LMAO! No yall. PAC has a lot of history in his background CONNECTED to Black Muslims, Panthers, and Black consciousness. These other elements shaped him as well. It was not in his DNA to do some watered down version (in his thinking) of a Muslim. Even in his song "I AINT MAD AT'CHA", the lyrics show a friend who can't understand why his lil' homeey STOPPED the druggin' and thuggin' once he becomes MUSLIM. Whether PAC agreed with certain ideologies is unclear, but HE HAD A PROFOUND RESPECT FOR BLACK LIBERATION MOVEMENTS that raised the CONSCIOUSNESS of black people. So, if this interview is valid, apparently, it was eating at the SOUL of PAC to portray a Muslim in such a LUKEWARM light.

Pac wore his emotions on his sleeve. I can only imagine if he had a father figure in his life helping guide him, I believe he would still be alive and a force to reckon with today.
@@gravyguns He meant Pac was a smart man who spoke on how he felt, if he had a older male figure in his life that was like minded to guide that brilliance, he may still be alive today, instead he got mixed up with people who really were not on his level mentally.
He was a great actor in that role. Kane. Yeah he was spot on. That movie resonated in my head for months after I saw it for the first time. I was broken when Kane past away at the end
Out side Mr. Butler making reference to Sharif being a knucklehead and stayin in all sorts of shit until he found the nation no one even had a second thought of him being a Muslim. MC Eiht atleast shed some light on the casts understanding of Sharif and from that Pac prolly felt like it needed to be explored more but it really didn't Pac prolly wanted more time on the camera that he was gonna get.
It’s funny how Turner said he really didn’t know Tupac like that then and I had to remember Tupac in 91’/92’ wasn’t thee Tupac with Deathrow in 94’/95’. What a big difference 2 to 3 years make!
Sadly everyone in the comments dick ride Pac complaining about how he didn’t get a bigger role... Pac was doing another movie, why the Hughes gotta reserve and roll a red carpet for him? Pac would be wasting their time and money waiting for him, Hughes was right Pac was acting like a bitch. And yes Pac was just another dude like the rest of us before he was signed to Death Row. I like Pac, but he is highly overrated.
young city yeah but I think the point he was trying to make is that PAC wasn't big at that time lol. Yeah he was in Juice and had an album but back in 92/93 he was up and coming like everybody else
SHPzFinest Not to mention there were people in the room that was bigger than him at the time like too short, saafir and Mc eiht lol PAC became more popular after Poetic Justice came out
Respectfully, Strictly is my favorite Pac Album, but I don't think he was 2 Pac huge until Me Against The World, so I get it. I also get image wise why he would want a fleshed out character, but Menace is a great film, if you start messing with that pacing, who knows.
That’s because everyone seen the woke dude as the clown. Like most people do today. That’s why no one could imagine a big figure like Tupac in his place. Even tho Tupac was indeed woke.
@@xocolatl3682 Woke isnt the word i would use. Tupac was more aware, so to speak. He refused to let someone put the wool over him, from what ive seen of him, heard from his lyrics, i dont know him, but it seemed he liked to scratch at the surface of things. He was the kind of person to ask questions and shine a light on shit that you kinda dont want light shined on. Like someone said "You found that guys killer, but why can't you find Tupac's and Biggie's?"
@@piscesinadream Rhythm Nation was awesome a lot of emotion in that bit. Like he said we got to see a different part of him vs the Menace II Society character.
Vlad fucked up for that ! I’m telling you he likes making black men look dumb. I was just watching sway and Monique had a malfunction with her earphones and necklace. Dude stopped and fixed that shit right there. . There is a certain kinda respect when you got other blacks workin with you .
I could see PAC playing Shareef if they implemented what he asked for his character. Honestly in my opinion, PAC wanted to be LocDog or have Shareef mirror himself. Shit, he might have played a good Chauncey
Menace II Society is one of my all time favorite movies, but Pac was completely right. Even now, as I watch Menace, I don’t understand Shareef as well as I feel I could and should. Anybody with any concept of good writing understands that a character’s evolution needs to be displayed through a character arc. Now, sure Shareef having a fully blown character arc might have taken away from Caine’s story arc, but it might not have either. Shareef in the end felt like half of a character. Still a good character with a good actor to portray him, but an unfulfilled character arc nonetheless. Pac was 💯% right.
It's not Sharifs movie, why does he need a flashback sequence? Every character got a brief summary...Tate didn't act up about his characters past or why he's so sensitive about his mom,A-Wax and Stacy didn't get flashbacks. It's about CAIN...Pac was just insecure that everybody else played a tough street character except him. He was being a bitch.
They had already shown how Sharif was prior to becoming the peace-spreading Muslim character when he was in Boyz N The Hood. "I got enough money to buy me a hundred balls...sheeyit."
I agree with tupac... he knew what a great character consisted of. he was a talented man, and I totally agree with his angle of needing an inspiration - and then showing the audience this, as opposed to just telling them "he's a muslim now, that's all you need to know."
Tupac said it himself " I'm not going to play character that doesn't exist" and it's true what Mc said atleast show a reason why he went Muslim cause in my point of view it's like saying a jevoh witness chilling in house parties with a bunch of gangsters rolling dice doing drugs etc..... never seen it....
sounds to me like Pac already had a conversation with the directors about his concerns, but was told it would be addressed later....in the meantime just come in and read. Pac being the person he was he gon bring it up every chance he get just because.
Derek Chapman but thinking about it makes sense I can see why Pac would want that into the script because the father of Shreef (however you spell the character name) said a part in the movie that Shreef use to get into all kinds of shit so I can understand Pac asking for the script to chance I love Pac
Mrs Britton Yes in that scene they could have shown some flashbacks or something of him bangin and his dude getting killed and his that effected him so much that he turned Muslim
I feel Tyrin. When you fresh out of high school living in your mom house and she telling you to go to school or work your dream career has to get popping right away or you gotta make a decision.
He was a main character in juice which cane out in 92 so to do the smallest role in a big movie and for the character to not have no more scenes after the murder of the cousin ... I will stick to my story ... Tupac was too big of an actor to play that role.... just think of the role and the few words he had to say
@@lovely_star1917 if you were making a joke it wasn’t funny. Just sounded like you were defending somebody’s diva behavior to me. Yeah he might be Tupac but this movie was great without him so I guess they didn’t need him as much as he thought they did.
Tupac was trying to add some artistry to they shit. if they had used 2 or 3 minutes to tell shareefs back story that would have been dope asf. They could have totally eliminated a couple scenes for that.
no tupac was trying to CONTROL a movie that wasn't his...he wasn't even the ''tupac'' he later became known as when this movie came out...he was just grandstanding as usual...y'all kill me always giving pac a pass, when in reality he could be extremely annoying...and those are real facts...
I think they were trying to avoid getting to much into religion which can be controversial for some viewers. There was enough religious people(grandpa and shareef) already trying to turn him.
Actually that sounds perfect, to give shereef a small back story because there in the hood and it would have shown that you can change, pac was dead on about that
BijinXOXO plenty of movies when scripts are not even finished and the actors are given the chance to fix them . The director tried to play pac and he wasn’t having it . He didn’t have no ill feelings towards them . It’s all documented.
How he gonna play Pac like that? 2Pac was a part of Digital Underground, and he already had came out with Brenda's got a Baby...Everyone know that song😏
They should make a part 2 of his long lost son the one that claim she was pregnant by him. Finally gets older and is following in his dad's same foot steps
Mike Bolton for a two hour and change movie I knew they couldn't go in depth with everything...their is so many layers to Pac life but the Hugh brothers and his relationship with Madonna and his x wife Keisha was completely left out
Time had nothing to do with it. This movie was sabotaged on purpose. The movie Goodfellas which is also a BIOPIC is only 5 minutes longer and its a masterpiece! These fools did not care!

Respectfully, Strictly is my favorite Pac Album, but I don't think he was 2 Pac huge until Me Against The World, so I get it. I also get image wise why he would want a fleshed out character, but Menace is a great film, if you start messing with that pacing, who knows.

@@xocolatl3682 Woke isnt the word i would use. Tupac was more aware, so to speak. He was the kind of person to ask questions and shine a light on shit that you kinda dont want light shined on. I could see PAC playing Shareef if they implemented what he asked for his character. Honestly in my opinion, PAC wanted to be LocDog or have Shareef mirror himself. Shit, he might have played a good Chauncey
Tupac wanted the Hughes Brothers to write-in the script to show the back story of why his character Sharrif got turned into a muslim.
But it's funny how he was a Latino cop in Gangland
The SNITCH!??😂😂🤦
I hate this side camera angle. Creative fail.
Maybe they shouldn't have made a Sharif character.
Well said.
2 crap was a dummy and should of kept his mouth shut and did his job.
