I started tearing up too when Jamie cried! She is so genuine and should've gotten amazing roles long before this. The whole cast is so sweet and deserving of everything.
She got the starring role in Halloween movies, Trading Places, True Lies to name a few.

She was like "Dammit, stop talking about me! Youre the star!" It sweet how much they just love and admire each other.
I love how Jamie Lee encourages & uplifts others, in an industry that sometimes gravitates toward pettiness and drama. It doesn't seem to be an act she puts on - this is genuinely who she really is. Jamie was also one of the FEW people who had nothing but nice things to say about her Freaky Friday co-star, Lindsay Lohan, in the past - before the Netflix comeback era, before it became trendy to root for her - when the press and industry had written her off. It didn't surprise me to discover that they have stayed in contact for two decades since filming wrapped. Such a beacon of an actress, with warmth and generosity of spirit!
Yes, Jamie is always warm and motherly and supportive, even to people her own age like Ke. She's so smart and well spoken in interviews too. Just a wise and cool lady.

Jamie was in the press telling everyone she was willing to adopt Lindsay Lohan! It always showed me the kindness and empathy she possesses.
Usually awards season seems calculated and superficial, but the cast of EEAAO and Brendan Fraser is giving me so much joy. It’s so thrilling to see kind, humble people finally get their due.
And Jaime- when she was raised in an industry that chews people out, and to come out being a cheerleader for others and down to earth is amazing ❤

There is several who are nominated that I hope get their due. Ke, Jamie, Michelle, and James Hong, and Brendan Fraser. I'm really rooting for them this Sunday.

Addicts in recovery are the most incredible souls. My moms been sober for more than 10 years and she is such an amazing cheerleader because I think they earned their lives again and don’t take it for granted. They know we all stumble. So they want to help pick others up.

@@IamLegend32 If the director or producer who is related to the other person is making the movie themselves, then they will sometimes use their family in minor roles. These are very rarely major roles.
@IamLegend32 for the exception of Jayden, and maybe Sofia, I wouldn't put Colin that category. He's good enough to get roles on his own. Like his dad, he started out on TV. OShea is debatable
@@IamLegend32 you cannot sustain a near 50-year career getting top roles for decades JUST by being a celebrity’s child. It may have gotten Jamie Lee’s foot in the door a lot easier but to have a career like hers, you MUST have talent. Same goes for Sean Astin, Colin Hanks, and Josh Brolin, who also successfully sustained careers beyond what their parents could give them.
In Hollywood, even these days, you still have to have talent. Let’s see Jaden Smith or O’Shea Jackson pull that off, even with their parents’ sway.
the reason why eeaao was able to work so well is because u can tell the cast genuinely love and care about each other. a family indeed. so glad all of them are finally getting their due, especially actors like michelle yeoh, ke huy quan, and james hong who have been overlooked for years because of their race.

They were not overlooked because of their race. Hollywood is very competitive, and a movie either connects with an audience or it doesn't. Lucy Liu had no problem building up a career over the past 25 years. And Bruce Lee remains a lasting cultural icon like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis.
@@jedijones that's the thing tho, he wasn't given the proper opportunities because no one is writing asian characters, so there just hasn't been a chance for the movie that hasn't been written to connect with an audience. bruce lee & lucy liu are exceptions, but even then, it feels like nbeither of them properly ever got their due, probably due to some implicit bias. there are so many talented asian actors that never got a chance in hollywood: gong li, tang wei, tony leung, song kang-ho, etc etc. even when oscars give a movie best picture, they don't nominate any of the actors (re: parasite, slumdog millionaire). and yeoh, quan, hong are super proflific and are up for a fucking oscar, so it's not even like they've never been talented, they were just never given prestige roles.
when Ke voice cracked i began crying , he is such a beautiful person , every recognition that he received lately is so deserved i couldn't be more happy for this entire cast and The Daniels

Just to add, Jamie Lee Curtis gave an amazing tribute to 93 year old James Hong when he finally received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last March. So much well deserved accolades to all the main actors in EEAAO who are all nominated for Oscars! How incredible is that?! But so happy James Hong received his recognition & star for his lifetime achievements in film & TV, and still so funny, active and youthful! Congrats to Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee (she's Asian too, right?)! May EEAAO have a grand winning sweep on Oscar night!

@@nicklubrino2606 A bit of a shame tbh, I thought his performance in the film is very strong. He knows when to stay out of the way, but when it's his moment to speak and command a scene, he absolutely owns it, he has the rizz of Anthony Hopkins or Malcolm McDowell, I can't keep my eyes off them in any scene they're in. There's several scenes from the film that he's in burned into my memory, and it's just him, even in his interviews when he speaks, he owns it. Dude is a legend.
i will never forgive hollywood's unwillingness to cast asian actors and lack of opportunities for asians for making ke huy quan insecure about his acting. he has a gift and we were denied of so many legendary performances because of it. i'm sure, like he's mentioned, hearing rejection after rejection must've ruined his confidence as an actor, and i hope this award season proves to him that he's spectacular.
Absolutely! Until he spoke about it, I never realized what had happened to him. I remember seeing him, for the first time in ages, doing the online Goonies reunion in 2020. And he jumped out as such an amazing personality, as well as being super sweet, kind, funny, and genuine (and looking incredible too, I should add!). When you think about those two huge roles he had in 1984 - how much he LEAPED off of the screen. He was a young star in the making. To think of all of the roles and projects given to his young peers - If he wasn't Asian, I believe he would have had project after project offered to him. It's insane. I was so happy when I learned he was in this movie, when it was launching. And THEN... so happy and amazed when seeing his performance. What an incredible performance and, seemingly, and even greater person. ❤

After knowing more and more of the details behind the scene, I strongly believe there's divine influences. Having Michelle getting the role instead of Jacky, having a story started of as a crazy maximalist movie evolve to a touching story of family and kindness. Having the most fitting cast of Ke Huy Quan playing a soft kind husband and also a awesome strong fighter. Having the movie held back during the devastating pandemic, after the world has gone through the confusing and depressing time. The movie finally served to us as a reminder and encouragement - Please be kind to each other, especially in this confusing time.
How this movie evolve creatively and organically from conception to birth is a miracle!

My favorite activity of this past year is crying tears of happiness for this cast during their amazing interviews. It'll be so upsetting if none of them win at the oscars, but it won't matter- that won't invalidate the incredible heart that went into this project

Ke is a great and underrated actor.
He performs with so much vulnerability, and he has a very powerful presence on screen at the same time. I have no idea why he hasn't had much success until now.
Because Ke came of age before the notion of color blind casting and before Hollywood believed that Asian casts could be economically successful. He's been quite open in interviews and his award acceptance speeches about why he stopped acting & how watching Crazy Rich Asians led him to believe he could return to acting.
He also revealed that, even though he had several auditions after he filmed eeaao, it wasn't until after the film came out that he started booking jobs.
Ke has a really special, unique energy about him like Jack Black or Owen Wilson do & I hope his performance in eeaao inspires people to develop projects with him in mind like they do for JB & OW.

I like the idea that he could be one of those one-of-a-kind character actors who immediately puts their positive stamp on the film (like Owen, Jack Black). He's got the chops for sure.
Because almost no child actors ever successfully transition into adult careers. Usually because their cuteness as kids fades away and they don't look enough like supermodels to be cast in anything after that.

Oscars 2023 will go down in history as one of the best nights ever. After 2022 leaving such a bad taste, this is glorious.
I loved the movie and the passion of the cast and crew is PALPABLE. When people care about their craft and coworkers this strongly, you can truly feel it through their performance.
Jamie Lee Curtis is such a warm, humble, down to earth person who radiates positivity. Not only is she a beautiful person in and out, she has the good fortune to be married (for 39 years no less) to another who also is warm, humble, and positive but much more quiet. This awards season it has been great seeing her rejoice with her co stars but right there, quietly supporting her, has been Christopher Guest. She frequently reaches for his hand or just to touch him. That is a true soul mate and I love that she found that. Reportedly after the Oscars they went to the ball so she could get her name engraved on the statue, then they went home together instead of partying and he made her breakfast in the morning.
Honestly, I feel like very few times is the best picture so popular and accessible like this one is. I hope it wins, the correlation is perfect

3 years is nothing as Ke is still close to his Goonies buddies and that is nearly 40 years now.
The Oscars show had such a good vibe this year, and it had a lot to do with the underdogs and the second chances, and people who were truly grateful to be even nominated. Maybe it was the Academy trying to get the bad taste of last year's ceremony off it's mouth. There may have been nominees that put in better performances, but it was nice to see Jamie and Ke win. The voters did the right thing. The Academy brought a much needed feel-good and Hollywood-ending spirit to the show.
Jamie Lee Curtis is the ultimate example of how children of stars should be. Her start may have been because of her parents, but no one can say she hasn’t fought tooth and nail for her place as a star on her own name
I also teared up watching this. But also have emotions with the whole "Why have I not seen Ke acting for this long?" Ke was one of my childhood acting heroes on the screen. Heck, and while I completely recognize the talent of the cast, seeing Ke show up in front of a camera again was one of my biggest draws to make sure I HAD to see this movie. Again, not the only reason, but seeing him return was something I've waited so long...so long for. Keep going Ke. I've been a big fan of yours since the 80s.
It's times like this I wish I got into directing and was successful, because he'd be in my list of actors who would always have work. Ke is one of those who really made an impression on me, growing up.

When I first saw the trailer for this film, I knew immediately I need to watch this film in theaters when it's released last April. Then after I saw it, I immediately said this is my favorite film of 2022 and that I wouldn't be surprised if it wins best film of year at the Oscars. I'm still waiting for the latter to happen, but I have good feeling that it will.

This is not just acting, this is connecting at a human level! Personally, this movie should win the Best Movie Oscar, cause it is everything (no pun intended) all at once. Its drama, its comedy, its action, its romance, its sci phy, its about love and acceptance and its a compelling story we all can relate to. Then as a cherry on top you have this inspiring talented cast that leaned on each other for support and I cant helped but be moved by all of them and their long awaited journey to get nominated for their magnificent performances.
No other movie ever nominated has as much as this one gives and then some. Hands down the best movie and best acting and it deserves that recognition.
After hearing about scumbag after scumbag in Hollywood, it's so nice to see two genuine and authentic human beings getting their props. They certainly deserve it. Honestly, I didn't even recognize Jamie until I saw the credits! She totally embodied her character. First time I saw EEAAO, I knew it was an instant cult classic. And I enjoyed it just as much the second and third time.
I haven't been so obsessed with the 'behind the scenes' and award followups of a film-ever. I laughed and cried and saw a lot of myself and family like many others, but I grew up with Data and Short Round, and it infuriated me to find out the reason he disappeared. He was incredible, as was everyone who touched this film, starting with the Daniels. I think part of the reason this film has so deeply touched so many people, is the writing is genius of course, but the acting isn't just 'acting' It was 'real life' good, and damn that is rare. I heard/read one review say something like: "This movie will change the film industry forever" and I can see that in so many ways. People have enough stress to deal with, we don't need every drama to be depressing as hell. We are smart enough to follow subtitles in a blockbuster movie. We love funny movies that aren't just edgy or stupid. We don't need a $200 million dollar VFX team to go on an incredible multiverse ride. Give us a movie with a heart, and we will follow it anywhere.

The 3 Best Actors from this movie are all so genuine and likeable IRL. Most winners thank multiple people in their acceptance speeches but the true humility and generosity of spirit of Quan, Curtis and Yeoh really came thru in theirs.

I've always loved Jaime Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan and since I've seen the movie. I've been devouring every interview. Thank you for making me feel better. I'm going through a really awful time right now I have HIV and my body is changing and giving up on me. All of these actors including Stephanie and freaking Michaelle Yeoh. Thank you for making me shed tears of hope. I probably will never make it here but that's the beautiful thing about movies. I know that in other universes. I was unstoppable and I am healthy and happy. I'm just sorry I'm in this one. Thank you. I'm at peace with it.

It's so hard to imagine Ke being insecure after seeing him in the movie, but hearing of his pain and struggle, I get it.
Having grown up loving Indiana Jones and the Goonies, I am SO STOKED that Ke is getting another chance to pursue his dream and beyond the moon that he's succeeding and is getting so much recognition and love.
