I bought a gt aggressor just to have fun, but ended up looking up videos for upgrades and found this, and now I have gone crazy upgrading the gt and going head to head with my friends in their nomads and enduros!!! keep it up
I have a 2016 GT Aggressor and just picked up a 2005 GT Aggressor for my son. Was looking for some budget upgrades and found your videos. I am going to do several of your upgrades. Hydro brakes, 1 x 10 gears are first ones. Thanks for your videos and love the interaction with you and your dad. Reminds me of my dad.
Hey brother this is Jeremiah the son, and appreciate the comments first of all and secondly, Im very sorry if you and your dads relationship is a similar one to mine and my dads!!!!😂😂😂 Hope you keep commenting and congratulations on the buys man, you will have a great time with the upgrades and be careful for that upgrade bug! Later man thanks for the views and GOOD LUCK!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOSJeremiah if you flush the lubracicate out of your free hub that's how guys are getting that crazy loud free hub sound,it wares out quicker,I've done it on a freewheel but not on a free hub
Glad I found this. I have a GT and am up-gunning it a little. When I saw you have the same bike, I thought.....it's a sign!! I'm going for it! Like you, I never get out of the middle drive sprocket....so I figure, why haul all the weight around. Really like how you go about this upgrade. I just ordered a new front fork too...and can't wait till that arrives. Thanks for the video. R
Man Randy you sound like our kind people! LOL Thanks for watching and if you are interested we have upgrades updates every now and then and also have a few of the out were we break down the upgrades and talk about changes made thus far. But thank you for finding us and this FRIDAY we are attempting TUBELESS!!! SEE YOU THEN BROTHER-welcome to the #wolfticknation
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS WOW! What a fast response!! Even before you suggested it, I took a look at your other videos...and I'm darned glad I did. I noted your review of the LUTU....and that's the exact fork I ordered. Woo Hooo!!! ....and I may just be your kinda people. I already ordered new Clark discs, Shimano hydry-brakes, a 1-by crankset.......and I repurposed my old Shimano cassette and shifters from my first bike...a Cannondale. I have fat tires too......and noticed they rub on occasion. My fix is to deflate...reset the bead...and inflate. Fixes the problem. Keep up the great work...and I'll keep watching. R
3:28 the placement of the chainring on inside or outside will depend on how the chain line is on the crank, it might change with other hub, cranks, or size of square taper BB some have wide axles, some have narrow axles. Make it so it is as straight as possible in the mid cog on the cassette and still works great without making noises on the in the lowest gear and the highest gear.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS the great thing about direct mount crank is you buy chainring that has a offset instead, I have 142 hubs converted to 148 boost, so casette placement is the same, so I use regural offset, but if I had boost hub I would have used boost chainring
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS here is the review of the bashguide wp.me/p60aTF-2wH I also have many other reviews of other stuff, and I have few others in the works.
Actually have a 2018 agressor and it's awesome to see you upgrade the bike. It's pretty legit with geometry. I'm surprised you could stuff a 2.8 Tire in the frame. Keep it up brother.
Awesome videos I just ordered a GT Men's Aggressor Pro. I'm stoked to start riding and doing minor upgrades to it until i become more familiar with mountain biking to eventually upgrade to something more serious.
Thank you so much man! And there no problem with that infact that way of thinking is so much smarter than just buying a bad a*s bike and trashing it and yourself. Very smart, but let us know what we can help you with as far as questions go on the bike. Thanks again and hope you like and subbbbbb!
No it does not. The reason is because you cannot take apart the chainrings and simply buy a spacer. Unfortunetly GT welds them all together to make it look like you can:( Maybe go for the IXF 1x?You can keep the same cassette and derailleur. Checkout the description link in the IXF crankset video.
Well get this i just rode it today and i think i gotta put it on the outside like you. The chain fell off and got wedged in between the seat post tube and the chainring!!! Its all good though, thanks for commenting on that! Later bud
WOLFTICK VIDEOS I haven’t got it going yet. I got a SRAM X4 Deraileur and installed it but the cables weren’t long enough. So it is in the shop, waiting for them to install the new cable and cable housings.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Just got it running. The chain fell off once when not moving and when at idle. Seems like if you pedal back in a low gear it doesn't like it. Chain slap is a issue too. It misses cogs on some rough sections. I had to use a Acera cuz i didn't have Sram shifters. But the bike rides awesome. Just needs a shorter stem and maybe some wider bars.
definitely post an update about if the single chain ring helps keep the chain on with some rough riding. I'm dealing with that now on my GT aggressor and am starting to consider some options on how to move forward
Will do man im hoping to ride this weekend and get some footage. I might have to shorten the chain but ill see. Thanks for watching hope you liked and subbed!!!
Thanks for the upgrade vid. Nice to see we have some option for the GT Aggressor. I'm considering the Suntour XCR Air LO-R. I may go 1x as well. Please do a follow up. Can you post some links for the upgrades. I in joy you videos man. Keep it up.
That would work a lot of the time, we pretty much try to go with best chain alignment(if the chain stay allows of course). What's your views on spacers? Do you believe in a universal spacer configuration, or are you a case by case guy on that one? Thanks man👍
30 to 34t chainring should be on the inside mimicking the position and chainline of the 3x. I'm interested im not yet convinced on an oval seems to be all science talk with peeps saying it makes a world a difference and another bunch saying it doesn't feel different.
Man honestly....it makes a big difference at first till you get used to it, not that it does not work anymore but it just becomes a natural feel. But the torque it provides is a nice thing to have in those awkward sketchy climbs.
Wish you would have recorded removing the old set. I am having the hardest time getting them off with the tool. About to pull a You and get the mallet.
NO!!! HA HA the only thing I can tell you is make sure your threads are in all the way when threading into the crankarms. I hit the end with a hammer and screw into the crankarms. Good luck and keep that mallet close!! Ha ha thanks man, let us know!!
Hey, just a heads up. The link for the crank set doesn’t work and the oval chain ring link actually takes you to a round 30 tooth chain ring. Also, I love your videos. Look forward to more! Been wanting to do some upgrades to the GT and you videos have been helpful 👍.
2:29 if the axle was fine, you could have just got new bearings, that BB looks like it's a easy to service BB, just take bearings out and put in new. but square taper is heavy, and usually it eats the alloy cranks so they get loose. now hallow alloy axles, and external cup BB are the latest tech.
4:42 it won't stop chain drops even with narrow wide chainring, you need a chain guide, I recommend to get a bash guide, so it's a bash guard and chain guide in one. I use Absolute black, it has guide from 77designz. I have a review on it on my website. on rough terrain the chain will drop, even with a rear derailleur with a clutch it will drop, for example on stairs, of course the gear you have it in, the chagrining size, all play a role, but with 34T and chain in a low gear chain will drop on regular stairs angle, but on steep stairs it will definitely drop. I tested it with 42 T cassette and had it in 27t cog.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS it is a must it reduces slap greatly I have Box One xwide it has adjustable clutch, and can be completely taken apart, you can swap bushings, you can't do that with Shimano, but don't buy Box Two it does not have adjustable clutch. In theory I can use hat rear derailleur for decades if replacing the bushings which is cheap, so no need for new rear derailleur ofter certain time, just have a stock of bushings. 😊 As for budget cassette sunrace comes to mind. I got one secondhand. 😉
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I am not sure which video you refer to, I have a review, but I have a video demonstratin showing how to make a chain fall of any chainguide by doing a stupid thing, forcing bike out of a tree stump 😁but unless doing thst the absolute black works great.
When you took the front derailleur off did you have to break apart the chain to remove it? Mine seems like you would have to break the chain to get the derailleur assembly off.
Hey Keith if you have a drill or dremel tool, you can easily grind or drill out the rivet that connects the two pieces of metal on the front derailleur. No need to break the chain unless you want to shorten it.
Ha Ha yeah man just like that! Creativity at its finest, But checkout my MTB stand I got sponsored!!! Its a good budget stand for sure man. Thanks alot Kier! I just ordered a cassette a sram 8 speed, and some tools. Its funny i have been looking into derailleurs as well. I def will upgrade soon. Got a new set of pedals and more goodies looking to shoot another bike vid soon as well as some pov, thanks for the views MATE!!!
So the back in this video has the stock 8 and you just changed the front to a single? I'm considering just removing my front derailleur for now and seeing how that is lol.
Yes just changed the front out, for sure man get rid of it and maybe a bucklos crankset for a fast and cheap 1X?? Remember to size that chain LOL we also have a video for that:) GOOD LUCK and heres an affiliate link;) it will bolt right up,amzn.to/3h4a9L4

Jeremiah can you post the part number for the NECO BC? The link shows the item not available now. I really need to grab this kit you did for the bike. Much appreciated. UPDATE: I found out which side you are supposed to put the gearing on. If you use a 30 tooth it goes on the inside of the flange, if you use a 32/34 tooth it goes on the outside of the flange. Why and the heck they dont include that in the instructions I have no idea.

Can you post what you’ll need to remove the stock crank, and bottom hub, and shifting mech, before getting to installing the new components? Thanks a bunch. Love your vids
Hey man hopefully these links help. Now the front derailleur can be removed one of two ways. #1 you can buy a chainbreaker tool and break the chain and remove the derailleur and buy a chain quick connect to mend it. #2 you can take a drill and drill out the back of the rivet on the derailleur. You may wanna break the chain and go ahead and shorten it because you will have to anyways due to the chain being a tad bit too long. Dont have to break the chain right away but its a good just in caser. You can still ride with just drilling the rivet out and removing the front derilleur. Hey man thanks, now there is not a video on how I remove the front derailleur but there is a video on me removing the same style on a Nishiki mens pueblo?? Thats the Nishiki Mans Pueblo 1X conversion video, check it out.
Hey brother, I get that alot but...The chainrings on the GT are all welded together making it look like they are rivets. So I guess you could grind every spot weld but that wouldent make any sense time wiseLOL
Thats another good option for an upgrade, a little pricy as far as budget goes but will have to spend more money over time for sure.:) thank sfor all your input man.
New sub here from the not so sunny South Wales, UK. Currently looking for a budget MTB and have had my eye on the GT Aggressor Expert 2020. Not sure how that matches up with your model but any recommendations would be welcome, and hopefully make me bite the bullet haha. Liking the videos man. Keep up the good work.
Well first of all "Im chuffed to bits"lol that someone from the UK has not only watched but also has subbed!!! Thanks alot man. So ive researched the Expert and it looks like its very very similar to my Medium frame 27.5. Now secondly the bike looks to only offer a 29 inch rim from size M up . Meaning wheels/tires and Forks may be a little more pricy since they will be bigger but...Other than that dude go for it everything ive got on mine will transfer over to yours im sure! barring the front forks of course depending on the size you go with but please let me know what you endup doing!! Thanks again for subbing and commenting! Keep on watching brother
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS thanks for coming back to me man. "Chuffed to bits" haha! Looking at the sizing they run up quite bit and according to their site, they actually recommend a small size for me at 5ft7. I don't mind that with the smaller wheels and more flexibility to move the seat up and down for uphill and downhill. The weather is rough at the moment and kind of uninspiring to pull the trigger on a bike but I think I will soon, even if the mrs is a bit sceptic haha. Keep doing what you're doing mate 👊
Cool dude and im 5'4" to 5'5" on a good day, hmmmm a small? seems a litthe small for you i would get a M for sure man. definetely size it up if you can, stand over the bar that goes from the seatpost to the handlebars. If your feet are on the ground and your "junk" is comfortable then your good to go MATE!!! Peace
How did you remove the old crank arms? Did you use a tool? I personally don’t want to buy a tool and only use it once because I’m getting the IXF crankset.
Hey man i agree with you on that! Checkout my ixf crank vid for sure if you havent already. But I flipped my bike over and used a mallet to beat the hell out of the crank arms while rotating them constantly. It takes a while and will not want to break at first but just keep on keepin on. Then for the bottom bracket I used a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to unscrew the flush side. Then used a monkey wrench or pipe wrench to unscrew the other side. Hope this helped you out man and hope you subbed dude!
4:26 that is not what the bottle cage mount is for.😀 I recommend to use a proper repair stand and clamp gently to the top tube, not too hard, cus some bikes have thin tubing there and some carbon bikes can snap. with a proper repair stand you can adjsut it to any angle and keep bike frame secure no matter the angle, and it won't move. I use Park Tool PRS 3.2-2
Hello my name is eddie and I have the gt aggressor pro and all the time the I peddle on the bike there is a ugly sound comeing from the peddles I am getting tired of the sound and what do I need to do to make the sound go way and my Derailleur hanger keeps on braking off and my chain keeps on jumping I don't know what else to do can you help me thank you
Sounds like your Bottom Bracket is wore out and needs fixing/new sealed cartridge. Either that or you may have a worn out crankarm, that will not keep the chain aligned and may be the reasoning for your broken derailleur hangers?? Especially if you are running the original setup
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS oh k thank you for letting me know everything about the bike and what else do I got to do with the bike and. What was wrong with it and thank you for ur help
Yes if you are going to order the fmfxtr crankarms. It will fit right up after you remove the old crankarms. You have to remove them, cannot unbolt the chainrings and install 1 chainring.
Hey bud, great videos , i have been watching it to see what upgrades i can do on my gt . Are you using the same chain that the bike came with ? This is going to be my first upgrade. Thanks and good vibes

I just did the lutu and 1x8 hydros and have the chain likes to go down a gear in low gear if pedal backwards rides good tho wondering if you have same mines a 2021 aggressor
Hi Wolftick, I hope you are having a wonderful evening, I've got an issue with my set up. I recently did the 1x8 conversion (cassette is 11-40t) but when I pedal backwards or apply some pressure I have jumps, specially on the 40t cog. I was reading the comments below and you mentioned that placing the front chain ring on the inside of the spider might help, did I get that right? It's really annoying because I can't get it to work. Everything is new btw.
Hey Nestor, now it may be a few things man. First of all is your derailleur dialed in and tuned correctly? It does sound like a tuning issure. Now when it comes to alignment I can say on my GT I have the chainring mounted on the inside of the spider yes.It helps with alignment and makes for an easier shift. Do you have an IXF or just the same crankarm setup? Thanks man and hope this helps.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Hi, thanks for your reply. Last night after I commented, decided to change the chainring to the inside and it helped a lot. Let's say I only get chain slips 2/10 when it was 7/10. I appreciate your quick response. Love your videos and keep the good work.
Not at this point. You will need to shorten the chain though, I think 4 or 5 links if I remember correctly. You will need a chain breaker, and a master link set as well. When you get it dialed in you will have less drops and slap, although you will still have some. Good luck, and let us know if you have anymore questions, or just how it goes. Thanks
@wolftick So this may be a dumb question but did you replace the wheel set before replacing the crank set? I just installed your recommended single crank set and it’s making weird noises... I removed four links in the chain doesn’t seem loose at all but it seems like it’s being torqued in different directions.
Hey brother same wheelset and did not change it. The crankset most likely is not aligned. You will get that sometimes and no a dumb question. You may have to mount the chainring on the inside of the spider, that way it will align better:) Good luck and let us know man

Well man let me tell ya, please watch the microshift acolyte groupset install and REVIEW! If you can get it it is a steal man. This video is a little older but still good, but...you wanna see something that will climb anything? Please checkout the vid! And let us know if you need any affiliate links!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS hey bro. Okay I saw the acolyte review video. Awesome great job thank you so much for taking your time and sharing your knowledge with us. So does the 8speed acolyte, does it matter on how many teeth are on your chainring. What’s better more or less. Because I was thinking of going with the 34t oval just because i think that’s better. But my questions is…. Is it better to have more or less teeth on your chainring?
Chainring- I like less, that is better for top end speed. I run an oval 30T and it seems to climb well and the speed is there. If you do a lot of climbing I would go with a 32 or 34. Now the Acolyte works with a 1X and the cassette it comes with is a 12-46 Tooth so that is all the climbing gear you need!

If I just get the chain ring and crank arms and keep the stock bottom bracket, will all that go together ok? And also I have 2.3” tires. Does the chain ever rub on your tires when you’re up on the bigger cassette gears closest to the tire??
It will be fine because they are both tapered bb's but you might as well change it if you are down there anyways but dont have to. Now I have heard of people saying there chains rub tires with the 3 chainrings up front. not with one. So I would just try it...Or go with an IXF have you watched that video?
We also put a 1X on the Pueblo. Can't remember how good the video is but we do put the square tapered crankset on it. Here is the link to that. th-cam.com/video/I8-ImcSnESg/w-d-xo.html
Hey man I flipped the bike over and used a hammer and malet to beat the arms while i rotated them. Then i used a screwdriver to undo one part of the bottom bracket and a monkey wrench for the bigger ring. Hope this helps you, I got kinda mid evil with it!
I know this is an old video but I went with Bucklos on my Gt, were you running the original rear derailleur and chain? If not what we’re you running that work correctly. With the original derailleur and chain it won’t shift into the first gear it just binds up on the gear.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I did not, that would be my problem most likely. Thanks for the quick reply! I freaking love your videos. I bought a Gt a month ago and kept see don’t upgrade buy a better bike till I found your videos. Your a man after my own heart, I’m one for upgrading I’ve buying biggest and best right off the bat.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I actually did watch that video and shortened the chains so thanks so much. Currently dialing in the derailleur. I did order a new chain, microshift advent derailleur with shifter and 9 speed cassette. Will be here in a few weeks so I figured I’d get out and try this set up tomorrow on Bootleggers Trail. Keep up the videos dude!
I have a gt agressor pro and I just wanted to know if all you needed was the cranks and the chainring that you put in the description to make it work, or would I need to also buy a bottom bracket?
Well if you use the crank arms in the video, then you will not need a new bottom bracket. I just changed mine because i was down there and felt it could use a new better one. Good luck an dplease get a crank puller!!!:)
You can order the oval chainring, but you have to have a new crank set as well, because the factory crank set the GT comes with is riveted together. But you can keep the bottom bracket the aggressor comes with it will work. Hope that helps you out man and if you got any other questions holler! Hope you liked and subscribed thanks for watching.
Hey Tick! I want to go to a 1x9 set up Is this video where you regret the 34 oval? I cannot remember where you said this...Should I do 32 oval instead? Thanks in advance!
Hey brother, the 34 just was not great in the cimbing areas. I would say a 32 and a 30 are great, also an oval is wonderfully torquey! Not too expensive when it comes to the 32 as well:)
Yeah brother, the chanrings are welded together, it looks like rivets but you will need the cranks yes. Also may look at a crankpuller:) heres an affiliateebay.us/rhy2sV
Hey Eric, while the bike was upside down I absolutely beat the sh*t out of the arms with a mallet while i slowly rotated them. And let me tell you something Eric, I just about gave up but just proceeded to beat harder! Then they came off, wheeeeew! Hope this helps man and if not you can order a crank puller tool!:)
Do you have any updates on this chain ring? I'm looking for one, and don't doubt it functions as a chain ring but I'm wondering how well it's held up? I might consider buying it. Thanks!
Man it is a nice alternative. I am still running it on a different build but it has started me on this oval only kick!! Thanks for watching and hope you checkout the IXF crankset video??? You may like it as well, thanks Hunter
Why did you decide to stay with a cartridge bearing set? You could have switched to integrated with external bearings with nearly the exact same process. I’m just curious if there was a reason you went the way you did?
One reason was I knew why it looked like by taking off the triple tree chainring. Not much experience at the time and it was the cheapest route👍 checkout the ixf install, much better and lighter!!
Well you have to swap out the arms as well, you may want to checkout the IXF crankset video? It also has the link. The problem with the original crank arms is the chainrings are all welded together to the arms so you cannot separate them.
When you change to 1x8 (with original cassette from the GT), did you find it good enough on climbing or going uphill? Thanks so much! And I appreciate your videos
Well thank you for taking time to watch and comment man, now the climbing wasnt terrible with he original cassette. I feel it was descent, but now after changing to a 10spd 11-42 tooth...WOW!!!! The difference is night and day ha ha. Hope that helps! But yes the 8spd was not bad at all my brother.
You may mean 68-73mm? I dont think a 63 is a thing ha ha maybe it is? But anyways yes it is the correct size you will need. Some people add a spacer on the drive side (which most BB's come with) and use it for proper chain alignment, but the GT is a 68-73mm. Checkout the IXF crankset video, there is a link there for the proper size. Checkout the link an im pretty sure you can order just a hollow bb. Thanks man hope this helps!!!
Hey man, I didn't have the proper tools so I flipped the bike upside down and beat the hell out of the arms with a mallet! Lol rotating every so often. It took a while but they came off. Hope it helps
Man I'm not sure if I took out links in that video, but I did take 4 links out then added the Master/Quick link. I think after I got it all adjusted I only had one or two chain drops on hard trails and it reduced chain slap drastically. In the future you will want to upgrade to a clutch derailleur, but this is a hold over. If you have the time you can look through our videos and watch our progression on the drive train. Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Wolftick, I have done the 1x10 conversion but needing more granny gears. I am thinking about going up to an 11 speed with 11-50 tooth in the back. Do you think an 11 speed cassette will fit on our stock GT rear hub? Thanks in advance for your help! Great videos man, keep pumping them out! Wolftick Nation out. I also bought a coffee for you under what_da 671. Enjoy!
Hey kurt! Just saw the coffee brother so thank you for that and we will respond and ask for your info so we can send you a STICKER!! That's very nice of you man. Now regarding the 11spd, two guys I know of have fit an 11spd bit that is the max according to them. So it will work, but what about a bigger cassette for your 10spd? That and a derailleur extender, that may be cheaper? But if you wanna just try out the 11spd I completely understand!lol hopefully it goes well and you give us an update👍👍 thanks for the coffee again man💙
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS you're welcome! I currently have an 11-42 cassette on my 1x10 but I am so out of shape, I scream for the bigger gears. I am waiting for an 11-50 cassette but no luck yet. I'll keep searching...
8spd but cut it down and measured it. You can find our chain sizing video on the GT. I believe we size it for an 8spd, but the method works for 8,9 and 10.
Not with the original GT drivetrain my friend. GT welded the chainrings together making it look like they are riveted. They arent, I was going to try and do what you are thinking but, no bueno. Thanks for watching and the question, wish you could do that. Hope you subbed man! Gotta break that 1000 wall and you support would help, thanks again brother:)
Hey there. i am recently broke my derailleur and i would like to upgrade for something little bit better. what do you recommend ? Thank so much your videos are helping me a lot.
Well if it is your derailleur, I just bought a shimano deore xt shadow. Now it has a clutch to help with chain drops and runs about $49.00. Pretty good price and would love to tell you how it performs but I have not installed it yet. Still waiting on SHIPPING!!!LOL thanks for watching and look into that derailleur bud. Video should be a good one so if you have subscribed turn them notifications on so you can stay in the loop!!!:)
Man you should be strait! As long as you got the set that comes with the hollow bottom bracket(set). And im glad you got the oval its GREAT. Good luck man and make sure you keep that chain aligned with the centerish area of your cassette. If its not lining up good just add a spacer the kit comes with;)
WOLFTICK VIDEOS thanks a lot brotha!! I tried adding all the components from your links to make it a 1x10 but some are not available no more like the derailer and shifter.. would it matter other or what size should I look for?
Well man that was a can of worms for us but i erge you to just run the 8spd for now! :) Get to know your 1X drivetrain that way you can just stick with your shifter/chain/and derailleur for now. Then upgrade to a 10spd cassette and go from there. That would be the best way to go about it brother. Let us know and remember if you listen and stick with the 8 spd for now you will have to resize your chain to help out in the chain slap area;) way cheaper route
I just got a used aggressor and it got beat to Shit, whoever had it before me destroyed it and one of the main things I’ve wanted to do is change the crank set. It’s so messy looking and it sounds like garbage and I don’t feel like I need three, the 1x11 ratio seems so much better to me... and the breaks are super loud.. let me know how easy it is to ride with that crank set, I’m looking into getting that EXACT one
1x8* but now I’m considering a 2x8. Please just let me know hahahaha I’m super curious, I want to upgrade the shit out of this thing, I need to look at affordable shocks as well
Hey man the crank set is amazing! Cant say enough about it its so easy up climbs with the oval shape. The downside is while jumping the chain has a tendency to fall off, i think i will shorten it and get a chain stay. But its awesome that you're gonna try and bring her back to life. Oh and for the breaks i had the same problem so i got some 1000 grit sand paper and sanded the rotors. Nice and quiet now. Thanks for watching and hope you liked and subbed. Make sure you turn your notifications on man i got an update video coming out soon as well as a break BUDGET vid!!!
WOLFTICK VIDEOS sick dude, thanks for the reply and that’s super helpful. I can’t wait to see more videos of what you do with this thing! Subscribed and notifications are on!
Great video! I have a question for anyone with the bike. I had this bike for maybe 2 months now. Every time I pedal I hear/feel a creak and it’s rather annoying. I see the bearing in the video was loose you mentioned. Did you happen to have a similar problem? I’m thinking of just converting it to a 1x instead of 3x. Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you
Thanks brother, thank you for watching, now it may be your BB so a possible 1X swap should fix it:) Just use plenty of grease and shorten that chain! (we got a video on that) lol My BB was not creaky but I have heard a few guys talking about the same issue. Here i an affiliate link and hope it solves your issue brother:) IXF-ebay.us/bunaB5
Did the bottom bracket make a big difference, I got the aggressor comp and the crank sucks, there's alot of flex in it, feels like it could snap if I went up a hill. Looking to upgrade
The tapered BB your talking about is/was very strong! Big difference when it came to climbing for sure. Now have you watched my new IXF Crankset video? I would recommend that when you can get the chance to get one and upgrade!!! Thanks for the question man, the bb i got in this video is still good but the fmfxtr crankset is not:( Watch the failure video at MT Nebo.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS yeah I saw both videos, thanks for making those btw. Been so frustrated with this bike so far, just feels so cheap. Gonna upgrade the BB for sure. Thnx man! Sick of spending money on this to get it up to par.
Hey Nicolas I flipped the bike over and took a hammer to the backside of the arms! Then I took a flathead screwdriver to the bottom bracket keeper then a pipe wrench to finish em off. But they do sell tools to properly remove the arms.
With a big ass flat head screwdriver and a monkey wrench!!! I got a lot of crap for it but hey, its what i had. As for the crank arms i used a 2x4 and a sledge hammer. Thanks for watching hope you subbed!!! Oh and i hit the big ass flat head with a hammer :).
Well man i work off of a chromebook and it wont let me! lol if you can just type in the names on amazon there easy to find if you have any detailed questions about it when it comes to you buying just let me know.
On the drive chain side. Did you have any trouble getting the bracket 32tooth bracket mount off? I can’t seem to get it off. I got the non drive chain side off. If looking directly at the bracket bike standing does it loosen clockwise or counter clockwise
I believe its counter clockwise man? Off the top of my head atleast, but not in the shop right now.If you are talking about the bottom bracket keepers on the drive side that is.Try left
Man honestly i got a big ass hammer and a flathead screwdriver! Flipped the bike upside down and went lefty loosey. The hard part was actually getting the crank arms off, had to mallet those bad boys! Thanks for watching and hope you subbed! If you got anymore questions holler.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS please use proper tools for the job, to avoid injury or damage to the bike. what you need for the job is crank puller, but modern cranks are self extracting, so you don't need it. like my Race face Atlas cranks
Awesome I have the same bike want to make it better definitely check out Forlk video! Was looking at rock shox for the front end. What are good rims with loud hud?
Cool man its gonna be good for sure, and as far as the loud hub goes, i couldent tell you man! I wanted one like your saying but do you think you and I can really be in the woods with a loud a** zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz in your ear all day?!!LOL
Well Jeremiah we are not all that great when it comes to computers but just type in the names i have posted on the videos and you wont have a problem finding them at all! Good luck and thanks for watching, oh and love the name LOL
I bought a gt aggressor just to have fun, but ended up looking up videos for upgrades and found this, and now I have gone crazy upgrading the gt and going head to head with my friends in their nomads and enduros!!! keep it up
You too brother, so happy you decided to go with the GT!
I love my gt
1x is so much cleaner. Love watching these old videos when you guys started. Awesome job dudes!
It really is brother, thank you for going back in time!!
I wanted to change my front gear to a single speed up front I thank you for showing that

Your rear hub sounds so nice... i could hear that all day
Thank you. I really want one that clicks so loud everyone on the trail can hear it!!! Hope you keep watching man.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS what hub is that im looking to upgrade from stock
@Kyle Edwards-Man you and ast50!!!! Its stock brother:)
You can change volume level on your freewheel.I soppose you could do it on a free hub as well.

Man sounds like you got it under control!! :) Thanks a bunch man, we are sure to get to everyone every night.
Thanks man i have made sure that its quiet! Luckily i didnt have to unscrew anything;)
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS so then it's at the correct placement for your setup, with some combos, you need spacers.

Awesome I’ve been waiting on this video and information

Awesome videos I just ordered a GT Men's Aggressor Pro. I'm stoked to start riding and doing minor upgrades to it until i become more familiar with mountain biking to eventually upgrade to something more serious.
Thank you so much man! And there no problem with that infact that way of thinking is so much smarter than just buying a bad a*s bike and trashing it and yourself. Very smart, but let us know what we can help you with as far as questions go on the bike. Thanks again and hope you like and subbbbbb!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS does the stock crankset work with the aftermarket chainring?
No it does not. The reason is because you cannot take apart the chainrings and simply buy a spacer. Unfortunetly GT welds them all together to make it look like you can:( Maybe go for the IXF 1x?You can keep the same cassette and derailleur. Checkout the description link in the IXF crankset video.
Oh yuup 1x is the way to go. Almost finished with mine. Tomorrow is the day!
Idk about the chain ring location, I have mine on the outside. Hope it’s ok.
Well get this i just rode it today and i think i gotta put it on the outside like you. The chain fell off and got wedged in between the seat post tube and the chainring!!! Its all good though, thanks for commenting on that! Later bud
Well man how did the ride go? Everything stay put?
Awesome video sir! Just did mine thanks to you!
Awesome! We are happy that you found us. We hope that you stick around a while.👍

For sure man, the ixf afterwards has held up wonderfully! Putting them on all the builds! Thanks dude
That 34 oval is gonna be awesome!
Dude you are RIGHT love it!!!
definitely post an update about if the single chain ring helps keep the chain on with some rough riding.
Keep it up.
I got a follow up coming soon man thanks for commenting sorry it took so long to get back to ya!
30T goes on the inside flange & 32-34T goes on the outside flange (towards the pedal)

Hey thanks Alex! We need to update some of these older vids I guess. We will try to get this done here shortly. Thanks again👍
Alright Alex I think we got it fixed up. Thanks again man.
I have a 2x11 38 oval and 28 oval
I leave it inthe 38 almost all the time
34 oval on a newer 1x9 cassette would be my ideal set up
Hmmmm... I got a 32 oval coming in soon, that with my 34t cassette I think will be a great match. Gotta love that OVAL!:)
Hmmm.ok
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS of course you might need specific tools, but might only need a screw driver or some bearing press tools, and hammer it out.
Yeah bro.
Well ill checkout the vid for sure. I am thinking of a clutch style derailleur.
3:59 sounds like something is wrong with thee hub on the rear wheel, might be freehub play, freehub mechanism that is about to fail, or worn bearings.
Well just got a new rear rim that came with a new hub!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS with spokes too? Is it a wheel? If so which?

4:26 that is not what the bottle cage mount is for.😀
I recommend to use a proper repair stand and clamp gently to the top tube, not too hard, cus some bikes have thin tubing there and some carbon bikes can snap.
with a proper repair stand you can adjsut it to any angle and keep bike frame secure no matter the angle, and it won't move.
I use Park Tool PRS 3.2-2
Alright! Ive been looking at some budget ones for sure.
Park tool just means it’s blue and over priced 😉

Will the stock bottom bracket work with that crank arms?
Yes sir:)
I’m guessing all this would work on 2021 also?
Yes if you are going to order the fmfxtr crankarms. It will fit right up after you remove the old crankarms. You have to remove them, cannot unbolt the chainrings and install 1 chainring.
Hey bud, great videos , i have been watching it to see what upgrades i can do on my gt . Are you using the same chain that the bike came with ? This is going to be my first upgrade. Thanks and good vibes
Hey Carlos, for that particular build I used the same chain, I actually shortened it and bought a master link after the 1X conversion. If you watch the Fragment stage 1 Upgrades video it shows a how to (sort of) shorten and measure a chain for the 1X setup. Thanks for watching and please feel free to hit us up for any questions you got on it brother:) Been there!!

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS 1 more question..how many links did you take out of the chain?
You will need a chain breaker, a master link/quick connect, and I took out 4 links. Hope this helps.
Just to make sure the smallest chainring has a 104mm BCD right. I'm gonna do a 1x conversion and can't find the BCD anywhere

does the oval gear give you a higher top speed that you would see on a 36t?
Not much in the higher speeds, atleast I would not think so. It really helps in the torque climbing areas though.

34T for top end speed and 32T for torque

For sure man ive got some seat time here recently and am waiting to film it, should be out soon! As will a pov trail vid in Hot Springs, AR, thank you for watching and commenting!!!
Is there any problem on the chain or it works just fine?
It works just fine, just plenty of tuning!!
Did you use any spacers?
At first no, then got some hate so added one on the drive side...Then it was terrible as far as alignment went, now no spacers:)
I just did the lutu and 1x8 hydros and have the chain likes to go down a gear in low gear if pedal backwards rides good tho wondering if you have same mines a 2021 aggressor
Ive got the 2019' I believe it is. Did you shorten your chain??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS no not yet running the 34 tooth oval normal pedaling is fine seems like chain angle is off
Maybe look at mounting the chainring on the inside of the spider??
Thanks brother, glad you got it going better:)
do you get a different chain as well?
Not at this point. You will need to shorten the chain though, I think 4 or 5 links if I remember correctly. You will need a chain breaker, and a master link set as well. When you get it dialed in you will have less drops and slap, although you will still have some. Good luck, and let us know if you have anymore questions, or just how it goes. Thanks
Just ordered the Bucklos crank for mine. Did you have any problems with the chain coming loose while riding? Also did you have to take any links out?
Yes sir, I sized the chain the Wolftick way. We do have a video on it, please watch. Good luck man 👍
Love the update videos also riding the aggressor. Do u know if them arm will fit on the stock BB
Yes they will, i just changed it cause i was down there . But i did check! thanks for watching man.

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS yes sir. I sure like the links if you don’t mine.

Awesome thanks. I’ll check out the vid.
We also put a 1X on the Pueblo. Can't remember how good the video is but we do put the square tapered crankset on it. Here is the link to that. th-cam.com/video/I8-ImcSnESg/w-d-xo.html
How did you pull the crank arms off and remove te old bottom bracket?
Hey man I flipped the bike over and used a hammer and malet to beat the arms while i rotated them. Then i used a screwdriver to undo one part of the bottom bracket and a monkey wrench for the bigger ring. Hope this helps you, I got kinda mid evil with it!
I know this is an old video but I went with Bucklos on my Gt, were you running the original rear derailleur and chain? If not what we’re you running that work correctly. With the original derailleur and chain it won’t shift into the first gear it just binds up on the gear.
Yeah brother same chain and derailleur, did you shorten your chain?

Awesome man! Will do brother:)
Are you able to use that oval crank ring with the factory aggressor pedal set and bottom bracket?

No sir, but shortening the chain is a must depending on what size chainring you are gonna run. Checkout our chain shortening and resizing video. 👍
Hey man how did you get the crank arms off after you took the bolt out?
Hey Eric, while the bike was upside down I absolutely beat the sh*t out of the arms with a mallet while i slowly rotated them.
Do u have to swap out the arms as well or can u use the stock arms with the oval chain ring?
Well you have to swap out the arms as well, you may want to checkout the IXF crankset video? It also has the link. The problem with the original crank arms is the chainrings are all welded together to the arms so you cannot separate them.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS ahhh ok.. thanks
No problem man and good luck!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS another side question...would a hollow bottom bracket that's for 63-73mm fit in the GT Aggressor Pro?
You may mean 68-73mm? I dont think a 63 is a thing ha ha maybe it is? But anyways yes it is the correct size you will need. Some people add a spacer on the drive side (which most BB's come with) and use it for proper chain alignment, but the GT is a 68-73mm. Checkout the IXF crankset video, there is a link there for the proper size. Checkout the link an im pretty sure you can order just a hollow bb. Thanks man hope this helps!!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS It does...I'm super stoked on this upgrade...does it cut much weight to take off all that stuff to go 1x?
Dude it cuts like 3.5 lbs!!! And just simplifies everything no shifter and no front derailleur. Very nice upgrade
Do I have to change the chain?
No brother, just shorten it.....We have a video on that:)
I have the same bike, did u have to use a crank puller to get the old cranks off, or how did u do it?
Hey man, I didn't have the proper tools so I flipped the bike upside down and beat the hell out of the arms with a mallet! Lol rotating every so often. It took a while but they came off. Hope it helps
Have a question love the video on this video did you take out links if so how many bc I’m upgrading
What size chain did you use after the conversion?
8spd but cut it down and measured it. You can find our chain sizing video on the GT. I believe we size it for an 8spd, but the method works for 8,9 and 10.
Is it possible to buy only a chainring and do the 1x conversion
Not with the original GT drivetrain my friend. GT welded the chainrings together making it look like they are riveted. They arent, I was going to try and do what you are thinking but, no bueno.
