  • Looking for a lav / personal mic for location work? Your Sony ECM 50 given up? We compare the Shure Twinplex TL47 with flat frequency cap with the DPA 6060. Both mics are fitted to one of Shure's excellent double tie clips with stand off fittings. Mic Pre is RME Micstacy into MOTU 112D

DPA sounds much better IMHO, maybe the presence boost cap would bring the Shure closer.

Thanks, good spot. I should have worked harder with the optional caps before sending the Shure review kit back. Hindsight! Great engineering in the Shure I'm surprised there isn't more interest really. Ta like, ppm6.

B sounds muddled in comparison, but you can hear the fan of the camera more noticeably in mic A.

A is the DPA and B is the Shure. Ta like, ppm6.

Thanks for the great suggestion. I wish I could but the mics were on loan from Shure UK and I had to give them back. Actually I should have bought at least one, I miss them. Sorry not to be able to help. Ta like, ppm6.

it really depends . To my ear the new shure sounds better but the small footprint of the 6060 might be what you're looking for . Both great mics indeed

Thanks Corrado - well put. The DPA mics are legend, check out this DPA story from a few years ago - www.etnow.com/news/2013/1/recording-the-unique-film-sound-of-les-miserables-with-dpa But - I think the Shure sounds great, I love the fact they are built with ruggedness high up the agenda, and that you get a load of accessories.
