I adore this hymn and your version really helps draw out the beautiful harmonies. I used to worship occassionally at St Martin's Roath - its acoustics are stunning! Thank you.
Thanks Will! It’s a fabulous hymn, isn’t it; this was our first session back in 2021 after lockdowns so it has extra poignancy for us in Caritas. Totally agree re the acoustics in St Martin’s; we still occasionally rehearse and record there.
Glad you enjoyed it, Maurice! That was our first return to action after the three lockdowns - 2021 - so we had to grab the opportunity at short notice and assemble a group without preparing all the concert gear...
Really nice hymn and well done. The sanctuary is ugly. All those words as a back drop for the altar is really disturbing. Im sure it isnt what the sanctuary originally looked like. Put a nice red velvet dossal curtain there instead with a large crucifix and it will look more like a church rather than a advertisement for something.
I’m sorry that you thought this; we were limited in terms of where we could place the camera on this occasion…. and I promise that I wasn’t seeking any limelight (or even to be in the shot at all!)
An amazing hymn and the harmonies are beautiful, and i just loved the descant.
Thank you so much. I absolutely love this hymn - so appropriate for this coming Sunday 'Christ the King'. The descant is amazing!
@@sallykimmis4637 - Thank you, Sally. So glad that you’ve enjoyed this; it’s a fabulous hymn, isn’t it! And Naylor’s own descant is brilliant too!
We sang this absolutely Majestic hymn on Sunday...And I cannot stop listening to it... The descent is indeed amazing...👌👌
@@ruthliberty2366 - so glad that you enjoyed this, Ruth! It’s a fabulous hymn, isn’t it; and Naylor’s own descant is just perfect for the last verse!
love this performance, of the wonderful Coe Fen. Gorgeous descant too.
@@helenlunt9148 - thank you; so glad they you enjoyed this. It was our first outing in 2021 after lockdowns!

Heavenly! Bravo. 😊
My most recent "favourite" hymn tune! Beautifully sung.
Amazing hymn, beautifully sung
A beautiful arrangement superbly delivered. I won't mind to have the music sheet.
Absolutely delightful sound (but I had to forgive with difficulty the over casual dress code)

Fabulous.
Excellent singing - making fine use of the accoustics. Michael Bradley
So superbly done and with such Grace. Great descant so clear to and punctual accuracy to every note. Karl Stewart Bristol Unitarians accompanist
The descant is glorious - thank you indeed. (From Sydney, Australia)
Thank you! Yes - it’s a stunning descant, written by the composer of the tune.

@@lindsaygray2246 hi Lindsay, an you send me the descant part??
A really nice arrangement, how can I get the score please?
Wer hat das komponiert? Könnten Sie bitte den gesungenen Text einstellen? Es ist sehr schön.
@@broglemarkus7751 - apologies that we missed your message. If you could provide your email address I can send the lyrics to you.

Just wonderful, but visually ruined by the conductor - they do love to hog the limelight sometimes.

Should be able to conduct a hymn from the organ if played correctly with expression
Being able to see a conductor at work with a choir is glorious. Thank you.
