- Episode 1 of an exploratory journey through world of Samurai Warriors, the sister franchise to my beloved Dynasty Warriors. Today we begin Story Mode and I have no idea what to expect. Let’s jump in the Legend of Kanto with The Great Kanto Defense as the paternal Ujiyasu Hojo and the sweet Lady Hayakawa.

Lady Noh is the Sw version of Zhenji, i think you will love her
For context:
_ Kanto's original administrators were the Uesugi clans. Ujiyasu's father and grandfather expand the domain by waging war against the Imagawa and the Uesugi.
_ Ujiyasu managed to break the Uesugi power in the battle of Kawagoe ( this was, to me his best battle ). He was about to be destroyed by the Imagawa when he just won the big battle when the Takeda vouched for him. The 3 clans then formed the Zentokuji Alliance where they will each be free to expand in their own direction: the Imagawa will push for the capital, the Takeda expanding Kai, the Hojo to consolidate Kanto.
_ Nobunaga broke the Imagawa's power in the battle of Okehazama ( parallel to battle of Guandu ), in turn create a power vacuum. The latter's vassal allied with the Oda, led by the soon-to-be Ieyasu. This gradually broke down the tightly knit relations of the Takeda and the Hojo. The Nagao can also fight with less restraint.
_ The Uesugi administrator flee to Echigo under the Nagao ( Kawagoe battle ). He urged Kenshin to attack the Hojo, going so far as to adopt him and appoint him as the Chancellor of Kanto. Kenshin changed his clan name to Uesugi and proceeded to expedite. He won strings of battle, making Kanto-adjacent lords ally with him, leading to this siege. At the same time that the administrator's request, the Takeda managed to oust the daimyo of Shinano ( Kai-adjacent region ). That lord flee to Kenshin and urged him to punish the Takeda. Kenshin chose to fight the Hojo first. Eventually, they both sued for peace.
_ Ujiyasu in exchange for alliance must give away his son. Kenshin adopted the son and named him Kagetora Uesugi. Kagetora was going to use the Uesugi to destroy the Hojo ( henced why Kotaro Fuma speak of the son's resenment ) Kenshin had adopted a child beforehand, named Kagekatsu Uesugi. The 2 adopted son will have a civil war to duke it out and the latter won.

Ayooo Samurai Warriors. The sister franchise to Dynasty Warriors. Glad you decided to pick up 4 as your first entry to the series. While the lack of a dub turns some people away, the game itself is still entertaining, and imo the story is one of the best parts! (even though I wish there was an easier way to play the stages in chronological order, thankfully there are threats online for that, but it’s still obtuse)
Hope you’ll enjoy experiencing the Segoku Jidai era of Japan and its many twists.
Also, congrats on making it to 200 subs!! Hit that big milestone.

I was playing this earlier today while catching up on your conquest videos and it crossed my mind to request it in a comment but never got around to it, hope you enjoy the game and thjs is a logn running series, personally i think its one of the best koei-warriors games ever made.

Glad you decide to play SW4, 10 years old and still pretty good looking game. I liked your reaction to hyper attacks, you will find them morw useful to travel the map while sweeping enemies instead of using the horse.

I mean, Nobunaga & Cao Cao's philosophy is pretty much similar. Also Hojo's family giving out Sun's family vibe, the resemblance is there. Ujiyasu Hojo = Lion of Sagami , Sun Jian = Tiger of Jiangdong 😆
