I think that Valhalla might be the better game in the end. Although village pillaging and monastery raids don't sit well with my roleplay and the lack of naval battles might not lead me placing it higher in the end...I m still playing :)
I already played Origins and Odyssey.

Fuck man you actually played through them all the way? You're a trooper. I don't blame you at all for staying away from this one. I will say I'm actually having fun playing it unlike the last 2 and if you find it for a low price you might want to try it in the future if you liked the older games at all... The story is OKAY but I'm having a lot of fun just doing what I want and that's more than I can say for the last 2 in the series.

Even though most people don’t like the Asgard arc which I can respect and I understand it is heavy with the lore of course I don’t want to spoil anything about it so you know I recommend playing it because you know I don’t wanna spoil for the people didn’t play the game yet ,but it has a lot of isu lore and you have to read in between the lines when you’re playing it to understand it better

I wonder if there'll be a black assassin as the main character. The closest to this is probably Adewele but that was kind of a DLC and I hated it. Some say Bayek but he's North African and not technically black.

Y are people upset that there wasn’t assassins or templars in 400bc they weren’t created yet I think odyssey was great for me one of the great things about these games is that it lets u see different parts of history that you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise
Actually there were assassins back then except they weren’t really called the assassins but they held the same idleologies that the assassins had

You can do raids in stealth the game just never tells you it’s an option. Simply go take out the guards by yourself using stealth then when your ready use the horn to call for the raid to start.
I think the problem with ac Valhalla is the the boring combat the under utilized parkour, I think what really made me dislike the game is that I looked up to many guides it took out the exploration for me, you can't even blame me imagine looking for a specific item in the big map it's disheartening

In my opinion, Eivor now replaces Connor with having the most tragic origin story. Only wish he/she became an Assassin.
I personally still think Connor has a more tragic story especially based on the ending I got with Valhalla. (I got the happy ending). But Connor had his village burned and watched his mother die, he was forced to kill his father and his best friend, and the one person he had became closed to and loved like a father also died (Achilles).

Worst things about this game are: those stupid post death cutscenes that returned from God awful Origins, the forced Dag storyline, Basim, and really getting sick of the whole order/cult thing that adds nothing to the story.
The reasoning behind the limited stealth options is the fact that by and large Vikings are HONOURABLE in your face warriors.Rather than slinking in the shadow assassins. And from what I have gathered Alvior IS NOT a a member of the Brotherhood of Assassins.

This indeed isn’t the best AC game .. But Valhalla certainly is one of the best open world games of 2020...
I liked the traversal system a lot in Valhalla.... Side quests...Graphics.. Story.. Setting ..Soundtrack..world...I loved allothat...
But the story lenth.. Arcs... Mission structure.. Combat..progression system...really turned me down at times...
But all in all Valhalla is a 8.5/10 as well for me..

I think you will quite enjoy the game then, there may be a lot that is confusing if you don’t understand Assassin’s Creed lore but I think you will still enjoy it

I’m glad people are liking this game. I haven’t really enjoyed it all that much so far, beyond it’s a big video game in 2021, so it’s fun enough. My hope is maybe it’s just the setting that bores me or the fact that I’m a Viking that makes it hard to root for the character.
I’ve definitely liked the gameplay of Odyssey and Origins better, but I will say that hunting is better in Valhalla.
As far as combat, it seems cartoony and very easy compared to the nice challenge of Odyssey and Origins. The easiness also doesn’t really incentivize stealth all to much.
Not trying to hate though, a lot of people like it so it’s clearly a good game. Just hoping the setting and character of the next one is more captivating to me.

Exactly. Most the modern day stuff is geared towards hard core AC fans who care about *all* the AC lore. Should be an option between turning it on or off. This game finally does a good job at really immersing you in the world and the characters but then that's ruined by the modern day stuff
Long story short buy it on sale!. I'm waiting for the dlcs to be on sale to buy them
Honestly I didn't have any problems with looting in AC origins or Odyssey. I kept upgrade and I ended with the stuff I liked the most I just spent time upgrading that . There's no need to stop and switch weapons every 5 minutes if you're still dealing enough damage .
