    • @MC-bm3cy

      It will be licensed to other OEMs at a greater price, let them pay for it at a premium (like supercharger rates). $50 per month would have a much higher take rate with the Tesla fleet. $200 per month would be less than 1/4 of the fleet with many using it occasionally. FSD is a sunk cost, let the other OEMs pay for it at a larger %. 1 million Tesla cars at $50 a month is $50 million a month in SaaS revenue. In two years they would make over a billion a year in SaaS revenue just from the Tesla fleet. Now pick yourself off the floor and know that Elon will figure out a realistic price for the average Tesla owner. Remember , leases are under $400 a month right now.

    IMO 6k for FSD and 3K for enhanced autopilot is reasonable and something I would pull the trigger on. 12k for personal use FSD is nuts even if it’s flawless. Maybe for commercial use 12k makes sense but not for private usage.

      Having just tried FSD I will say it’s worth about $2k to me. If I was a practicing alcoholic, $12k no problem! If you are old and near the end of your driving life, this is a game changer if they can make the car simple enough for the elderly to learn. Maybe have “grandma” mode to make the interface elderly proof. Tesla should lower the price to spur adoption and acceptance of FSD and robo taxis in the future.

    • @JP-kb4yi
      @JP-kb4yi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jfly2249 Tesla will not lower the price anywhere close to $2k and thats what you pay to upgrade from cloth to leather seats in most autos. Far more than the elderly and alcoholics will benefit from FSD. It’s unfortunate you don’t see the value but to each their own.

    They need to drop the price back under 7k or 99 per month and actually take accident responsibility and remove the beta label for the average consumer to take it seriously. If 1 month isn’t enough, sign up for the subscription. Or buy it at current price. Many advanced highway assistance features from other cars are about 4-6k. So why shouldn’t FSD be more than that?

    • @Nathan-ty6fd
      @Nathan-ty6fd หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      agreed on the price. I they made a huge mistake in their pricing methodology . They should have rolled out $12K - $15K FSD Licenses that are transferable to at lease 3 or 4 cars to raise capital for compute / AI/ML engineering staff. And now that they actually have something worth selling, they drop the price to $4K - $5K extra. At lease for me, I am a single guy, engineer, but I have a hard time justifying paying $12K for a feature that I don't actually real need - as I can drive myself just fine.
      In terms of Liability - that is not going away anytime soon - even if it gets safer than humans. We sadly live in a world of lawyers.

    It’s interesting that Tesla chose to force their drivers to park safely at charging stations and other manufacturers chose to let their drivers park in the normal unsafe American lazy way. Which is where the most dangerous part of parking is done with vehicles and pedestrians crossing behind your vehicle. I worked for the largest fleet in America they made us take a safety course on parking and it’s not up for debate. Pulling into a parking spot is more dangerous than reversing into it because when you pull out you can more easily see the pedestrians and vehicles going past you.

      My current van has an 84" wide KUV service body on it, and I've no problem lining it up between 2 parked cars, dead center of the spot, with no rear view or parking aids, other than the side mirrors.
      To snipe my spot they would have to drive through the back of my van, or other parking spots, so good luck with that.
      My personal car has the cross traffic sensors and backup camera too, I still find it safer and more convenient to back into spots.
      As for the Tesla auto park, I don't care.

    It's more about what the free FSD trial will do for Tesla's data collection rates to propel the fine tuning of FSD forward. Win for Tesla. The sooner Tesla get real FSD ( probably within the next decade ) the more valuable their vehicles will become to customers. This ultimately benefits Tesla and the customer will still have to pay for a more refined FSD eventually.

    Tesla is selling Superchargers to other charge equipment suppliers partly because of Tesla's legendary reliability and up time. But those factors depend on the fact that data from every Supercharger is constantly sent to Tesla and either OTA updates are sent or a service tech is dispatched to repair/replace hardware. My question is whether rebranded Superchargers will get the same quality service from the buyers or whether Tesla will be paid to do the maintenance so the Tesla charging image will not suffer degradation.

    Tesla may be recognizing that if deliveries are already likely to be lower due to external factors such as market conditions, supply chain issues, or seasonal fluctuations, then the company has a window of opportunity to focus on other priorities or initiatives (like FSD) that might be more difficult to implement during periods of high demand and rapid growth.

    My gripe with FSD isn't necessarily the cost of it. It's the fact that, outside of a promotion Tesla is running for that quarter to transfer it, it stays with the car.
    So if you want to buy a new Tesla and have FSD on your old one, or you get into an accident that totals it and you buy another one, it may give you some pause to have to buy FSD again, especially if the cost is higher than when you paid for it.
    If Tesla wants people to shell out $12k for it, it needs to stay with the customer's account, or at least offer a free/reduced price transfer if you're trading in a Tesla for a newer one.
    I bought FSD on my Model Y for $7k, and while I mostly enjoy it, I would be hesitant to pay $12k for it if I had to get a new Tesla now.

    Let's go to first principles. If the fundamental purpose of FSD is to produce cars that are safer than the average driver (as opposed to just enabling robo-taxis) then the only ethical course of action is to make it standard equipment, included in the base price, in every vehicle that Tesla sells. OTOH, at $12k it is just party tricks I have no need or desire for. Basic autopilot is really all I want or need.

    Just because a car can charge quickly doesn't mean it's people will be good with low range. Charging more frequently means paying more to drive it and at that means it could get as expensive as driving an ICE vehicle, this is not what the EV industry needs. Yes, at some point down the road the cost to charge an EV will be the same as an ICE vehicle pays for gas, but we don't need that happening this soon. The EV industry needs to focus on more range with reduced vehicle prices. That alone will get dire hard ICE owners into EV's.

    If you listen to what Tesla has been saying all along, you would not have assumed they would use the 4680 battery for their next generation $25k EV. At battery day Tesla stated that the 4680 battery would be used for their higher end EV with longer range requirements. The LFP would be used in the lower-end of most models (i.e. the low end Model 3, Model Y, and perhaps the low end CybrTrk). The next generation EV will be a mass market EV - the smallest and cheapest EV that Tesla has ever produced. Why would they ever put a premium battery like the 4680 battery in this type of vehicle? Its not logical, economical, nor intelligent.
