    My wife and I have a few pieces of hunting gear that are in dire need of "re-waterproofing", so this video came out at a perfect time! Those products seem to work awesome, and looks super easy! Time to order!!! Thanks for sharing this! 👍

      Im tellin ya...as i mention below, you Won't be sorry. My Son is driving home from UNI in Denver for the Summer...and i specifically told him to bring All his skiing and winter gear home so i could treat it for next year.

    You can also save money and do your own waterproofing...buy cheap silicone tube and mix it with mineral spirits, apply and air dry. Stays on year round. Fabric stays normal too. 👍

      that is not the point of this product though. Nikwax and DWRs like this are not for waterproofing, so much so as they are for breathability. When a jacket wets out it is still 100% waterproof, but less breathable, so actually, at that point in time, water vapor cannot pass through the fabric.

    Great job Allie!
    I used a product that is no longer on the market that worked well. I could treat blue jeans and pour red wine on them and it ran off like a teflon pan.😱
    This product will now be my replacement😁

    I’m pretty sure it depends on the shell. Some the outer membrane will get wet but that water will never actually get through the middle layer

    Awesome video, Allie! Long time ago I used to have my own carpet and upholstery cleaning business and I used Scotchgard on my reindeer and hunting gear. Work very well. Then I tried the Scotchgard in an aerosol can. It works just as well accept that with the aerosol it had another volatile solvent ingredient in there which caused it to evaporate rapidly but it left a strong stench. I'm looking forward to trying this stuff out.

    I use significantly less of the waterproofing and it still works the same, especially in a machine that has half load function. It also makes clothing insanely statically charged

    I bought 4 bottles of NIKWAX at REI a year ago and have Never looked back!! It is the 'Deal Pickle'!!!....i treated several Jackets again with it just last month in getting ready for the Summer Treks. It's like 'Water on a Ducks back' on your outerwear. *Great to s@@ you again Allie.

    Would it work to wash with TX tech wash and then use TX direct spray on after?

      No it’s not a down jacket, just a ski jacket and pants that has insulation. I guess it will be better to just use the Tx.Direct SPRAY instead of the Tx.Direct WASH.

    How long does it work? I've tried so many products, but they fail in a Washington rain, I can't even get a full week...
    I've been trying Never-Wet on my bino harness, and it's awesome, I can get a full year out of it, before I need to treat again, I'm just afraid to try it on my rain gear.

      For "average" use it is recommend to treat once a year. So for me, it will last through spring turkey season and some fishing then I'll plan to re treat before hunting season!

    How long the water proofing last?

      You can do it by hand also. There’s specific instructions on the bottle, but they recommend gloves.

    Why do you wash it warm when everyone tells you to wash it at 30 - max 40 °C?

      @@anomalyp8584 I have 24 years od experience with high end mens tailored clothing and technical outdoor clothing.
      Manufacturers recommend cold wash because it’s better for the environment and/or primarily because they want to eeerrrr on the side of caution of avoiding fabric shrinkage!
      For maximum performance use warm water with Nikwax wash in waterproofing.
      For enhanced performance use the spray on product that’s applicable to your fabric (I/e cotton proof for cotton)after the wash In.
      I guarantee you, you won’t shrink or damage your garment.

      I will make it like it was when it was new! The "water resistant" finish fades over time and this will give it new life! 👍

    I used these products as instructed. First use afterwards I found it beaded nicely for about 10 minutes and then completely soaked in again. Very disappointed.

      We think so too! Phthalates are on our Restricted Substance List (found on our website) and are not used in any Nikwax products.
