Working on my 2006 48re overdrive. Shifts into first second with no overdrive. Thank you for being clear concise . Outside of my own research ; you helped package everything together nice and neat.
Great content! Always fun to see how these come apart and the differences between them. Myer was always fun to watch tearing them apart, you're getting on par with one handed disassembly. The 47rh/47re/48re is like the TH400 of the diesel world, amazing how many upgrades are available and how much they can be improved over stock.
Speaking of being safe and careful. Not meaning to be the channel Karen. I just saying that skin exposure to chemicals, and oils containing chemicals are typically toxic to very toxic and can be absorbed through the skin. Hope you will wear chemical resistant gloves when handling components like in this video. I learned this in another life working for Uncle Sam as an aviator & aviation maintenance chief. You will thank me and yourself later in life for wearing them. Thanks for posting and always enjoy your videos, not to mention learn a thing or three in the process. Have a great weekend. 👍
I enjoy watching your videos . I spoke to you once about building me a 47rh with 48 planets ect . And all of the other things you do to them . I just decided to go g56 . If I had stayed with automatic you certainly would have been my choice . I never regretted spending money on quality parts . I was told the 48 also had a better front pump
This is perfect timing! I just got done installing a Transgo TFOD shift kit in a 47rh valvebody. Collecting parts for a "650hp" RH build. Will you be adding 1 more friction to the to the forward drum for a total of 5? Will Terry did a ton of power on 5 pinion steel planets. I hope you can make a video going back together with all the mods. Again, Awesome video man! Is there any truth to the RH pump being bigger than the 47re pump?
I recently refreshed a 47RH to replace a 518, the hardest parts are the "special tools" required for measuring intermediate shaft selective ring, if you're using the same OD internals AND your OD output shaft bearing snap ring hasn't worn the groove, you should be able to reuse your old one (check them for wear). It took me a while to do, triple and quadruple checked everything but it works.. Next build will be quicker. Hope to see the reassembly of it too, unlike channel on youtube that only shows disassemblies :)
I'd say like 600 max. I only plan on doing injectors and a different vgt turbo. Its a daily driver tow rig. I think the valve body is leaking it shifts strange and won't downshift sometimes when it gets hot.
Great info here josh for those 47 48 guys Doesn't appear that 47 had much power put through it pretty clean good shape internally. My 68 is holding up good at 550-600hp 98k so far with just separator plate drilled valve body and hp tuners cranking up the line pressure. need to work on the shift scheduling and lock unlocks still.... but may look to go to one of your 48 swaps when the time comes way cheaper to build the 48...Thanks for the content
I've spoke with Fire punk they will throw any ones valve body on the test stand for a fee obviously. It's really worth it. Once those passages wear your guessing , chasing your tail trying to figure out why your transmission isn't working properly. Wow those 6.0l are tight under the hood. How can any one at home work on those. I couldn't imagine pulling a engine if I had to.
@@jamesmarlar696 Not on a cummins , I was personally comparing it to my two rams I own . I have room for days in my engine bay . I don't think duramax has to remove the cab either.
For some reason this clip will not stay connected….the prongs on the transmission side are ok and inside wire clip looks ok but it won’t push on anymore. Is there a way to jump this connection out or replace end of wire clip? (obviously I would need to make sure it was in park from now on)
Hey josh I know this is random but Is it possible to take a 4wd 47rh and convert it to 2wd using a 47rh 2wd output shaft and OD section ?? Most 47RH an RE cores I find around Virginia for sale are 4wd , my truck is 2wd an has a nv4500 currently so I’m looking to build a 47 to stab in the truck , but all I can get my hands on at the moment are 4wd 47 units so that’s why I was curious , any advice would be greatly appreciated , love the channel an the new shop dude !
I was going to ask if Josh had heard of John too. Dudes been building Torqueflite transmissions (Mopar specific) all his life. He has a Transmission dyno too for Valve body testing and diagnostics. I saw that he found an alternative supply for the Reverse Man. shifters that are now hard to get because of the supply chain issues.
@@jamesmarlar696 Hearing stuff like that is heartbreaking lol. I would literally sweep the floor, scrub toilets etc just to be around these shops. Doing this for a living would be a dream, not even work.
Transmission bench does an excellent tear down and reassembly of a 46/7/8re transmission. Excellent, detailed videos

Tier one transmission! Down in Arizona
Right when I was about to take a nap. Thanks.
Very cool informative almost as good as being there and was good to see I kept bands adjusted well thanks for all the help!

I love my PDD valvebody. Myer built it to do what want and it works flawlessly. A big improvement from my worn out self built valvebody
Nice video. And good to know the whats what and what you can use and how from each trans.
Hell Yeah Brother 🇺🇸🦅
Awesome to see your in stock inventory grow almost every video! Keep up the good work guys
Trying to keep up
Nice pink screw driver love it
David tries to steal it all the time
Very informational, I have the same transmission from a 95 2wd truck and I plan on tearing down. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!
That is exactly the truck this trans is from

I know I need to get better, I try to wear gloves but they tear quick
A&A transmission! Best on torqueflite trans HANDS DOWN
Never heard of them
Lol bud, Josh’s transmissions are the best

Digging the how to vids! Hopefully the assembly vid will be next and how to properly set up a 47/48 trans!
I’ll do a few, at least that’s the goal
Hell yeah Josh.
Great Explanation Video Josh!! Much Needed!!

The RH pump is similar to the 48 pump.
47 rh/re are similar in flow output, the 48re is the monster flow pump
Nice video, love your videos
can you do a video of reassembly
I like your transmission build area! Very nice. I’ve built a 47re. I kinda enjoy it. I like your videos man!
Thanks!
@@horsetorquesdiesel yessir! I also know the pains of working with one hand lmao. I’ve only had the use of one hand for 20 years lol

We will go into some detail for sure!
Good video Josh 👍🏻
Are you doing 68 builds by chance? I'd like to have my 2012 built.
We can, what hp are you wanting to hold
I'd say like 600 max. I only plan on doing injectors and a different vgt turbo. Its a daily driver tow rig. I think the valve body is leaking it shifts strange and won't downshift sometimes when it gets hot.
Do u replace all of the bushings when u do a full rebuild
Yes minus the sun gear bushings, unless it’s really worn

What's your take on bolt in sprags? Great video. Keep the 47/48 info coming.
What did you do to your poor thumb!? 😔 The last minute of the video answered my question!

Cab off to do engines is the general practice
Check out a 6.4 if you think the 6.0 is bad.

Hey Josh how bout a discussion on the mods you do on a 47/48? Stuff thats not in the ATSG manual. thx

6 pinion planets ftw.
For big power yes sir!
does a 47re dipstick tube fit and read right on a 47rh?
What is the three pin connector right beside the shift linkage. I found that the one on my truck was off and it wouldn’t start without it
Park neutral safety switch
Dynamic Transmissions WA
Are these tranmission any good for F450 flat bed truck? Delivery vehicle?
No I'd do a 5r110
How do you compress that 900 lb spring in the tranny?
Shop press
How much do u charge for a built 48re to hold 600hp
6250.00 not including core, tax, or shipping
What about ATS I thought they had the best transmission's and valve bodies around 😂
Probably wouldn’t install that
