Oh wow! What an AWESOME family adventure! So cool! Looks like a great trip so far. I'm so happy for you guys that you were able to do this trip! Just top shelf! Thanks for taking us along, Daryl. Monday morning made better!
I love seeing families out on an adventure together! Looks beautiful and I love the injection of indigenous and other history in your storytelling. Looking forward to the next episode
What an enjoyable and exciting paddle...white water, you never can feel too confident with what may lie around the corner under a set of rapids. What a great experience...glad to have "tagged along" on this one Daryl!
Thank you, Kathleen. I'm glad the low-water swifts were not dangerous, it was a great section of river to learn some skills. I appreciate you coming along. Take care. Daryl
Nice video of that section of the Mississagi River!! I was surprised that you were running fast water in what appears to be a small sea kayak!! Good work out there.. Coming close to rocks is always a scary proposition but especially in faster water!! Mickey did very well considering he's not a 'water' dog!! Nice to have an experienced paddler like 'Mrs. Fly North' taking the lead and giving the two kayakers the best line to follow. You and your kids did very well paddling on fast water for the first time. Great draw strokes Ali!! Looking forward to the 2nd video!!!
Thanks. Luckily the water was shallow and there were no dangerous rapids, mostly just swifts. Yes, Mrs. Fly North is a pro and taught her daughter well throughout the journey. I'm mostly proud of Mickey though! 😅
Thanks Age. Yes, Mick was surprising very chill throughout the trip. Or he might have been too terrified to move a muscle, we're not really sure. Thanks for joining us.
Did I hear a bleep, Lol .. What an exciting and beautiful trip... So much fun, much better than any amusement park... These are the kind of trips that we dream about.. Family, nature, excitement and discovery... Great fun Daryl... Happy Wednesday, Jim 😊✌️
Hi Jim, you're right, the best ride ever, amusement park rides can't compete. I think it's because the outcome is unpredictable when I'm paddling, I never know where I'll end up. 😀 Thanks for coming along, looking forward to your next one. Cheers. Daryl
I’ve only kayaked in swift water with rapids once also. It was a two person kayak with my dad and we flipped over. It was accidentally but it was fun. The Mississagi River looks so pristine. Great little beach area for lunch. 👍15
Hi Craig. Yes, this river is under the radar for some reason so it is very pristine, as you noticed. This was possibly the most fun I've had paddling down a river. Thanks for coming along.
🙂❤👍Thank You Daryl Another Awesome Adventure🙂 I have never Kayaked in fast moving water before must of been a little scary Great Kayaking Adventure🙂❤👍Looking Forward to Your next Adventure 🙂👍
Thank you, Robert. Thankfully those were nice swifts to get some experience, with nothing too dangerous to worry about. a lot of fun for sure. Thanks for joining us. Cheers. Daryl
Thank you. I was a little disappointed when I noticed the other camera had gotten fogged up before its batteries died. I'll have to work on a solution for that. Thanks for joining us! Cheers. Daryl
I still remember the time a friend of mine with two small kids in the middle were paddling some rapids in Keji...well, it didn't go so well as one of kids in the middle of the rapids got a little scared and decided to stand up! Over we all went...gear and everything! We were fortunate that the water was only knee deep and walked our way to shore. When ever my friend and I see one another we still remember that time...especially everything being pretty wet for the first couple days of a 4-day canoe around the park. Looks like you sure did spend some pretty great quality time together! Looking forward to Part 2!
Thanks Bruce - that's a great story, thank you for sharing that. We certainly had some difficulties later on but thankfully, no flipping. That said, the younger members of our party did end up with wet clothes too. 😀
I wish I could have learned more about that area, I couldn't find much online. I know about Grey Owl but his cabin was much further north so I didn't mention it. I also am curious how Thessalon's name came into being; was there a Greek connection? As always, if you can fill in some gaps on any of my videos, I would really appreciate it. Thanks Janson, looking forward to your next adventure. Cheers. Daryl
Excited to see you and the whole family paddling this section of the river! As you say, the best time to paddle any section of a river would be May/June - but even summer flows in the middle of the day on this river are typically enough to make a good portion of the rapids runnable. We have an idea of the sections where you may have "bottomed out" on...we'll wait for the next episode!
Hi. Yes, we hit a really shallow section a ways down. I knew the daily Aubrey Falls dam closing would possibly be an issue but I didn't think the water would drop so suddenly! Thanks for showing us the way with your video and it was nice for my wife to revisit a river she paddled many times with the junior rangers. Cheers. Daryl
An awesome family paddle. Those falls are stunning. A lot of "firsts" fpr you and your kids. Good thing the Mrs. Was there to be the veteran. That was sure a nice spot to paddle. Bummer about the foggy camera. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to what awaits down river!
Mickey looks like he did pretty well! This looks like so much fun and even a bit intimidating. We did a rafting ride up in Glacier National Park a few years ago, but it wasn't a white water rafting ride, which we were happy about. It was mostly smooth. 😂 Looks like Mrs. North knows what she's doing! ❤ Fun trip! 😊 Thanks for sharing! Love the lunch spot on the beach. On to part 2! 🙂
Hi. Yes Mrs. Fly North is quite and expert in white water; I am not. Glad it was mostly swifts and nothing too fast. Mickey surprised all of us with his composure. Thanks for watching!
Always nice to see families doing things together. I'd be like Mickey since I don't know how to swim and would be quite nervous around rapids. I love how your channel is growing and looking forward to the second part. Have a great weekend my friend!
Thank you Jim, I really appreciate that. We think Mick might have been too scared to move a muscle, that's why he looked so relaxed. 😀 He did really well though. As long as he's got everyone together, he's happy wherever he is. Thanks again! Cheers. Daryl
What a fun stretch of moving water. That beach looked like a terrific spot for lunch as well... Although I have paddled the upper Mississagi, I have not paddled this section beneath the falls. Looks like I might have to add it to the list! Standing by for part 2... Hopefully the later stretches will be less bony. Cheers! T.
Thanks Trevor. I think this river would be a lot of fun in June. Also, I read somewhere the Aubrey Falls dam gates close around 5pm every day basically shutting off the flow to the lower section and that seemed to coincide with our bottoming out experiences later in the day. That said, this is probably the most fun stretch of river I've ever paddled.
@flynorthproductions hahah I just did some maintenance on my kayak and added some gel coat to places that scratched down to the fiberglass layer. A lot of it is now etched onto rocks in Georgian Bay, more unfortunate for the environment than my boat
Hi Daryl and family - fun to see you all out together on the Mississagi River! Good thing your wife has experience and can lead the way! Mickey was sure brave and trusting to join you on your adventure. Beautiful section, moving pretty fast- I’m assuming it was a one day trip or you’d need a fair amount of gear! I’ll have to wait for the next episode- 👌😄 Cheers, Jen
Oh, I really like the name of that river!! That looked a bit questionable at times. It was nice to watch from the comfort of my phone 😅 Seriously, though the scenery is beautiful 😊 looking forward to part 2!
Yes, that's good advice, it certainly would have helped keep the water out. I need to practice the wet exits with the new skirt though first, the cockpit is so large, I can't even reach the front of the opening to pull the strap. The skirt I have comes with zippers as well which I don't completely trust just yet. Thanks for coming along; I've been missing your drone videos this year, I hope everything is alright.
😀I certainly wouldn't take your beautiful kayak down this stretch, that's for sure. You're definitely going to cringe throughout part 3. I hope you had a great week at the camp. Cheers.
Looked like a great time Daryl!👌
It sure was, Marc. Thanks.
Oh wow! What an AWESOME family adventure! So cool! Looks like a great trip so far. I'm so happy for you guys that you were able to do this trip! Just top shelf!
Thanks for taking us along, Daryl. Monday morning made better!
Thanks for the very kind words, Jeff. Your comments always make my day. I hope you're having a great week. Cheers. Daryl
Awesome! I love a good cliffhanger 👍😲👍
Thanks! I hope I didn't oversell it. 😀I appreciate you coming along.

Great video, Daryl. I'm glad to see the family out and enjoying it all. Great family fun.
Thanks so much, it really was a lot of fun...mostly. Cheers. Daryl
Looks like great fun
👍👍
Hi. Yes it was a lot of fun...for the most part. 😀Thanks for coming along.
Cool! What a fun thing to do with the whole family! Mickey looked ok with it until he got splashed 😆
Yes, it was a really fun trip. Mickey did surprisingly well the whole time. Thanks for watching!
Loving some falls. That was exciting
Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
What a cliffhanger - very excited for part 2!
Thanks! There were no wild spills on the trip but there were some challenges ahead. Thanks for joining us.

Mickey seemed to be well behaved😁
That was a fun adventure so far! I'm looking forward to the next episode😀
It's really beautiful out there😍
Thanks Age. Yes, Mick was surprising very chill throughout the trip. Or he might have been too terrified to move a muscle, we're not really sure. Thanks for joining us.
Very nice canoe 🛶 adventure
❤👍
Stay safe all of you
Thanks Roni - we all survived, thankfully!

That looked really fun. I love the idea of using two cameras and it was neat to see things from the kayak and canoe perspective. Excited for part 2
Thank you. I was a little disappointed when I noticed the other camera had gotten fogged up before its batteries died. I'll have to work on a solution for that. Thanks for joining us! Cheers. Daryl
That's great 👍 what a stunning river for a paddling adventure.. something I'd like to do 👌 Glyn 🇬🇧
Thank you very much, I hope you do get to try it some day. Cheers.

amazing & thumbs up 👍🍀🔥
Thank you very much. Cheers from Canada.
Some great history in that area, was a little hairy in spots, that beach showed up right on time :) enjoyed and have a good day Daryl

Thanks! Yes it was nice to get one of these under our belts, looking forward to trying some more next season. Thanks for watching.

Hi Daryl :)
What an incredible and beautiful adventure
Thanks Mike, it was a lot of fun if you don't mind scratching the bottom of your boat. 😀
@flynorthproductions hahah

Yes, Mickey was a trooper - he didn't seem nervous at all. It was a two day trip with an overnight camp, we were pretty heavy with gear. Thanks Jen.
Oh, I really like the name of that river!! That looked a bit questionable at times. It was nice to watch from the comfort of my phone 😅
Seriously, though the scenery is beautiful 😊 looking forward to part 2!
Hi. Thank you. It was a great trip but not without its challenges, fortunately nothing too dangerous, just difficult. Thanks for coming along.
you might consider using a skirt until you get used to the swifts ... such a shallow and bony river
Yes, that's good advice, it certainly would have helped keep the water out. I need to practice the wet exits with the new skirt though first, the cockpit is so large, I can't even reach the front of the opening to pull the strap. Cringeworthy!
😀I certainly wouldn't take your beautiful kayak down this stretch, that's for sure. You're definitely going to cringe throughout part 3. I hope you had a great week at the camp. Cheers.
