Oh hell no🥴 I would go nuckin futs! This and the Allison build makes me sure I would take my truck to Mark@Kodiak truck all the way from northern Idaho 👍
Many years ago Dave helped me fix my friends 47 re transmission . He makes really good parts for them also . Back when the first triple disc and the different stall converter came out Dave explained how they worked ect to me . Thanks for the videos and info
I watched all the way through until the end. Great video! Mark is so knowledgeable I love watching him talk through these builds. Keep up the great work!
this is a beautiful thing to watch. blows my mind watching these older timers going to town on a transmission. i thought i was a wizard installing my lift pump but holy shit, i wish i would have nix'd college and went to trans school back in the day. youtube woulda been cool to have back then ;(
I like it a lot he pulls transmissions apart the same way as I do, tail housing pan valve body, I generally tear mine all the way down, then Bell housing if it is a two-piece then the pump .
Wow,that’s one big ass spring in that transmission, it looks like a coil spring on a car, l love watching Mark work he’s very knowledgeable on transmissions it’s know wonder why he’s so busy 👍
Damn fine video. If you don't understand after this then you really don't need to do it yourself at first. The most informative 47re build video I have seen. Great job guys and thank you so much. I am going to try to get away with doing just the direct band with the trany on truck but if my direct drum is scored then I am rebuilding. This video has given me everything or at least enough to tackle the task . Thanks again.
Wow. This guy rebuilds trannys / cases etc within a day or less. And the local guy to me would take MONTHS to rebuild my transmission. 3/4/5 months on a basic 1993 Honda Accord lol I hated life during those times. I can see now my local guy absolutely sucked.
great video,,but you seem to have left out the most important steps, like showing how you check various clearances, also, you didn't show how the O>D section didn't go back on easy because you did not use the alignment stub shaft to align all the splines in the OD when you press it back on,important detail for anybody looking at this,as some will try to force the od section on and wreck their new parts,i understand you dont do Dodge trans,so missing those details is understandable, but a great assembly video regardless.
@@TruckMaster hi excuse me to disturb you, I have 47 re transmission and I need to rebuilt it with red alto clutches, but my problems are how many red alto clutches can I put instead of stocks clutches. For example in front drum in stock I have 4 clutches, can I put 6 red alto clutches, and how to know if the clearance is good ? Thank you for your answers and your help
@@TruckMaster I thought so lol. No worries man. I still enjoy your videos bud. Good to see another video from ya. Hope yourself and the family us doing well.
It’s not that the filter is rated for a “ built” transmissions, but that it’s a fine Dacron that also filters better than the cloth style original , doesn’t impede flow and also allows the fluid to be sucked through top and bottom of the filter while the fluid is still being completely filtered . Man, do yourself a favor and call Cascade parts , buy the proper kit to press those over drive unit . There has already been a couple deaths and a few major injuries cause by those units .
Very good video I know it’s a year old one thing I noticed was at 11:23 you guys did not put a cut down old intermediate shaft into the splines before you compressed the od direct clutch pack.I’m still wondering how you got it back together without doing that lol😂😊
This is a fantastic video! Much appreciated for you making this. I'm about to rebuild my 47RE transmission out of my '02 Cummins 3500 and I'm ordering both kits from Goerend but can you tell me if the GT2 kit comes with everything I'll need? This is critical because I live in Ukraine and importing parts is extremely expensive and this doesn't even include the cost of shipping so I have to be sure that the kits contain everything. Currently my truck is between 650-700hp, will there be any issues with these kits? I appreciate any input/advise you can give me.
hey truck master I got a quick question for ya isn’t the truck’s(99 Cummins) frame gonna be red as well(it will blend in with the transfer case)(is that your goal with the build is for everything to blend in?)
Gonna do some rv haulin this winter with the hope I can swing by for a Allison build....mines a 5 speed... Make it a six if you want too... How long would truck be down? Hotels nearby? Lol. Obviously I'll call for an appointment when I know better
Why is there a Chevy Silverado setting in the background of a trans meant for a Dodge Cummins in the thumb nail image? Poor thinking on someone's part.
Quick question why did you have to put in a case saver behind the overdrive I know for snap ring alinement but did it come out of this transmission or did you change something that required the additional case saver spacer ring we can just call it that lol thanks for you time!
Just trying to make sure I get all the proper parts so I’m not half way through them gotta wait a week to get additional parts. Even though it will probably happen anyway
Man I think after watching the Allison one I could do it myself but I think I’ll make the drive with the jokermax from Louisiana to there so I can just have him do it along with rear end and transfer case what camera do you use to film just started my channel for my LBZ and my wife’s mustang
Rebuilding mine rn the book isn’t so good on the tranny side (O/D side is great). I not only watched all the way through I re watched it to many times to count.
I honestly didn’t want to even think about clicking this video. Almost every video at kodiak truck has a very high pitched whine that drives me nuts. But this one didn’t!! Don’t believe me go watch the Allison build or watch the head gasket video.
I'm Currently having to rebuild mine again 2 weeks after getting it back from being rebuilt....not impressed with the whole thing....I truly hope I find failed electrical vs. swapped out used junk inside.
I don't know what make of impact that is but that hi streaking noise it's making rival's fingernails on chalk board through a P.A . Mental note to never own whatever it is. Nit even sure if I can make it through the video.
Enjoyed the video immensely, but DID YOU REBUILD THE VALVE BODY!!? There was no talk of that whatsoever. I have rebuilt my 47RE, twice and to my dismay it failed twice. I followed all the steps you outlined way before I found your video on TH-cam. Failure I found out was due to a worn out valve body. I was wondering, did you vaccume test the valve body for valve bore wear before it was reinstalled? Those valves shuttle back and forth hundreds of times even on the shortest of trips. Most people fail to realize that one of the main reasons transmissions fail is due to valve body wear which reduces oil pressure which in turn leads to clutch, torque converter slipping and low band apply pressures.
Uggg guys do you think if you make anymore transmission videos you can give a brief shout out to each individual part you but your hands on to remove. Like what was the servos or pistons or whatever they are called called. See my point. I'm watching this to learn a meticulous build and will be my first one. I modify and rollerize TH-400's almost exclusively and make manual shit and a lot of circuit blocking and rerouting and I do a bunch of them and do all my own lathe work and I think you get the point. So this is the 1st videos I have clicked and would really love it to call each ???? By correct name because I have one of these coming in for a build for a friend again my better judgment and they clearly know I only fo 400,4L80 and NV,-4500 and own all special tools called for mostly Kent Moore. So I'm crash corsing myself and will download the ATSG manual for this also. I'm not cutting on you guys at all I'm just making a suggestion for a professional detailed video where there's no thingies or do dads and do one thank you
After you watch this video and the Alison trans video I did a year ago I think you can open your own transmission repair shop 😂
I really hope you guys didn’t put that back together with that aluminum 4 pinion planetary.
Oh hell no🥴 I would go nuckin futs!
This and the Allison build makes me sure I would take my truck to Mark@Kodiak truck all the way from northern Idaho 👍
Just confirms that's a hell no. Having an anxiety attack
I always watch to the end of all your videos
Exellent Job Mark!🩸✝️

Best yet Video on a Trans rebuild. Precise , Clean , and patiently re-checks his work on each intricate piece during reassembly. Well done Mr Mark.
I watched all the way through until the end. Great video! Mark is so knowledgeable I love watching him talk through these builds. Keep up the great work!
I had to laugh when Mark said "we don't do many Dodge transmissions" as he makes it look like he could do the build blindfolded.
Thanks Gator Built 👍
😂👍
Clear, focused to the point. Clean, neat. Just right!
I appreciate it

Watched the video the entire way through. I love the patriotic theme to the drive train! Can’t wait to see how the build turns out.
Congrats on the trans build! It’s not fully built, but it’s a solid 600hp rated trans. Billet intermediate and output is what you’re missing.
Wow this channel is getting more gooder with every new video.
😂👍
Gooder and gooder.
I’m one of the ones on his list waiting for a transmission and transfer case and I can’t wait to get it
So worth the wait
How'd it turn out
Transgel is great cause when it warms up it turns to trans fluid so it doesnt harm anything

Mark is a DAMN beast! I'm totally amazed with my 64mm Ryan's diesel turbo. Great work Josh, I watched the whole thing and I'm a Duramax guy.
Thanks Chase!
He’s right about the filter to if you use just a plain Jane filter you’ll stop up the transmission more than likely
Great video, the tech rebuilding the trans really was a real professional, great attention to detail

Love it .. red. White. And blue .. perfect

Built 48 is hard to beat. Better than a Allison with big power
Seious inquiry, is that opinion or built on facts, keep truckin' !

Man if Kodiak could work with precision transmission ( another youtube channel they do great work too) I love transmission technology
That would be awesome
I love that precision does their builds on an old autopsy table 😅😂🤣
@@OldGriz708 yes sir it is brilliant!

That one clip on the bur on the drum looked like an older clip from a older video buddy.

Where can I purchase a kit for rebuilding a transmission a 47RE thank you
Badass super excited
Coulda used this video when I had my 12 valve but I just swapped it to a 5 speed then got rid of it now I got a 24 valve 5 speed

@@TruckMaster Would you please disclose the gearbox model? How much would it be? Is that a manual gearbox?

👍👍
keep the great work man

This video was good. Wish there was more on VB stuff though. All in al a great video.
Awesome video. I will be rebuilding my 47RE soon
Nyce second Gen broooo
All that time and money should of put new trans pump gears and over drive housing. A lot of stuff he didn’t touch on like scotch bright is your friend
Can’t please them all but we did it right 👍
I would have done 6 pinion steel rear planet. The aluminum 4 pinion can wear out with higher hp applications but they will work lol
Yeah looks like the guy doesn’t know what he’s doing lol. You genius armchair warriors.
Clean job good teaching job I follow from this video
Beautiful work...
Great video, watched to the end
So 2 things.... when you took the input drum apart it appears the piston was in the wrong way? And then you never showed putting it back together?
Great video
Thank you sir for this video I appreciate it
Thanks!
Question what are the tools do you need to revolt Door Max transmission
Im not to sure on this one
Thank you so much for this video...I believe I can do this!

how did you line up the planetary at the bottom of the overdrive section

Rebuilding mine rn the book isn’t so good on the tranny side (O/D side is great). I not only watched all the way through I re watched it to many times to count.
Where do i send mine to???? looks like a mint rebuild
That new shell has a 3 tab thrust washer instead of the 6 tab which is wider for more surface contact. So that was a bit of a downgrade but whatever.
What rebuild kit/cluches brand did he say he used
how much do the parts cost. Thank you
What kind of hp will this thing hold
pump gear upside down. bevel toward converter
Does that mean if i went to him he wouldn't build my cummins transmission, he kinda the only person I trust to build it
