Do you bring your laptop when you travel?
Need to bring it.
This video is super helpful! I’m a beginner photographer thinking about getting an ipad for Lightroom editing… if im using an external hard drive most of the time do u think I can get away with a 64GB?
Ideally you would want to have some extra room on your iPad, so if you haven't bought an iPad yet, 128gb as a beginner or 256gb if you really take that many photos or just have a lot of stuff on your ipad.
You can definitely make 64gb work though.
I’ve had a 64 gb since 2018. Honestly I don’t really know how I’ve made it this far considering that gen isn’t compatible with external drives. The primary reason I’m looking to upgrade is because of storage.
Now that I’m doing bigger shoots with raw files (and the files grow in size every couple years) I’m struggling to get through a job because there’s not enough local space to handle all the photos at once. You’ll have better performance and less headache with at lease 128gb
Hi - do you think it will be better to edit photos on iPad than on MacBook ? For example using Apple Pencil on iPad will it be easier to precise apply for example bokeh or sharpening etc ? Using trackpad on MacBook is not so precise - I am making a wildlife bird photos
I wouldn’t say it’s better, but if you need that precision, perhaps you would be interested in investing in a Wacom tablet to use alongside your MacBook.
I was looking into this but then read the m1 performs basically the same as the non m1 chip, the A12z. Apparently it’s bc the apps aren’t even optimized for the m1 so the a12z is apparently just as good, kinda surprised me .
Do you have experience with the other iPads chips, like the a12Z? Or newer versions of non m chip iPads ?
Sorry, only this one. This is my first iPad with the USB-C port.
Hi Mike, I would like to buy a tab mainly for lightroom mobile use. at the moment i edit on my phone, samsung S21 ultra, but sometimes in intense edit the lightroom mobile close app and I have to open again ( perhaps due to the processor not being fast enough, because in terms of memory it was 12 ram ). Did you notice either with the Tab S8 or the Ipad air any issue when editing concerning smooth, speed, colors, etc? what do you recomment for lightroom mobile editing , Ipad ir 2024 Vs samsung Tab S9?
I haven't had any issues with my iPad Air. I recommend whatever fits well into your ecosystem. Both are capable tools. I chose the iPad Air simply for the Airdrop and simpler sharing between my Mac and iPhone.
Could you clarify how you use Backblaze on the iPad? Does BackBlaze automatically save all the images on the iPad? I know that's how it works on a laptop.
I don't use use backblaze on the iPad, I would just save the photos via backblaze when I return to my desktop.
What size hard drive do you have on the ipad?
256gb
Can you use photoshop on this iPad?
Yes you can!
