I just drove through that area for the first time ever and just got back from a Rossport Island canoe trip. Anyway this river looks great but I think as with most Superior Rivers, they are short and sweet and a long drive away for many of us. Awesome video! You both are great to watch!!
We bet the Superior canoe trip was amazing! The Rossport area is so beautiful - we can't wait to canoe around those islands as well. Thanks so much for the kind words and for checking out our channel!
Perfect video to watch while finishing packing up for my last trip. That river looks beautiful. One day I'll own my own canoe! I can't wait for the next video :)
Great run down the White. I've been wanting to do a fly fishing video on that river for a few years now. I've been to the river but never had the chance to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.
It's a truly magical river - and the fishing is said to be excellent for brook and rainbow trout, though we didn't fish it very hard. Just a handful of casts from our campsite on the first night. We look forward to your video when you get a chance to make it. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Christina! We are now officially addicted to whitewater - it's true 😅 The beauty of the surroundings was almost surprising to us! Couldn't believe the cliffs and stunning scenery.
Those cliffs were really spectacular! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to get back to Ontario this fall. I've got a few big canoe trips planned, the entire French River, a ring around Killarney, and something more remote I haven't decided on yet. It's all about the cliffs though. And the fish!
We were surprised with those cliffs as well! Such an underrated river, in our opinion. Perhaps we'll see you out on the trail in the fall! Thanks for watching 😃
That turtle found a cool (I mean warm) place to chill! Jay you were right when you said non stop action, looked like a lot of fun. Pino's sausage, and fresh veggies, you guys are living the backcountry dream! Those cliffs were majestic, great adventure guys!
Thanks, Mattias! You should look at this river with the family - but do it in spring. It's a great overnight or even 2 night adventure. The fishing is supposed to be great as well, though we don't put much effort into that these days 😅Thanks for watching!
@@beautyofthebackcountry looked like a blast!!! We are starting to get a little front end heavy with the new pup, so will have to do er on 2 canoes...I've got it on the list for a few years down the road, when the kids get there strokes down. Good to know about the fishing...specs or pickerel?
@@21Swayzee ahhh...yeah, you guys are really cramming yourselves into your boat with the pup! There are supposed to be loads of specks in the river - but they were elusive to our flies when we half-heartedly sought them out that night.
Very cool! Those cliffs remind me of Devil's Rock here on Lake Temiskaming. The pure beauty of Northern Ontario never seems to get boring. Thanks for bringing us along.
We still haven't been out on Temiskaming in a canoe yet, but have heard some amazing things. Devil's Rock might push us that much more to visit! Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
@@beautyofthebackcountry ya Temiskaming is what I often call little Superior. She sure has a temper some days and if you're not paying attention to her mood, you could be another statistic of the lake. So far she's taken 3 lives this year alone. One this past winter and two this summer. The third person they're still looking for but as I told the neighbor the other day; this is why I call it little Superior cause she often doesn't give up her dead. If you're ever in New Liskeard area, let me know. I'll show you the sites..... safely.
@@darrendavidsonoutdoors Whoa...yeah we've heard that she's super deep, and thus can be really cold even in summer. We'll definitely reach out if we make our way up to the Tri-Towns! Thanks, Darren!
You guys are doing great with whitewater! Nicely done! Loved the video and glad you didn’t go over those falls 😜 I could be mistaken, but I think that might be the river we followed last year from the Trans-Canada headed north to our out-in on the Missinaibi, near Chapleau. We kept remarking how beautiful the river appeared.
Thanks so much, Eric! We've certainly been bitten by the whitewater bug and it's super fun. I believe you would have actually been on highway 129 heading toward Missinaibie and Chapleau - that is the MIssissagi River that hugs the highway for a while. We have a video about that river as well you should check out - it's our favourite river! This one is a tributary of the Mississagi :) Thanks for watching!!
Wow. You guys continue to impress. My wife now wants to paddle it next summer! I'm wondering what the water levels would be like in July, too low maybe? Anyway, your videos are really informative, entertaining, and well-crafted. We thoroughly enjoy them. Thanks. 👍👍
We highly recommend you guys trip the river! July would almost certainly be low enough to make it difficult to travel certain sections, though. There are spots where we got stuck in the upper reaches even in early June when we went. We'd suggest May or June for this trip, if you can swing that. We so appreciate your kind words and encouragement!
That's awesome! It's such a beautiful area up there - quiet and full of lovely vistas. We highly recommend canoeing this river in spring. The fishing is said to be superb as well, though we didn't manage to catch any. Congrats on the cabin!
We were on the Deer Run in June and wondered about this river. The canoe route is listed BR Maps. We stopped at the new bridge and checked out the rapids and thought...man that's a cheese grater! Kudos to you and your skills and making that route front and centre! Cheers!
Thanks, Richard! We were on the river in early June and it was in prime form, though we did run aground in a couple of spots, we managed to maintain the bottom of our boat in relatively good shape :) Always appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for watching! If you put in at the falls we almost went backwards down, you skip most of the rapids but still get a lot of the beauty - no need for a whitewater boat below that point, really. Highly recommended!
Yes indeed! We use your website often just to look for trip ideas, even. It's such a great resource and we so appreciate it! If you're wondering how we arranged the shuttle, it was quite simple, actually - we own 2 vehicles and parked one at the takeout near Kynoch/Bell's Falls, and took the other (with canoe) up to the put-in north of Elliot Lake. PS - we've added a link to myccr.com in this and future video descriptions 😁Thanks for the comment!

Aww thank you! We're always learning :)
You two are part of the beauty of the backcountry. Strong, yet gentle; relentless, yet adaptable; ordered, yet ready for chaos!
Thanks, Don! Such kind words - we do our best to adapt to any situation, especially those dicey ones we sometimes put ourselves into lol
Another awesome adventure/video from an awesome couple of youtubers.

Thanks, friend! Safe travels coming back our way - have a great last trip!
This was a great one. Nice work out there. Hope your saw is working well for you.
The saw is working amazingly, Steve - thanks for that!! It's so light and sturdy. Best pull saw on the market - hands down.
Awesome looking trip! That’s my type of adventure!
Thanks so much! We were so pleased with the trip - we can't wait to be back to do a bunch more fly fishing and run those rapids again!
