I am fairly certain that the SRAM NX cassette fits on standard Shimano HG hubs, which is what all the regular 8 speed hubs are, but then again, that is much more expensive than Microshift.
Awesome video. Where can I find those acolyte derailleur? Its sold out everywhere as I've been searching for the last month and some change. Keep the vids coming. Congrats on 8k subs.

quick question... do you have to purchase a rear derailleur in order to upgrade to the microshift 8spd. im wondering if the stock shifter and derailleur would still work or would it end up not being able to reach the 46t?
Hey brother you may be able to buy an extender but I am pretty sure the stock derailleur will not have enough reach:( I would be curious though when using an extender?
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS thank you! I may try to buy a full sram eagle dub groupset with my backcounty.com employee discount. Did you weigh the microshift cassette to compare to the sunshine you took off? Would be interesting to see a cassette weight comparison between the original, sunshine, microshift and any other cassettes you have used on it.
Yes sir, just watch after I unbox it, the three are listed with weights. 8spd acolyte, 10spd sunshine and the GT stock 8spd. Just watch the whole thing.
I just got into upgrading my mountain bike on the website tree fort bike it says the Derailer is only compatible with their shifter is that true? I went ahead and ordered the shifter anyways
I believe that is correct, good thing you ordered it:) the shifter is cheap enough make sure he gets the cassette as well:) You can run that differently i sure. awesome you found t!!
Hey man, I'm a long-time fan of the channel! I was thinking of buying this for my Axum, do you think the stock AXE shifter is compatible with the mech?
Oooohhh??? Man I wouldent think so:( The Acolyte brand is very very picky. If you can find links to everything maybe see if you can buy them like that. They are pretty cheap groupsets man, let us know if we can help sending you some links.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS It's all good man, I just didn't want to go through the hassle of rerouting cables if i didnt need to. Also, the acolyte shifter doesn't seem to be the most ergonomic. Thank you anyways, brother!
Wow really? Thats crazy man!! I heard a few guys after this video came out that said they heard of a 12 spd, but to know you did it on the stock is awesome!! Thanks man.
It is a stretch but I have not used an extender, make sure when you tune yours in that the stabilizer is OFF. Also my B screw is all the way in, making the derailleur have as much clearence as possible. But maybe an extender
My stock derrauiker hits my 11-46 cassette on the last 40,46 I’m using a spacer already chain will be the issue ? I’m riding tomorrow and my bike is gone yet 😫😫😫
How would you guys feel about putting the micro shift drivetrain on the Schwinn Axum DP. I recently got one and the chain has popped off on me a few times while riding. Not a huge issue now but I would like to upgrade eventually
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I’m still using the same chain but I can’t get the derailleur properly tuned can’t seem to figure it out but again it works. My only concern with the microshift drivetrain is that shifter. It looks huge
For sure man, now I am assuming it is the acolyte cassette, shifter and derailleur. Now if so when you tune it is be sure and release the stabilizer, it will not only make it easier to tune but it will be more in tune with tension afterwards. So My B tensioner screw is all the way in, the screw that makes the derailleur sit further back from the bike itself, I have only had one issue and that was recently with it colliding with the cassette. It looked to be bent a little and unlubed, so I lubed up the pivot points and it was fine. Try these things and please let us know, good luck:)
Hey brother dont think you can with the original derailleur, I dont believe it would have enough reach, maybe could look at an extension but probably would be worth the money to avoid the headache and try to find the groupset.it is a very nice groupset hopefully it will be in stock again:)
Hey Aj, nice to hear from you man its been a while👍 now I want to say you can since it's a microshift but....the derailleur lists Acolyte shifter only, but you know how certain company's only list their stuff. Coffe man? Huh I love coffee ha ha as you can see if you have been watching the vids! Hmmm....That will be hell of a gearset!! But let me know if it shifts well? Chain alignment and so on, later man and good luck, remember acolyte shifter!!!
I know it's not a taff but I went to Wally Mart and sat on the taff I'm 5'9 , 5'10 on a good day but I felt short for the bike? How tall are you? And is the taff to big for me, never had a real mountain bike just 100 walmart special bike's
I'm 5'5" and weigh 153lbs and the Taff is to big for both of us haha. We love the Taff but man it is a beast that's for sure. If they have one in stock you should look at the Aluminum Comp it's a 27.5 bike so it feels a little better fit for us vertically challenged. The Boundary is another decent choice from Walmart, but also a big 29er. Let us know what you end up doing. Good luck, and let us know if you have anymore questions.
Do any of y’all have suggestion if my cassette is stuck on my Gt aggressor wheel it the stock one I have a chain whip and the other tool does anyone have any suggestion?
You guys tend to respond relatively quickly so i was hoping I'd figure to ask in hopes of a reply, but I want to possibly get this drive train set and was wondering if I could use this with the stock 3x8 setup or if I need to change to a 1x8. GT aggressor pro.
I take it that you mean with keeping the stock freewheel? I'm not sure but we might have to try that.👍 You could change out the rear wheel and get the cassette though, and then it would for sure.
👍 Noice!! 12 speed would fit as long as it’s a 11T - 50T, Cassette ,Ztto, Sram HG compatible free hub, Sunrace. Instead of a SRAM XD compatible free hub or Micro spline by Shimano. If it’s a 9/10 T - 50 T Cassette = not compatible with HG free hub.
Not stock because the Boundary has a freewheel like the Taff used to. You will need a new freehub rear wheel. But actually if the Boundary is a 8 spd?? Then you can with the derailleur and the shifter and not the cassette. But I think it is a 7 speed correct??? If that's the case then it's a no
Hey guys, my teen keeps busting up his GT, would this make his bike a little stronger? Also could he change all this out himself with the help of his dad?
Hey Beth, thanks for the question. Now this groupset will make his drive train stronger and make it easier on him when it comes to climbing. The problem is his bike is a 3x so this upgrade would require him to upgrade upgrade to 1x. So.....I am not sure of this would be the best upgrade. What about a new handlebar, grips and a stem. Well you will need a new headset in order to run either a straight steerer tube or a tapered one like the headtube is designed to work with. You cannot take the fork out and replace it with a new one because the crown race on the fork is welded on. So get a headset form our affiliate links in the Taff headset video. i have the raceface ride crankset on my framed wolftrax .. and the x type bracket. i like how those pedals look i might get them to match now. also more fat content please. how about a serious stress test of that upgraded mongoose. roots and rock gardens. i dont think i saw you change the bracket.lets see the extent of riding you can do on a square taper bracket. my first fat bike had one. bikesdirect gravity, after 2 months of roots and super tech stuff the bracket and crankset exploded. the x type is night and day durable.so is framed vs gravity
Hey brother the pedals are sweet and I think it will be a great match! Now we are looking at the fat bike soon! Gonna see if the new bb works and add a few details and maybe some hydraulic brakes!! ThNks for watching brother, see you sunday for the 5000 SUBSCRIBER BIKE!!
Man you can deff see that clutch working. That groupset looks pretty good for being an 8 speed il be interested to see how it climbs
Oh just wait Steve!! Lizard trail man lol
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS im going to have to go and ride that trail
I wonder if I can run my stock Microshift components w/ that cassette...?
Hmmm....don't think it will have the same cable ratios?
Gotta try out some odi elite pro grips and some stamp1 pedals.
Still gotta make that favorite set of components in every price bracket list :P
For sure man, gotta check them out, also got to check some Vans out? You try those yet???
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS not yet. Laying off the bike spending for now. Bikes good where it's at, gotta break something or improve enough to warrant some upgrades.
Feel ya man!! LOL ill take a look at those grips tho:) Thanks Vexis and nice to hear form you man:):):)
I am fairly certain that the SRAM NX cassette fits on standard Shimano HG hubs, which is what all the regular 8 speed hubs are, but then again, that is much more expensive than Microshift.
I am sure theya re man, it is a little confusing to me when t comes to the hub sizes and explanation or lack there of....
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS haha yeah it was for me too, but I watched a great many videos till I got the hang of it. 😃
I just dont have that kind of patience!! LOL And here we are with 25min videos!!! But we do offer detailed TIMESTAMPS!! LOL Thanks brother
Awesome video. Where can I find those acolyte derailleur? Its sold out everywhere as I've been searching for the last month and some change. Keep the vids coming. Congrats on 8k subs.
Thanks a bunch brother, Sadly it is out of STOCK EVERYWHERE!! Hopefully you can find one used maybe or n the "black Market" LOL Good luck and appreciate you watching and thanks for the congrats man:)
**update** Looks like they are coming back in stock on some site.
PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!! The picture does not show a chain stabilizer nor a switch/lever. I dont believe it is the same.....
Thanks for the video. I just installed this groupset on a GT Tequesta. Does the trigger on your shifter have a lot of up and down play?
Is it possible to use a different 8 speed shifter? Would be nice to use something like the deore shifter
Not with this setup, shifters and derailleurs are so freaking whacky! I wish man but it seems they are not compatible.....:(
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Damn oh well!
Did you bump up to a larger front chainring to compensate for the 12t(lack of 11t)
If not, what are.you rocking 32t front?
Man I can't remember if it's a 30 or 32 tooth. Ask me again in a few days and hopefully I will have remembered to look.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS good deal, I normally run a 32T..but thinking a 34 would compensate for the 12t!
Thanks for the response
I would agree:) God luck and why not an oval 34??
Sir, can i use my stock components for my gt aggressor mainly the shifter, chain and dirraileur when upgrading the stock cassete and also, my ixf 32t 1 x conversion is coming thanks to you guys. Felt a bit short climbing up the steep hills with my gt and hope this upgrade helps tremendously.
If your cassette does not go past a 42t you should be fine. 👍good luck and thank you 😊
Nice Vid!! Might have to try this on my bike!!!
Do it!!! For the price you cant go wrong.....well we will see I guess!! See you Sunday brother.
Installed this setup on my giant and can’t figure out how to adjust the derailleur from hitting the cassette while shifting up.
Great video! Stuff looks great
U.P.O thanks brother, the groupset for the price is very worth it. Spring lock💯
quick question... do you have to purchase a rear derailleur in order to upgrade to the microshift 8spd. im wondering if the stock shifter and derailleur would still work or would it end up not being able to reach the 46t?
Hey brother you may be able to buy an extender but I am pretty sure the stock derailleur will not have enough reach:( I would be curious though when using an extender?
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS thank you! I may try to buy a full sram eagle dub groupset with my backcounty.com employee discount. Not too sure yet because they don't have the cheaper option in stock anymore and sadly backcountry even with my discount doesn't exactly have budget parts. I've got some new sram level hydraulic brakes, I got them for $26 a piece! And some new grips and a new longer handlebar. Just gotta find a good deal and go through watch all of your budget fork videos. You and your dad are awesome. Also picked up some maxxis ardent tires today from the warehouse. Can't wait to put them on when my new tubes come in Friday. Gonna be a great day and the students bike shop for me
Man that is great Travis! I bet it is like Christmas for you often!! LOL $26 Sram BRAKES!! That is nutts man! Thank you for watching us and we will see you FRIDAY!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS absolutely!
No problems brother, it is a little LARGE :)
I have a 1x12 on my GT Aggressor Pro on stock wheel set. Sun race make it. I have sram GX Eagle shifter and rear derailer GX Eagle crankset
Wow really? Thats crazy man!! I heard a few guys after this video came out that said they heard of a 12 spd, but to know you did it on the stock is awesome!! Thanks man.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS got everything at worldwide cyclery.
Right on man:)That sounds like a cool build!
Are you going to do a real time review on this set up compared to the 10 speed?
For sure man, kind of a comparison but...well hopefully you see lol its out!!!See you sunday for the 5000 SUBSCRIBER BIKE!!
What kind of tuning did the derailleur need? I’m having the same issue on my wife’s laguna pro. I feel like I might need and extender
It is a stretch but I have not used an extender, make sure when you tune yours in that the stabilizer is OFF. Also my B screw is all the way in, making the derailleur have as much clearence as possible. But maybe an extender
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS You guys are great. I really appreciate that you responded, especially as soon as you did. Keep up the awesome content!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS well, went to my buddies at the lbs. My chain was routed wrong. Lol
Well thank you! We get to all questions most nights:) May be a super late or early response.
LOL!!! Man it HAPPENS!!!! Thanks for the update!
I would love to do that! The Acolyte is a bullet man:) I think it would pair nicely with the Axum, have you got new chain??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I’m still using the same chain but I can’t get the derailleur properly tuned can’t seem to figure it out but again it works. My only concern with the microshift drivetrain is that shifter. It looks huge
Get a new chain, look at KMC, they make some good stuff, Hey who care id the shifter is HUGE LOL As long as it works:)
True good point! Ill definitely look into the chain as well. Thanks!
:)
I got this for my gt aggressor pro and the derailleur hits the cassette at the last 2 biggest gears could you help me out with that.
Thank you so much!!
Can you run this cassette with the stock shifter and derailer or do you have to do the entire change?
Hey brother dont think you can with the original derailleur, I dont believe it would have enough reach, maybe could look at an extension but probably would be worth the money to avoid the headache and try to find the groupset.it is a very nice groupset hopefully it will be in stock again:)
What chain ring are you guys using on that blue bike ? How many teeth
30T oval
Here s an affiliate link man-amzn.to/3agbI44
Do you think you could run the original GT shifter with the acolyte derailure
Hey Aj, nice to hear from you man its been a while👍 now I want to say you can since it's a microshift but....the derailleur lists Acolyte shifter only, but you know how certain company's only list their stuff. I would be interested on trying if we so I'm sure we will film. Rode yesterday with the whole acolyte setup on the GT and man if you are looking at it, it's a steal!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOSyeah haven't commented but I've been watching. Just got the gannoper cranks, but waiting on the chainring before I install. Love your stuff man. Keep it up.
Thanks AJ, glad you are still here and watching man:) Gannopper is pretty sweet and very very similar to the IXF lol. Good luck and dont be a stranger in the comments man!! Later AJ
Just wondering can i use microshifter rear derailleur used whit shimano rapidfire shifter ?
Coffe man? Huh I love coffee ha ha as you can see if you have been watching the vids! Lol but if you are talking about the acolyte, it lists strictly it is only compatible with acolyte microshift shifter, but if the shifter is an 8 speed shimano shifter and a non acolyte 8 spd derailleur then I don't see a problem, supposedly they are compatible.? Good luck man and let me know cheers☕
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Thinking to upgrading stock (3x8) 12-32 casette whit this microshift casette and derailleur , its going to have on hell of gear range using stock front 3x 24-42 tooth and rear 12-46 tooth casette combo.
Awesome video man I'd like to know how riding the 8-speed with a different cog set compares to riding a stock one
For sure man, it's a game changer. Just wait till the review!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS heck yea man I'm stoked for sure.
Do any of y’all have suggestion if my cassette is stuck on my Gt aggressor wheel it the stock one I have a chain whip and the other tool does anyone have any suggestion?
Penetrating oil? Gentle tapping....
Alr thx I’ll try that
Can you run this derailer with the stock cassette and shifter?
Do not think so, even though it is an 8 spd the throw will be different in the shifter and it will not shift correctly on the cassettes cogs.
You guys tend to respond relatively quickly so i was hoping I'd figure to ask in hopes of a reply, but I want to possibly get this drive train set and was wondering if I could use this with the stock 3x8 setup or if I need to change to a 1x8. GT aggressor pro.
Would this groupset work on the Villotti too?
I take it that you mean with keeping the stock freewheel? I'm not sure but we might have to try that.👍 You could change out the rear wheel and get the cassette though, and then it would for sure.
Try some PNW Loam grips. My favorites so far.
DUDE I NEED SOME!!!! Everyone talks about those:)
Hey, Wolftick Nation! Do we all enjoy the cold opens because it feels.... familiar?
YES!!! C'MON PEOPLE:)!!
What size front sprocket are you running in this
Chainring is a 30T oval
Thanks for the info.👍
Also 13 speed 11-52 S-Ride
Great Video! Would this groupset work on a stock 2020 boundary?
Not stock because the Boundary has a freewheel like the Taff used to. You will need a new freehub rear wheel. But actually if the Boundary is a 8 spd?? Then you can with the derailleur and the shifter and not the cassette. But I think it is a 7 speed correct??? If that's the case then it's a no
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I'd
Yea. Your right it's 7 speed. Thanks
Love the vid let’s go🔥🔥
Loving the enthusiasm 👍👍
Hey guys, my teen keeps busting up his GT, would this make his bike a little stronger? Also could he change all this out himself with the help of his dad?
Hey Beth, thanks for the question. Now this groupset will make his drive train stronger and make it easier on him when it comes to climbing. The problem is his bike is a 3x so this upgrade would require him to upgrade upgrade to 1x. So.....I am not sure of this would be the best upgrade. What about a new handlebar, grips and a stem. He could install then easily with his dad!! Here are some affiliate links...
15mm rise would be good

What max gear change with upshift/downshifting?
46tooth
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS no I ment, is it able to down shift by 3 gears and upshift by 2 and only one by one
Oh I got ya man, that I am not too sure on. I did not try that out:(.... Until the LTwoo I never shifted like that.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS no worries, I'll find out soon, Putting it on the wifes' bike.first to see how I like it.

Brother what I need to do for stickers for support to put on the back of my suv :)
Well we include stickers for all coffee purchasers through our link in all videos. 1 coffee = 1 sticker and so on👍 thanks man we respond asking for your mailing address and ship em out!!
Thank you I will definitely buy you a cup of coffe I wish I can personally get you one so you give a little
Lesson about bikes lol. But I’m in Dallas TX. Brother can. I ask you something I think I just gonna keep my 27.5 Schwinn al comp
But any chance you know how I can see what fork to get please can you help me with that? Of course with out spending to much thanks again
Well you will need a new headset in order to run either a straight steerer tube or a tapered one like the headtube is designed to work with. You cannot take the fork out and replace it with a new one because the crown race on the fork is welded on. So get a headset form our affiliate links in the Taff headset video. It is the same size and then go from there. Let me know when you watch that video and order, you will have to have that first. I explain a little-like I said same size as the Taff's
You guys rock! more the merrier keep the videos coming we enjoy all your hard work and appreciated it also. I have the same bike lift I have the same cheap tools and they work well.you just encourage everyone to do more with less. #budgetbikebuild.
