In this clip, Tyrin Turner spoke with Shawn Prez about the praise he received from Kendrick Lamar at the MTV Awards and reflected on the love he's received, in general, for his role as Caine in Menace II Society. He also explained why he thinks it's virtually impossible for there to be a successful Menace II Society remake.

Kane was pushing the green & gold Mustang 5.0 on stolen Daytons and low profile tires...pumping " Computer Love" ...so many classic scenes in that movie...even the opening scene was crazy!

It can work in a different city, with all new characters. The only thing that really changed is the prominence of gang life from the west coast to the east coast and Midwest.

I completely agree with him! I've said the same thing about all these remakes, "reimagining", re-do...whatever. The people now, for one, don't have the talent to do justice to ANY of these classics. Two, as Tyrin said, the energy, the genuineness, of what was done cannot be matched. These new people need to come up with their own ideas. Problem is, they don't have it in them to create anything that sticks. They don't have it in them. Leave the classics alone.

China put out a lot of movies and in these movies, the ones we got to see, they portrayed themselves positively for the most part. And that is lesson people everywhere need to learn. Hell nah there could never be a remake. Larenz Tate brought so much authenticity to O-Dog that I don’t think it could be replicated. There’s not an actor who could bring that same energy without it feeling forced

O-Dog didn't die, Caine and Shareef are the main characters who died in the end. You're right tho that there should never be a remake but just to clarify, O-Dog got arrested...not killed.

That movie can never be remade again, with the same energy it had back then, because it’s a different time now. Back then, that was what life was in the hood. Nowadays, it’s a lot different. Things still happen in the neighborhoods, but not at the extent that it was exploding in the 90s. It wouldn’t have the same impact now if it was remade. Kids would not be able to relate to it the same

A lot of movies and shows have already been made and most of them have failed to be just as good as the original. A lot of movies and shows don't need to be remade. Menace II Society is one of them, same with Boyz N The Hood. They were so groundbreaking, and they paved the way for hood movies and they influenced how filmmakers made hood movies. On May 26th 1993 Menace II Society was released in theaters. That was 30 years ago. A lot has changed in the world and in the country since 1993. The culture, the technology, the music, the film making, the way people watch movies and TV, the movie industry etc. Remaking Menace II Society today would be a very bad idea.

Agreed. You can't remake Menace II Society, leave the classics alone, but a sequel would be dope if it was set in 2013, 20 years after the original, and it followed Caine's son by Ileena, if done right by the right people (preferably the Hughes Brothers), and the right cast (with some guest appearances from the OG's, O-Dogg, Ronnie, Chauncey, Pernell, Stacy, A-Wax, who all had a close relationship with Caine with the exception of Chauncey).

O-Dogg is in prison and A-Wax definitely wouldn’t still be alive in 2013
@@georgehamilton2691 Pernell was in prison when Caine went to see him, it could be a scene similar to that, and A-Wax was already an OG, like Caine stated when they introduced him, so it's very possible for him to still be alive.
And A-wax raises looks out for Cain's son like Cain did for Parnells kid with Jada. From the Pen O- dog run his street gang and gets word Cain's lil man is in the streets banging .....story line coming together

This movie was 2 years after Natasha i was able to live through what this movie portrayed at the same age and time as they characters, it really felt like the movie was made from us ..

Remake would likely fall flat. The movie is a great time capsule & captured that moment in time. Like the saying goes, “you can never go home again.”
