@@unclebillscamping Wanted to provide a little insight here! Standard household detergents (powder or liquid!) leave behind hydrophilic residues that actually ATTRACT water and contribute to a piece of gear wetting out. That is why it is best to use a cleaner like Tech Wash first to clean, because it is fully water based and washes out, just leaving behind a clean piece of gear!!

Im sure you could as this is a spray treatment to be applied to damp. I would run it through the rinse cycle twice just to make sure the detergent is completely off of the fabric before application.
A lot of it varies on usage and how much you need to clean the garment. For me I only need to reapply it once in the cuff area as a precaution after cleaning that area late last year. Unfortunately for me the lining of the jacket started to fall apart before the dwr treatment wore off.
@@unclebillscamping I didn't experience that, but the NIKWAX wash-in sure didn't work. I'm going to try the Grangers Performance Repel Plus spray on. I know you tested it, but I'm going to try putting my jacket in the dryer to se if that helps.
@@lawrencemclennan3 all the way up to earlier this year. It was still going strong but the liner inside the rain jacket started to fall apart so I donated it. It will pretty much hold up as long as it isn’t washed or exposed to something that will remove the application.
I have used it only on nylon but if the jacket you are wanting to treat was at one time weatherproof or water resistant then i can see no reason why it wouldn't work.
I gave you dislike because of two reasons. The first minute of the video is complete wast of time. Secondly you did not mention that the spray bottle nozzle has three positions. OFF-SPRAY-STREAM. I noticed this after I had STREAMED my jacket with almost 1/2 of the bottle and most of the liquid was in pools on top of my jacket. I wasted so much of that stuff, for no reason.
Wow, that is very unfortunate. I’m sorry you had an issue figuring out how to use the spray bottle. If there had been a stream option on the bottle I used I would have mentioned it but after double checking my bottle only has off and on and there is no option for stream only spray.
Really appreciate the video man! Glad someone took the time to showcase this DWR spray, and run down how to apply it.
No problem im glad it helped
This is the bright side of You Tube :D
Happened to me too 😅 Preparing to do the treatment. Thanks for the vid.
No problem👍
Does it work on an almost 15-year old arc'teryx gore-tex jacket that has never gotten this type of treatment?
When you've applied it and as soon as it's dry is it good to go. As i don't have a day and a half for it to dry.
😆 🤣 few days later still waiting for it to dry
I just bought a new gore tex jacket and thought to buy the tech wash and the spray and see if the length of life will be extended.
Did the waterproofing last a while?
Thanks for the vid btw
Yes it lasted until the end of 2022 It’s probably still fine but the liner on the inside fell apart so I had to replace it.
@@unclebillscamping wow amazing result!
Thanks so much for responding also.
@@ABLYamimash3 your welcome and thank you for watching👍
I think its washing powder and fabric softener that will ruin it not regular washing liquid.
It’s possible but I’ll never try and find out😂

Could you apply this wax after your article of clothing comes out of the washer? I have a pair Fjallraven Vida pros that need some TLC
Im sure you could as this is a spray treatment to be applied to damp. I would run it through the rinse cycle twice just to make sure the detergent is completely off of the fabric before application.
That's a must but how long does it stay on?

There is also a Nikwax product that you use in the washing machine to recharge the waterproofing
Didnt damp before use. Will see how it turns out
any update?
@@music-ve1gx you definitely have to dampen it. Running it in the dryer after helped. It’s still not as repellent as it should be.
@@MrPdubs01 thanks!
great tutorial! I just used it and it worked like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to do it!
Thanks for this video 😁 it really helps me alot 👍
I tried the washing in NIKWAX, it didn't work at all. I'll try this spray on. Thanks!
I have never tried the wash in. I have heard it can leave a strange residue in the washer

How big was the content (300 ml)? How many shoftshell jackets you can do with this amount of ml (1,2 or 3)?
Yes it a 300ml and I would say it’s good for about 2 jackets with a little left over.
It will do 3 washes at 100 ml per wash. Each wash can be two garments (for me typically one ski jacket and one ski pants each wash).
Good info Bill, should a tent be wet first then? am thinking yes after watching this video.. Cheers
Damp at least acording to the directions.

Thanks for posting! Really helpful
Washing the Gore Tex in regular detergent is fine. You probably did not reactivate the DWR after it dried.
How..
So is the ''Tech wash in'' basically the same as ''cotton proof'', just in a different bottle as like a marketing gimmick ? i wonder o.0
Thanks for showing us what nikwax didn't
Nice going to order this for my cycling jackets
Very helpful ! ..thanks so much !

It seems stupid you need to wet the product that you're trying to keep dry 😂 I just apply it to dry clothing and it still works.
