    Such a beautiful place! ... And an awesome family adventure! Thanks for taking the effort and sharing with us!
    Interesting comparison with the canoe vs kayak. I've run very little fast water with either, so that was all new to me. I owned a tandom kayak for about 3 minutes one time, but it bothered my wife's knees so much we got rid of it. I found ot uncomfortable getting in and out of, but I am a larger human than most, I think. So, canoe all the way for me!

      All good points. I'm not very graceful getting in or out of either type of boat myself so I can appreciate the issue. My wife can't sit in a kayak either but I'm not comfortable anymore in a canoe unless I have a seat with a backrest. So this trip worked out well for everyone. Thanks for your continued support, Jeff. Have a good week. Daryl

    A beautiful paddle and fun comparison... I've spent a lot of time in both and I really do think it comes down to the adventure at hand... I paddle with several others that have single/ one person canoes... They are quite beautiful and special... When I see an old canoe slicing through crystal clear water, it's like a scene out of a movie... So, so magical. Great video as always... Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend... Jim ✌️

      Thanks Jim and I agree about choosing the boat according to the adventure. That's a good point. I find the canoe is harder on my back as I get older but luckily I have the kayak as an alternative. Thanks as always for watching, see you in your next one. Daryl

    Yay Part 3! Love the fog at the beginning! Beautiful drone shots. The canoe and kayak comparisons were interesting. We have kayaks and really enjoy them. Never tried a canoe but would like to someday. Our kayaks have always felt quite stable. We have the Wilderness Systems brand. Kayaking through that whitewater looks like a blast! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day, Daryl!

      Thanks so much. Yes, the whitewater was a blast, and safe too, it was usually only knee-deep in most places and nothing too fast - great for a novice like me. I appreciate you watching - take care.

    Thanks for taking us along. You know me, I love those drone shots! We have both also. The canoe is an old one but still floats us 😂. The kayak is a new edition and has been only used by Rob. It looks interesting, though. 😮

    The river section of part 3 looks to be a pretty smooth run as compared to the bony sections from part 2. Fantastic shots of the mist filled tree tops! I also enjoyed your analysis of the pros and cons of each type of watercraft. As with other tools, it really does depend on the use case. For me, it will always be a canoe - but I can definitely appreciate the kayak for all of its positive traits. I really enjoyed this three part series! Thanks for taking us along Daryl! Cheers, T.

      Thank you Trevor. I was always a canoe guy but the ergonomics of paddling one doesn't agree with my aging body. But you're right, it all depends on the application. I appreciate you watching as always. Have a good week. Cheers. Daryl

    Fun family trip! We have kayaks and I don’t have much experience in a canoe, so it was good to hear your comparisons. Plus, we haven’t gone very far and definitely haven’t done an overnight- how exciting. It’s fun that your family likes both so you sort of compromise. The wheelies for a kayak are super helpful!! Either way it’s great to have an adventure on the river!! 👌👍👍💙 - Jen 😄

    Wonderful, beautiful scenery to watch while listening to your comparison of kayaks to canoes. Great job! Personally, I like the kayak because I really like the double-bladed paddle and using both arms equally, but I must say I like being able to sit in different positions in the canoe, so maybe your extra wide kayak is the perfect solution. Thanks for a great video!

    Another great video Daryl!!! Your opening drone shots are awesome. That's a real pretty river to paddle and your on-water camera work provided an great view of travel in all the different river conditions. As part of any comparison of watercraft like in this video the experience of the operator is also a factor to be considered. I'm not a kayak guy for various reasons and would still paddle with a single blade in a canoe where a kayak paddle can be used. What is most special about any trip is getting out there and enjoying the beauty of it all. Your videos capture all of that very well.. Can't wait to watch your next adventure unfold.

    • @flynorthproductions
      @flynorthproductions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Al, and you're absolutely right about getting out there being the most important thing. It's really a matter of personal preference when it comes to the choice of boats, I just wish the canoe was kinder to my back.

    • @almarcon1896
      @almarcon1896 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And I'm the same with kayaks.. I wish they were kinder to my back and I also don't like the fact that you can't move or change the position of your legs. As long as it gets you out there, it really doesn't matter which boat you choose!!!

      Thanks and I hope you do get there. I'm informed that the dam shuts off the flow around 5pm each day so I would try to get off the water by then, otherwise you may run into the bottoming-out issues we did. Unfortunately we were on a tight schedule and didn't have the luxury of a second night of camping. Keep up the great work at your end, your videos are a valuable resource!

    A great comparison Daryl. I enjoyed your inclusion of your own experience....including your authority on the topic of flipping boats😂 Loved loved loved the opening drone shots AND your disclaimer that you did not land or take off within the Park. Although I don't mention it, I always get permission when I fly mine on private property and in the occasional park. It's important for people to know drones should be flown responsibly. Thanks for your review!

    I remember being terrified while canoeing as a kid. I have haven't kayaked ever. I tend to enjoy rivers from the shore. We did get a pontoon boat for the lake, I preferred that very much😅 I enjoyed the scenery! Nice comparison of both 😊

    Gorgeous drone shots in this one. Interesting to see the comparison. I've only been in a canoe once so I would probably pick the kayak just because that is what I know. I did like your point about how with the canoe you can see the rocks easier. Looks like you all had an awesome time out there together as a family.

    Great Kayaking Trip Daryl loved the Trip through the white water and rapids loved your comparison of the Kayak and the Canoe. I love my Kayak more than a Canoe . My Kayak is much more Stable than a Canoe and less Tippy where you sit at water level in a Kayak and Faster. Thanks Daryl Great Kayaking Trip Really Enjoyed It 🙂❤👍 until the next one seeya then. 🙂

    Beautiful! What a great trip, and a gorgeous river. I prefer a kayak over a canoe because I like that responsiveness, and it feels more like I'm part of the boat rather than perched on top. I haven't been in a 1 person canoe though, so maybe when it's not a team/such a large canoe it might be nice. I don't think I'd want to portage either one 😆

    I've never been in a kayak, so I really can't speak to that. Have spent some time in a canoe though, and portaging was never, never fun! lol I am surprised to hear that the kayak wins on stability, for that is my greatest fear of even giving it a try...the ease at which it could tip over...even though I do understand the physics of the low centre of gravity. It's really all about the amazing journey anyway...and if one is having an awesome time in what ever one has, that's what it is all about!!

    • @flynorthproductions
      @flynorthproductions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree Bruce. There are some new kayak designs out there now - like mine - that are built for comfort and stability. The tradeoff of course is speed. But for me, that's not important enough to risk tipping when getting in or out. If you get a chance to try a stable one, I would encourage you to do that. But unfortunately, there's no room for Otis or Mickey in them. 🙁 Thanks as always!
