Thanks Bill! 🙏
Richard McVeigh | BEAUTY IN SOUND, This made me so happy! I liked and subscribed!
Brilliantly.executed St Anne Fugue Richard!
even with Nayla's 'grace notes' 😂
Thank you so much for playing Raymond Haan’s composition of ‘Eventide’. He was the chapel organist and my English teacher at Calvin Christian High School in Grandville, Michigan USA from 1972-1975.
For every chapel service they rolled a beautiful three rank organ out of a closet in the gym and plugged it into an outlet in the middle of the tip-off circle of the basketball court! We students sat on the bleachers and the organ was front and center for every chapel service. Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories❣️He is now 86 and still with us❣️
What a lovely remembrance tribute of this gentleman who is organist, your former English teacher, & a composer.
Thanks for another wonderful VC.
Wonderful VC. Enjoyed the Bach and the tribute to the American Armed Forces.
Thank you Richard and Caroline as always. I played "Holy, Holy, Holy" for this Sunday morning's gathering prelude at church with excellent success, due to the convenient fact that the entire congregation and choir are chattering away like social monkeys, so I can easily get away with improvisation, and nobody notices.
Thank you very much for a great VC. My favourite was Richard Haan’s ‘Eventide’.
Thanks for your commemoration of our Memorial Day. When is your county's commemoration of the war dead? Be sure to let the one's of us from other countries so we can join you in remembering.
In the UK it is Remembrance Sunday which is the Sunday closest to 11th November - the date on which the Armistice signalling the end of the First World War was signed.
Another wonderful VC today… Trinity Sunday. Thanks for playing Bach’s St Anne BWV 552 and Holy, Holy, Holy.
Reading the live chat is as wonderful as the glorious music for Trinity Sunday & "waffling" of Richard & Caroline & seeing the kitties! Missed seeing the children, Hugo & Caroline, but maybe their naptimes. Thanks always, to behind the scenes people: very important! Enjoyed the dialogue @ being late or on time(!); the tribute to "Aunt Anne" who was a concert musician, older now w/stroke induced paralysis; & info re: music written wthemes of 3 as we interpret: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit; plus all you worldwide connections of folks brought together by BIS & Virtual Church. About Confirmation names: coming from one mainline Protestant tradition (which does not celebrate Confirmation) to the Roman Catholic tradition, I did take a Saint's name for the Sacrament. I don't know @ other Orthodox traditions w/Confirmation. Yes indeed: "Holy GOD, we praise Thy NAME"! PERFECT!! Thank you all for your candor!
Excellent VC Richard ..To start with Prelude from BWV 552 was great 😀A complete Trinity Sunday after finishing with VC.
Thank you for "America the beautiful"
Another wonderful VC session, Trinity Sunday has so many great hymns to choose from, and then there was a certain personal birthday greeting -- thank you so much for that! All I thought would happen after mentioning my special day would be greetings from fellow chatters -- and thank you everyone for those! -- but I surely didn't expect a personal solo from Richard & Caroline.
Besides the Bach, of course, I was impressed with the Herbert Howells tune. Would like to have heard more Trinity hymns on Trinity Sunday.
RC When Confirmed, we choose a Confirmation name, one of the Saints names to be a guide through life. I chose St. Cecelia because of my love of music.
Hi Richard, I really enjoy listening to VC throughout the week as I drive around for work. I’m not sure if this has been pointed out since you got your new microphone, which does sound good, but when you start to push it, by speaking louder than a soft speaking tone, it really begins to distort in a less than graceful way. It sounds like something is out of whack somewhere in the gain structure. You seem to be a competent audio tech, so I have no doubt you’ll figure it out! I just wanted to point it out since it does grate on the ears a little. Thanks for doing this every week. By the time I listen through a VC I can’t wait for the next one to drop!
"Holt, Holy, Holy" . You did it just right. Thanks
Absolutely loved your bookending both ends of VC with Bach❣️And I appreciated the “Happy Birthday” since my birthday was Saturday❣️😁🎂🥳
From Boston, Mass. USA
I hope there is a VC this week as I’m traveling to Hawaii for vacation the following week. Wonder what good Hawaiian hymns there are?
The team shirt with the name and number made me laugh. I might wear one for Sunday evening service. We're a little less formal then. Maybe the Preacher could wear a ' 1 '.
I think there's a case for Dear Lord and Father being a Trinity hymn.
V1 appeals to the Father
V2 &3 talk about the Son
V4 and 5 appeal to the Spirit
EDIT: RE: "Ring the Bells" - I was today years old when I found out this is where the tune to "Click go the Shears" came from.
In the Roman Catholic tradition, a confirmation name is chosen by the person being confirmed and it is believed that the saint chosen remains with the person for the rest of their life, almost like a guardian angel. It is believed that the chosen saint accompanies the confirmandi with their prayers throughout life. You asked about confirmation names.
What no GOTT VATER, SEI GEPRIESEN, O God Almighty Father?! 🙃
Australians know "Hark, Sinner, Hark," by the rather less spiritual title of "Click go the shears!" :)
