Yep… if you take care of it… it should run forever. I’ve had my truck for over 25 years.
But no.matter the owner some just are not engineered or built well enough to get to 500k miles.
04 1500 silverado Z71 419.000 miles original engine only replaced water pump at 365.000. Original transmission serviced every 50 - 60 thousand miles. I do all maintenance. Construction work truck , runs great. Not worth much on blue book, but like gold to me.
No payments since 08.

My 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab 5.9 L had 366,000 miles on it when I sold it 4 years ago! Still purred like a kitten. My current '07 Ram 2500 has 199K on it and runs smooth. Proper maintenance will keep most vehicles running well over 500K.

Just had my 2006 Ridgeline in for routine maintenance . Second time for timing and water pump. Closing in on 200k. I’m retired so I don’t need anything fancy. Bought it used from neighbor. Did some horse trading and he got my 2008 Acura. I got the Ridgeline for 3k and only 188k on it.
Perfect For me. My kids make fun of me and my new truck. No payments and runs like a dream.

My 2012 Tacoma Prerunner just hit 143k the truck is garage kept and still runs and looks new. I did have to put front brakes on it at 114k
@@TheCaptainmojo1973 I agree lol. Mine is a '02 Tacoma PreRunner Double Cab 2.7 liter with over 416K miles on her and she runs like a champ after a rebuild of the engine. A free truck with a little bit of work and TLC can go a long way and run on forever.
My 2003 F150 5.4 2 valve has 409,000 miles and runs perfectly. I use 0w30 oil. It's all original powertrain . The Modular engines like thin oil at startup.
2001 Chevy 1500 4.3 V6 298,000 miles replaced timing chain and distributor.. that’s it paint looks good even .. Original trans .. Drives great

As long as you use AC Delco ignition parts and fuel pumps then you should be ok. I had one and was always fixing issues.

My grandfather made me a Ram lover. He owned a tire and repair shop. He would put over 500,000 miles before changing out vehicles. Never a major repair. Big believer in routine maintenance.

I recently purchased a 2013 Ridgeline with 238K, I will be the first to admit it’s not really a traditional truck, but for someone who owns a home and just needs a truck occasionally they are just what is needed. It still rides like an SUV and feels like it has 50K on it.
I bought a 2013 Ridgeline RT, new off the lot, kept it 13 months, nice engineering, but, it had an easy way for the mice to get into the passenger compartment, traded it in for a new 2014 F150 STX, kind of "primitive", but, no mice can enter the passenger compartment, had 8+ years, no problems.
My '89 4-Runner lasted 18 yrs/200K miles and still ran perfectly--she was totaled by a 90 yr old dementia driver who pulled out in front of me in 2007....Bought '07 Taco that I drove until 6 months ago (109K miles, no repairs....changed oil myself every 8K mi. with full syn -10K-15K oil and Bosch filter)...Still running perfectly when I traded in for used 2019 Tundra Platinum/FX (38K mi., musta been freeway miles at 19K mi./yr)....This will last me until somebody takes my license away in 15-20 yrs (am 76).... ;o)

My 2001 Ford Ranger Edge 4x4 with a 4.0L engine has just gone over 377,000 miles and still hanging in there. No problems with the engine using synthetic Quaker State oil. It's been 20 years this year I had it, but time is running out for both of us. Hope to ride off into the sunset together:-).

Exactly. This study is bogus. The fact a truck is sold with 200K is not an indication of longevity, reliability, or anything else. For instance, Chey has a top end issue for most of their V-8's, of the 90's vintage. It was so bad, at 100-150K, out company dumped it's entire fleet. We switched to Ford and still have two 99's in our fleet today. We have 590K on a F150 and 750K on a 7.3 diesel. It's all about maintaining a good engine. Having said that, our 5.4 1/2 tons build after 2003 and 6.0 diesel were total junk. We currently have Dodge 3/4 tons diesels and Ford 1/2 tons with the 5.0. Trucks are a crap shoot these days. BTW, we are union so we try to buy trucks made in the States..... GM and Dodge build the majority of their trucks in Mexico. So, we have issue with that.

@@chuckhaugan4970 That's funny cause my company used Ford trucks( rentals ) for our fleet and they would all start breaking down almost like clockwork depending on the year/miles. Starters/alternators/ac/heater core issues/trim pieces breaking off like door handles/ electronic issues. I would swear there is a separate assembly line for Ford rental trucks that only hired the lazy, mentally unstable/drug addled worker. I could write a book about Ford truck problems going back to 1998 models to 2015 when I retired.
I made 780,000 klms out of my diesel Toyota Landcruiser auto 80 series 4wd here in Australia before replacing the head!

My 2012 f-350 6.7 diesel has 352,472 miles and still going strong with no issues other than a small radiator fluid leak from a hose.
Good solid truck. Our 2017 F350 crew srw is now just past 101,000 miles with just basic maintenance in my home garage or at the desert while camping🙂. Hoping to get it to 1 million miles in a couple of years as we travel a lot. Good ridin' to you and your super duty.
The diesel engine should last that long, especially considering the upfront cost.

Got a 06’ v8 4.8L Chevy Silverado with 213k miles running strong. Had a light tick come on around 200K but since then have been mixing oil additive from Lucas amd has cleared up that slight nuisance. Hoping to do a $1k maintenance on it, replace spark plugs/wires, change out fluids and filters. The whole 9 to hopefully get another 100k miles out of it 👍🏼
Change your oil every 5000 to 8000 miles. If not more frequently. Do not, DO NOT, use 20 weight oil. Use only 30 weight or if you live in a hot climate, 40 weight. Constantly check your dipstick, never let you engine run low on oil. Never let your cooling system run low on fluid. USE ANTIFREEZE!
I loved my Tundra! It was my favorite vehicle I’ve owned. (I’ve had Honda, Chevy, Nissan, Hyundai, Dodge(husband’s truck)& Toyota) I will forever be a Toyota customer because of the reliability.
My 2002 silverado has 230k. Compression is tight, no gasket leaks. but I do take care of it. Did have transmission repair and new radio.
My 02 Silverado has 347k. Great truck

Yeah my 94 K1500 had to have the exhaust intake gasket replaced rear brake line replaced oil and filter where it was a slow leak of oil at the filter and needed tightened after changing for a nice price of almost $800 dollars but it runs and sounds like a new one now with only just over 116,000 original miles on it and is a daily driver putting at least 13,000 miles each year on it to work and back !!!
My 2005 suburban now has 667.000 miles. I change my oil when it's time, and change parts when needed. I also do a lot of praying 🙏.

I'm going for an 2008 Tundra 5.7 4x4. Found some for $8000 to $10,000 with around 120,000 to 160,000 MLS in great shape. Some of them have been well taken care of.
Both my Rams, '96 and 2010 have over 250k miles.

I have 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 (Cummings turbo) with almost 300K - lasts because I take care of it.
Have a '94 Dodge Ram 1500, for the most part seriously neglected, including periods of it not being moved or started for years at a time... recently just put on newer tires and engine still going strong as ever! The things a beast! The dash may not exist and headlight cover hangs by a thread...but who cares? It's been paid off for a few decades and the 4x4 is still reliable.

I have a 2004 2wd single cab silverado 1500 wit a 4.8 vortec 2nd owner bought it wit 65,000 miles on it nice clean truck all stock & all original except cold air intake from K&N I've been doing reg maintenance on it and now 253,680 miles strong changed alt kept original one changed battery changed knock sensors changed brake pads changed tires. The oil stick never seen dirty oil on it. I Love My Truck & I believe my Truck loves me too.my wife keep telling me to get a newer truck wit less miles on it I keep saying ok and today as my only truck a daily driver which is my only vehicle I own is still going strong.my wife keep saying you love your truck more than me lol I told my wife no your wrong because I still have you too. I wouldn't trade or give up my wife and my GM 1500/4.8 truck. 😁
It all boils down to proper care and maintenance. If you are a turn key and drive kind of person you won’t make any vehicle last. Take care of it and it’ll last. I don’t doubt there are lemons in every brand but usually if you care for it it’ll be reliable.
YOU'RE 100% RIGHT. I OWN A 2003 DODGE RAM 1500 THAT I PURCHASED NEW. IT HAS 284, 598 MILES AND STILL GOING STONG. IT'S NEVER MISSED AN OIL CHANGE, TUNE UP, RADIATOR FLUSH AND CHANGE THE SERPENTINE BELT EVERY YEAR. OTHER THAN BRAKES PADS, ROTORS, BATTERY AND AN ALTERNATOR, HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN YET.

Except a 2021 Ford f 150, plastic oil pan, plasici take, late model 3 valve cam phasers, spark plugs with just 4 threads, flying through the hood, new transmissions failing after leaving the dealership.need I say more, to bring back quality Farley needs to be terminated with 2 week pay min, no more.
Ever vehicle is guaranteed to break if you don't do the required maintenance but not every vehicle is guaranteed to last even if you do.
2011 Silverado 2500HD with a Duramax with 514500 miles on it and totally stock. It's been my daily commuter from Carlisle, Pa area to Baltimore, Md since new. 17.5 mpg calculated. Original turbo, exhaust, fuel injectors, transmission, shocks, replaced the DPF once and the normal DEF issues involving the 9th injector.

I sold my 2000 S-10 Blazer ZR2 in March of 2021. I drove it for almost 19 years. It had 163k on the speedometer when I sold it to a young mechanic friend of mine. The only problems I had were replacing the intake manifold gasket and the ABS. I repaired the ABS myself. I never had a single problem with 4.3 engine period. I maintained it with oil changes and so forth. The 4x4 mechanism always performed the way it was designed. I know that there are vehicles out there with the same story, but unfortunately sometimes people purchase a lemon

If you want to see super high mileage come to Africa, where people import vehicles used in other countries after 7 or more years. And still they use it daily for like over 30 years still doing daily work. U will get mileage of 1M miles.

I have sold cars at 5 major dealerships. Ford is the #1 seller because Ford Motor Company only sells Ford trucks, where GM sells Chevy and GMC trucks. If you combine Chevy and GMC sales they would greatly surpass Ford sales. My last 2 trucks were Dodge Dakotas, which I loved, and my son had a 2002 Ram truck with well over 200K miles when he traded it for a newer one. It still ran and performed great. My next truck will be another Dodge.

Not always true some just do not last due to engineering. Bad design cannot be over come by good maintenance. Plenty.of cars and trucks never see 200k due to bad designs and cheap plastic engine parts. Tons of cars and trucks fail cause they were not properly tested before selling them some flaws take a while to show up. But.many are just bad dedign bad quality control in assembly etc.

@@marcelo403polo2 Uhm, actually they did. Here's how, "Silverado" used to be a trim package before became the actual name of the truck. So, a 4×4 Chevy truck with upper options would be like this: Chevy K1500 Silverado. Nowadays it's: Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ.

2007 ram Megacab with a 5.7 hemi 253k miles at the moment with the same oil pressure it had when I bought it at 100k miles. Normal maintenance is the key and driving it with some respect. I dont know that it won't blow up tommrow but it's been solid so far.

I don't know, but I might be old school still, but I believe Chevy's 283 was the best one that they ever built period but I have always said from the great 348 to the fine 409 which were in some cars but I believe that they were actually truck engines, and Dodge's 225 slant six, and their 318 and I throw in the 383 was one HELL of a motor, and of Ford's all I ever had is their six in a 60 model, 292 in a 54 model I believe and I want to say a 360 or so in a 61 model and those were all pretty good motors, no fancy electronic crap but a simple points and condenser set up for a simple grease monkey, I would still take one of them today over all of this crap we have now, plus they were all built in the USA and they were made HEAVY ALL METAL AND NO PLASTIC

I think that cheap gas prices in America are over. 26 gallon fuel tank at $5.0 a gallon 4x a month will set you at $500.

I drive a 5.7 grand cherokee 11 to 12 mpg. And i mean i drive it. It doesn't just sits there I use it all the time.
21 gallons at 4.20 ( thats the lowest price here ). $ 300 to $ 340 a month. And thats just at the current price. But like i said its only a matter of time where it will hit $5.0
and it will only keep on rising.
My jeep is smaller and way lighter then any full size p/u truck & stiil only 11 tp 12 mpg. That was fine when the gus was under $ 3.5. But those days are gone.

Yea I trade my 07 in at 250k miles but was a great truck and very reliable. Was getting the same mileage on the original plugs. You can probably hit that million mile mark if you try. Good luck.

The criteria doesn’t hole water unless you add in the maintenance cost for the mileage used.
I have a couple F-150 Fords pickups 2001-2004 they've been running great never had to really put no money into none of my truck just normal stuff brakes normal stuff tune-up very good running trucks

I own a 2016 Ram 1500 Lonestar. Run it like hell 200,000 miles. Only thing I've had to replace is water pump, fuel sending unit, and battery. Still feel that HEMI power when I floor it. I think it can easily make 500k. We'll see......
That's pretty good. I've seen them with bad transmissions around 150k and bad rear diffs.
@@benkenny3220 I’ve seen too many fords with engine issues before 40000 miles and electrical issues on the chevys. I’ll never go back to those. Never any issues with my rams.
For motors..ford 300 inline six is million mile motor. Not km. MILES. I have hit over 1 million several times with Ford's inline 300 6cyl. Very reliable. Good torque close to 400 ft/lb torque just not much hp at 250. HP. Ford
My 2003 1500 Silverado has 263,000 and runs like new. General maintenance is key.
@Cuthbert Bracegirdle that’s a funny comment. 2003 was a good year for the Silverado. Many are still on the road with mileage comparable to my truck or more. As for Toyota, I want a truck not a lifted Camry.

Never had good luck with Chevy trucks and vans. Down through the years I have worked at different companies that used them, there track record was really poor. The first company had 6 of them 4 V8’s, 1 V6, and 1 in-line 6. In the 4 years that I worked there, all of the V8’s blew head gaskets, some of them more than once, the V6 twisted the centre out of the flex plate on the back of the engine, and the straight 6 was less of a problem with only a clutch. These all had less than 60,000 miles, and all of them were thirsty. The next place had 2 of them, also high maintenance, the only vans that could go in for service 2 months in a row, and spend over $1,000 on them without being driven in between. The best GM product I ever had was one that I dragged home in a basket when I was 16, and assembled myself.
I put 360k miles on a 2012 Ram 1500 king cab. The most major repair was a used transmission at 230k miles

My 2006 Silverado 2500HD has over 325,000 on the 6.0 gas engine and is still running strong and it is a working farm truck!!!
i have a 97 sierra 2500 with 410255 miles just changed first starter.
My buddies 2000 chevy 6.0 has 330,000 miles and has had an engine tick for the last 30,000 miles. The transmission just failed now. He said it is usually 280,000 the transmissions fail on those.

Most gms are shit though, that 6.0 is the best motor from them I also own one.

4x4 has 346000,no rust on cab ,had a frame repl in 2018 but she runs like a top,,has manual low range and lock rear end ,

My 2004 Silverado Z71 had 327,000+ miles and was going strong until it was totaled in a bad accident. Best truck I ever owned, miss it.
Bought a dodge cummins new in 1996.Now has 480000 miles.Motor and drivetrain has never been touched.Used mostly off highway as a logging rig.

My 2015 F 250 has 278,348. Replaced a leaking radiator. The rest normal maintenance.
I don't drive it too much but my 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 294cid has 270.000 km ( almost 170k miles) and it still awesome. Just an air intake gasket and a new fuel pump. Now it's time for the lazy O2 sensors and shock absorbers.
Been driving my 96 T100 for 20 years daily. Other than some rust 300k miles and runs like new. Cooooold AC
2005 4x Tacoma 206k miles 6sp man. However 3rd gear will grind now and then, use caution or move 2 to 4th gear. No major work. Still have original discs with new brake pads. Engine does not seep oil bone dry unlike some other engines. Changed out all hoses thermostat water pump. Runs great!
You can remove the Stick Shift and replace the rubber bushing and perhaps it will fix it.
Try Amsoil lube for trans
Maybe if you live in a dry climate like in Arizona. Here in Ontario Canada, most cars and trucks die of corrosion long before they have a chance to wear out....

My 02 Dodge has 404k miles and runs better than new. Maintenance is cheaper than payments. My 1996 4 Runner has 197k miles and still runs great.
My '94 2500 Silverado has, as of 10/2022, 415K miles. It has never been worked on by a garage - just me. The only work I did was an engine (4 bolt 350ci) and tranny (4L60E) overhaul which included new radiator & water pump. My girl has her original rearend, drive line, u-joints, brake drums/rotors, etc. A lot of the clearcoat has flaked off and a leaking brake line on a semi I followed left it's marks on the hood and roof. I attribute her longevity to her good family roots (Bowtie) and regular oil/filter changes. I got her from a friend's credit union (divorce sale) with 24K miles in '95 and have personally put all the miles on her. I am almost 80yo and when I am gone I am sure one of my grandsons with give her a new paint job and keep on truckin'.
Have a 2015 Ram Hemi and have not had a minute trouble.love this truck! I haven't spoke to Dodge owners who don't love thier truck. The Ridgeline isn't a truck, it's a car frame and a weak truck body. It's good for going to the grocery store. Don't try to tow with it!
That’s the point of the Ridgeline though. It’s a truck for people who admit they don’t really need a truck. The problem is the price. Once Ford figured out “Hey, let’s make an affordable version of that” the Maverick was born and people love that thing.
F150 and other F series trucks are favorites for ambulances,wreckers police ,construction and forestry .They keep records on the cost of maintenance and in most cases FORD has been the choice more than 50% of the time.GM owners,i was one of them for many years.live in denial that their trucks are no longer what they used to be..the last good one ,id say was the 1972
05 F150 4x4 Lariat 250k just through timing chain. I've towed maxed out loads across many state lines. Being ole'Clark Kent has been long since paid for I'll spend the $300 on the kit and do a timing belt swap for Christmas. Over all very pleased but I'm looking at Tundra next.

Just sold my 1992 F250 diesel with half a million kilometres ( 320,000 miles). Runs like a Swiss watch, used 1 litre oil per change, had it for 15 years, always did maintenance , very little repair, only a junk yard CPU , 1 calliper and brake lines, one wheel bearing, u joints, a couple of glow plugs. That’s it, plus regular expendables. Wow, most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned. Got $5000 for it.
Turbo or no? Turbo diesel killed 6.4 engine. 6.7 is good from what I've been told.

@@icosthop9998 2002 GMC Crew Cab 4X4 Duramax. 2" lift, CPU tuner, intake & exhaust etc. Good shape but Needed rocker panels and a bumper (as usual with them) Used the push on with body glues type rockers -easy. Then rocker guard and touch up paint. looks factory. New tires and I have a $17,000 truck for a lot less
1988 toyota pickup...still running...no engine job no 4speed manual repair...just pressure plate change this year...needs a hood body job after all this time

My buddy has a 2003 Chevy Duramax with 450,000 miles and he doesn't let it warm up or cool down and it's still the original engine and allison transmission. He said about every 150,000 he puts new injectors in it, because it cranks hard, when they get weak.
It isn't uncommon to see a diesel with that mileage.
What's the cost of new injectors?

@@MyLifeThai371 thanks... I thought they were quite expensive but I guess it depends who you get them from and of course the quality. One of the reasons I stayed with gas vehicles. I also don't need that kind of towing power.
Sold my ‘01 Tundra after 18 years of great service with 408K on it. I know I could have easily driven it another 150K if I had too. Superior vehicle. Bought it new.
300k on my ‘03 Tacoma, 300k on my ‘00 4runner. Both run strong still.

My 2007 Tacoma 4 door prerunner V6 4.0L 4wd 5 Sd, has 375k on it. I do all my own changes and repairs after doing modifications she works fine no major issues and gets great mpg (20city/ 24hwy).
@@danielboone2300 not sure what you mean? If your referring to the look of the truck. Than your mistaken. 2 gen Tacoma and 3rd Tacoma are very similar in parts. Must of the exterior parts can be swap over to the 2 gen. Such and the front front grill and the bed of the truck. There are lots of aftermarket parts to fit this truck. That is what I did. I would say my truck looks very close to the current TRD Pro version but with some extra features in technology.

We've hauled quite a lot with our Tundra. We consider it a work truck.

If it's a diesel and I know it is, it's been fixed and repaired numerous times over those 420k miles. Hell anything will keep on running if you keep on repairing and replacing parts🤪☝️
