    Dodge says their 800 HP challenger will do a quarter mile in 9.9 (maybe it's less I don't really remember) but I only saw one do it in 9.9 even with the skinny front tyres and special fuel, even on a very sticky surface you can't get a close time to what the manufacturer claims, but with Tesla I have seen some 9.2X on the street and a 9.4 is easily achievable on any surface, I have seen a lot of 2.1 sec 0-60 on the street (1.99sec with 1 foot rollout) most brans advertise the best numbers they can get, and Tesla is one of them but the plaid model S gets very close to the claimed numbers even on the street unlike most others brands that are like dodge ( this does not apply to brands like Porsche because they always do better in real life than the claimed numbers 😂).

      Its a RWD car, it simply cant put the power down unless it transformed into a real non street legal dragster. Look at all the built GTRs out there, the fastest one has done the 1/4 mile in 6.58 seconds. The fastest EVs are still in the 8s, and those are millions of dollars. The plaid is impressive setting low 9s for a production car, and I'm sure the roadster will hang in the 8s when its out.

    • @meisterkenobitech
      @meisterkenobitech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Malinkadink the fastest EVs can be on the road, the fastest ice are SUPER UNSAFE and go to track on a truck, I don't give a fuck about how fast an ice car is if it can't even drive on the street. I just saw a video of cars losing control after heavy acceleration, Ferraris, Dodge, McLaren and much much more, the ice cars power curve is less predictable when compared to a ev. Why do think the most HP on a ice car for now is 1500 HP stock from the factory? Because you can't get it higher in a safe and reliable way, EVs are coming out with 2000 hp from the factory. Yes there are ice cars with 2000 HP but they blow up gearboxes all day and can't even drive on the street because they are to unsafe or even illegal (just check carwow drag races and see how many times a tuned 1000+ HP ice car as broken down). Just accept the physics, I have studied a lot about this because I am a mechanical engineer student.

    Elon hit the nail on the head in regards to 3rd party dealerships. We had a terrible experience leasing our 2019 Kia Niro EV because they had tacked on $5,000 to the MSRP and it took about 2 hours of haggling to get it removed. Then the finance manager sped us through doc signing like we were ugly, little gnats bothering him whenever we asked a question. Never again. We love the Niro EV and it convinced us we will never go back to an ICE vehicle or ever go through a 3rd party dealership again. We ordered our Model 3 SR+ 4 weeks ago and look forward to taking delivery in January 2022. Our lease on our Niro EV ends in April so we may push delivery to February 2022 but I have a feeling we'll take delivery sooner rather than later. We've been following Tesla since 2013 and we're not Tesla fan boys but I can't express the excitement we're feeling knowing our next EV will be a Model 3.

    The difference between an Apple car and an Apple ipad/ipod/iphone is that when those were released there was no other "Apple like" company in any of those industries. By Apple like I mean companies with a devoted "fanatical" fan base. The automotive industry DOES already have a company with rabid fans. Tesla. Apple also had Steve Jobs at the helm for all of those products and Tim Cook is no Jobs. How many of you can name the CEO of any other car company? How about an MP3 player CEO? Blackberry (RIM) CEO? Sony? Samsung? Nokia? Exactly.

While I don't mind the wait, pre-approvals are only good for so long and in order to not mess with my FICO score too much, I basically have everything else on pause and keeping a close eye on my credit reports in case an error is reported and I have to fight that (I learned this the hard way about a decade ago). The world market for EVs may grow 15x to 20x this decade from today's sales level. It isn't really a question of whether an Apple car could make a dent in Tesla sales or Tesla growth. Elon will welcome them as a new partner in replacing as many ICE cars as possible, as rapidly as possible. There is more than enough room for both companies.
    I am invested in TSLA, AAPL and BYD and have no concern about any of them interfering with the others' growth anytime in the next 5 or 6 years. As EVs approach market maturity, the competition will cease to be ICE, and the story will change.

    Recently "Tailosive EV" pointed out that if the $25k Model 2 (or whatever Tesla names it) does not include driver controls, then it must include FSD which by then will be a $10k-$12k line item. How will Tesla build a car for a net hardware 'price' of $13k-$15k? As he pointed out, this seems to imply that the Model 2 will be exclusively for Tesla-owned robo-taxis and not really intended for the consumer market. It doesn't seem they could have it both ways. Thoughts??
    Also, I think Toyota will try to make Apple create a Hybrid. What a waste. But whatever (or if ever) Apple puts their brand on, it'll for sure have a killer sound system!

      All Model 3 cars already come with all the FSD hardware whether you buy FSD for $10000 or not. With the elimination of the radar with the recent change the hardware cost has gone down even further for FSD. $10000 price tag for FSD is mostly for software. So the $25000 car with FSD doesn't have to be a $15K car. It can be a $23000 or $24500 car. People who have bought FSD and who are buying FSD for $7000 - $10000 are paying for all of FSD development. Only Tesla knows whether they have recouped the RnD money for FSD or not.

      @@mdf1978 Let me apologize for my poorly executed attempt at sarcasm. I think you're right, or at least I would hope you are. Apple and Toyota are the most confusing bedfellows in my mind. Toyota is as entrenched in the past as Apple is pointed toward the future. Mr Toy-Yoda is so tightly wedded and in love with his ICE-tech bride that he won't listen to all the doctors who are telling him that she's terminally ill. In his deluded state he's turning to his Hybrid-tech daughter for comfort, but sadly she's saddled with the same genetic disease as her mother. It's either that or he's lying through his hat and they're truly on the verge of having solid state batteries. Yeah right...
      Sandy Munro recently showed us the Kia Niro. He didn't like the one-size fits all engine compartment, but I think it's brilliant! Yes it would be best if they could drop all shackles to the past and start with a clean slate, but that's not realistic for legacy auto makers with tons of inventory and engineering prowess from the past. Yeah, it wasn't the most modern implementation, but I think there's a market for that kind of platform as a bridge to the future IF they can manufacture them cheaply enough. I think it's better than nothing, and it may get them out of paying regulatory credits.
      The manufacturer I wonder most about but have heard the least is Honda. They've been an engine company since day one. They put their engines in lawnmowers, Indy cars, generators, motorcycles and automobiles. Is anyone as deeply entrenched in ICE? But if anyone can pull off the Niro model of transition I think it could be them.

      @@r56mini I agree with all your stats and points. The point that I made so poorly was about customer perception. If as Elon seemed to indicate at battery day that a $25k auto was what the public was waiting for, I don't think it's really achievable without what a steering wheel implies.
      I think the lack of a steering wheel requires FSD, and I would say, it kinda looks like they'll get it essentially for free if the price is really $25k. If the value of FSD is truly $10k or more, as they've tried to convince everybody who's bought it so far, how pissed are those who paid dearly for the capability going to view those who get it without paying extra in a car that costs somewhat around half of what they paid? Yes the existing customers of FSD have paid for the R&D with little to show for it. Will they be happy to whistle a happy tune when the next guys don't have to ante up?
      Bottom line: How will Tesla justify putting an option that previous customers have paid so much for into a vehicle that will include it as essentially 'standard equipment'? Or maybe this means the inexpensive "Model 2" was never intended to be owned by customers. They'll be relegated to Robo-Taxis that Tesla owns, and the customers who were champing at the bit for an inexpensive, but high quality, BEV will be left hungry in the cold with only the GM Bolts and Huang Guang MINI EVs to increase their yearning.

    I still don't get all the hype over an Apple car, and if I owned stock in the company, I'd be extremely concerned. The field that has bankrupted all but Ford and Tesla in the last 100 years of U.S. auto production? The business with insanely high capital expenditures? Nothing about that passes the sniff test to me. It sounds like fanboys being fanboys and wanting Apple to make everything. And, of course, entering the market in 2024 really means closer to 2026 or 2027 after they ramp production. The bulk of people will have switched over to an EV by then, and will be waiting another 5-10 years to buy another car. The market they are preparing to enter won't be around for them.
