Parents shouldn't allow a 5 year old to run freely unsupervised. That in itself is parental neglect, imo.

I wonder how hard they looked at the neighbor with the puppy. He would have the familiarity, the access, and the dog to use as bait to lure her somewhere.

This is exactly what I thought too. He was the last person who saw her and I feel like he gave a convenient story. She walked over to see his dog, he put the dog in the backyard, she was gone. Why would he walk away and put the dog in the backyard if she was visiting with it? This story just gave me a bad vibe.

This dude’s story *immediately* made me itch! So.. a little girl shows interest in your puppy. In response, u take the puppy out of sight of the neighborhood. Notably, the girl disappears at precisely this time as well. How.. coincidental.

@@joedennehy386 ...and: I don't think that a stranger kidnapper or a predator neighbour had ANY clue about how look it could take to bring the puppy in another place. The man could show again at every second during the kidnapping. And / or someone could come from the man's house, to see what was happening with the puppy and the husband. Not the best moment to kidnap a child, with the unpredictable incognita of the man returning at every moment after leashing the dog / leaving him in a cage and so on. Very sketchy...

What mother lets a 5 year old wander around by herself? Not just this day, but it seemed to be a theme. Dude with the puppy seems shady. Even when she didn't arrive home, her mom sent the 10 year old out looking for her instead of doing it herself. Mom seems like a neglectful parent. Someone in the neighborhood knew Leanna's parents weren't watching her kids regularly and took the opportunity when it struck. She was an easy target.

Holy smokes! I used to own a house very near LeeAnna's disappearance street. I was getting it ready to rent, that summer, and I remember having a series of young tenants with kids, after that. Chisholm is a lovely town, but economically depressed. I must have been too busy to read the Chisholm papers that summer. Poor little dear. The people could have used a car rental and dumped her remains into the Pillsbury mine pit. There are no mine shafts in Chisholm, just giant strip mine pits, the abandoned ones full of water, like deep lakes.

But you can apply that sentence to almost any abduction case; it's so easy to say that when you have no idea what actually happened. Many of these predators watch, wait, and stalk (hence the title "predator"). Sometimes these things are planned, so the parents have no idea that these people are out there. I am glad I grew up being able to run around without my parents watching me the whole time, and I am glad I grew up without a stupid cell phone in my pocket. BUT! I can say that knowing that I didn't encounter any trouble. Had I been a victim of some pervert I might be saying something completely different. Either way, I am sure her parents loved her unconditionally, and I bet they beat themselves up every single day saying, "what if...." or "I only I had done...". I don't think the parents are to blame here.

My sister wrote a note telling my parents she was going to run away. She was about five or six. Of course, she never did.
Edit My take on the dolls given by the stranger is, if I had a young daughter who had come home with Barbie dolls that a family or known friend hadn't given her I'd have wanted to know who exactly gave them to her, and where they lived. It seems very odd that the parents didn't make more of a effort to find out where the family Lee Anna wanted to moved in with lived.

I would immediately suspect the neighbor with the puppy. Supposedly killers interject themselves, into a case, that is, and it would follow the same pattern as the man recently arrested in connection with the Delphi murders. In that case the suspect didn't volunteer contact with the victims, as far as I know, but his presence. Other than that, if the girl is talking about leaving for a new family, she is either fantasizing about it or someone is saying these things to her. There's really no third option.

Good morning Dr Grande, very informative video. With some many narratives it is really hard to say what happened. I remember watching a TV movie in the late 80s about these women who would kidnapped young children and illegally put them up for adoption. This, though rare, could have been what happened here.
Have a great and happy Christmas Eve.

If the story of the barbies is real, surely they tracked that down? It is unusual to give multiple gifts like that to a random child. It could have been something completely innocent, maybe somebody had grown children and saw this child wondering around frequently by herself and thought maybe she would like some new barbies. If I were a parent, I still would have found it odd and wanted to know how this came about. The police should have definitely been interested, and maybe they were and we just don't have the whole story. i also agree with others, the witness with the puppy was worth an investigation, it wouldn't be the first time a child predator used a pet as a lure.

I have seen this story actually just recently on tv, it baffles me of how many stories I have seen on tv showing many old cases From way back in the days from parents letting their very young kids either walk or go on bike rides by themselves then end up being kidnapped and murdered, and then they would seem shocked like nothing has ever happened like this before around here, and they just went a block over or a few blocks over we thought it seem safe and blah blah blah 🤦, like really who in hell anyways in the right mind let's a 5 yr old supposably that was supposed to walk to a friend's house go by herself like are you kidding me, then you have your 10 yr old go look for her are you kidding me, I be flying out that door looking not have somone else do it unless they were helping me, but you have your other young child looking 🤨, and there has always been predators I don't care how safe it seem or if it's a small little town or what ever the case maybe or what year it was, not everyone is safe.. there has always been predator out there and lurking around or even Living in your own neighborhood, to me it's a parents job to make sure your kid is safe and they get to where ever it is safe as well and being supervised.. And another thing that seem strange is your daughter seems to be acting strange by acting like she wants to go live with another family and brings home Barbies and you don't make a big deal out of it and act like it's just a kid just being a kid, I don't know that just seems off to me and a little fishy unless something was going on at home, because if that was me and my kid was bringing home toys and saying that stuff to me I be asking questions and be even more cautious but I don't know something still don't seem right to me with these parents, and why didn't they give also lie detector test still to the parents anyways and also to the 2 people that supposedly saw her that day and investigate them more
And there is no way in hell I would of have ever let my son go anywhere by himself not even a block over, when he was younger he was always supervised, even when my son would want to ride his bike i would be on the porch watching him and from where I could see him if he wanted to go further I walk with him or go for bike rides with him but he was always like I said supervised.. all this could be prevented if parents would learn how to supervisor their kids and not let them go anywhere by themselves especially at a young age it's common sense

The guy who was found with a bag over his head in a gravel pit is my bet. I would assume the father confronted him and he took care of him. People don't usually go through the effort of going to an isolated area to off themselves through asphyxiation. That's not a quick easy way out.
But you never know, I've heard of a guy hanging himself from a height that was shorter than he was, while he was on cameras that magically went out in a well guarded prison cell. Oh and I guess I can't forget the officer who was a part of a group keeping people out of another important person's house, who shot himself twice in the back of the head.
So yeah, I guess may he did it all by himself, nevermind

Hey, for another Minnesota mystery, get familiar with the case of Anne Dunlap. On New Year's Day 1996, Dunlap was found in the trunk of her car, which was parked in a Kmart parking lot in the middle of south Minneapolis (just a few blocks from my apartment, as it happens). She had last been seen two days earlier. The speculation of the time rested on her husband, Brad, including all police resources, but nothing has ever been proven.

When I was 6-7 I was in the Brownies, precursor to the Girl Scouts. My mom was late picking me up so I decided to walk home. I took the wrong street and got lost. I remember sitting in the curb crying and a little old lady came out if her house and got me. She made me cookies and called my mom, who came and got me. That was the 60s, how easily I could be a yt story. I was a wild child and I ran the streets all the time. I skipped school for 3 weeks in the 8th grade, going to hang out with my friend's boyfriend, who was going to prison on cocaine charges. I got caught bc my sister saw me returning to school. So many stories, surely God had a bunch of angels working ot keeping me safe 🙌

I'd love to hear Dr Grande's opinions on victim blamers. What makes them tick? What is the purpose of blaming a murder victim for her own death, for example? I've seen so much of this on YT crime channels about one particular case where a pregnant mother and two little children were murdered by the husband/father. What's going on there?
